Just barely a 2-star review only for how cool it was to see the variety of art styles and for the inclusion of the One Operation Joker. Most of these stories were just not good. Without the interesting takes with art styles, easily a 1-star book.

Batman: Dünya ne sunuyorsa bu da onu sunuyor. 13 farklı ülkeden yaratıcı ekibin kendi ülkelerinde geçen kısa Joker hikayeleri. Haliyle bir derleme kitabı. Konsept kimilerince ilginç bulunsa da bu tarz kitaplarda bariz bir kalite sorunu oluyor. Okuyucular açısından belki yazar/çizer tanımak adına güzel olabilir ama anlamlı içerik bakımından oldukça yetersiz. Hikayeler kısa tutulduklarından pek bir gelişme yaşanamadan sonlanıyorlar. Hikayeler ayrıca kendi aralarında ikiye bölünüyor. Bazı hikayelerde Joker farklı bir ülkede eyleme geçiyor bazısında da üçüncü bir karakterin Joker felsefesini benimsemesi ve Joker'a dönüşmesini okuyoruz. Şahsen bu ikili arasından karakterin kendisini gördüğüm hikayeleri yeğlerim. "Joker Felsefesi" diyerek dönüşüm geçirmek bana biraz gülünç geliyor.

Türkiye bölümüne değinmek gerekirse çok beğendiğimi söyleyemeyeceğim. Çoğu hikayeye göre daha uzun olmasına karşın bu fazla sayfa sayısından pek iyi faydalanamıyor. Dört sayfa boyunca Batman ile Joker'ın laf dalaşını okumak pek keyifli değildi. Hikaye bittiğinde Akdülger'in acemi bir yazar olduğunu hissetmemek mümkün değil.

Some stories were hit, some were miss, as per usual with anthologies. It was cool how they got authors from different countries to portray Joker in their culture and in their country. That was the most redeeming quality about this. Otherwise, it was just okay.

“Joker Dünya” güzel bir derleme olmuş. Fakat bence Metin Akdülger’in yazdığı metni ve Ethem Onur Bilgiç’in çizimleri diğerlerinin birkaç tık üstüne çıkmış. Özellikle Akdülger’in derin içerikli, yoğun, döneme uygun aktarımını ve dilini görünce çok şaşırdım. Cümbür cemaat beğendimiz oyunculuğu bir tarafa artık benim için özel bir yazar. Ülkemizin hayal gücünü Joker evreni ile harmanlayıp bu kadar güzel temsil ettikleri için her ikisine, JBC Yayınları’na, Ertan Ergil’e teşekkür ediyorum. Diğer eserlerin çoğunda eksik bir şeyler vardı. Sanki kültürel, coğrafi özellikler verilirken sadece orada kalmış kafalar. Felsefi taraf aksamış. Bu yüzden üç yıldız verdim. 🙏🏽🤩🧿

Even if I didn’t like all the writing, the bright art and each story being set in a different country is an awesome concept. Could be really funny too. People trying out to be a Joker of their country, Day of the Dead, plays on ethnic myths, etc.

Antologias são assim, não é mesmo? É difícil que todas as histórias estejam no mesmo nível de qualidade. Em Coringa: o Mundo o filho teu não foge à luta, e a qualidade varia muito nas histórias. As primeiras delas, dos Estados Unidos e da Espanha são muito boas. Vale lembrar que as colaborações dos países latinos que falam espanhol e português tratam o crime e a violência de uma forma bastante diferente dos demais. Argentina, Espanha e Brasil tem nessa antologia o melhor desempenho, fora os Estados Unidos. Vale destacar com muitos aplausos o trabalho de Felipe Castilho, Tainan Rocha e Mariane Gusmão, representantes do Brasil que trouxeram uma historia onde fica notável o empenho de todos em pesquisa não só do Universo DC mas no Universo da Loucura (ou seja, fatos e análises sobre a loucura) para compor essa participação. De longe o melhor trabalho da coletânea. Ficam com notas bem baixas os trabalhos que vieram da Turquia, da Coréia do Sul, da Polônia, mas com destaque framboesa de ouro para aquele da terra da poderosa e magnânima Panini ComicsTM, o da Itália.

3.75 rating! This was a short story collection from authors over 13 countries with their interpretation of the Clown Prince of Crime. I dislike short story collections but I liked most of these. Each had an unique take on the Joker with their home country as the background. My favorites included the U.S. , Cameroon, South Korea, and Japan (this one was the coolest)!

I když byl Batman: Svět hlavně reklama na jednotlivé země, na Jokera jsem se těšil. Je to přeci jen tvárnější postava, co dokáže i na malém prostoru rozpoutat solidní chaos. A tak je to i v první povídce, kde klaun vejde do dinneru... pointa je sice předvídatelná, ale atmosféra funguje a v podobném duchu jsem čekal většinu knihy.

No... to se úplně nestalo a takových příběhů je dost málo (vlastně jen Mexiko). Za mě u sborníku selhal hlavně editor, protože pár příběhů cílí čistě na domácí publikum (např. Německo, kde zahraniční čtenář nemá šanci docenit pointu) a nebo levicoví autoři využívají Jokera jako prostředek ke kritice vnitřní politické situace (Itálie, Španělsko, Turecko, Brazílie). Tvl, ta postava fakt nemá být aktivista. Tvůrci se aspoň snaží o +- přesah, Španělé do toho jdou na první dobrou.

Nejlepší příběh máme překvapivě my. Štěpán Kopřiva se krásně utrhnul ze řetězu, nabídnul jiný pohled a po strašně dlouhé době jsem u komiksu vyprsknul smíchy (všelidové hlasování). O to víc mě mrzí, že se jiné země nepouští do zajímavějších experimentů. Možná tak Korea, ale tam je to celé strašně uspěchané a zkratkovité.

Ještě docela cením Poláky, protože jsem od začátku knížky čekal na analogii se středověkým šaškem a aspoň někdo se jí docela pěkně chopil. Snaha narvat tam co nejvíc místních hrdinů je docela směšná (opět zamračeně koukám na spícího editora), ale celek funguje.

It's a great idea, and I love highlighting creators from around the world and giving them this platform, but even these ideas can't overcome the overwhelming Joker fatigue and the sense that there's nothing left to do with this character, or even much of a central character there at this point, rather than a motely collection of references and characteristics.

I loved the stories in this, especially the first one being a “sequel” of sorts to The 3 Jokers. Some of my favorites would have to be Germany, Czech Republic, Turkey, Argentina and Mexico. There were some that I wish we have more to go on like the one from Cameroon. The one from Japan was the strangest one for sure. I’ve heard of the story before I’m not big on anime/manga so I never bothered with it. However the small bit that we got in this graphic novel was certainly something. I’m almost tempted to buy the whole book just to see how it ends.

An assemblage of creators from across the globe lend their storytelling talents to depict DC Comics’ Clown Prince of Crime with the anthology Joker: The World. Thirteen creative teams from various countries present their interpretations of the popular villain, ranging from oddly humorous to downright terrifying. The USA team leads the charge, offering chills and thrills as the Joker drops in on a quiet Alaskan diner. Spain’s contribution sees the criminal on holiday, leaving Batman a postcard about his latest escapade. A weather machine and a music festival collide in the German offering, while the Italian crew highlights college protests and government crackdowns. Brazil’s story loops in Justice League member Fire as the country opens its own Arkham franchise, while Mexico’s Dia de los Muertos celebration sees a gangland luchador go up against the killer clown. The Czech Republic hosts auditions for an international Joker franchise, Turkey reimagines the famous characters during the 1800s Ottoman Empire, and South Korea depicts how the idea of madness can easily infect others. A football hooligan from Argentina recounts his rise in the ranks thanks to the Joker’s inspiration; a strange book written by the evil clown himself is a capable of twisting others in the entry from Cameroon. A battle over a famous painting comes from Poland, as an encounter with a grim Black Knight causes Joker to rethink his approach to that nation’s heroes. The book concludes with the first chapter of Japan’s One Operation Joker, as a chemical bath leads to a baby Batman being raised by his archenemy. The sheer number of talented artists highlighted within is the true prize of this collections, highlighting the international designs of comic artists worldwide: Standouts include the dark painterly style from Mexico, the manga influence from Japan, and the comically animated look from Germany. The tales within do fluctuate, with some being used as social commentary while others try to present an more in-continuity plot. Spain, Italy, Brazil, Argentina, and Poland definitely reflect their current societal hiccups, while the USA, Czech Republic, and Mexico offerings have a more DC Universe flavor. Joker: The World is a unique travelogue on the global influence of pop culture that can be undertaken from the comfort of one’s own home.

POPKULTUROWY KOCIOŁEK: Album Joker: Świat jak zostało wspomniane we wstępie, nie jest jednolitym dziełem, a zbiorem trzynastu krótkich historii, za które odpowiadają twórcy (scenariusz i rysunki) z trzynastu różnych krajów. Książę Zbrodni adaptowany jest tu przez autorów z takich państw jak:

Hiszpania, Niemcy, Włochy, Brazylia, Meksyk, Czechy, Turcja, Japonia, Korea, Kamerun, Polska, Argentyna, USA. Taka struktura sprawia, że każdy rozdział jest nowym i odmiennym spojrzeniem na mitologię Jokera, w której różni bohaterowie i złoczyńcy widzą go z innej perspektywy.

Komiks pokazuje, jak Joker oddziałuje na świat i na inne postacie z uniwersum. Każda opowieść przedstawia odmienne oblicze tego antybohatera – jego brutalność, szaleństwo i niezwykłą przenikliwość. Ponadto twórcy zatrudnieni do tego projektu starają się również dopasować go do klimatu swojego kraju.

Każda historia to osobne, zamknięte opowiadanie, w którym Joker staje się symbolem chaosu i anarchii. Dzięki temu czytelnik ma okazję zobaczyć, jak ten sam motyw szaleństwa jest interpretowany w różnych kulturach. Decydując się sięgnąć po ten album, trzeba jednak brać pod uwagę jego pewne niedociągnięcia. Zaserwowane tutaj scenariusze są dosyć krótkie, a przez to nie ma co liczyć na nadmierną głębię bohaterów czy świata przedstawionego. Całość opiera się tu głównie na wartkiej akcji wymieszanej z odrobiną dramatyzmu i szczyptą humoru (całkiem niezłego). Najciekawiej pod tym względem wypada moim zdaniem praca Felipe Castilho (Brazylia) najsłabiej zaś scenariusz Inpyo Jeona (Korea Południowa)...

Jokera není nikdy dost - přesně tohle dokazuje toto souborné vydání třinácti příběhů o Jokerovi z celého světa.

Každý z příběhů je autentický jak stylem kresby, tak stylem vyprávění, ale i samotnou zápletkou. Některé mě bavily více a některé méně, ale skvělé na všech bylo to, že na každém z nich bylo hned poznat, z jaké země pocházejí, protože se v nich ta daná země krásně odrážela.

Samozřejmě tu nechybí ani český komiks, který má na svědomí Štěpán Kopřiva a Michal Suchánek. A musím říct, že jejich dílo předčilo všechny ostatní Jokery z tohoto vydání. A to nejenom velmi provedenou kresbou, ale i scénářem. Český Joker je totiž dokonalým odrazem původního Jokera, neboť má přesně ty vlastnosti, které by měl mít. Ilustrace na přebalu je taktéž práce českého ilustrátora a také se moc povedla. 😍

Jako další se mi hodně líbil komiks od tvůrců z Jižní Korei, který se tomu našemu kresbou sice nevyrovnal, ale scénář zde byl hodně zajímavý, se skvělým vývojem a koncem. Svou kresbou mě pak oslovil komiks ze Spojených států.

Velice zajímavý mi také přišel poslední příběh, který mají na svědomí tvůrci z Japonska. Jako jediný příběh je napsaný stylem mangy a mě tohle spojení komiksu a mangy do jednoho souborného vydání hodně bavilo.

Pokud jste milovníky Jokera, tak věřím, že se Vám tato kniha bude líbit a že i vy si zde mezi tolika variantami Jokera najdete svého favorita.

❌ NO CONECTÉ 😪

Lamento decirlo porque el Joker es, definitivamente, mi villano favorito e incluso mi personaje de cómic preferido. Pero esta presentación en particular no terminó de convencerme.

♦️ Las ilustraciones están buenísimas, de eso no hay duda. El formato es lo que no me cierra. Hablando mal y pronto, te deja re manija. Es como un compendio de los primeros episodios de cada una de las historias del Joker que han ido apareciendo alrededor del mundo, pero no son historias en sí.

Desde mi punto de vista, hubiese sido interesante que resumieran cada uno de los relatos presentes, en vez de ponerte la primera parte y después saltar al siguiente.

👀 Ojo, quizás lo hicieron así. No estoy segura porque no las leí, pero me da la sensación de que no, ya que todas parecen ser introducciones que, cuando van a empezar a narrar los hechos, ir al nudo de la historia, se cortan y pasan a otra diferente.

Se me ocurre que es una buena opción para un coleccionista, para alguien que tenga un amplio librero lleno de cómics y NG en su haber, y que quiera añadir esta especie de "catálogo" de historias del jajas a su colección. Porque, evidentemente, es eso. Una suerte de "exposición" que recopila de todo un poco para que conozcas las adaptaciones que existen de este personaje en otras partes del mundo, fuera de USA.

🙁 Pero si lo que estás buscando es una obra hecha y derecha, con su inicio, nudo y desenlace, o una antología propiamente dicha, este libro no es para vos. Yo estaba buscando eso y, la verdad, me decepcionó un poco.

Jakiś czas temu na polski rynek wyszło bodajże bardzo podobne dzieło, zbierające opowiadania o Batmanie, ale nie było to coś szczególnego uwagi. Teraz wyszedł Joker i oferuje 13 opowiadań z różnych krajów, ale jest jeszcze mniej atrakcyjne w odbiorze.

Mamy tutaj przekrój z całego świata. Hiszpania, Włochy, Czechia, Turcja, Japonia, Korea, Meksyk, Brazylia, USA, Argentyna, Kamerun czy wreszcie moja rodzima Polska. A może niestety. Każde opowiadanie jest inne, co dobrze świadczy o całości i w większości z nich Joker to naprawdę Joker. Przedstawiciel chaosu ma tu wiele do zrobienia.

Naprawdę fajna opowiastka łączy mi się chyba tylko z niemiecką odsłoną klauna. Od biedy jeszcze japońska, ale to wchodzi w skład wydawanej na polskim rynku mangi pt. Joker. Operacja Specjalna. I to w sumie tyle. Lwia część jest mocno generyczna, w tym polska, co widać zwłaszcza po bohaterach... Najgorzej wypada chyba Korea i Kamerun. Meksyk jest najbardziej makabryczny.

Co gorsza, lwia część historii wygląda zwyczajnie fatalnie. Fajnie, że dano tu możliwość wydania prac osób, które pewnie bym pominął, ale ma to "umowną" jakość. Tą odsłonę Jokera mogę polecić tylko fanom postaci i nie wiem czy nie wyposzczonym tematyką.

If you haven’t heard of this graphic novel yet, it’s an anthology featuring stories told by creative teams from many countries across the world. Each story takes place in the home country of the creative team, and are all brand new stories. This series of short, heavily-illustrated guides to the worlds of comic heroes and villains is a lot of fun. They’re very quick reads, and serve as excellent introductions, one-stop reference books and curious for fans new and old. The Joker’s book is appropriately zanier and more twisted, with riotous colors and scribblings from the mind of the demented clown. This anthology is a good collection of stories with more highs than lows in it, each story here has a lot to bring to the table, and displays Joker in ways that are both familiar and new. With so many excellent stories and wonderful creative teams, you’re sure to find more than one tale in here you enjoy. Joker: The World really is a book worth checking out, if only to explore the vast array of countries and stories told within.

Since it's an anthology, I liked some stories better than the others.

My favourite comics have got to be The Prologue and the ones based in Spain, Italy, Germany, Brazil, and South Korea. The Argentinian story was an interesting approach as well.

I won't write a detailed review, since I usually don't read anthologies in one sitting (as an autistic person I struggle with switching from one storyline to another, I need time to process first), so I don't remember everything equally.

However, I do have to admit, I enjoyed the first half the most and I'm most likely to reread the first chapters. I feel like they explored the idea of The Joker, his motives and personal philosophy the best. I lost a bit of interest when approaching the second half of this volume and that's one of the reasons why I finished it over a year later.

I feel very bad about rating a graphic novel, let alone a Joker one, this low. But given it took me four months to read I think it's understandable.

Some of the short stories in this are very good, others weren't quite as interesting to me. The drawing style was also very different story to story and I find I need to enjoy an art style to truly appreciate the story being told.

I did like that the stories all felt like Joker stories even as they felt very different. The blurb at the back states these are all authentic - I'd be curious if fans from those countries agree, but the unexplainablility of the Joker remained true in each.

I'm not sure this is one I'd pick up again quickly, but I suspect it will have very strong reread value.

Decent book. A collection of short, but not particularly sweet stories about The Joker set in different countries (Italy, Japan, Cameroon etc.).
Each story is drawn and written by different people, which makes each one unique in its own right.
But at the same time, because all of them are so short - you never really get invested in any of them.
The first one was great (written by Geoff Johns with amazing art as always by Jason Fabok), but some of the others fall quite flat.
I enjoyed some of them, but overall the book is a little underwhelming.
However, the quality and build of the book is outstanding!
I’d only recommend to a hardcore Joker fan.

I bought this because of the Johns/Fabok piece, but ended up pretty well satisfied with the rest of it. Most of the writers use the platform to explore their ideas of their own countries, and how easily they see the Joker fitting into them. Some of the artists are well worth borrowing for future American comics, at the very least Ingo Römling (Germany), Oscar Pinto (Mexico), Germán Peralta (Argentina) (who has, but could certainly use an emphasis), and Jacek Michalski (Poland), who’s lacking a biographical sketch in the collection.

I don’t know if other collections like this DC’s done or will soon be publishing offer the same experience. I certainly found this one fruitful.

Joker: The World is a DC Comics graphic novel where the 14 short stories contained within are produced by 14 different international creative teams.

This is a companion piece to Batman: The World released in 2023. This version tackles aspects of the Joker. Some stories feature the Joker we all know and love and other stories it’s a unique take on the character. I personally struggled to get through this book and the only story I really found of any interest was the opening tale written by Geoff Johns and drawn by Jason Fabok. Many of the stories felt like they were trying too hard and just didn’t work for me. Seeing the different art styles was interesting, but not enough to warrant a read.

Still not my thing...
First, there was 'Batman: The World' and it was....average.

Here, we have the same idea but with a focus on the Joker. Most of the pieces are Joker 'on location' in the nations that the writers are from. Gee, isn't that original? None of them stray too far from Joker being the usual, 'agent of chaos'.
The oddest piece is probably 'One Operation Joker' which has Joker goading Batman to throw him into a new vat of chemicals (the same as those that created the Joker)...only to have Batman turned into a diaper wearing baby.

Honestly? I really enjoyed this anthology. Some of these art styles were stunning and all of the authors managed to portray the Joker in the aesthetic of their respective country.
Personally, I enjoyed Italy, Germany, Poland, South Korea and the Czech Republic the most!
I got what I expected and I love having this in my collection.

Various artists and, unfortunately, a very average level of Joker stories. There are maybe three good stories in this comic, the rest are completely bland. A big disappointment, especially since the Joker is a colorful and intriguing character.
