I love the amazing story of Sasha's betrayl and suffering, how she got to be the "grump" she is today. In real life, she is actually a kind, loving mother who has suffered so much loss, she cannot feel the same way.

The only other place I've ever been happy.

It's incredibly obvious that Erin Hunter's Into the Woods, the first in the Tigerstar and Sasha manga series was written well after the original novels. It's also worth noting that this book has an entirely different writer, Dan Jolley. And he doesn't exactly fit in with the seven authors who write under the penname Erin Hunter. As exciting as it was to delve into the world of the Warriors manga, there are some serious continuity issues with this first book.

Sasha's Journey

Into the Woods follows a housecat, Sasha, who escapes into the wood when one of her elderly housefolk dies and the other is sent to live in a nursing home where Sasha would not be allowed. She soon happens upon Tigerstar, who leads Shadowclan. He teaches her the ways of the forest and the clan cats who live there. And it isn't long until Sasha finds herself falling for the powerful cat.

But she doesn't know everything about Tigerstar and his past. Unfortunately, Sasha's entirely unprepared for the truth of his treachery and thirst for power.

A Catmance and Continuity issues

Honestly, Sasha's story with Tigerstar is cute. It's a wonderful story to follow and I loved seeing cats I'd already read about illustrated for me. However, the story runs into a lot of problems when you consider what you know of the series as a whole. And that's not even considering how confusing it is for new readers unfamiliar with the rest of the series.

You see, Tigerstar doesn't show a lot of his power-hungry feelings to Sasha. In fact, without prior knowledge of his villainy, he's just a bland cat who protects Sasha and freaks out once he finds out she's originally from a "twoleg" home. Sure, he saves her when the foxes attack. But does that really justify his utter hatred of where she comes from? Unfortunately, new readers can chock this up a character flaw that he could grow from. Thus, Sasha later finding out the truth definitely would feel like it comes out of left field.

I also find it thoroughly unlikely that he'd stay attached to a cat he supposedly fell for after learning she's a "kittypet." Knowing Tigerstar from the prior books, it's very difficult to accept that he'd look past her kittypet heritage. Thus, it seems rather uncharacteristic of him that he continues to spend time with her once he finds out. Frankly, I think he'd be much more likley to simply abandon her.

Continuity Continued

Unfortunately, this isn't the only continuity issue we run into. In addition, readers are also introduced to a vague understanding of who Firestar is in this novel. But, if we're operating on the true timeline of this graphic novel--namely, before Tigerstar sets a pack of dogs on Thunderclan--then Firestar would still be Fireheart. Bluestar was still leading Thunderclan prior to the dog attack.

As a result, the big reveal to Sasha regarding Tigerclaw comes off more irritating than emotional. I found it difficult to care about the moment because I was too annoyed that the timeline wasn't matching. And, in general, this is a pretty good book. But those continuity problems? Man, did they really bring it down.

The Comic shows the sad story of the pet cat Sasha losing her home, when her owner dies.
She meets Tigerstar in the forest and falls in love with him, but as he tries to hire her for the war against the clans, she declines and leaves the forest. She lives with an old man on his boat for a while. Later she returns to the forest and finds out she is pregnant with Tigerstars kittens.
She raises them as best as she can, even joins the River Clan for their sake, but leaves the clan and leaves the kittens in the clans care.
An amazing story, but the dialogues didn´t show much emotions; they felt like spoken description of the situation. Also Tigerstar and Sasha didn´t spent a lot of time with each other/ Tigerstar didn´t have enough "screentime" to help the reader understand, why Sasha falls for him so hard, she keeps him in her heart forever.
The art wasn´t very well done. It looks more like high quality sketches, but the cats bodies are not very delicate and the faces are not as expressive as I saw it in other Warrior Cats comics.

It was a nice read to get a good and detailed idea about Tigerstar and Sasha, but I regard it as secondary literature to inform yourself.

I LOVE THIS SERIES. Tigerstar and Sasha is a really good book so far im only on page 19 but i think these books are good for someone who is bored and id list my favorite/most hated characters but im only in the beginning. My favorite event is when sasha took off her collar and became a rouge, the writing is pretty normal for the cats but for the twolegs (humans) it looks jagged and like a monster was speaking so i like the fact they made it look unique. The pace of the Graphic novel is slow and fast at times but most time its just regular speed. And the connections i can make is how the cats have their own territory and society like us humans and i think that gives the book/series a bit of pizazz.

This is the reason i love the warrior cats books It's kind of an escape from reality i suppose, so i recommend these books for someone who likes graphic novels and fiction. :)

This book shows a history of Warrior cats that no other book does. It is very good and it shows that Sasha is much more than what you see in the main books. I would recommend it for children aged 8+ who like fantasy, cats, bit of tragedy and mystery. It shows the importance of family.

I didn’t realize children’s art was an acceptable form for books these days.

While it is magical to have all 3 books in the Tigerstar and Sasha series together and colored (quite well, I might add), the art in this book is quite literally atrocious. Muscles bulged in these cats where none exist. Furthermore the facial features often didn’t match the situation the cats were in. Eyebrows would be scrunched sadly in a moment of joy, etc.

The writing style isn’t as good as the authors who take up Erin Hunter’s pen name usually do. As another comment wisely puts, “it’s like she’s forgotten quality over quantity”.

Warning: do not read this book if you haven't read other advanced books in the warriors series. I'm now reading Rising storms and I felt that I spoiled a lot of things by reading this manga :|
However, I liked the story of Sasha and I felt sympathized with her. There is a look of exciting parts in this book and a lot of unexpectedness.
I didn't feel the end was satisfying for me. But in general it's a really good book for those who love cats and read warriors books.

I really liked this series a lot! Excellent! The best part of the mangas are that you get a vision of how some of the cats look like, sometimes differently then you perhaps imagined them, but it's really awesome! Along with that, you get exclusive information about cats that was never mentioned before!:)

Great! Art is gorgeous for starters, especially in color. Sasha's perspective is really interesting, and I think the depiction of Twolegs in this book is shown more positively, which helps balance out their presence in the series. The story is fairly easy to follow, and the cameos are fun (like Pine/Pinestar)! In general, the book is really good and fits into canon well.

I just had to read this to have some background context on Hawk and Moth for TNP. The art is so terrible that it’s funny, not in a charming way, but in a “I’ll have plenty of reaction memes” way. The writing was also low, even for a warriors book. Yikes man. But because it is warriors, it gets one star by association.

This series is good for if you love Hawkfrost and Mothwing and wanted to know their past a little bit better. The style of this one is very different to other warriors manga I've read, so that might be a little off putting and at times it does look a little funny.

OMG! I never thought that Sasha's story could be this awesome, specially because I never imagined she could has such a tragic past. It broke my heart to see her lose her owners at the very begining and then fall in love with a cat like Tigerstar only to end up realizing who he really was. It was sad and realistic, and I felt sorry for her... oh and I also loved the art, of course!

I also loved the Captain's stoic personality at first and how he slowly changed his mind about cats, because he really loved Sasha and Patch (cool name for a boat cat). I supported Sasha's decision at the end and, even if it broke my heart, I really undertood it... but I'd love to read some little more about Patch someday cause he's too adorable too be forgotten this easily!

Aside that, Sasha went through so many difficult and awful things that she deserved a better ending than this! She deserved a place where she could belong with teammates who would help her no matter what. I also regret what happened with Tadpole and the farewell of the ending... it was sad and cruel! But I loved it anyway!
