The day hot-headed Abby Carter blows up her carefully curated life in Chicago, she takes a pair of scissors to her too-small Spanx. If she's walking out on the advertising career she once loved, she's going to be comfortable doing it. Was she too hasty? That's her first thought after her epic departure from Cromby, Pillar and Sax. So, sitting on a park bench outside the company's offices, she messages her ride-or-die friends, the Leading Ladies.
Abby's heart returns to its normal rhythm when the Leading Ladies tell her she's done the right thing. Come home to Logan's Creek, they tell her, where they're all waiting. Her spirits lift; she is, after all, a small-town girl, and the big city has worn her down. But then she remembers she hasn't told her laidback boyfriend (no labels) Ian, who looks like actor Liam Hemsworth, if Liam were better looking. Through a series of misunderstandings, she and Ian part ways. (Ian can be clueless, and there's Abby's temper to deal with, so what can I say?)
When she returns to Logan's Creek, she runs into her first love, Josh. He's too handsome for his own good, and he knows it. But in the decade since Abby left town, he's not been able to forget her. Not that he hasn't given a trove of women a chance. Josh, with his dimples and dark eyes, likes the ladies as much as they like him.
Josh is running for mayor. Abby needs a job, so the two make a deal. Abby will run his campaign. A win/win, right? Not so fast. The current mayor is as crooked as a corkscrew, and is willing to do anything to win. If that means undermining Josh and threatening Abby to step away from the campaign, then so be it.
In the meantime, Ian decides Abby means more to him than he realized. And maybe, just maybe, their casual arrangement wasn't the best idea. He shows up in Logan's Creek, intent on winning her back. He may even be willing to commit. Stranger things have happened. Abby, however, just might be falling back in love with Josh. She already loves his family, shares his values, and her parents still invite him over on holidays.
As much as Abby wants to figure out her love life (#tornbetweentwolovers), there's a bigger problem. If the current mayor wins reelection, it could be terrible for Logan's Creek. So she puts romance on the back burner, recruits the Leading Ladies to help shake up the electorate, and runs across an anonymous blogger who writes laugh-out-loud gossip about the town.
As the election draws near, Abby tries to concentrate on messaging, and town hall meetings. But that darn heart of hers keeps flip-flopping.
Will she end up with Josh? (#loganscreekforever) Or will she return to Chicago with Ian? (#hestoosexyforhisshirt) How do you choose between the homecoming king and the man who can make you forget your own name with just the touch of his fingertips?
I had fun with this! This small town political drama gave it that cozy mystery vibe. Wasn’t expecting a love triangle but thought it was done really well. I appreciate the friend group that Abby had. You could tell they were all diverse but at the core wanted to push each other forward!
I loved this book! Relatable characters and all the small town nuances you could imagine. Loved the storyline and way the author wove the relationships with small town values and traditions. The mystery kept me looking for clues of who, what, and when! Looking forward to more from this Small Town Somewhere author!
LOVED this book! The author's writing is easy to read yet captivating. I couldn't stop reading. It has just the right amount of romance. And the friendships are fabulous. Can't wait for the next book!
A fun, small-town read with the feel-good vibes of a Hallmark Christmas story. Immerse yourself in the lives of the leading ladies as they solve a mystery and affect the outcome of an important mayoral race.
I really enjoyed this read! The characters were great and make you want to know more about them. It had a great mix of romance and a mystery along the way!
A Small Town Somewhere is a big time hit! With all the contentious events happening in our world, this book was a nice break for my brain and my heart. I loved getting to know all the characters introduced, and really enjoyed getting to know Abby, the main character. She is just an everyday gal that many can relate to and her love triangle is one that I'm sure many have experienced in one way or another. The author did such a great job including little specific descriptions such as Abby's fruit roll-up obsession, that you can't help but love her. We get an answer to her love triangle which I appreciated that closure, but also left with the anticipation of finding out what is going to happen next in Logan's Creek and who the focus will be on. This is a nice, cozy, light read that hit all the right notes.
Absolutely loved this! The character of Abby had me hooked from the very first page! She’s so fierce and fun and knows exactly what she’s doing. She’s like your typical powerhouse woman from a hallmark movie who goes back to her small town and that is a trope I’ll forever love! The cast of characters were fun and relatable. There were so many parts that made me genuinely laugh out loud! There was mystery, scandal, friendship & love triangle too! This was just all around a fun enjoyable read & I look forward to more from Foliart!

Deborah Spencer Foliart did a wonderful job depicting small town life in America. The people in the novel feel like people from my own town. There were many times I chuckled at the familiarity on the pages in front of me. And while I firmly backed the wrong candidate for Abby's heart, the political intrigue of the plot kept me invested regardless of my choice in suitor not being the chosen man.
If you live in a small town, this cute, wholesome, homey read is one for your TBR!
A delightful mix of romance, humor, and small-town drama! Abby's journey from city life to Logan's Creek is heartwarming and relatable. The love triangle with Josh and Ian keeps you hooked, while the political intrigue adds an exciting twist. With charming characters, witty dialogue, and a touch of gossip, this book is a feel-good read perfect for romance lovers. Highly recommend!
A Mayoral Race. Romance. Mystery. Twists and turns. These are all things that you can expect when going to pick up A Small Town Somewhere. All wrapped up a pretty bow laced in small town southern charm. It’s unlike any other book of its kind that I’ve read. Please do yourself a favor and pick this one up!
This was such a great small town romance read with a hint of mystery/suspense. I wish we all had a girl gang like the Leading Ladies and two handsome fellas like Ian and Josh! I can’t wait to see which Leading Lady will be in the next book of the Logan’s Creek series!
