I wanted to like this one so much more than I did. It has a lot of potential in bringing to words the space that air creates and the way that space is filled, along with the impact of wind in our lives, erosion due to wind, etc. But this was so disappointing in that aspect.
The first iteration of this series, Earth, is amazing. I thought every essay in that collection was unique and thought-provoking. They were creative and expanded on the simplistic meaning of 'earth', but this collection did not hold up the same way.
Instead, what we get are really boring and unimaginative essays that lean too much into the capitalist world without critiquing it in-depth and essays that didn't really seem to be so relevant to the concept of air in regard to the elements. Why did we need a whole essay on the history of flight and another on oxygen bars in los vegas????
I am hoping the next iteration of the series comes back strongly, but I won't be revisiting this one much.
There are a few gems in here though which I enjoyed greatly!
