I liked the main character, Ryder.
A lot of unnecessary information/events that made the book much longer than it should have been. At the same time didn’t give enough detail or spend enough time on the important things. Made it quite skim-able.
Page after page, chapters were spent with human Ryder and his daughter doing mundane things together and a page here or there of Ryder and his love interest interacting.
This felt like a story of Ryder’s life and meeting and growing his relationship with the daughter he never knew he had.
Did not feel like a vampire romance. The vampire (love interest) character isn’t introduced until 24% and it isn’t confirmed until 50%. They spend a few scenes together after that point and then the M word gets mentioned (mates), never spoken about again and then the book is over as a HFN. There is a sequel following the same couple so I get why things are being left there but I’m not interested in going on.

This was such a fun read! I absolutely devoured it. An urban paranormal MM romance, say less. This is the perfect spooky season read. The twists and turns were great, and I totally didn’t see the protagonist coming! This book had me engaged from the opening scenes all the way through, I could not put it down! I loved the authentic relationships throughout, especially between Ryder and Hannah.
I will forever continue to read anything Destiny writes, as her writing is just so captivating.

DNF. I really struggled to get into this and didn’t even make it to 20%. I just didn’t care about the daughter storyline especially with no vampire in sight.

When I found out that this book was on audio, I was all for it. I’ve never heard of Justin and man, he nailed it. I normally don’t listen to audiobooks when I’m at home, so that tells you a whole lot.
I really loved this paranormal romance. It definitely will keep you on your toes from the suspense of what is to come.
When Ryder leaves Las Vegas to go back home to Salem when he gets some life altering news, I knew this was only the beginning of his future. I wasn’t much of a fan of his ex in the beginning but she sort of grew on me. Erin’s husband I absolutely loved. He was such a cinnamon roll and just so much fun.
I loved the name Carlos for the puppy. I died laughing at his little puppy shenanigans.
When Ryder does discover that his boss is a vampire, things get interesting for the two of them. I’m a sucker for a man calling his parter “love” and I was swooning every single time Jams called him that. This book hit all the feels.
I really need to start the next book because I need to know what happens next. I know the second book is only going to make me eager for more to what’s going to happen, especially with the new employee.

This was such a wonderful book! I kept turning pages to see what was going to happen next. Such a surprise ending I never saw that coming!
Can’t wait for the next book to come out! I hope Raleigh and Angel make a appearance in the next book also.

Cheating is not my thing. Even if broken up, you know they are getting back together. Almost stopped reading it there.
I also don’t like reading about one main chat hooking up with multiple people before meeting the other main character. Also kinda ruins a story for me.
Honestly this whole book was just off for me.

Ryder is happily singling and mingling but is seemingly becoming more attracted to the relationship aspect of life. An important part of his past turns up unexpectedly, pushing him towards the family life he never knew existed. This leads to a move, new job, a new boss, and a new love interest.
Ryder’s reputation as being the best bartender precedes him and he excels at his interview at Liz’s Bar. James becomes his boss and instantly becomes a focus for his wandering eye as well as other parts of his body. Ryder’s falling and he knows it. He’s petrified but giddy to be so. This new boss, James, definitely has something his previous conquests did not have. Needless to say, Ryder is eager to find out just what that might be.
Of course, James is only too delighted to become Ryder’s man of the moment. Ryder finds out that James isn’t only that but something he didn’t bargain for. James being a vampire does not deter Ryder in the slightest, their common interest seals after their first kitchen union. Can Ryder adapt to this drastically different lifestyle? It certainly seems as if he can!
The Vampire’s Kiss is a fabulous read with good worldbuilding and a smattering of hotness throughout. I’m keen to read the next story already and I can see that isn’t too long away.
I’m having to think hard to determine if there was something in particular which I didn’t enjoy throughout the story. If I’m honest…I didn’t warm to Dani much but maybe that was intentional and my spidey senses were on alert, lol. One other niggle was the use of the word ‘love’ in speech. *shivers* That’s probably just a personal ick.
Of course, the naughty scenes were much appreciated as well as the fleshing out (pun intended) of Ryder and James’ characters. Hannah was also a delight to read and don’t get me started on the puppy!
Ryder finds love in a place and the arms of someone he didn’t expect to. James attempts to dissuade Ryder from his investment but Ryder isn’t having any of that. He wants his man…vampire…whatever he is, and he wants him now! However, there’s someone who’s hell-bent on destroying their happiness. James is aware of this and tries to sort the issue even if Ryder is non-too-keen on his method of doing so. This person is a threat to their HEA and must be stopped!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Ryder and James’ story and their battle to be together. The flow of the author’s hand is excellent and keeps the reader interested along the way with the trials and tribulations of their journey to remain together. I am eager for the next book in the series to come to fruition as I need to know more about their story and their lives…especially Ryder’s!

The Vampire's Kiss by Destiny Booth is a fun, refreshing spin on the vampire trope.
For starters, the story begins in Vegas rather than a misty, gothic castle.
Eighteen years ago Ryder Clark decided to skip college and head west. He's an unrepentant pleasure seeker, a bartender at one of the hottest bars in town, gaining internet fame for his signature cocktail, The Vampire's Kiss.
Until the day a girl claiming to his daughter walks into his bar and everything changes. Heading home to Salem (yes, that Salem!) for the first time in decades, he slowly reestablishes a relationship with his ex, her husband, and the daughter he never knew. Along the way, he manages to get hired at the Liz, a bar with an intriguing owner named James.
The first part of the book is a delicious slow burn as Ryder gets to know his daughter and finds himself drawn to his mysterious boss.
I loved how Ryder and James circled each other, showing their interest, both slow to make the first move. When James refreshingly confesses the truth, the author has a lot of fun with Ryder questioning James: no, he doesn't sparkle -thanks Twilight; and waiting to be asked inside is just good manners. :)
There's a wonderful eroticism to their relationship which makes it worth the wait.
James goes into protective mode late in the book, which doesn't go well. There were a few events that surprised me - and I loved it!
Other things I liked: Ryder's relationship with his ex - it wasn't easy and that felt real; James' revelations of how he was a witness to history; the Salem setting which was genius!
I loved how this ended with them together, but with the promise of more adventure to come. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

I think I'm giving this 3.5 rounded up. This would be a solid 4 star read for me were it not for two things:
1) I felt a bit like I was reading a spinoff in the beginning. Are Raleigh and Angel characters from another book? Is there context I'm missing? It's my personal preference that I don't read a series with different couples in each book, or inter-connected series, or just reading authors where every book exists in the same world and other characters come up all the time. That's because I usually feel like too much time is spent on side characters, be it introducing them and setting them up for their own books or revisiting them and weaving in their epilogue with the new couple's story. And if I haven't read all the other books, I'm either missing too much context or there's too many side characters I'm uninterested in and not emotionally attached to. ANYWAY, rant aside, all that is to say I was a bit confused at first and was worried they'd play a bigger part and take away from the MCs, so I'm glad they didn't.
2) Some of the stuff with Hannah dragged. I don't like kids much, and I usually don't like to read about them. I admit I almost DNF'd when this book started out with unfamiliar characters and a surprise kid, you know? So the beginning half dragged just a little when most of the plot & conflict revolved around Hannah and Ryder's previous relationship with Erin. But I do love some bisexual rep. So overall it felt like half the book was primarily about Ryder and Hannah, while the other half was more about the relationship between James & Ryder. Don't get me wrong, I was still very interested in Ryder & Hannah's relationship. I was just surprised how much of the book revolved around that, I guess? But we get a second book for this couple and that's exciting to me.

I really enjoyed this book, the vibes were great and I loved the world it was set in.
Ryder is a bartender who moves back to Salem after 13 years of living and working in Las Vegas. James is Ryder's new boss at the bar that he's been hired at, but he's also a vampire. Ryder and James can both feel the pull to each other as soon as they meet. Both try to resist it a bit, being boss and employee, but they can't do that for too long.
I really enjoyed all their little almost kiss moments. When they finally got together things were explosive, and I really enjoyed it! But weird things keep happening and James figures out that he's being hunted. James feels like the best way to protect Ryder is to take a step back, but that just makes both of them miserable. In the end they find out who has been hunting him, which is a bit of a surprise!
I really enjoyed James and Ryder together. So far Ryder has been the type to not open his heart and not be in a relationship, but James makes him want to change that. I'm glad he takes a chance on James, even if there are some growing pains. James helps him discover that he likes praise and I really enjoyed that. James was such a protector, putting Ryder above himself.
They didn't have much time together, so I'm hoping that we will get more of that in book 2.

I enjoyed the introduction of Ryder and the bar seemed like great fun, his friendship with Raleigh & Angel - those two seemed interesting, curious if a book for them. But its a lot of setup and I must admit I wondered if I'd read the wrong synopsis or something, also why introduce characters for hook up. Connor seemed like great fun and intriguing, I forgot he wasn't the love interest mentioned in the synopsis.
Anyway the introduction of the surprise daughter, was just not really for me but also it has spent so much time setting up Ryders love of Vegas and his job along with friendships. That him returning to the home, he said he hated for his daughter who is 17 seemed random... I'd get if she was young, but she is older and while lovely for them to develop relationship. It seems ed a lot for him to get up and travel back - where if anything like her parents, she be running off on travels/college soon anyway 🤷😂
It simply didn't feel necessary and I guess I was disappointed as already got attached to initial setting and cast, I simply don't care to see what happens next. Maybe I'll come back to at another time, just wasn't the best set up for me...

I tugged his hips forward until they pressed against mine.’
Ryder left Salem years ago, after a break-up, and found himself a new home and job with wonderful friends. When a surprise from his past shows up unexpectedly, he realizes he has a commitment that must be taken care of, so returns to Salem, where another surprise is waiting.
James find himself attracted to his new bartender, but recognizes his very long past, where dangerous hunters still attempt to find him, may not be safe for his mate.
James and Ryder appear to have a connection that could prove deadly for both of them in Destiny Booth’s fabulous book one, The Vampire’s Kiss. This is a series I am looking forward to following- Neon Moonlight!

Adorable playboy Ryder never sleeps with the same person twice. He moves back to his hometown in Salem, Mass It turns out his hot boss is actually a sexy vampire and so he decides to give relationships a try while he’s on this trying-new-things kick. Things start going wrong around the bar and they eventually work out that vampire hunters are after him. Their third-act breakup is all about the vampire MC trying to “protect” the human MC by staying away, but when the culprits finally show their hand, it’s up to the human MC I think the rest of the series is going to be interesting to see how these people grow closer together, but the first book definitely ends in a place where it’s not a cliffhanger, it’s a natural conclusion to the story, and you could even imagine an HEA if you didn’t want to read more. Those are my preferred type of series starters, so props for that.

Ok I was completely oblivious that this book is connected to Lips Of An Angel🤦🏻♀️ It wasn’t until like chapter four or five that it dawned on me who Ryder was 🙈
In my defense, I ARCed LOAA without knowing about this series so it took me by surprise. And now I’m mad I didn’t know about this series sooner😩
I’ve been missing out on a fantastic story! I love everything vampire, especially when they’re so sexy and hot.
I loved Ryder and James together. Though I was a bit irked by James being so protective that he was willing to be away from Ryder. I’m glad Ryder stood his ground and didn’t give in.

I loved Ryder and James together. Though I was a bit irked by James being so protective that he was willing to be away from Ryder. I’m glad Ryder stood his ground and didn’t give in.

Finding out he has a daughter, Ryder Clark, the best bartender in Los Vegas, returns to Salem, Massachusetts to get to know her. James, the owner of the new bar he works at, is a vampire.
This is an insta attraction, age gap story. The chemistry between the pair is hot, the sex scenes Kindle meltingly hot. There's a subplot about a vampire hunter, a little bit of danger for the main characters. Some angst, as Ryder is a commitment phobe.
Good world building, original story line. Caught my interest from the first chapter. Unfortunately it's a HFN ending with the next book in about a year. Which I do not like, I try to avoid those types of gaps.
Will I read the next in series? Of course. Might need to reread this one first to remember the storyline.

Ryder has spent the majority of his adult life as a bartender in Las Vegas. He loves his life but has never been one for commitment. Suddenly, something happens that radically changes his life and he decides to move back home, to Salem, MA. He interviews for a job at a local bar and gets it, but also starts crushing madly on his boss James. James is a vampire, and we come to learn he is being hunted.
The Vampires Kiss is told solely from Ryder's point of view, which I typically do not like - but in this story, it worked ok. I would have loved to have James' POV, but the lack of it didn't take away from the story for me. This was a well written story, there were tender moments and spicy moments, together with a great plot! This is book one, and the second book The Vampires Mate comes out on 10/1!

This book was perfect for the spooky season read. I haven't read anything by Rae Simmons before, but I will for sure be reading more by them. I really enjoyed everything from the characters to the plot and was excited for book two!
Ryder and James, where to even begin. I loved the budding relationship these two had. Vampire and human, both different from each other, yet I felt that they complimented each other so well. The spice between them was Hot. I will say I am definitely looking forward to them exploring the relationship more in book two.
Overall, I throughly enjoyed this book and will be reading the second book. This time of the year I love to read anything with spooky romance, it fills a need to read it. If your looking for an MM vampire romance then this is the book for you!

What an adventure!
I liked that this felt like a mix of genres - part urban fantasy, part contemporary MM romance, part family fiction. Ryder is certainly his own person and I enjoyed getting to know him and to see him get together with his vampire. I would have liked to have had more of the romance aspect in this book. This book also introduced us to Raleigh and Angel - I wish they had their own book as I'm very much intrigued by their story. We meet Hannah - Ryder's daughter that shows up as a surprise in Ryder's life when she's 17yo. Ben was a fun side character, thank goodness, as he tempers Erin, who I didn't like despite having some empathy for her.
Over all, this was a fun book and I look forward to getting that romance in the next book.

This was a sweet story which became tedious with both of their problems giving reasons to not commit to each other. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Ryder left home at twenty-two and never looked back until his past caught up with him and he found out that he had a daughter. His life takes an unexpected turn when he starts working for James, his new boss, who happens to be a vampire. Despite their challenges, Ryder is drawn to James, and their relationship becomes more complicated when an unknown threat targets them. Ryder ultimately confronts his past and matures in the face of these challenges. There are so many twists and turns in this book that you can't help but keep reading it. It's witty, romantic, with some angst, and their sexy times are hot. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.

Ugggh I’m so sad I have to wait for a book 2! But, this book was a great set up, it’s the first paranormal book I’ve read from Destiny and I’m feeling the vibe. I have just started reading Destiny’s books and one thing the I love (but it’s also sometime hard lol), is how real she writes her characters. There is no automatic happy ending. Her characters have to work for it, and honestly I can appreciate that. I can’t wait to read how Ryder and James relationship will turn out in the next book, because there was a lot of angst before they fully got together in this book.

This is a 4/5 for me. It is about Ryder, a human, and James, a vampire. When I started reading this book I thought it was going to be boring. But I am glad to say I was wrong. James is a carefree bartender not looking to commit. But then has a life altering event and moves back to his hometown. He gets a job bartending. James is his boss and the two men are instantly attracted to each other. Ryder is still working on his issues and it turns out someone is trying to kill James. He is a vampire and that is something that concerns Ryder. Will the two men have a chance to find happiness?

This book was single POV which isn't my favourite, but I loved it. This book had so much, but nothing felt unnecessary. I binged this book in one night as I had to know how it concluded. It is definitely slow burn we don't even meet James until fairly far into the book.

This was a decent story, but I had a hard time getting into it at first. I found myself looking to see if there was a story about Raleigh and Angel, because they caught my attention, and I really wanted to read about them. Once Ryder and James met, the story seemed to flow a little better, and the distraction level dropped so I was able to concentrate on them. Worth the read once, but not one I'd go back and read again. The little twist at the end was surprising. I'll read the next book, hopefully it will be a little better now that I have some form of vested interest in these characters.

The first third of the book set the stage for an entire world of possibilities and unexpected twists. Even now Im full of questions and I’ve already finished the first book.
There are too many specific details mentioned for them not to be relevant in some way! But Rae is a master storyteller and will throw things in that you think are important but turn out to be red herrings! Either way Im away to start book two to find out!

Ryder is a bartender in Vegas who after 17 years finds out he has a daughter, Hannah. He uproots his life to move back to Salem to be with her and then falls for his new boss, James. Who is a vampire! Ryder has a hard time committing, it's just his way. James is protective and possessive. It ends with a HFN but will be continued in the Vampire's Mate. I received a copy of this book and this is my voluntary opinion.

WOW!!! That was... Hott? Amazing?
Ryder is perfect! I love him so incredibly much! James is so sweet to him, to everyone really (except maybe Luke haha)! Double Trouble, I definitely need a book or 3 for them haha! I love the twist that comes from Hannah, she really changed Ryder's whole outlook on life for the better! This book is really hott and sweet and I definitely didn't cry at all....
