As the title foretells, MC Crimson willingly undertakes a labor of love for her friend Ayla. Unfortunately, the tasks become increasingly overwhelming as Crimson attempts to turn the couple’s rather incoherent ramblings into their fairytale wedding. And, all while she attempts to understand her longing for Lief.
I rarely highlight specific quotes from novels. However, I couldn’t resist as the following is such a touching spotlight on Crimson’s motivations and desire for belonging.
“Thinking back, she had always admired the flowers that managed to thrive in the barest of conditions; the dandelions that forced their way between the cracks in pavements, the low creeping vines that insisted on giving walls a splash of vibrant green. Seeing plants that no one wanted revel in being what they were and not just surviving, but thriving against the odds, gave her the strength to keep going whenever she felt like an outsider.”
Although it was my pleasure to receive this free ARC from the author, it was completely my choice to share my honest review.
From the start, Crimson has doubted herself, as well as her feelings for Leif. In this book she agrees to make her best friend’s wedding dress. As if this wasn’t stressful enough, she takes on far more of the wedding organisation and things start to take their toll.
At the end of the last book, Crimson believed that Leif was involved with another woman and started to avoid him. This book finds us wondering if they will ever just talk to one another about their feelings!
It’s fair to say that nothing is ever straightforward when it comes to this couple, but the pace of their romance does pick up and perhaps things can work out for them after all?
The wedding storyline provides lots of laughter and this was SUCH an enjoyable read. This book is definitely for you if you like cosy stories, slow burn romance with lots of lighter, funny moments.
As we have learned in the first two books in this series, Crimson has difficulty saying no! So when her best friend Ayla asks Crimson to make her wedding dress, she not only says yes but takes on the entire organisation of the wedding. This soon proves to be too much and things start going wrong. Just add to the mix the fact that Crimson is brilliant at jumping to the wrong conclusion - for example; she is totally convinced that Lief has taken up with another woman, which actually is not true, and you know that she is in a lot of trouble of her own making! Just as in the first two books, I found myself almost shouting at Crimson to stop being so insecure (one of the things which makes me realise that a book is good is when I become totally involved with the characters as I did this time!). Once again, a great book from Gemma Clatworthy! I received an ARC copy of this book, and my review is genuine (in fact, I would have bought it anyway!).
I got this as an ARC reader and my opinions are my own!
I have loved all the stories in this series and this doesn't fail to live up to the others. I really enjoy the missed opportunities and the doubt, but at least she does find out Leif's woman is his sister and not a rival for her affections. Does she actually manage to get back with him though? You will have to read it to find out. I love the banter, the humour, the friendship and the fact that Crimson really needs to loosen up and has no idea what so ever how to do that, but maybe she will find out, then again, Crimson is a control freak and asking for help is not in her repertoire. This is a story that's easy to curl up and relax, while you read about the going's on and imagine yourself in her place, seeing the cottage, the dress and of course the sexy Leif.
This was good and a pleasent conclusion but I am a tad bit dissapointed on the romance. Part of the joy in the slowburn is the satisfaction when the characters get together and we witness the relationship, in this case the author chose to have it instead be the ending, and while not badly done, I feel a bit jipped. I want more of Leif and Crimson interacting as a couple, especially since a lot of this book revolved around another couple getting their happily ever after. Still, it was a nice cozy read and overall I was left with a happy feeling once finished.
this was a strong third entry in the Saffron Vale series, it had that element that I was looking for from the previous two books. The characters had that element that I was looking for and enjoyed the feel of this book. G Clatworthy was able to weave a strong storyline and was glad it was everything that I was wanting.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
A can’t miss book in a must-read series. The story is utterly charming, with phenomenal worldbuilding and fast-paced action. I loved the characters, and how they interacted and cared for each other, but most of all I loved the romance between Crimson and Lief and Lief’s big secret.
A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All of the above opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed this series, but even an idiot knows it polite to introduce your sister to your friends. That said, I just think that part of the plot was stupid. The rest of the series was cute and enjoyable.
Magic Magic everywhere !!! Romance, amazing friends, a wedding Extraordinaire!!! Dresses, food, music!!! Immerse yourself in the fun!!! I loved it, you will too!!!
The third book in this trilogy and G. Clatworthy definitely did not disappoint. I love her beautiful, vivid and creatively magical world building skills. They keep you immersed in the story from the first page to the last word. The main characters Crimson, Ayla, and Leif are well developed and engaging. Their growth in the series is exceptional. I really enjoyed reading this story! A fantastic read!
This book picks up shortly after book 2 ends. Crimson has been ignoring Leif thinking he chose another woman over her. She is also in the thick of planning a wedding for Ayla and Maire Bowen. She will of course be making the dress, but she takes on a lot of the wedding planning to help Ayla. But this is no ordinary wedding! It is the event of the year and Crimson may be in over head. She will have to try to balance all the work with her personal life and feelings for Leif. I adore Crimson and think she is such a wonderful person. She is so selfless and caring, even when she puts her own health and happiness at risk. I just wish she wasn’t so dense! Sometimes I just wanted to pull my hair out when she wouldn’t ask what was going on. It’s a good thing Leif is so understanding and willing to look past all that. Plus, he makes her realize she needs to do more than just work. There is a big reveal to Crimson in this book as well. If you’ve read the first 2 books I’m sure you have an idea of what it is, but it’s done in the perfect way. I was so happy she finally ended up looking back and putting all the clues together. This is such a fun, cozy story. There are low stakes but lots of emotions. The wedding planning is the perfect plot for this book. There are moments where you wonder if it can all be done mixed in with humor of all the characters. Especially poor Ig, who is so awkward but so lovable. This was a perfectly cozy fantasy read.
