Interesting and fascinating.  A good read.

The book details a year in the author's life as a paramedic, right from him starting training.

This was a bit different in that he's not fresh out of school or uni-he was 50, his career has been in business, and due to a medical emergency of his own, he decided to completely change his career.

At the start of the book he is moving to America to take up a new job. Moving from Britain.  Months later, things are going well. Then an emergency strikes that changes everything.

A good solid read, and unpredictable.  The emergency that changed everything wasn't due to an RTA. It hadn't happened in England, and it didn't happen to him, it was his younger son.

An interesting and fascinating book.  Easy reading, constructed of short chunks/scenes.

If I was a lot younger and physically fit, I'd be tempted to become a first responder: EMT/Paramedic after reading this excellent account of what it involves. Sadly, I'm too old and my body wouldn't allow it anyway. I'd recommend reading this book to anyone who is interested in joining a caring and satisfying profession.
