Unfiltered: My Incredible Decade in Formula 1

Rate this book
Fasten your seatbelts as Formula 1's favourite underdog, Guenther Steiner, takes you on a wild ride through his ten years at Team Haas.

From the first seeds of his idea to establish a new F1 team to the challenges of funding and building that team from the ground up, Guenther shares the real story of the origins of Team Haas, immerses readers in the high and lows of its first decade on the grid, and opens up about his departure from the team at the end of 2023.

As Guenther recalls his proudest achievements and the many, many disasters he has faced, he takes readers into the boardrooms, pit lanes and garages, and out on to the circuits of the world's greatest race tracks. We spend time with drivers, mechanics, executives, sponsors, commentators and fans, and take in many private moments too, all the while grappling with the big challenges and small details that keep the wheels of a Formula 1 team turning.

Told in his inimitable style, packed with hugely entertaining stories, outspoken opinions and unvarnished truths, this is Guenther at his very best – insightful, opinionated and completely unfiltered.

Guenther is such a good storyteller. I love that the book was broken up into years vs one endless chronicle of the history of Haas. You have to listen to the audiobook (narrated by him) to get the full effect. He's just effortlessly funny and likeable. This ended way too quickly for me—now what? Guenther, we all know you're unemployed with nothing to do so chop chop let's get started on that third book!!!

The best. I’ve been an F1 fan for almost 5 years and found out about the sport from a friend, not Netflix. After watching some races and getting addicted, I turned to Netflix as well for a fix when it wasn’t Race Week.
It would be impossible to have that introduction to F1 and not know Guenther Steiner. I already knew what he brought to the sport in terms of personality, passion, and humor but I did not know the inside story on how Haas really got going and why they were so abysmal for a period.
This book shined a massive light on the creation of the team, maintaining the team, and a big reason behind their fall. It also gave “room where it happens” vibes regarding the FIA, powers that be, and all the natural drama that can occur within the most expensive sport in the world. Wildly entertaining to say the least and a must read (or listen with Guenther at the helm). I expected nothing less from such a guy.

A fantastic insight into the world of Formula one, and the goings on at Haas. The book had me laughing out loud at some moments, and I could hear Guenther’s voice and character, as I read each page.

W połączeniu z serialem z Netflixa o F1 i wyścigami, doskonale buduje wiedzę o tym sporcie i jeszcze bardziej nakręca mnie do kibicowania i śledzenia wydarzeń w Padoku F1. Lekki styl i sporo historii !! Polecam.

Fun quick read about a decade in F1 from someone who built a team from the ground up. Guenther's style of storytelling catches you and manages to keep you engaged to the story til the very end.
The book doesn't fall into technicalities and maintains a good pace with some swear words here and there and quite a bit of Guenther's humor.
Overall an enjoyable read for F1 fans like me that are more interested in the sport and want to know more.

“It’s amazing what some therapy and a truckload of foking tranquilizers can do”…FACTS

Guenther talks about his 10 years in Formula 1; from starting a team from scratch, all the way to his unceremonious departure at the end of 2023. Love hearing about the Haas F1 family.* He reads you the audiobook again, and it’s one of my favorite things to fall asleep to.

*except you Gene. Fuck you.

I will never not hear Guenther's unique voice when I read one of this books. Have to say though I didn't like this as much as Surviving to Drive. I did enjoy getting some more tea and backstory information. Surviving to Drive was just better done imo. Still enjoyable though and absolutely love Guenther! Such a rockstar :D

Super funny book and really goes into detail about the how he got to where he is now and what it takes to run a Formula 1 team! Highly recommend for anyone who is into Formula 1 and/or Gunther. The title is very fitting for both his personality and the book

A review of foking Formula 1 and the Haas Team according to Guenther. Interesting insights, though would be also interesting to hear how Gene Haas viewed the world.

Really enjoyed this. Steiner writes how he talks which provides an entertaining and quick read. It’s obvious why he’s a favourite on drive to survive. Great insight into the 10 years of Haas

Guenther is a legend. For F1 fans, this will be a fun and insightful window into the creation of the Haas team. Told with usual Guenther humor and bluntness, the books endears him to fans even more.

Sometimes reading about those you admire leaves you liking them less (eh..Roy Keane) but not this time. Guenther is still as entertaining and likable, if anything I like him more.

Okay okay don’t shoot me for 4 stars but I can’t help it.

Guenther is an incredible storyteller and I loved hearing it in his voice and the emotion behind it.

But I expected more , with a name like unfiltered I was expecting juicy full throttle opinions etc but instead it felt a bit like Surviving to Drive with a few other stories thrown in .

But nevertheless I love Guenther and will continue to do so ❤️
