Marcy Stevenson and her family arrive in Lucerne, Maine, to begin a much-needed vacation. After checking into an inn, her husband, Mark, takes their children, Jake and Gracie, for a swim. Tragedy strikes when the children are kidnapped, forcing Marcy to face the terrifying possibility of losing her entire family.
Hunter Blackwell, the skeptical sheriff of a small town, takes charge of the investigation, relying on his sharp instincts and seasoned investigative skills to track down the missing children. The twisted culprits, Travis and Troy Goodman, are bizarre twin brothers with a sinister history of kidnapping and murdering children, burying their small bodies deep within the forgotten forests, hidden among the roots of ancient trees.
Ten years later, Hunter Blackwell accepts a detective position in Denton, Texas, moving closer to Marcy. He has remained in contact with her over the years and hopes their relationship will begin to flourish. Several murders of well-respected men in the community have occurred and it becomes Hunters job to reveal a serial killer.
One Night in Maine is a twisting, spellbinding thriller meticulously designed to keep readers guessing at every turn in the story. The riveting conclusion is as exciting as the characters themselves, all of whom react to tragedy and murder in different ways. This is the first book in a gripping trilogy.
I loved this book from begining to end, it was a page turner. What a spin at the end. I hated that this character died, but understandably so. Ill be looking for more of this authors book. I highly recommend this as a top read.
The story itself was interesting. The writing was horrific! I felt absolutely no emotion for the characters in the book. Maybe a high school kid wrote this?
