Rate this book
THE SPELLSHOP meets IN THE COMPANY OF WITCHES. A magical world full of supernatural neighbors. Meet the quirkiest found family set against a nostalgic 1990s backdrop in Bewitcher's Beach. This cozy fantasy series has romance, magic, and mystery!

The grimoire with the clues to her family has disappeared, except now is when the truth comes out.

When bones are uncovered at Shadowvale University, and the school’s dean goes missing with Noema’s beloved book, everything points back to a past she can’t remember. Or can she?

While the police search for the culprit, Noema tracks the grimoire through a series of smells and strange memories that reveal a horrible truth leading the investigators right back to her. And help is in short supply. Her charming cop friend is occupied with a case back home, and her reaper semi-boyfriend is off on a months-long mission.

With time running out and suspicion mounting, Noema must use her gift for detecting emotions from the last people with the Book of Prophecies—before she’s locked up again.

This comfort-read series has also been called ‘HALLOWEENTOWN meets GILMORE GIRLS’. Each book in The Bewitcher's Beach Paranormal Cozy Mysteries, can be read as standalone books unless you're following the overall romance and series-wide mystery.

An instantly immersive, intriguing, and suspenseful story with a fast-moving plot and good worldbuilding. There are new clues to Noema’s past, but there is still a lot to learn. I love Seth, he is such a sweetheart.

A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All of the above opinions are my own.

This past November, the fourth installment in Emily Fluke's Bewitcher's Beach Mystery series was released. I was thrilled to receive a free copy from the author. Banshees, Boomboxes, and Bones is another entertaining installment in the series I've been enjoying from the beginning.

As with the previous installments, Banshees, Boomboxes, and Bones is set in the 1990s. Noema accompanies her pups on a field trip to Shadowvale University. When the field trip concludes, her pups go home, but Noema stays to investigate the disappearance of the grimoire. This holds the clues to Noema's family history, so she is eager to find it. Things get dicey when not only bones are found, but the ghost of the dead body goes missing. To make matters worse, Noema may have a shady past that she doesn't quite remember. Was she the culprit or can she clear her own name? There's a lot to uncover!

The world building continues to be phenomenal and it's seamlessly infused in the mystery. The little nuances, such as the ears flexing, give the reader such a clear picture of how the characters are interacting and reacting. I also love how the sense of smell continues to play a key role in the series. Noema can smell emotions. For example, confusion is the scent of pineapple pizza.

All of the talk of spells did confuse me in a portion of the second half of the book and the 1990s nostalgia isn't as strong as it was in the beginning of the series. I miss the many references to that era. I also noticed that there is mild language in this installment, which was not the case in the previous ones. However, the mysteries have become more complex since the beginning of the series and I do love how it has changed in that way. Each installment builds upon the other.

Along with the mysteries and setting, I continue to be interested in the relationships between the characters. A complete character list at the beginning of the book would have been helpful. Some characters are listed, but many are missing. I did highlight the characters in my Kindle, but I also like having the list altogether in the front, as was the case in previous installments.

If you enjoy paranormal cozies, then the Bewitcher's Beach Mystery series is a must read. If you're a fan of culinary cozies, will be treated to a few recipes at the end of the book, although they do not play a huge role in the series. I highly recommend starting with Magic, Movies, and Murder and reading the series in order.

Thank you to author Emily Fluke for providing me with a free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

📚🩷 ARC Thoughts and First Impressions 🩷📚

This book is pure ✨ magic ✨ wrapped in mystery, sprinkled with charm, and topped with a touch of romance! Set in a nostalgic, witchy seaside town, it’s got all the cozy vibes—think supernatural secrets, quirky neighbors, and a missing book that holds way too many answers. 📖🔮

When a shocking discovery at a university puts her at the center of a swirling storm of suspicion, our heroine is in deep trouble. 😱 Her beloved book has vanished, her past is suddenly very relevant, and—of course—her usual partners-in-crime are nowhere to be found. 🚔☠️

With time running out ⏳ and eerie clues leading her down a rabbit hole of forgotten memories, she’ll have to use her special gift (and a whole lot of determination!) to track down the truth before she ends up in a situation she really doesn’t want to be in. 😬💀

Full of magic, mystery, and a town you’ll wish you could visit, this cozy read is the perfect mix of eerie and heartwarming! If you love spellbinding sleuthing, a little romance, and a lot of quirky fun, you need this book on your shelf! 🖤📚✨

This series just keeps getting better and better. It was cool to see Noema on her own without Crow or Sett—at least for awhile.

And I absolutely adore when I catch notes of the Gilmore Girl vibes that inspired this series. I will die on the hill that Sett is Noema’s Luke and Crow is her Max Medina.

Being in a completely different environment shakes things up for Noema, and watching her worth through that with Hattie was so cool.

But that end? THAT. ENDING?!?!?!? Worst ending ever, but not because the writing is bad. It left me with so many questions and now I desperately need book 5. I have my theories on some of the people from Noema's past, and I cannot wait til we get to see more and more pop up about them.

Honestly, I thought book 2 was my favorite, but not anymore! BB&B has slid right to the top!!

Thank you for the arc <3 this review is unbiased and 100% my own thoughts and opinions.

Ok this one totally hooked me!! Ugh I need to know more about Noema past. Like I know I read the pre squeal, but I think I need to read it again. I need to know why a lot of stuff happened when they did! Why did this or that happen!!! This book wasn't like the others. Because you are at the university and it was more just Noema and everyone at the school. So it gives a different vibe, which I honestly loved. This series is the best! I need to know what happens next. Because I need to know what happened to Noema and why she can't remember anything!!! I'm racing for the next book!

I may be obsessed with Emily Fluke’s books at this point. I absolutely loved this book and had a hard time putting it down. When Coach, the head of Shadowvale University, and also a ghost, goes missing, Noema does her best to solve the mystery of not only Coach’s disappearance, but also her death. Along the way, she learns more about her own mysterious past. I didn’t see the true villain coming. Fluke does a fabulous job at not giving it all away too soon!

This series just keeps sucking me in deeper. I love the setting in the this book. Some questions were answered while I have more questions that I’m looking forward to figuring out. The 90’s nostalgia is like a warm hug. I absolutely love Sett and at this point I want to poke Crow in the eye (I did say I love Sett)! I am enjoying Noema finding out about her past and being along for the ride for her future. I can’t wait for the next book in the series

Another fun installment in the Bewitchers Beach Mysteries!!! A few more answers about Noema's past, but even more questions now!! I'm still not a huge fan of the relationship triangle, I'm a Sett fan myself, so there was some good parts and not so good parts to this book where he was concerned. Loved seeing more of the Witches.

I love this series! It’s so nostalgic.

However, I was slowly losing interest in this particular book until about 70% and it picked back up again (or rather a previous beloved character FINALLY showed up!) and a ONE BED moment! Yes please!

I loved the little twists throughout, and the reveal at the end felt darker than in previous books so I LOVED THAT!

I loved it! I loved how involved the mystery was, and how intertwined the supernatural and the mystery were together. The classic references still made their appearance, and the story was done without being too dark or scary.

I loved the new scenery. An academy of magic, ghosts, banshees, and learning more about Noema's past? Count me in. I couldn't put this down. I love Sett. I really hope she ends up with him.

I received a free copy but the opinion is my own.

I had a hard time getting into this one. I guess the town is my favorite part of this series, so having this story set in a different place just took me out of it. The last third was good, though. Once Sett showed up, I was invested again.

I received this book as a beta reader. I enjoyed it so much! It is set in the late 90s, and brings back so many nostalgic memories for me. The characters are very well written, and I love the mystery of finding out “who done it”. Noema is my favorite! I can’t wait to read more of her story.
