Tides of Being is a collection of 100 poetry that has been beautifully written in three heads. Each poem speaks of our life related. Our dreams, sadness, happiness, struggle, book reading and everything comes together in a poetic way yet in a simple words to make hug them. It was healing my inner peace. Once I started I couldn’t stop. Every title and those illustrations are perfectly timed to make us feel the poetry even more lively. Though I never read poetry much but this was my favourite one I would say. Some of my favourite poem titles are “Do you travel through”, “Do you witness changes after trip” and “Does that matter”. I don’t want spill every title in it. I loved every title. Especially in theme of Seeking Solace ❤️ my most part in the book.
The cover gave me a sign of positivity that good things are going to happen soon. The illustration in the cover made me think “If you fall in the ocean, you have to swim to survive” that’s how life works. Illustration are very beautifully made to give the apt for the title and also to feel the emotions through poem. Definitely a must read poetry.
Have you ever stumbled upon a book that felt like it was speaking directly to you, almost as if it knew your innermost thoughts? Tides of Being by Tanvi Agarwal, beautifully illustrated by Ruchi Sinha, is that kind of book. It’s not just poetry; it’s a journey inward, calling you to pause and reflect on the ebb and flow of life. Tanvi Agarwal, a rising voice in introspective poetry, brings forward her distinct ability to make readers feel seen, offering verses that touch the essence of our shared humanity.
Tides of Being is a collection of 100 poems, each one a short but impactful exploration of life's big questions. Divided into three key themes—Virtues of Life, You & Chaos, and Seeking Solace—the book explores everything from personal growth to the chaotic beauty of existence, each verse gently nudging readers to pause, breathe, and reconnect with their inner selves. It’s like holding a mirror to your soul, urging you to look at your life and decisions with newfound depth and honesty.
Tanvi’s writing is refreshingly simple yet profound. Each poem is compact, usually under 12 lines, but that brevity doesn’t limit the emotional resonance. She uses straightforward language that invites everyone, regardless of background, to connect with her work. There’s something magical about how she can convey so much in so few words, making you feel like each verse holds a world of meaning beneath the surface. It’s the kind of writing that reveals more with each read.
The themes Tanvi explores are ones we all grapple with—finding purpose, navigating chaos, and searching for peace. But what makes her approach unique is the subtle encouragement to answer the questions that her verses raise, like, “Are you satisfied with your life?” or “Is your thought aligned with your doing?” These aren’t just questions; they’re invitations to introspection, and each theme gives readers a framework to dig into their own lives.
Divided into three clear sections, the structure of the book helps create a natural progression for readers. Starting with Virtues of Life, it eases into a contemplation of personal values before exploring the messier aspects of life in You & Chaos. Finally, Seeking Solace provides a comforting close, offering readers a sense of calm after the storm. This structured approach gives the book a wonderful flow, almost like a guided journey through the complexities of human experience.
Beyond personal reflection, Tanvi’s poems touch on universal themes—peace, resilience, and self-acceptance. Her words subtly remind us that life’s uncertainties and struggles are natural, and they don’t diminish our worth or potential. The verses encourage us to embrace both our light and our darkness, promoting self-compassion and resilience. This theme of finding beauty in chaos is particularly poignant, resonating deeply in a world that often feels overwhelming.
Reading Tides of Being feels like a warm embrace on a rainy day. Some verses uplift, others stir a bit of melancholy, but each one is comforting in its own way. The words linger, making you think about them long after you’ve closed the book. Certain poems, especially those in the *Seeking Solace* section, were especially moving, offering a gentle reminder that, even in moments of solitude or confusion, there’s solace in self-reflection.
One of the book’s strengths lies in its accessibility. These aren’t lofty, hard-to-decipher poems; instead, they’re simple, heartfelt, and relatable. The addition of Ruchi Sinha’s illustrations elevates the experience even further. Each drawing complements the theme of the verse, adding visual depth to Tanvi’s words. It’s rare to find a poetry collection that balances written and visual art so seamlessly, making this book a delight to return to time and again.
If I had to point out one limitation, it might be that the simplicity of the language occasionally limits the poems’ depth on a first read. While this style makes the book wonderfully approachable, it sometimes leaves you wanting a bit more complexity. However, this also makes it a book that invites multiple readings, with new interpretations emerging each time. In future works, Tanvi could experiment with slightly longer verses to dive even deeper into her themes.
I found myself drawn to this collection because it aligns with a longing I’ve often felt for quiet introspection amidst the busyness of life. There’s something therapeutic about picking up a book that invites you to sit with yourself and explore your own thoughts. For anyone who’s ever questioned their direction or felt caught in the chaos of life, Tides of Being is a gentle companion, always ready to offer a thoughtful line to reflect on.
Tides of Being is more than just a poetry book—it’s a journey through one’s own heart and mind, masterfully crafted to appeal to readers of all ages. Tanvi Agarwal and Ruchi Sinha have created a work that will resonate deeply with those looking for meaning, peace, or simply a comforting read. Whether you’re an avid poetry lover or a newcomer to the genre, this collection promises an enriching experience. I wholeheartedly recommend it and look forward to seeing where Tanvi’s introspective talent leads her next.

Some pieces are just introduced to induce humor and Tanvi succeeds in doing so.
'You & the Chaos', portrays how one can find themselves and harness their true potential in tumultuous times. The poetic pieces are uplifting and empowering. I really liked how the ideation of stunning illustrations and soul-soothing poetry created a visual experience. The detailed line art by Ruchi Sinha truly encapsulates each poem by presenting a fresh perspective.
I particularly liked the verse "Do you Turn White into colorful", where it simplified the phenomenon of formation of white shade. The color may exhibit a part of monochromatic lens but it comprises of different colors that represent varied behavioral patterns.
“White signifies peace, But is it the only virtue you need? Or do you choose to make it colorful, By adding a pinch of different virtues.”
“Does that appeal you?” is rooted in beautiful imagery when describing a formation of a scenery. It gently nudges us to take in the gorgeous sight and revel in the beauty of nature.
The best thing about this book is it inspires you to pause life’s continuous race of achieving the next milestone, and insists you to ponder upon the question asked. As a reader, I too asked myself the questions and tried to get my version of the answer. Each poem has an illustration below the poem. The illustrator has done a remarkable job of illustrating the book with her gorgeous artwork. I appreciate her thought process and efforts given to illustrate the poems and level up the reading experience. Tides Of Being by Tanvi Agarwal is a collection of 100 poems that takes the readers on the evolved form of basic childhood emotion - curiosity, into the questionnaire. A collection where every poem will take you on the journey of introspection.
Divided into three parts - Virtues of Life, You & Chaos, and Seeking Solace, each part offers the readers some questions and like our favourite teacher during exams, some hints to look out for the answers.
Each poem comes with an illustration literally - apart from the imagery it presents - giving way for more interpretations and diversity. However, the mastery of Agarwal lies in the fact that there were times when I was so immersed in the words that I missed looking at illustrations and then went back to them and found new meanings. The illustrations by Ruchi Sinha stand out on their own and make the poems more reflective.
If you are someone who is looking forward to reading more poems that can help you understand yourself better, this is a collection for you. And in the words of the poet herself - "To the ones seeking self, To the ones fighting with themselves To the ones missing little joys, And to the ones who feel lost. "

However on multiple reads, deeper meanings emerge. The beauty of a book on poems is that it has no start or no end. You can begin at any page and end anywhere. They are ageless in that the poems remain relevant forever. Not in the right frame of mind, just open a page and you could perhaps get the answer you seek or atleast find some sense in the chaos. The book is organised into three broad sections, Virtues of Life, You & Chaos, and Seeking Solace. The poems all limit themselves to not more than 12 lines of deep meaningful thoughts. "Isn’t it amusing, To ask if your path is straight? I don’t agree! As the trail less traveled Is full of obstacles, To tackle and maybe there’s A ladder to climb, To the road to success!" (The captivating slice is taken from "Does Your Path Look Straight?")

I had read somewhere, "Poetry is not for the faint hearted" and true it is. Because the one who writes poetry has to feel something deeply, while the one who reads has to decode the deeply written emotions.
Tanvi's latest release is exactly that. She has woven and layered emotions beautifully and delicately in each poem. And the illustrations only add to make the experience of reading the poems better. Poetry lovers, you should not miss this one!
