A fun and fascinating way to learn about the book of Revelation.

The Bible’s final book, Revelation, can seem intimidating or downright

straightforward, easier-to-digest biblical material. Yet the capstone of the
canon need not remain a mystery.

In this refreshingly accessible book, Bible scholar and best-selling author
Tim LaHaye (originator of the Left Behind series) and renowned puzzle master
Timothy E. Parker (editor of the USA
Today
Crossword, and founder of The Universal Crossword, King James
Games, and Master Puzzles) demystify Revelation for your benefit.

The New Testament Book of Revelation is for me one of the most perplexing parts of the Bible. Is it prophecy or science fiction? Is it a harbinger of the so-called "end times" or a vision of the glory of God in heaven? As an Episcopalian I opt for it being a vision of the glory of God in heaven, but its bold imagery and vivid descriptions of the lamb and blood, dragons and harlots, Satan and angels, kingdoms and thrones make it puzzling at best and completely daunting at worst.

I have to admit I was bit leery about buying and reading this book, since it was written by Tim LaHaye of "Left Behind" fame and Timothy Parker, a USA Today puzzle master. I was concerned it may be far too evangelical for my taste, but my quest to know more about the Book of Revelation superseded these concerns. I need not have worried. It is actually a very readable explanation of this very confounding piece of scripture.

The authors divide each chapter of Revelation into small pieces, each of which is preceded and followed by a three-question multiple choice quiz. The authors insist this will help readers remember the content months later. I found the quizzes distracting. But in between the quizzes, the authors present the biblical text and an explanation of the text's content, including the symbols and imagery.

This book is enlightening, easy to understand and a fascinating exploration of a fairly complex part of the Bible. And it's a really fast and easy read, which is surprising considering the topic.

Too Basic

It seemed to me that he took some of what is written in Revelations too literally. From my understanding, revelations is very symbolic in nature. It seems that because he did not know the meaning of some of the symbolism he interpreted it literally. There were also times when he failed to explain or interpret symbols. It was like he didn’t know the meaning of it, so he just skipped over it hoping no one would notice. I’m not satisfied.

Reading the book of Revelation can, at the least, be intimidating to a lot of people. I know for me that was the case. So when I saw this book, I knew that I had to read it. First of all, one of the authors, Tim LaHaye is a teacher of scripture that I highly respect. His impressive body of work over the years, in my opinion, makes him an authority in this matter. I was not disappointed.

The Book of Revelation Made Clear – is very unique in the way that it is structured. We are asked by the authors to “work through” the book in a specific way. Each section begins with a three question multiple choice quiz (do worry, you aren’t being graded!). From there, they break out portion – in order – of the Scripture, just as it is written (New King James Version). Following that is a precise explanation of what the preceding scripture means. Then the same three quiz questions are asked again. All of this is done to help us to retain much of what we read.

This book was fascinating to read; I really didn’t want to put it down. The explanations were so clear to me. I am thankful to have been able to read it. I urge you to pick up this book and read it for yourself - you won’t be disappointed.

About the Author’s:
Dr. Tim LaHaye is president of Tim LaHaye Ministries and founder of the Pre Trib Research Center. He has written more than sixty non-fiction books. Dr. LaHaye holds a D.Min. degree from Western Theological Seminary and the Doctor of Literature degree from Liberty University. He and his wife, Beverly, have been married more than sixty-five years.

Puzzle master Timothy E. Parker is Senior Crossword Puzzle Editor of USA Today Crosswords and the “World’s Most Syndicated Puzzle Compiler,” according to Guinness World Records. Parker is the founder of the television show Bible Brilliant and constructs crosswords, word searches, anagrams, cryptograms, mazes, column raises, slide-n-solves, the Japanese games Sudoku and Kakuro, hangman, and a mass array of trivia and original games.

Tim LaHaye & Timothy E. Parker in their new book, “The Book of Revelation Made Clear” published by Thomas Nelson Publishers brings us A Down-to-Earth Guide to Understanding the Most Mysterious Book of the Bible.

From the back cover: A fun and fascinating way to learn about the book of Revelation.

The Bible’s final book, Revelation, can seem intimidating or downright impossible to comprehend, even for serious students of the Scriptures.

Revelation is the only book of The Bible that tells us it comes with a blessing for reading it. Yet, most people shy away from reading it because the imagery that it contains seems to be very difficult to understand. Tim LaHaye & Timothy E. Parker give us an easy comprehensive study to teach us that Revelation was written to give us an understanding of what will happen in the future. believers who were facing persecution and hostility from the ruling culture. At the beginning of each chapter you will find a short pre- quiz dealing with the outlined Scripture, where you are given the opportunity to test of knowledge of the verses involved. The questions are followed by the scriptures that pertains to them and then a precise explanation of what that scripture means. Finally the same three questions are repeated but with the answers provided. Tim LaHaye & Timothy E. Parker have given us an easy way to read and understand the final book of The Bible. It also aids in getting us the blessing as it gives us the ability to sit down and read the book in its entirety. I recommend this book highly.

I have to admit that the very first time I read the Book of Revelation, when I was in junior high, it scared me. Between the symbolism & End Times prophecy, I was more than a little alarmed. Back then, unfortunately, there weren’t nearly as many great resources available to understand what I was reading.
Thankfully, this generation won’t have the same issue. Tim LaHaye has become a well-known name to millions of Christians due to his ‘Left Behind’ series. Emerging as the go-to for End Times research, many folks have turned to him for clarification of the Book of Revelation. Personally, I’ve read that entire series plus we’re big fans of all 3 ‘Left Behind’ movies.
Joining him in this work is Timothy E. Parker, a noted ‘Puzzle Master’. Together they have created a verse-by-verse resource to aid in further understanding of the Book of Revelation. What makes this work unique is its examination of each & every verse of Revelation. I’ve seen works examining symbolism & the book as a whole, but this is the first time I’ve seen each verse done.
Each explanation is perfectly worded to where it’s not ‘talking down’ to readers & yet not over our heads either. Even after three decades of being a Christian & having read it many times, there were many points that I had either misunderstood or skipped altogether. I definitely came away with a better understanding.
For an extra benefit, there are 77 master quizzes included. Groups of three questions are presented to the reader, then the answers. Multiple choice format is used & then all the answers are immediately explained. Homeschoolers: this is a great tool for you! My junior high aged son was able to read & comprehend without a problem.
Even if you’ve read the Book of Revelation hundreds of times, give this one a try & see it through new eyes. I highly recommend it if you’re a newer Christian or student. I wish I’d had it before I read Revelation the very first time. Five stars!
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.

The book of Revelation in the Bible is usually seen as confusing at best. Some find it scary, others hopeful, and some even think it's just one large analogy instead of actual events. Wherever the reader finds themselves on the spectrum doesn't matter when reading this book. Because I had read other reviews on the book before starting, I was prepared for the setup and features of each chapter. The authors literally break down the entire book of Revelation by verse and then give their interpretations on what it means. Included throughout the book are pre-quizzes that open each chapter and the answers to the quiz can be found at the very end of each chapter. The quizzes weren't hard - they tested what you know (or thought you knew) about the verses that would be discussed in that chapter. It was interesting to see how wrong I was when I had finished reading the scripture and the interpretations. I think the quizzes helped to show misguided thoughts and information about the scripture while also making sure the reader knew the correct answers to each question. The interpretations given by the author were done in very easy terms - it wasn't like being preached at or attending a kind of lecture. They were brief but held a ton of information about the symbolism being used and the actual meaning behind the verses. I have struggled with reading the book of Revelation for several years, mostly because I didn't know what was symbolism and what was real - but this book broke it down into easy to digest pieces that left nothing to question. I know I'll be referring back to this book many times in the future as I re-read the final book of the Bible. Very highly recommended for those who have any sort of issue with the book of Revelation - be it confused, frightened, or just completely mind boggling - as well as for those who want a deeper look at the scripture and a better understanding of what is being said.

This is a truly great book to have in any Christian Library and I am so happy I was selected by Booklook bloggers to review it. This is a true study in that you will be asked some questions before you get the answers and it is written in such a way that it takes you step by step through Revelations.

If you are like me, I need a ton of help with this book of the bible, it has always confused me and I have avoided reading it because of my lack of understanding.

This book is long over due, and I am so very happy it was written and that I got to read it. My understanding of the book of revelations has much improved and I am going to read it again and again untill I get all the questions right the first time.

This is the kind of book you want to really spend time with and digest, its not to be rushed and its going to be so helpful to you in finely understanding revelations.

This is how its written.
first you are asked some questions, than you will read a passage of the scripture, than you read what you just read means, than you will see the questions again with the correct answers next to them. It is really wonderful for someone who really likes a good study and likes to learn all they can from the Bible.

This book would make for a wonderful gift or for book club to read, I just cant say enough about it its so well done and so helpful and so easy to understand. I hope you give it a try soon every Christian should have this book in their library. Thanks for reading my review
I was send a free copy to read and review but my opinions are my own

This book is for ANYONE who needs help understanding the book of revelation! There are few people that I have met who truly understand the book of Revelation. I am one of those who do not understand it all.

I have received a book to review from BookLook Bloggers and am very thankful for it!

Tim LaHaye is an author that I have read several books from. Mainly from The Left Behind series. LOVED those books! He joins up with Timothy E. Parker to teach everyone about the book of Revelation in the Bible.

Each chapter relates to a chapter out of Revelation. It starts out asking questions with multiple choice answers. After that each answer is shown with a Bible verse and then explained, and the correct answers are given.

The book also includes tables that help to explain several details of Revelation. I found them to be easy to understand and helpful to the content.

This book would be great to do as a group study or just to read as devotions in the morning, as I did. The Book of Revelation Made Clear is a book that will stay on my book shelves for sure!

I recommend this book to all! If you have any desire to search for the knowledge that the Lord blesses or if you just want to have some questions answered and understand things more clearly, this book is for you!

If you are like me and always wondered about the book of Revelations and all the mysterious things that you don't quite understand then this is the book to purchase and read. My kids often have asked me questions about revelations also.

In this book you will find before every chapter a pre-quiz to take to see how much you know then you read the scripture, read what it means and then check your quiz with the answers provided {includes 77 master quizzes}.
This book is so easy to comprehend and to enjoy, you do not need to be a biblical scholar to understand.

I decided to read the book out loud to my children and do the before chapter quizzes together in homeschool as a revelations bible study!
This has turned out to be a blessing to us as we learn about revelations.

I recommend this book to everyone who wants to learn more about the mysterious book of the Bible.

The book of Revelations promises a blessing from the Lord Most High to anyone who reads it and takes it to heart.

May you be blessed by the Lord.

I forgot to add this book when I started it. When one studies the book of Revelation, I believe that it is important to read and study many sources in order to best understand it. There is a lot of symbology in this last book of the Bible and there are some differences of opinions in understanding certain things, such as exactly when the rapture takes place or when the events of the tribulation take place. I hold to the idea that the rapture takes place prior to the events of the tribulation, which to my knowledge, is what mainstream Christianity believes. But one must study as much as possible and draw your own conclusions. This book, "The Book of Revelation Made Clear..." was one of many books I was reading simultaneously, as I went through Revelation, chapter by chapter, including the NLT Bible, the NLT Life Application Bible (with LOTS of footnotes), The Book of Revelation Made Clear, Halley's Bible Handbook, and Lewis Sperry Chafer's Systematic Theology. The more sources you pull from, the better, I believe. The book at hand, here, is really nice because LaHaye seeks to simplify the book of Revelation, and I believe, he does a great job of it.

Here is an excerpt from my review: "Before each verse passage, there is also a three-question multiple choice quiz to see what you know or don't know about Revelation, and then the answers to those questions are reviewed after the explanation of the verses. The authors say they do this for maximum learning and retention potential. They write that readers may be able to review the quizzes months or years later and still know the answers. I looked at some of the quizzes again a few days after reading them, and I still got some of the answers wrong. But how important is it that I know how John described Jesus' hair? Isn't the more important thing that I understand the basic message of Revelation, that if I don't follow God now, I won't be saved and life is really going to suck on Earth for a long time."

A very clear and concise explanation of the most hard to understand book in the Bible. The book is set up with a number of quizzes to help the reader understand and retain the information being given. The Scriptures are explained in a very easy and relatable way. The authors also cross-reference scriptures from other books of the Bible to help explain passages, or to give validity to their interpretation. I recommend this book to anyone who has ever had trouble understanding the book of Revelation.

Though I would have preferred a different translation of the Bible for the Bible text, I enjoyed the format of verses, then explanation. The question answer parts I felt were extraneous and though they said they helped with memory, I felt it did not even help for memory a week later, so I ended up just skipping over those. But, the rest of it was very good. I feel like I have a better understanding of this part of the Bible.

Cassandra's review- The book is filled with quizzes. The book is an easy to understand break down of the book of Revelation and it is perfect for a bible study group or for school children. Most people do not bother to read the Bible because it is hard to understand so books like these are always fun to come by.

This book is truly a source of inspiration! I have never read the book of Revelation with such clarity as it was written. I love the questions and then the answers given as well as the explanation of the verses quoted. I have been a believer in Jesus a long time and this book inspired me in my faith and my longing to see my Jesus return!

A basic introduction to the book of Revelation. Would be good for those who haven’t read it before or know nothing about it. Didn’t like the lay out / style with pre-chapter questions. You either know or don’t know the answers so either way you skim read that bit. Good reference material to dip into for questions on specific verses.
