Everything done in the dark will be brought to light. What is kept secret will be made known.
Overwhelmed by their growing caseload, FBI Agent Blake Wilder and her team search for a new case officer. But their interview is abruptly interrupted by a shocking phone call -
There’s been an attempt on Fish’s life, and now he’s in the hospital in a coma.
Devastated by the news, Blake drops everything to track down the shooter. Despite being reminded that she has no jurisdiction over the case, Blake uses her connection with Pax Arrington to gain access to the Seattle PD investigation.
Surveillance footage reveals a man in a black SUV. After combing through the detective notes, Blake wonders… Could this be linked to Fish’s dangerous crime boss past? With enemies from his past and present wishing him dead, Blake’s list of suspects keeps growing.
Lives hang by a thread, and this shot in the dark could lead to devastating consequences.
Secrets, lies, and manipulation. The conspiracies of today could be tomorrow’s truth.
Elle Gray lives in a small town with her 2 cats, and her handsome husky. As a girl, she was obsessed with crime novels and thrillers.
Today, she loves writing and creating thrilling novels with courageous, strong heroes/heroines and dangerous psychopaths. She invites you to join her exciting world of detectives and FBI agents that take down killers and kick butt.
Close for everyone, can't believe that someone tried to hurt the man. Almost had me wanting to skip a few chapters, so I could see the status of the shooting victim. No skipping for me.
Splitting up the team again, kinda ticked off some people. I like it better when they are all on the hunt.
Blake got some great payback.

This became one of my most favorite series from the first book, and every story just keeps getting better and better! To say that I was shocked by the content in the beginning of this story would be a huge understatement, and something that I never saw coming. I love the relationship between Blake and Fish, mainly because it's so unexpected and definitely not like Blake, which makes it even more special. He's become a large part of this series, and it's difficult to contemplate the series without him. Although I understand why it's like this, I have to admit that I really miss having Astra and the rest of the team around. Even though they both have their own issues, Blake and Astra are the kind of women that are easy to idolize. Which makes it easy to love their characters. I can't wait for more of this series! I would definitely recommend this book, series, and exceptional author.
In a “Shot to Kill”, Elle Gray has taken the Blake Wilder series to a new level of storytelling. The storyline, new characters and Ms Gray’s ability to tell a new and different story with each Blake Wilder book, gives the reader the need and want to anticipate her next book. I only wish that we didn’t have to wait until July of 2025 to read her next Blake Wilder book. Congratulations to Ms Gray for developing a “page turner” series.
I was disappointed How you kept referring to the councilman and the parking ticket that he could get convicted on that he had a perfect reputation, you had socials that proved he was at home and a video that showed someone broke into his car You really beat that 1 to death Parking ticket Parking ticket Parking ticket There's no way he could have been convictedThere's no way he could have been convicted
This series is one of my very favorites. Blake Wilder is so complex, yet very relatable. She's a rock star FBI agent that always seems to catch the bad guy, even if it is at a cost. If you're debating on reading this, don't. It won't disappoint. But you should start at the beginning some time.
As far as I am concerned, the Blake Wilder series exhibits the best of Elle Gray. Still recovering from the end of her last case, Blake’s friend and longtime CI Fish is shot in a drive by outside City Hall. Blake takes it upon herself to investigate the case. The story is fastly paced and tight with tension. Another winner in this series.
Blake Wilder’s good friend is shot and in a coma. Will he wake up, the doctor is not sure. So Blake does what she does best and starts her investigation to find who is responsible. This is one of the authors best Blake Wilder’s FBI mystery book. Once you start it you won’t want to put it down!
Elle Gray never lets you down as a great Author. I have yet to read a book of hers I did not like. This one was no exception, it keeps you guessing who was the criminal. One of her main Characters in her books is severely injured, which keeps the pages turning to see what is going to happen. I will not say any more than that no spoil alerts from me.
I am glad there are new characters in the story line. Also, it is encouraging to see Blake starting to get more of a personal life. Although I sometimes get tired of some of the story line. These Blake Wilder books are good and I keep reading. Start the series you will enjoy them.
Having followed this series from the start, I haven't been bored or disenchanted with Elle's writing. This series, and all her others, are full of action and suspense. They are well written and addictive. Well done, and may they continue for a long time!
The Blake Wilder series is one of my very favorite, this is one of my favorite books from the entire series, I absolutely could not put this book down. A highly recommend it and all of Elle Grey’s books they never disappoint !!
In this book, Blake's friend has been shot. Her team splits up to work on two cases. She tries to find out who shot her friend, with some twists along the way.
I received this book as a digital ARC. This is my honest and unsolicited review.
A Shot to Kill(Blake Wilder FBI Mystery Thriller Book 26)
OMG!!!!!! This book was amazing, I seriously thought it was going to make me cry. I was so worried about Fish, that I dreamed about him and Blake. I am happy that I didn't have to cry. I can't wait to read the next book.
Elle Gray is a fantastic writer. Her books are hard to put down and she has a way to make each one different but fluid. I would recommend this to anyone who loves suspenseful stories with very likeable characters.
I so enjoy Chief Blake Wilder’s unorthodox methods of investigation. It was refreshing to have more interaction with Nina & the addition of Opal. I read it every chance I had until the last satisfying sentence.
Blake (as always) works hard to find the people who tried to kill her friend. Lots of bad leads but in the end she solves the case. Very good story. Mystery solved to find out why and who one should read the book.
Elle Gray’s writing is the best. I have read all of her Blake Wilder books, except for the last two. This book was so good. I wish she would continue writing the Blake Wilder books. The main characters are more like family to me.
What could I possibly say that hasn't been said before? I love her writing and would recommend her books to anyone...crime lovers or not! Can't wait for the next book!
This is the first book in this entire series that I was able to predict who did it or who the UNSUB was. I didn't know how it would come about but knew who the UNSUB wad.
This was a excellent story about Blake trying to find out who is trying to kill her friend Fish and solving it with lots of suspense and action. Thank you for this awesome story.
Interesting characters and good mystery. Characters have personalities that you can relate to and humor. Can't wait to read the next one in this series
