December 31, 2024This is the romantasy you need to pick up and read! A fresh spin on beauty and the beast in a whole new world, with naive and optimistic Lada trapped with the monstrous Dragon King. My heart just about melted every time a certain someone referenced the "Little Florist" (and her insistence she's an herablist just made it that much more endearing).
But this isn't just a melt your heart story. A Tale of Blood and Blossoms has so much more. (This is where I envision the kid in Princess Bride saying "Is this a kissing book?" And as you may remember, the Grandpa had told him it's got "Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles...” This book has a lot of those things, too!)
A Tale of Blood and Blossoms is full of adventure and daring and political intrigue and magic and friendship in a vast realm with layered characters and a plot bigger than this one book can contain. Yes, it's a series, and I can't wait to get books 2 and 3 in my hands next!

This reminds of classic fairy tales. No overpowered female lead here! She talks to animals and skips around bare foot every chance she gets. Lada is definitely very naive, but endearingly so. However, rather than boring Prince Charming, you've got the morally grey Dragon Supreme. 😍 It's a wonderful mix of old meets new while being beautifully written. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series being released!
