His only mission was to protect the human descendant of Danae...Triton, god of the sea and commander of the Warrior Tritones' only job was to stop the Gigantes from overthrowing the Olympians and to keep their world from the eyes of man. Because of a promise given by his father centuries ago, he had been sent to rescue the foolish mortal Ariadne Phillips.Little did he know that her dark beauty and personality would entrap him as no other goddess or mermaid have tried to do. He wanted to keep her but could he live with her for eternity if it turned out to be a mistake? In his quest to save her, he...an immortal deity had been forced to laugh, cry and had his own life placed in jeopardy when the very thought or idea had never existed. She only wanted to fulfill her childhood dream and meet a gorgeous Greek male while she's at it...Ari got the opportunity of a lifetime...to model for a magazine and visit the beautiful islands of Greece.  Strange and erotic dreams plagued her after reading an old Greek journal passed down by her late grandmother.  After literally meeting the man of her "dreams" and finding out his god status, she questioned what would he want with a mortal. Getting to know his world and coming to the understanding that you don't have to be omnipotent gave her the confidence to stand up and fight for what she wanted and not even the threat of death would stand in her way.  *PS* A head's up; this is an adult book for grown folks. Just because we're older, doesn't mean we don't like to have fun. Meant for 18+ Enter at your own risk.

I spent my summers in Pennsylvania visiting my grandmother as a child. She would always kick me out of the house so she could watch her soaps.

Sitting on her steps dejected and bored her neighbor, Mrs. Williams felt sorry for me and began giving me boxes of her old Harlequin romances. I would sit in a tree passing the time disappearing into the lives of rich men saving some poor woman.

I discovered the world of Greek Mythology in Jr. High and the idea of adding the two together began to take form (except I had to empower the woman, no more “poor me” stuff).

Twenty years, a marriage, three rugrats and a trip to Greece finally brought to life my series of the Aegean Chronicles.

A mixing of cultures, humor, sadness and weird sex takes you on an adventure in finding out that relationships don’t have to follow the path everyone thinks they’re supposed to go.

Ariadne Phillips is a strong willed, sassy, medical worker from Columbus, Ohio, who discovers an old leather bound book on Poseidon, the Greek god of the ocean, which had belonged to her late grandmother. Unbeknown to her, Ariadne, or Ari, is a direct descendant of Acrisius, the demented and psychopathic king of ancient Argos.
Acrisius is my kind of villain. He excels at raping, torturing, killing, and getting himself killed, invariably by members of his own family. Initially reborn as Caligula of Rome, he is now Chris Dugan, who still enjoys his psychopathic hobbies.
When Ari begins to read from the book on Poseidon she attracts the vengeful attention of her ancestor Acrisius/ Chris Dugan. Poseidon sends his son, Triton, to save Ariadne. Of course Triton falls in love with Ari and then….well, you’ll have to read Yelle Hughes’s imaginative and entertaining novel to find out what happens next.
Quirky, tongue in cheek, written with an easy charm, ‘Triton’ is one of those novels that always seemed to leave me with a smile on my face anytime I read it. The author is as comfortable with Greek mythology as she is with everyday life in contemporary America, and has created an entertaining blend of the two, with more than a dollop of sex thrown in.
This is a highly enjoyable piece of escapism that comes strongly recommended

"Triton" by Yelle Hughes is an excellent fun read about Greek Gods in modern times. The plot of this inspired novel is spanning the millenia with a twisted family feud that begins in Ancient Greek, moves through the days of Rome and finds its way to contemporary Ohio. Descendants of the Gods and the Immortals themselves do the name Greek Drama proud. Incestuous lusts, improper longings, love, jealousy and revenge - it is all there for you.

The characters themselves are wonderful creations, very much in the way you would like them to be in a novel about Greek mythology, but also some great unexpected additions, such as Poseidon's aid, George, the dolpin.
Ariadne, a young woman in Ohio, discovers some Greek book and read out the writing while clearing out her grandmother's belongings, an event that is noticed in the Aegaen and draws attention to her. Pursued also by one of her ancestors and an unsuitable ex-boyfriend, the complications add up nicely and make for an inspired and well unfolding plot.
Hughes has combined existing myths with fresh ones and historical characters with invented ones, but somehow managed to keep the authentic feel of Greek Mythology. I studied ancient Greek at school for 5 years and have had my fill of its history, language and mythology. Hughes's 'post-modern' take on it comes together very well and is intelligent as it is hugely enjoyable.
I'm a huge fan.

Triton (The Aegean Chronicles) by Yelle Hughes. Wish-fulfilment Greek-Gods’ style.
Have you ever dreamt of sharing your life with a Greek God? Do you want to live an extraordinary life and become one of the immortals?
Triton, the first in Yelle Hughes’s series of books about the Greek Gods and their interactions with mortals, has many elements of a wish-fulfilment fantasy. Characters can quickly travel in space and through dimensions, can live underwater, become immortal, become mermaids, be given superhuman strength… and even find love. Just in case you don’t think the fantasy and the elements of Greek mythology (and you get to come close and personal with many of the Gods we only know through Classics literary works, paintings and sculptures) are enough to make you want to read it, Triton has also modern, engaging and fun characters you would be happy to meet in real life and would love to call your friends (I know I’d happily join Ari, Sindi and Gail any day). You also have a fair amount of sex (some as you’ve never read it before).
If you want a wild ride under and over water and mythological stories with a difference I recommend you Triton. And from the extract at the end of the book, Erok’s adventures promise the fun will carry on.

You have no idea how long this author has teased me with snippets and excerpts from this book. I have been hearing about this book for at least a year before she got it out and published. It was worth the wait! This is tale of love set in a world where modern meets historical. Real life in Ohio meets Greek history under the sea.

It's a love story, but it's more than just a simple romance novel. This has sex and story. This is like Lara from Bertrice Small. I say this because that is one of the few "romance" stories I read and didn't go yeah right fluff stuff whatever gooshy goey yick yuck where's the beef of the story? Lara had fantasy and adventure along with healthy doses of sex. That's what Yelle has done in Triton...blended it all into a well balanced mythological romance that is full of action/adventure/hot sex/entertainment.

Now, as you may have figured out I love MYTHOLOGY. Yelle here dishes out LOTS of mythology. Stuff even I had forgotten about or never learned. Everyone knows that I have issues with mythology not giving me enough information on the story. That's why I created my books. That's also why I loved this book. Back stories, reasons, filler, details! This book gives you lots of fun and exciting ideas about mythology. It also has some interesting turns and twists. I was reading it trying to hurry up and get to the end so I could see what happened. I also like how she explained how the main lady could suddenly go be in the sea and breathe underwater. Not a lot of people pay attention to those details. They just think the reader should suspend the disbelief on about everything. I am not one of those people. I would be like "hey! she isn't a fish, how can she breathe under water!".

So, if you love mythology and romance, but not that sappy damsel in distress can't help herself romance, then this is the book you should pick.

(I did get a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for the review)

Hughes has clearly done her research and isn't afraid to delve into the grittier aspects of Greek Mythology. Seeing the dark bits of the myths juxtaposed with a modern day setting makes those little disturbing details that are so easy to skim over in the ancient myths all the more real. The only issue I had were some places where the tense shifted, but otherwise I found
the characters fun to read. They each had strong personalities that fit their roles in mythology. The non-myth based personalities were fun too. I think my favorite character was George the dolphin.

I really appreciate that Ariadne, the protagonist, had a handful of female friends. The scenes with the group of them really grounded the novel firmly in modern day despite all the ancient grudges and timeless characters (also great) driving the plot. Ariadne's life felt three dimensional. She didn't just exist to be a love interest, she had a life, a good one, with or without the men in the story. That gave her character and her choices more meaning.

The plot moved along at a steady clip and kept me guessing. I cared what happened to the characters so I never found myself skimming when POV's changed, regardless of which character's head I was in. All in all, a fun read.

I have a confession to make. I do not read too many Romance stories. This is the one I have read in a long while and I really did enjoy it. I must say Yelle has such a vivid imagination. It is really difficult for me to fathom how she got all the ancient Gods, we have come to learn about in Greek mythology, coming out live in her story; interacting with mortals and having normal love relationships.
I liked the major characters, Ari, should I say the iron lady, Taz(Triton,) George, Zeke, Eros and the rogue Acrisius. Ari's bravado in deciding to go along with Taz, whose world she did not understand, was amazing. I guess she inherited that from her descendants who were related to Poseidon.
One important lesson I learnt was the need to keep a balance in the environment. Most often we humans think we own everything on this planet. We forget we are in a symbiotic relationship with others who also have a right to exist on earth. The wales, the dolphins, the sharks and other sea creatures occupy a niche which is about 80% of what we occupy and we have to be mindful, just like the Gods have protected us over the centuries.
What made my day was the action at the end. Taz, supposed to be an immortal is shot with a special poisoned bullet, and is dying. Zeke and George who are immortals, and Ari have to find an antidote before it was too late.
On the whole I'll say the story is one full of intense passion and thrills.

I'm a huge lover of Greek mythology and it's one area that can be interpreted in several different ways. I've read a lot of books, watched a lot of movies and I wanted my guys to embody folks of today.

Some have anger issues, some are goofy as hell, but none of them are boring.

I really hope you guys check out my little adventure and enjoy the heck out of yourselves as you plunge into the depths of the Aegean or traipse around the Isles of Greece or just walking down the streets of Columbus, Ohio.

Acrisius aka Caligula and Chris Dugan all are one and the same man he is an evil man who loved to raped and torture his family as revenge in two of theses lives the closest people in his lives were the ones to seek their revenge for the wrongs done to them in his life as Acrisius he rapped and controlled his daughter Danae when she gives birth to another mans baby he feels betrayed he was willing to let her be with men who he deemed worthy but she tried to tell him that her child’s father was not a mortal man but he puts her in a box and throws her into the ocean many years later 2 people come and ask for Acrisius hospitality and they were Perseus the adopted son of Dictys king of Serithose he and his mother come in shrouded so that Acrisius didn’t know it was his daughter Danae and Perseus Acrisius demands they remove their hood when Danae removes her hood she tells him that he is to be punished that her sons father wasn’t a mortal but Zeus the god of thunder and that for trying to kill them he shall be punished while she is telling them this Perseus opens a bag that grabs Acrisius and his men focus on they didn’t realized they were turning to stone because they were looking at the head of medusa next thing they know they are waiting for the ferrymen to take them to Elysium or Tartarus but Hecate the goddess of death, rebirth and necromancy enjoyed watching Acrisius’ evil exploits and offers him and his men a chance at a new life all they had to do as payment was to worship her and come and do her bidding any time she called.
Acrisius’ second life was as Caligula emperor of Rome he and his men raped and tortured his sister Julia she had a son who was coming of age to spare him the horrors of being paraded around and raped and tortured like her she poisoned Caligula and his men in the end she ended up killing herself and her children but because she was prepared for their deaths her and her children ended up in Elysium while Acrisius aka Caligula was back where he started dead and in front of Hecate she tells him she will send him to a new life but he must keep his evil deeds on the quiet side and to not be killed by another blood relative
Ariadme Phillips wakes up when she hear someone pounding on her door she goes to open the door to find her ex Robert standing their he sees that she is wearing her pj’s and things she is wearing them to entice him so he kisses her she pushes him away saying their relationship ended the night before when she found out that he confronted her friends telling them that they were bad influences on her and to stay away from her she tell Robert to never come back to her house and to not bother her at the place they work he proceeds to tell her that he will talk to her when she has had time to calm down then we skip to a year later Ari and her friends are at their friend Gail’s self-defense class they are goofing around when are is asked to demonstrate how to scream incapacitate and run from the person attacking her she fools around and bits the guy and kicks him after the class is over with Gail asks the girls to come to the back and they talked she asks them not to run off butch that its hard to find guys to get kicked around in a women’s self defense class Ari tells Gail that bitch aka butch like it when they through him what he calls a curve ball that it keeps him on his toes and that Gail should go out with him. Gail ask if they are going to be their tomorrow for class but both say they are busy Ari tells Gail that she is cleaning her grandmother belongings when she get to the house her mother tells her to go and clean the attic she goes and cleans the attic when she notices a chest she feels a special connection to it so she opens the chest inside she fins a book a it calls to her its special she realizes it in Greek but she can read it as if it was written in English she leaves and takes the book with her she reads of Poseidon and all of his exploits and the women he’s been with and more
Acrisius’ third life is as Chris Dugan he is whipping a person when all of a sudden he feels sick so he calls out to Hecate she proceeds to tell him that a descendant of his daughter Danae has found an immortals book and that they are living in the same town she tell him that he can find her and have his revenge on her for what his daughter danae did to him but he must hurry because Poseidon knows she has read the book and will seek her out
Triton “Taz” is a warrior and the son of Poseidon is sitting getting his routine messages by the naiads and mermaids when he gets summoned by his father Poseidon. Poseidon tells triton he must go and find a person he wasn’t sure if it was a man or women due to a promise he made to his consort Amphytrite to protect the family and descendents of Danae it started when Zeus asked Poseidon to keep Danae safe and not let her or his child die Amphytrite put spell on Poseidon’s journal that anyone in Danae’s line who is in danger can read the book and it would summon Poseidon but he sent triton in his stead. When he first lays eyes on ari his first thought is mine!!
Will triton find Ari? Will he learn the lesson he needs to learn to be a good future king? Will Triton and Ari fall in love and have a happy ending? Will Acrisius get his revenge? Will triton keep Ari safe?
To find out the answers to these questions I strongly suggest you read this book its is amazing and a lovely story I cant wait to see what happens next 5 gold stars

Yelle Hughes take on how Greek gods would act and react in our modern world was spunky and sassy. The vengeful plot kept my interest. It did have some indulging orgasmic scenes which may put off some, so be forewarned. Triton's personality certainly fits my perception of the mythical god. Plus I enjoyed learning more about other personalities and characteristics from the Greek myths.

I was actually one of the first to read this story. Yelle knows what I really think as I am a big fan of anything with Greek gods and the twist she gives in this story makes it a good read. Can't wait for the second installment.

FOR 18+ ONLY! When in present day Ohio, Ariadne Phillips discovers an ancient text in Greek within her late grandmother’s things and miraculously realizes that she can read the text as if it is her native language, she does not realize that it is because she is part of a lineage from a tryst between a Grecian princess and Zeus. However, the godly energy empowering her to read the text has alerted the reincarnated narcissistic King Acrisius of Argos, who is seeking vengeance on his daughter and her lineage, and Poseidon, who had promised his brother that he would protect the family lineage. Poseidon sends his son Triton with his friend to protect Ariadne and her family from the danger, but Triton discovers that he has met his match when he comes upon Ariadne. The author has taken on quite a challenge in trying to blend in the mythology of the Greek gods into a modern day global society, and it is a fascinating imaginative accomplishment, even as it does run into some expected contradictions within the background mythology. However, the initiating thriller concept of a good god protector facing an evil plot against a worthy person becomes a minor portion of the story, as the major core of the story becomes a very physically romantic connection between an immortal sea god and a modern day strong woman. Fans of erotic romance will be more satisfied than fans of suspense thrillers, as gods find it easier to stop evil than to understand and embrace love. Editorial errors are at an acceptable level.

The writing was so cringey I found it very hard to read. Also, very difficult in terms of assault and rape. I know the Greek gods did go around assaulting people all the time but I wanted Ari to have more of a problem with that. Perhaps it’s just my own past experience coming in but I felt like the word Rape was chucked in to shock in a number of places. I didn’t feel like the author had any idea what that experience does to some women.

Great read!

Although there are quite a few grammatical errors, over all this is a great read. I found myself not wanting to put the book down and staying up late at night reading. It was 2.99 when I purchased and it was worth it.
