I studied this textbook as part of my coursework in college. The subject matter comprehensively explores aspects of the communication process, including: its stages, principles, and types; the steps and delivery of different speech presentations; participating in job interviews; and functioning as part of a group or team.
The textbook meets the first and third of the authors' stated goals by adequately engaging me to think critically about my and others' communication and reinforcing my stance that intentional curation of my communication style is vital to my success. The authors' second goal, "creating a book you will want to read," was not met from a personal viewpoint. The subject matter was frequently repetitive, which resulted in the lessons feeling bogged down and being unable to hold my attention or compel me to read more than required. This experience may not be the same for others.
