Two kingdoms at war.
Brutal fae magic.
One girl could be the key to ending it all.

When the youngest human princess, Aven Elridge, turns the tides of the war between humans and fae with her fierce legions and her father’s brilliant plan to use their own form of magic against the fae, everyone believes the humans have all but won.

That is, until the fae take revenge too far, slaughtering Aven’s siblings and forcing her to cross the borderlands as their prisoner to keep the human king in line.

As the fae try to convince her to stop the war by marrying one of the princes, she resists with her iron will, believing it is only another trick. But both Crown Prince Cillian, with his kindness and pretty words, and his brother Roran, with his dark swagger and thinly veiled innuendos, make it harder to ignore what’s in front of her.

With grim news from her kingdom, Aven is forced to make a choice to save her remaining human subjects and the life of her father.

One she’s terrified she’ll live to regret.

Such a good read! I was able to read this book as an ARC and it kept me hooked from beginning to end, wanting to know what would happen next! Honestly from the beginning Cillian was giving very weird vibes but never did I fully expect what he did. I can’t wait for book 2 so that I can finally start seeing more of Roran and Aven!

From the prologue, I knew this book was going to be good! It opened with intrigue and mystery that left me curious and wanting to keep reading.

Sometimes with the fantasy genre, an author’s world building could be confusing and/or have way too many characters to try to remember. This book, however, was very easy to follow! All the main characters were very likable.

The plot is very creative and unique! The story kept my interest and kept me guessing.

The author truly has talent. It’s one thing to come up with a story, it’s another to tell it well. The author never used repetitive phrases and described things in a way that was easy to follow along.

I rate this book 4.5 stars, but rounded it up to 5 because the author’s gift for writing.

I received this book as an arc review which has no effect on my review.

I liked this book but it fell flat for me. There were a lot of plot holes and other things that were left open for I'm assuming the next books since this ended on a cliff hanger.

The book was very descriptive and painted the picture of literally everything from dresses to rooms to the gardens. I felt that at times it was too much.

The lead fmc was a push over and was incredibly naive. This book felt more ya then womens contemporary fiction.

I would recommend this more toward the younger crowd.

The book started off quick, with the FMC at the beginning of a war. Her character interested me and I liked the world building and the writing style of the author. When the 2 MMC's were introduced, I didn't connect with them right away. The story continued to be interesting but I just wasn't feeling the romance and some of her 'adventures' didn't feel necessary to the plot. This story felt mostly YA to me, aside from some kissing and the start of something more, there was 't any spice. I had a lot of questions about the magic systems (her wand and runes) from the that never got answered fully in my opinion. So the end of the book left me unsatisfied. The story is written well with a good plot, but I think this book just isn't for me.

I got this book as a ARC and I gotta say, I'm so happy I did! (except that I have to wait for the next one)! This book had me hooked from the start! The author does a great job of world building. Here we have humans fighting against Fae. There's war, death, destruction, enemies to lovers, and the promise of possibly some r-rated scenes. It's classified as a romance but thankfully that isn't the main focus. Almost immediately, our MC is taken and thrust into a difficult situation in order to garner peace between two kingdoms. She must pick a fae prince and marry him but who to choose? Oh. She chooses alright and hoooowee the ending (cliffhanger) wasn't what I was expecting! I can't wait for more

I really enjoyed A Kingdom of Destruction. A great start to a series.

Aven the FMC is strong, independent and certainly not the princess everyone expects her to be. Instead she’s a fierce warrior and leader in the war with the Fae.
Until she’s not.
The two MMCs are chalk and cheese. Which is always fun. She has to choose - or does she?

Plot is plotting right to the very last line!

Ends on a cliff hanger, and I’m looking forward to book 2.

OH. MY. GOD.

First, thank you to BookSirens and Ivory K. Rose for the ARC.

This book sucks you in from the very beginning. There were a couple slow parts but the tension between Aven and Roran was *chefs kiss*. I loved watching the development between the two MMC and Aven. THE ENDING?! Noooooo I need book two immediately.

Kingdom of Destruction by Ivory K Rose

RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
SPICE: 🌶️
TROPES: rival kingdoms, forced marriage, love triangle, deception

“You want to parade me past your cronies because of your victory? Your head is large enough. You don’t need any help to grow it.”

There was definitely a balance of good and bad when it came to this book. One thing is for sure though… this book gave me whip lash. 😅

It was an interesting concept where the fae were at war with the mortals but yet need the mortals to ensure they gain.

Aven is the FMC of this book and she kind of honestly annoyed me. She just couldn’t make up her mind on things. One minute she was strong and independent and then the next she was helpless and in need of a hero. Lowkey rooting for her and Roran to hook up but that’s because I LOVE the morally grey men.

Prince Roran. I don’t even know where to start. This guy caught my heart from the very beginning. He’s mysterious, flirtatious, moody, ugh. What more can I say. Your typical morally grey MMC and I’m 100% loving him. His brother Prince Cillian on the other hand. He’s way too much of a goodie for me. I mean yes some of his gestures towards Aven have me swooning but he’s too nice that it becomes suffocating in a way.

Now the finale. WHAT WAS THAT ENDING???? I desperately need to know what happens next thanks to that cliffhanger of an ending. Now to wait for book two in the series. 😭

A kingdom of destruction
DETILED REVIEW
4.5⭐️
🌶Spice is all temptation and yearning and holding back, hiding book 2 gives us the big action scenes!

TROPES
💀 War and violencė
🤯 Secrets and Betrayals
🥵 Love Triangle
👑 Royal family
🗡 Bad ass fmc
🔮 Magic and runes

This is one EMOTIONAL, TWISTY, TENSE read! I thought I was predicting what would happen next, and I was just wrong. I shouted at the fmc, got angry at 1 mmc, got down right pi55ed of with the other one especially when he appeared in her bedroom in the night as I was hoping for one plot but got a totally different one! I was crying my heart out, and then I was feeling fierce and determined... just a roller coaster of a book!

The first chapter set the book off for me! Best opening chapter ever! All the way through this book I was wondering which brother said that because the way it is written leaves you completely guessing who thinks she's his mate and who can't care less, because as you read on the water just gets muddied and you genuinely can't guess or, worse still, you can't root for the one you want because YOU DONT KNOW WHO HE IS! I actually had to flick back multiple times to re read it again and again to make sure I hadn't missed something! So pay attention to that opening!

The plot:
So 2 kingdoms who will both do litterally anything to win the war.
But what started the war? Who killed who? Why did their mum die? How did humans cross the border? Will she choose 1 prince or the other, or both, or have the choice taken away or worse chosen for her?! What a love triangle! I was rooting for both at the start, then I picked a lead fave and almost swapped toward the end, but I'm glad I didn't!

The characters were very well written, with little backstory but lots of depth and passion, relatable and likeable or, in some cases, unlikeable. There was excellent character development as they dealt with every stumble and fall. Each issue that came up was worked through and processed with the reader along for the ride.

I had a few comments and questions as I went through the story, wondering what was that for, why did he do it that way, what was that for, etc... I expected to get the answers, but I presume they're all in book 2
I feel we need to know more about their mums, the magic trees and the start of the war mainly, but the most important one for me was when the fmc saved a fae life- and then we moved on... does anyone know she helped? Did it count for anything? Will his character come back to be important?

Be warned there were some gruesome themes in this book, lots of tragedies, trauma, bloodshed, and war topics in general, so check the TW.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
READ THIS! if you like an independent fighting fierce FMC, gorgeous men to choose from, fighting, romance, plotting, and being emotionally thrown all over, then this is for you!
This book has infuriated me so darn much, like I said- I couldn't predict the twists, I couldn't root for the right person until I got to the BOMB SHELL in the last 5 pages and the amount of times my emotions flickered while reading had me choosing to read from night through to the morning AND THEN STARTING THE NEXT BOOK because I needed to know...!!

From the very first page, A Kingdom of Destruction by Ivory K. Rose grips you in its magical, enchanting world. Set in the Fae kingdom of Mourningvale, this fantasy novel weaves a captivating tale of war, betrayal, and difficult choices. The story follows Princess Aven, a strong-willed heroine who finds herself caught in a war between humans and fae. After a devastating turn of events, she becomes a prisoner of the Fae king, forced to navigate the complexities of her new life in a kingdom where nothing is as it seems.

What makes this book stand out is its intricate world-building, particularly the unique magic system that governs the Fae realm. I was thoroughly fascinated by how magic works in this world—it's refreshing and adds layers of depth to the plot. Alongside the magic, the emotional stakes are high as Aven is placed in an impossible position: she must choose one of the Fae king's sons to marry in order to bring peace to the warring factions. The resulting love triangle is beautifully written, full of tension, and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Both of the king’s sons are polar opposites, making Aven’s dilemma even more intriguing and heartbreaking.

The enemies-to-lovers trope is also well-executed, and I loved the way the relationships in this book evolve—sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly, but always with a sense of urgency and real emotion. The plot twist near the end was one I did not see coming, leaving me eagerly anticipating the next book in the series. The author has masterfully set the stage for what promises to be a wild and emotional ride in the next installment.

That said, the pacing can sometimes feel a bit rushed in places, and I would have loved a little more development in some of the secondary characters. However, these are minor quibbles in an otherwise captivating and well-paced story.

Overall, A Kingdom of Destruction is a fantastic start to what I am sure will be an unforgettable series. The world-building is rich, the stakes are high, and the romance is compelling. I can’t wait to see where Ivory K. Rose takes us next in book two. If you love intricate fantasy, love triangles, and intense emotional conflicts, this book is a must-read.

4.5 stars – highly recommended!

I was really into this for the first 70% or so and stormed up to that point in less than a day, and the magic system and world-building felt quite fresh to me (although admittedly I haven't read as much fantasy as some people)... but then the following 25% really dragged. I felt like a lot of it was quite repetitive, with not much happening, and could have been cut. A lot of this felt like padding and if it was gone the story would have been so much stronger!

There were also a lot of times where the tense suddenly changed within a sentence or paragraph, or where characters jumped around a bit, e.g. 'he was sat on my bed' and then three seconds later 'he moved to sit down on my bed,' which really detracted from the reading experience. Some of the text also feels like it may have been slightly strangely translated from another language (although I am unsure of this) - e.g. at one point, the city of Grimrose is randomly called 'the Grimrose' rather than just 'Grimrose', which is how it was referred to every other time.

I also really did not feel any kind of tension / attraction etc. between Arven and Cillian, but I think I was supposed to? Especially towards the end when she said (to herself) that she loved him... like, this is the first I'm hearing of this.

BUT THEN, in the last 5%, Ivory K. Rose pulled it back with some INSANE plot twists which I had not seen coming at all (although part of this was marred by more padding and confusing logistics, as characters once again jumped around, e.g. 'he pinned her wrists above her head' and then in the next paragraph 'he pinned her wrists above her head', or 'every curl of her hair was still in place' despite her literally describing how it wasn't in the preceding paragraph).

But even with these slight issues, I would still definitely recommend this book, and am hugely looking forward to reading the second one in the series, as well as Ivory K. Rose's other books.

A Kingdom of Destruction is the kind of book that completely pulls you in and refuses to let go. From the very first chapter, the plot twists start rolling in, and you genuinely have no idea where the story is going to take you next. The stakes are immediately high, yet the book still takes time to establish the main character’s everyday life before everything changes, making the inciting event all the more impactful.

The world-building is strong, with a compelling magic system and a well-crafted political structure that adds depth to the story. While I would have loved even more exploration of the world’s history and its cultural dynamics, what’s there is rich and immersive. The writing style is sharp, engaging, and beautifully balanced—there’s enough detail to paint a vivid picture, but it also allows the reader to read between the lines rather than spoon-feeding information. The third-person POV is incredibly well done, making the storytelling feel both cinematic and deeply personal.

That said, some of the early character interactions feel a bit awkward and cringy, but it’s a minor complaint because the dialogue gets much stronger as the book progresses. Please PLEASE just ignore these tiny awkward interactions in the first few chapters and keep reading!

This is a plot-driven book with romance, and it delivers on both fronts. The pacing is fantastic, the twists are unpredictable, and the tension never lets up. Every major reveal feels earned, and the stakes remain high throughout the entire book.

So, would I read it again? Absolutely. Will I be picking up the next book the second it releases? Without a doubt. This book completely exceeded my expectations, and I’m already counting down the days until I can return to this world.

📖 Final Verdict: A thrilling, high-stakes fantasy with a compelling magic system, gripping twists, and cinematic prose that keeps you hooked from start to finish. If you’re looking for a book that grabs you and doesn’t let go, this is the one.

A Kingdom of Destruction by Ivory K. Rose is a mesmerizing fantasy story, in which a war between Fae and Humans only has losers. When Princess Aven walks into a trap only to find out almost all of her relatives are dead, she becomes a prisoner of the Fae. And when the cruel Fae King wants her to chose between his two sons, as one of his sons she has to marry, she does not know what to do.

From the very first I was totally captivated by this story. The writing style just pulls you in, as does Aven. She is such a great character: fierce, loyal, fights well thanks to her runes which are inked on her body. When she becomes a pawn into the war and schemes of the Fae King, she wants out, but his sons are determined to get under her skin. They are completely different and as a reader you, as Aven, do not know if they are telling the truth, because she gets treated as a guest (as if).

As Aven spends more time with Roran and Cillian, she gets to know them better and sometimes she likes the banter between them all. Both Roran and Cillian are great characters, you want to like them, but at the same time you don’t trust them. I can understand why Aven has a hard time choosing between them. As the story progresses, there is this huge plot twist I did not see coming at all!

The world-building is amazing, as is the magic system of the runes. I had a really hard time putting the book down.

A Kingdom of Destruction is a great read, it is a fantastic novel, with great characters, complete with danger, betrayal, romance, banter, many twists and turns, and with a fantastic FMC, who just leaps off the pages. If you want to read a mesmerizing and fascinating fantasy novel, you have to read this one! I can’t wait to read the next book, as this book has become one of my favourite reads!

✨ARC Review✨

This book is about a human princess who will do anything to defend her kingdom and people against the fae enemies, however the problem is, so will they, so when it comes down to her capture with only one real way for true peace, she doesn’t know if she’s making the right choice… or if she has a choice at all.

I don’t think I’ve ever read a book that has infuriated me so much in the best way possible 🙃 I read a preview and was instantly hooked and pretty much devoured the book.

What I liked:
✨ Characters - the characters were very well written, you could relate to them and they were very likeable (well, most of them)
✨ Character Development - each characters development was superbly done and thou could see the characters working through their issues and traumas without it feeling forced or taking away from the story
✨ Plot Twists - I’ve read a lot of books in my time but my god the plot twists WERE TWISTING and I cannot even begin to fathom how gobsmacked I am (literal jaw on the floor gobsmacked)
✨ Tough topics - the author isn’t afraid to write about tragedies and very upsetting scenes (bloodbaths, violence, murder) and she didn’t let up either which just makes the story that much better because she confidently wrote it

There was nothing about this book I didn’t like, it was so well written with important scenes in the right place, the characters connecting was beautiful and just the story as a whole blew me away! I cannot wait to read the next book in the series and continue the story!

What a great read!
This book hooked me in pretty much from the start.
I loved the whole premise of the book - I thought it was a really intriguing plot idea which kept me guessing all the way through. The plot twists were great - I didn’t see any of them coming as I was so caught up in what was happening. The story was really well written and well paced. The world building felt really immersive and interesting and the magic system was unique. This was different from many of the books I’ve read recently so it felt really fresh and was a different take on humans vs fae.
I really liked the MCs and the dynamics between them, and I thought the character development was well written. Aven is in an impossible situation having to choose between two Fae princes, or choose both, to save her people and end the war. Roran and Cillian are complete opposites - one dark and broody, the other light and cheerful! I was drawn to Roran straight away despite his manner towards Aven - something seemed too charming about Cillian from the start but it was never something you could quite put your finger on! Never has the phrase ‘too good to be true’ seemed more apt! Very frustrating to read - but in the best way.
I enjoyed the fact that there was romance and tension throughout but you never knew quite which way things were going to go, but also the plot wasn’t just centred around that.
This book ends on a cliffhanger and a half! Did not see that ending coming! Already looking forward to book two!

Aven is the youngest princess in the human realm. She won't take the throne. That falls to her older brother. But she won't be like her sisters. So she became a warrior. There is a war going on with the fae.
She has a mission to do. As her and her men are on the mission they're attacked by fae. It feels wrong. It was a diversion. They rush back to the city and her family. Only the city has fallen and the castle is occupied. When she enters the throne room she sees the remains of her brothers and sisters. The fae king has her father. He gives the two of them a proposition. She goes with the fae as a prisoner.
Cillian and Roran are brothers. Each has different characteristics. After days of her captivity the fae king tells her to choose. She is to wed one of his sons and he will give her the choice. Then the fae castle is attacked by rogue humans. She seeks to escape. Then she convinces Cillian to let her train. Then she receives a secret message from Major Stone. But the first attempt left all the humans dead and her stuck in a room with Roran. She;s going crazy. The only good thing was that she could train once again. But what should she do? Choose? If so which brother? And what about a rescue? Her father? So
many questions, so many sensations and feelings and no answers. What should she do?
A fascinating story that will have the readers enthralled. Personally I feel she should gut all three fae royals but that's the Sicilian in me.

The story follows a young woman who, despite being a princess, loves being a warrior instead. In the throes of an endless war with the fae, she loses almost everything and is taken captive by them. Instead of being treated like a prisoner, she is given the choice to choose between two princes. The whole of the book is about her coming to terms with her situation and finding herself attracted to not just one prince, but both. Which one will she choose though?

The world-building was not bad and kept you intrigued and their magic system was also interesting, but I felt it didn't have enough oomph in the story itself. I wouldn't have classified it as 'brutal magic'. The characters were a bit complex and sometimes left you trying to figure them out yourself. A lot of information is kept in the dark, which leaves the reader interested in what could really be happening or what will happen next.

The romance between the characters was an extreme slow-burn with no finalization to it and did leave me wanting more. While there were some sexual innuendos and such, there is no SMUT. If you are looking for SMUT, don't read this book, for there is none! This book has no real spiciness to it.

Overall, the way the book ends left me wanting to read the next book to find out what happens next. I think there is a lot of potential for this series to be great.

Let me start by saying Fantasy Romance is not a genre I usually read, that being said I was pleasantly surprised that this book sucked me from the first page and that says a lot. Ivory K. Rose builds a world that opens the mind. Her MFC was strong and deeply caring for the people she felt responsible for yet feels alone and unsure of her value as a woman. The two MMC's were night and day but in ways you don't expect. There is danger, twists and strong emotion. Although there is very little spice the tension is there. The choices she has to make torment her yet Aven (MFC) tries hard to make the right choices placing her heart and wants behind wanting peace between the Fae and human worlds. This was a fast read that held my attention all the way through till the last page. The author chose the perfect place to end this story and drag you into the next book running head first. I can't wait to read the next chapter in Aven, Cillian and Roran's twisted story. I highly recommend this book for both those who already enjoy Fantasy romance and for those like me who may not think they enjoyed this genre and be pleasantly surprised with Ivory Rose's writing style and story building as I was. I received this book as an ARC and I'm leaving this honest review voluntarily.

A Kingdom of Destruction
Brutal Magic Book 1
By Ivory K Rose
Pub Date: 2/1/25

Princess Aven is a human whose kingdom has been battling the Fae since before she was born. She leads her army into another battle that they believe is all but won. But when she realizes the Fae have outsmarted them, she arrives too late back at her palace to find her siblings killed. She and her father broker a deal where she will become a prisoner of war.

As she navigates her new life in the fae kingdom, a deal is brought forth to bring peace between the kingdoms. She must marry one of the fae princes all while dealing with her grief. She is treated like royalty and gets to know the fae princes but who will she choose? Prince Cillian is kind and adores Aven or Prince Roran who is dark and knows just how to push her buttons? Will she make the right choice to save her faltering kingdom?

I liked this book and the cliffhanger ending makes me want book 2 to come out now! I enjoyed the characters and the differences between the brothers and the love/hate relationship between Aven and Roran. The last scene kept me on the edge of my seat.

The way A Kingdom of Destruction pulls you in from page 1 is insane! I’ve only had 1 or 2 other books really pull me in from the get go like the way Ivory Rose’s words tugged on my soul and roped me into the story!

The world is magical and enchanting and you can really envision yourself within the world you are reading about without the descriptions being overboard. It’s the right amount of descriptive information for the world building!

This is a story that follows the beautiful princess Aven! She is caught between humans and fae within a war. After some time she becomes captured and becomes the prisoner of the Fae king and that changes her life in MANY WAYS!

Be prepared for a badass enemies to lovers book that leaves you wanting more of tho world; the characters and the words that jump right at you off the pages!!!

The emotional conflicts, lovers quarrel and amazing fantasy is unreal and unmatched!

I can’t wait to see what Ivory Rose brings to the table next!

A Kingdom of Destruction is a gripping fantasy romance filled with tension, intrigue, and slow-burn passion. Ivory K. Rose weaves a captivating story set in a world of magic and war, where alliances are fragile, and danger lurks behind every promise.

The novel shines with its immersive world-building and well-developed characters. The protagonist is strong-willed yet vulnerable, navigating a treacherous path of power struggles and unexpected connections. The romance unfolds gradually, keeping readers hooked with its intensity and emotional depth.

Fans of fantasy with a blend of political intrigue, romance, and high stakes will find this book hard to put down. Rose’s writing style is vivid and engaging, making every scene come to life. While some familiar tropes appear, they are executed in a fresh and compelling way.

If you enjoy stories that mix romance with rich fantasy elements, A Kingdom of Destruction is a must-read. It delivers action, emotion, and a touch of darkness—all wrapped in a beautifully crafted tale.

3.5 ⭐ - 0 🌶️ (just kissing and the thought of more).

The premise of this story was great and I really got into the book at first. The FMC is a hot-headed human princess who ends up as a prisoner of war, stuck between two fae brothers. Without spoilers, the concept of the story was really interesting; however, as the story evolved, the writing seemed more chaotic and rushed. By the ending, the plot twist did nothing for me. I was just confused and lost any flow the story had previously had.

The romance aspect seemed too forced and rushed. I mean, Chapter 7, page 69 (on Kindle), irritated me. In this situation, she would be mourning and terrified ... NOT getting turned on by the son (you'll understand if you read). This was way too soon, there needed to be more of a build on relationship, or even chemistry before this happened.

I understand that this is a debut novel, and if the writing was further edited, with parts re-written, then I think this could be a great first book of the series.

Tropes and themes: forced proximity, love triangle, prisoner of war, arranged marriage, humans vs fae.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A Kingdom of Destruction is an enchanting fantasy set in the Fae kingdom of Mourningvale. A war has broken out between humans vs fae & Princess Aven has found herself caught up in the middle of it. After her life is turned upside down, she is now the fae king’s prisoner. While trying to find her place in the new kingdom, she is tasked with an impossible choice. She must choose between the King’s polar opposite sons and marry one to create peace between the humans and fae. Will Aven make the right choice?

I was wrapped up so quickly in this book. I truly did not want it to end but needed to know what happened next. This book has a unique magic system, a love triangle, enemies to lovers, and quite the plot twist. I cannot wait for the wild ride that will be book two.

I absolutely loved this book! It was so enticing and while it has a few unanswered questions, I’m looking forward to finding the answers in the second book. Thank you so much to Book Sirens for this ARC in exchange for my honest review!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This book has pretty much the makings of all the fantasy tropes that you'll enjoy. It has that enemies to lovers, strong badass FMC, love triangle, close-proximity, and so on. This was a beautifully written book. The world-building in this book was produced very well. I think that the characters were written well, but I feel like we could've learned just a little bit more about each one. We follow our FMC, Aven the human princess who battles the fae kingdom with her father. They use some form of their own magic again the fae and think they have won. Unfortunately, that's not the case, which leaves Aven as a prisoner. Her siblings are slaughtered to keep her father in line. She is now being convinced that the only way to stop this war is if she marries one of the fae princes. I liked that they both had their own magic systems in place. The twist in the end was honestly frustrating because I did not see that coming. I'm frustrated because I am now left with this cliffhanger for the next book!

Oh My God. Those three words perfectly sum up what I felt about this book. I do not even know where to start. This plot is amazing, including the choice between the two brothers, the regret, and the jumping between the FMC wanting to be where she is and not wanting to. This book is honestly amazing. It is one of those books where once you pick it up, you can't put it back down again.

The characters are written beautifully, and the FMC struggles with losing who she is as a person while also trying to account for what she has to do to survive is so good.

Just so you know, you will never and I mean never expect the ending of this book. It was one of those moments where I simply had to put my Kindle on the other side of the room and wait a few minutes while I screamed to pick it back up again and finish the final few pages.

I write this review probably 3 minutes after finishing the book and I already NEED the next instalment or I will not be able to function in my day to day life anymore.

The dynamic between Aven and the two fae princes, Cillian and Roran, is electric and masterfully written. Cillian’s gentleness and quiet strength contrast beautifully with Roran’s brooding intensity and wicked charm, creating a tension that keeps the reader guessing which path Aven will choose. The romance is subtle yet simmering, never detracting from the larger stakes of war but adding layers to Aven’s internal struggle.

Rose’s worldbuilding is nothing short of exquisite. The fae and human lands feel alive, rich with history and magic that leaps off the page. The contrast between the two warring kingdoms emphasizes the deep wounds inflicted by the conflict, and the author doesn’t shy away from exploring the darker aspects of war—betrayal, sacrifice, and moral ambiguity.

If you’re a fan of epic fantasy with morally gray characters, high-stakes romance, and intricate storytelling, A Kingdom of Destruction is a must-read. Ivory K. Rose has crafted a tale that is both devastatingly beautiful and utterly unforgettable.
