Natalya looked at him sadly, still backing away. Once she was about five metres away, she stopped.
“James. You have walked into a fairy-tale.” And with that, the air seemed to shimmer around her and the next thing he saw was a large silver wolf standing on the snow.

James Ericsson is an agent for Sentinel, an organization who deals in counter-terrorism, espionage and special security. Through a chance encounter, he meets Natalya, a woodland guide who possesses an ancient hereditary secret and discovers a connection neither ever expected.
But there is a man. Marcus De Guerre, who hunts Natalya. He and his brethren have been searching for her kind for hundreds of years and now he has come onto Sentinels radar.
James will have to use all the skills he possesses to protect Natalya from the most dangerous enemy he has faced. With the help of his team, will he be able to save her so that she can use her gifts to stop the genocide of over a hundred thousand people? Is she strong enough to pull back from the destiny that De Guerre has in store for her or will she succumb to a fate worse than death in order to save the people she loves and those who unknowingly depend on her for their lives?

Lupa is an enthralling tale — more than a love story, it’s a soul story. Looking forward to book number 2 from this author.

This book is very well written and has a great plot. Of the wolf shifter books I’ve read, this is the one I definitely enjoyed the most. I do wish there had been a slower burn where the relationship between Natalya and James was concerned, especially considering how long the book is. I loved the cast of characters as a whole though.

Book : Lupa (Book 1 of the Winter Soul Series)
Author : Alexandra Lattey
Genre : Fantasy / Mystery / Romance

Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lupa is about a girl who doesn’t quite fit into the world she’s grown up in because she senses that something about her and her past is not what it seems.

This book crept up on me in the best way. It doesn’t try to impress you with loud plot twists or over the top drama. Instead, it quietly pulls you under with its cold, aching atmosphere and this constant feeling like something ancient is watching you from the woods.

The writing is delicate but sharp, almost like poetry with teeth. There’s this eerie beauty to the world the author builds and I could feel the winter air, the silence, the weight of every unspoken thing between the lines. It’s the kind of story that whispers more than it shouts, and somehow that makes it hit harder.

The main character felt so real. She’s definitely not a typical heroine. She's raw, untamed, full of questions she doesn’t even want answers to. I loved that she wasn’t trying to be likeable but that she was just trying to survive and understand herself.

If you like stories that feel half fairytale, half emotional, dark, slow burn and powerful, Lupa is one for you.

Lupa by Alexandra Lattey — Book One of the Winter Soul Series — completely drew me in from the very first chapter. The story follows Natalya, a mysterious and strong heroine with striking green eyes and a hidden past, and James, a calm, blue-eyed operative whose chance encounter with her at a hotel bar sets off an unforgettable chain of events.

What begins as a simple meet-cute quickly evolves into a supernatural, action-packed adventure filled with secret missions, telepathic connections, shape-shifting, ancient bloodlines, and a haunting villain that ties everything together. Lattey skillfully balances romance, fantasy, and suspense, keeping the pacing strong and the emotional stakes high.

I loved the world-building and the blend of mythology and espionage — it’s part paranormal romance, part action thriller, and part spiritual fantasy. The connection between Natalya and James felt both fated and genuine, and their chemistry was undeniable. The supporting cast (especially Natalya’s “uncles” and the Sentinel team) added great depth, and I appreciated how the ending hinted at a much larger world to come.

The writing is captivating, the characters are easy to love, and the tension kept me turning pages late into the night. The cover is absolutely stunning, and the story inside more than lives up to it.
If you enjoy romantic fantasy with espionage, secret organizations, wolf-shifters, and soulmate bonds, this series opener is worth diving into.

CW/TW: Violence, blood, trauma, mind control/manipulation, and captivity.

I was immediately drawn into Lupa—the intrigue, the mysterious tone, and the unusual blending of genres hooked me from the very beginning. Alexandra Lattey weaves fantasy, espionage, and romance into a compelling story that stands out in a crowded genre. One of my favorite aspects was the fresh take on shapeshifting—presented not as a curse, but as an elegant, inherited gift.

That said, the pacing did feel uneven at times. Some sections were incredibly detailed, while others moved quickly with time jumps and minimal explanation. At over 650 pages, it’s quite a tome—I personally think this story could have been even stronger if split into two books to allow the plot and characters more breathing room.

Although it includes romantic elements, the story never leans too heavily into that genre, which I believe makes it appealing to a wider audience, including male readers who enjoy action and fantasy. I’d also love to see this released as an audiobook—it has the immersive tone that would translate beautifully to audio.

Thank you to the author for providing me with a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Alexandra Lattey has managed to weave romance, fantasy, and espionage into a remarkable soul story. The story isn't rushed or crazy. It's slow and steady seeping into you with the authors words and descriptive atmosphere.

The tone of the book is highly immersive with vivid details and superb characters that I instantly loved from the beginning. Natalya and James were wonderful, and it's been a while since I've really enjoyed a fated mates romance. Although their relationship is a large part of the story, it's well balanced out with all the other aspects, making it a well-rounded story for a wide audience to enjoy.

Im diving straight into book 2 The Ancient Wolves as I can't wait to see what is in store for Natalya, James, and the Sentinel team.

Massive thank you to the author for reaching out and providing me with a digital copy of the book.

I thoroughly enjoyed the journey Natalya took in this story, as she learned to let James protect her. From the very start, her strength and independence were clear, yet it was compelling to see her struggle with trust and vulnerability.

Alexandra knits a rich and immersive world, balancing action, romance, and emotional depth beautifully. James is the perfect counterpart to Natalya steadfast and protective without overshadowing her own power.

Their evolving relationship kept me hooked, making this a gripping and satisfying read. If you love wolf shifter romances with well developed characters and emotional stakes, this one is definitely worth a read!

Un libro muy bien redactado y con mucho por ver. Si te gusta lo sobrenatural, este es tu libro. Tiene ligeros toques de spicy, pero sobre todo la fantasía es lo que te llevará a mundos donde tú mente se perderá por completo.

I enjoyed reading this book. The story of the 2 main character was told beautifully. I love me some fated mates! The banter between the MMC and his colleagues/friends was superb. And lets not forget the FMC can shift into a wolf. Yesss!!! However, the book was way too long. I would have rather seen this be split into at least 2 books.

Firstly, thank you for reaching out to me on TikTok!

At first I thought I wasn’t going to get into it, but with my favorite wild animal being a wolf and loving shifters, I ended up enjoying it.

Lupa is about a girl who is afraid to let people in because of what she is. Until James comes along and she feels this pull toward him and him feeling the same.
Natalya has always protected and watched out for herself, but finally understood that it was okay for someone else to protect her.

Natalya the FMC, is a shifter who can turn into a wolf. She’s been through a lot, and though she is tough and independent, she was also struggling with trust. She works as a guide for hiking, and she had already met the MMC James in the beginning.
James is an agent for an organization who deals with terrorism. He needed to take a hike up to this place to get information. Then the journey really starts when Natalya saves him.

He finds out who she really is, and he’s not afraid of her. I loved that the characters felt real and relatable. Even with it being love at first sight, it was different because of how it was written. The plot was great, the character development and details were fantastic.

This was a very interesting read, and I’m now starting on book 2. Excited to see what’s in store in that one.

What follows is a fast-paced, emotional, and myth-infused journey full of romance, danger, and loyalty. The bond between Natalya and James is intense and grounded in mutual respect, while the worldbuilding brings an elegant twist to the typical shapeshifter lore.

I really enjoyed the writing style and the deep sense of history behind Natalya’s character. The suspense kept the pages turning, and the romance had just the right amount of heat and heart.

If you're into shapeshifter romance with a mythic edge, strong female leads, and high-stakes action, Lupa is worth picking up.

Honest Arc Book Review – Lupa by Alexandra Lattey (4/5 stars)

Lupa starts a bit slow, which isn’t unusual for fantasy books, where the world building takes time to unfold. While I wasn’t immediately hooked, I found that once I settled into the story, the blend of fantasy and thriller elements really captured my attention.

One of the strongest aspects of this novel is its emotional depth particularly Natalya’s heartbreaking past trauma, which adds layers to her character and makes her journey all the more compelling. Her relationship with James is a highlight his unwavering care and the sacrifices he makes for her give the story a touching, emotional core that balances the darker, more suspenseful elements.

The dynamic between Natalya and Marcus de Guerre also stood out. His pursuit of her adds a tense, cat-and-mouse energy that kept the stakes high and the pacing engaging. Alongside the main storyline, the side characters were surprisingly enjoyable and well developed, contributing to a rich, immersive cast.

The ending was especially strong and left me feeling satisfied, while also curious about what could come next in this world. Lupa may not have pulled me in instantly, but it definitely grew on me and I think it has great potential within the fantasy genre.

I'm obsessed with Lupa! This fantasy romance is a wild ride with the perfect blend of suspense, action, and heart. James and Natalya's story is so captivating, and I loved how their journey explores themes of identity, trust, and self-discovery.
What really stood out to me is how it’s not just about magic and battles but also about finding your true self and learning to trust others even when everything’s against you. As someone who values authenticity and the journey behind the wins, the characters’ struggles with identity and connection hit home. The mix of suspense and genuine emotion makes this story stick with you long after the last page. The way the author weaves supernatural legends into modern-day thrills is pure magic. If you're a fan of A Court of Thorns and Roses, you'll devour this book! Trust me, you won't regret it 😊. Get ready for a story that'll stay with you long after you finish reading. 🤪

Lupa: A Wolf Shifter Romance

By Alexandra Lattey

Natalya spends her time guiding people up mountains when she is hired to guide James who gathers intelligence as work. He is hunting the same man who is hunting Natalya and decides to stay with her after discovering she’s in danger and a shifter after making it back down the mountain. Falling in love, he enlists the help of two friends to help keep Natalya safe taking on the roles of protectors from Natalya’s uncles.

I felt like this book was way too long. I enjoyed it but I really felt like it could have benefited from being split up into multiple books. I enjoyed the fated mates and the wolf shifter aspects but it was just too long for my taste. However, if you love a long shifter fated mate romance then definitely check out this book!

Lupa is a paranormal romance complete with a wolf shifter, action scenes, espionage, and occult references. Join Natalya and James on their journey to help Natalya overcome trauma while aiming to stop an obsessed member of the occult from taking the lives of other supernatural beings to fulfill his ancestors prophecies.

I found the side characters to be memorable and liked the bond between Natalya and James. I appreciated the protective traits James showed, all while still giving the Natalya autonomy over herself.

The overall plot was interesting, but I felt the book had uneven pacing and felt disjointed at times, and would have benefited from being reduced in length. Ultimately I enjoyed the journey and the twists Lattey provides to her readers and am glad I had the opportunity to read the story.

We meet our main characters through following them through their first night and then the awkward meeting to get up a mountain, as she happens to be his travel guide. James works for an organization that works to stop the evil villains of the world. Natalya is a girl who has a secret, and James ends up wrapped up in her world. Secrets start to come out and a bond and journey between the two happen. James must do everything he can to protect her.

The story I found to have a unique story to it. The characters were well written, and the world was built amazingly well. I enjoyed the journey and watching everything unfold.

I do find that I wish we had a bit more of the inside thoughts, I'd like to have seen some push back or something that would have been a more natural reaction when finding out some things rather than readily accepting them.

From page one, Lupa had me hooked. We’re talking shapeshifters, espionage, ancient bloodlines, and a slow-burn romance that simmers without hijacking the plot. Alexandra Lattey somehow mashed fantasy, thriller, and romance into one big, delicious book smoothie—and weirdly, it works.

The vibe is mysterious and moody in all the right ways, with just the right amount of danger and world-building to keep your imagination sprinting. I especially loved the twist on shapeshifting—it’s not a curse or some dark affliction, but this graceful, inherited power that feels almost regal. Very refreshing in a genre that loves to make supernatural abilities traumatic.

If you’re into immersive world-building, fast-paced plotlines, and fantasy with a side of espionage and heart, Lupa should be next on your list. It’s not your typical fantasy read—and that’s exactly why I’m obsessed.

Lupa is a sharp mix of thriller and myth, blending espionage tension with an undercurrent of ancient magic. James Ericsson, a hardened Sentinel agent, finds himself way out of his depth when he meets Natalya, and realizes her secret could reshape everything he thought he understood about power, loyalty, and humanity.

The chapter that really stuck with me was Chapter 12: “The Turning.” It’s the moment when Natalya’s dual nature fully comes into play, both terrifying and beautiful. The scene balances action with emotion so well that you can feel James’s awe and fear in equal measure.

Overall, Lupa is for readers who like their thrillers with a mythic edge, fast-paced, cinematic, and tinged with something ancient lurking beneath the modern world.

Lupa

Lupa was insanely good. I am not normally into this genre but this story had me drawn to it. It had mystery, fantasy, romance, shapeshifting all blended seamlessly together.

This story is long at over 650 pages but it’s easy to read and goes by quickly. But not so fast paced where you’re missing key points. More where you’re so immersed you’ve read 50-100 pages before you know it. The character and plots are nicely written. This book also will be able to capture a wide audience because it’s not just primarily in one genre like romance it has elements but doesn’t overwhelm anyone with one genre. This was a wonderful story.

Lupa completely drew me in from the first page and I couldn't put the book down. The action and suspense were gripping, keeping me hooked with each chapter. What I loved most was how easily I got lost in the fantasy; it’s the kind of book that lets your imagination wander freely. It's a fantastic escape from the everyday grind and a perfect way to unwind. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters of Natalya and James, and I’m already looking forward to reading where their journey will take them in Book 2 – The Ancient Wolves. Highly recommended for fans of immersive, fast-paced fantasy!

The connection between the two main characters was beautiful scripted and felt the author did a fabulous job on character description. The story had multiple elements to spin a magical tale full of love, mystery and fighting for the greater good.

The story was fast paced in the beginning and then slowed down for quite a bit before gaining back the momentum. These chapters did provide insight on the characters but also felt too drawn out. I also struggled a bit with not having more push/and pull with the love story in the beginning as it was instant.

Overall definitely worth reading.

The blend between Fantasy, Action, Romance and History is incredible! In the past, I have found that the history surrounding Shifters tends to follow a predictable storyline but, the history and backstory built in Lupa, is unlike anything I have read or thought to be able to be connected together to create such an enchanting world. You can feel the weight of the lineage being passed down through the ages and just being apart of that, creates such epic excitement!!

I was right there with Natalya and her journey with James in their fight against Marcus. A seriously great read- one that makes you want to know more! I can’t wait for the next book!

I really enjoyed the Book, although it is really long. Should have been two books ;)

The story is really good, shape-shifter finds it's mate right at the beginning from the book, Natalya needs to learn to trust him, James proves himself right from the beginning.

Action, fantasy, romance...

This is an urban fantasy based in the France.
It is the authors first book so I had to take a minute to formulate a constructive review.

Our FMC Natalya is coveted by her family to hide her from the antagonist Marcus De Guerre who seeks to use her as a weapon.
MMC James is saved by Natalya. The event leads both James and Natalya on a journey of love, healing, self discovery and revelations.

This was the fluffiest Werewolf book I have ever read. No morally grey characters or dirty bed talk. Not a cuss word to be said. I found the book to be very anti climactic and all the scenes lacked depth. Some great things happened, but I wanted more depth and detail. Scenes started and finished really quickly. There was build up or cool down.
For my spice lovers, this was very soft 🌽. Like lingerie models in the Farmers magazine, kind of thing.
The found family however, love, LOVE,
LOVED the found family. Sonya,
Connor, Etienne, Vincent and Dimitri
come to care for Natalya like
she's their little sister.
I will read book 2 because I want to see
what will happen.

The whole love at first ever sight between two adults who have commitment issues never sits well with me, and considering how long the book is, they fall inlove in the very first chapter. A wierd crossover kinda story in my opinion, just really not my style. Also the sex scenes are written as if the writer is embarrassed to talk about sex and get graphic
