Thank you so much to the lovely author for sending me a last minute arc copy. This is my first book by Elle but it certainly won’t be my last.
Luna is suspicious of her long time boyfriend’s fidelity and her bestie insists on taking her to see a voodoo priest, Bash.
From the moment Bash laid eyes on Luna, he knew that she belonged to him and his ancient ancestors. So, what shall he do? Woo her? Of course not. Not when he can use her voodoo doll to manipulate her into becoming his slave.
I loved every dark minute of this. Bash has no shame in his game and uses the great magic at his fingertips to do what he wants with her, when he wants.
If you like morally gray (the darker the better), dub-con, non-con, bdsm, revenge (the bloodier the better, and savage spice, then this novella is definitely for you!

This was a really cool concept for a novella! Set in New Orleans, a skeptical girl goes into a Voodoo shop and meets a Voodoo Priest to uncover if her bf is cheating on her. From there the plot just keeps getting better with some mystical paranormal vibes that happen.
I’ve never read a book like this and everything about this story is right up my alley. You have magic, age gap, medium spice BDSM, French Quarters, stalker type energy! I mean what is not to like!

Holy hotness. Essentially the FMC’s world is flipped upside down when suspects her bf is cheating, and is taken to a voodoo priest to find out the truth. The story is centered around voodoo dolls and occult magic, and has intense spice. Definitely a quick steamy read that you’ll read in one sitting!

April 30, 2025I feel like I shouldn't rate this seeing as I decided at 44% to DNF it. I've done a lot of highlighting in this book. Nothing good though, just every red flag this guy waved about. He's manipulative and it ain't cute. I know consensual non-consent is a thing, but this ain't that. She's happy and content at the end, good for her. Even though it's giving Stockholm Syndrome, at least she won't spend eternity in suffering misery.
I need more of Toulouse. The only character with any sense happened to be a cat.

This a good paranormal, black magic story. This has a little bit of everything Voodoo Prist, a talking familiar, cheating, and betrayal.
This gives this book the meat to keep you reading. In the end even the most seemingly normal person can have a darkness so dark, that it can make them do what they wouldn’t normally do.

Luna’s “BFF” takes her to see a Voodoo priest, Bash, to see if her boyfriend is cheating on her. The second Bash senses Luna, he’s addicted and needs her to bend to his will.
I wish Lunas character stood up for herself more. Towards the end I got the sense of “Bash made me do it” rather than her just being a badass. If there’s a book 2, hopefully we see more of that!

This was a pretty good quick read with a unique premise - a voodoo priest with an obsession - but some things fell flat for me. Kayla and Josh really seem like cardboard cutouts rather than real villains. Luna didn't really have much personality and was kind of an idiot doormat half the time and I couldn't get how she never saw things as they were.
- I really did like Sebastian's character and his quip filled familiar, Toulouse the cat (real Salem from Sabrina vibes). You really got a sense for his need for power and morally corrupt/ grey nature. Yeah he's a bit creepy and dubious, but some parts were ok. I was looking for a bit more romance on his end (since his desire for her seems to be mostly sexual) but it was ok for a short book.
- I really didn't care for Luna - I was expecting more of a girl who's going through it learns to be a badass, "put on her big girl panties and handle it" kind of thing.... But we don't get that. She's dull, lets her friend treat her like crap and is soooo in love with a shitty boyfriend who barely seems to like her or give her the time of day.
She's constantly acting like a doormat and her whole personality was super dull and meek. That was okay at first but by the end I had hoped she'd have more agency after being with Sebastian, but nope, she basically gives herself over to another controlling personality (Sebastian) and continues to coast along doing what he wants her to do.
- The scene with her "retribution" just seemed boring to me. Like yes this person wronged you and you wanted them gone but still didn't have the spine to do it yourself or just get over it? You just cry the whole time and yell... not very hardcore IMO. Also who cleans up the scene? lol it just seeming like a "sensation told me to / made me do it" type thing and not like she ACTUALLY wanted revenge.
- Lastly the smut was ok, some of it was kind of hot but some I expected a bit more. Definitely not bad at all I just wanted more and the story felt a bit rushed to me.

This was a short and dark read about a priest who found a woman and just couldn't let her go. Let me tell you, the way things unfolded in this book was...different. It also kinda went from 0 to 100 real quick. Which, I guess....it's a novella but even I got whiplash from how fast it picked up. Things were going slowly and I almost felt like Bash didn't really like his familiar...which is an interesting choice. I was also hoping that there was going to be more of a the FMC turning to the MMC's side. Instead he kinda used his power to manipulate her. Which was kinda...meh. I liked everything else about this book except how the "relationship" developed. It just felt like it was fully manipulated instead of something that built or even insta love. It was just...different. It also felt kind of weird to me since there is already a bad connotation with Voodoo and now we have this guy who took a woman who pretty much used his power to make her feel something for him. When she doesn't appear to even have any feelings for him at all. The situation with her boyfriend was terrible! Omg I didn't expect that things were going to play out the way that it did. That was the craziest part of the story.
The spice was ok. I give it a 2 out of 5. There are some spicy dream scenes and then of course they get together themselves. I had checked out at the time that it all happened. Overall I give this book a 3 out of 5. The mystery of what was going on with the boyfriend was probably the most interesting part of the story. When the reveal happened I was speechless! I guess I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a crazy, occult read.

This little novella had me hooked from page one. It’s short, but it doesn’t waste a second dragging you into its shadowy world of heartbreak, revenge, and ritual magic. I’m a sucker for anything steeped in voodoo and New Orleans lore, and Elle Sparrow delivered exactly the sinister, sultry atmosphere I was craving.
Luna’s pain and fury felt raw and real—convinced she’s been betrayed, she reaches for vengeance, only to find herself tangled up in something far more dangerous (and intoxicating). Enter Bash: the voodoo priest who absolutely stole the show for me. He oozes dark charisma, gave me total Dr. Facilier vibes, and turned every scene into a power-laced dance between temptation and surrender. The way Sparrow used the voodoo doll as both a plot device and a conduit of intimacy? Chef’s kiss. It was eerie, sensual, and wildly original.
The supernatural elements here aren’t just window dressing; they shape the heat, the obsession, and the surrender that drives Luna’s arc. I loved how ritual and desire intertwined—it felt depraved in the best way, and the voyeuristic undertones only made it more deliciously unhinged.
If I had one critique, it’s that I wish it were a touch longer—there’s so much potential in this world, and I would have devoured another hundred pages of Bash pulling Luna deeper into his darkness. But as a quick, decadent bite of dark romance, it’s unforgettable.

This was such a dark and twisted novella. I loved the twist on the usual stalker, this time we have a ancient, gorgeous, black voodoo boka who runs a voodoo shop with his familiar cat. Sebastian lures Luna in and wanting her submission, he creates a voodoo doll to bring her haunting dreams and pleasure surrounding each night. I thought Elle wrote Luna perfectly as this innocent naive girl who’s boyfriend was neglectful and may be stepping out on her. I loved when she finally ran into Bash’s arms in emotional pain and he used that moment of surrender to have her finally in his clutches. Luckily, she is able to embrace her submission and find peace and pleasure in his hedonistic arms (and rope) This novella was so spicy, you will want to read it at night, alone. You may want to brush up on your French or open a translation app to understand some of Bash’s sweet commands and asides to his “dark moon”. The addition of the paranormal was just right in this story and helped Luna become his dark violent little doll.

Our FMC is a woman suspecting her long-term boyfriend of cheating on her. In order to reassure her, her best friend convinces her to walk into the shop of our MMC, who is asked to use his abilities to work out the truth about her boyfriend.
This was a very spicy, short and dark romance. PLEASE read the trigger list, this one is not for the faint hearted. I absolutely loved how short and packed with a punch this one was. I must admit I didn't enjoy all the ... specifics *wink wink nudge nudge*, because I'm not personally into that, but it was so well-written I kind of almost forgot that part!!
A genuinely fun dark romance read, but only if you're okay with reading genuinely dark stuff. I do hope the author chooses to do more of these short and dark spicy romances, it is a style that clearly suits her writing and storytelling technique!

This was a dark tale of magic and spice. After telling her best friend, Kayla, that she suspected her boyfriend of cheating on her, our FMC, Luna, gets pulled into the mysterious le Désir Mystique, a shop in the French Quarter of New Orleans. There they meet the owner, Sebastian Broussard, and Kayla offers to pay for a reading so Luna can find out this truth. This ritual reading required the crafting of a Voodoo doll containing some of Luna's hair and blood, and while both Luna and Kayla thought the ritual was over with the burning of the doll after the reading was completed, not everything was as it seemed.
This story gets very dark, very quickly, and I'd definitely advise checking out the trigger warnings, but if you're after some darker, magical spice, this might be right up your alley.
Personally, I enjoyed it. It was a fun short read, and I got to "meet" Toulouse (gotta love a sassy feline).

This book dives deep into revenge, desire, and letting go of control. Some scenes had my eyes practically jumping out of my face. It’s intense, it’s deranged, and it definitely doesn’t care about playing nice.
If you like your romances dark, steamy, and toeing the line of taboo, this one will absolutely cast a spell on you. Just a serious heads-up—read the trigger warnings before diving in. You’ve been warned… and tempted.

This was a fun & quick read! Luna had some rage n I was here for it! In a nutshell she thinks her man is cheating her best friend thinks there’s no way he could be(red flag #1 that’s your girl of course he’s cheating roll with it!) her bestie takes her to this place that does readings etc and Luna is all about believing it’s all bullshit just to take people’s money. Bash def sells it and agrees he’s cheating!
I wish we knew more about bash.. his age etc I’m taking he’s older by her comments about of he moves. Also red flag #2 the bf lied and from that moment I knew(well yall will find out!!) also they have been dating for a long time but don’t live together?? Red flag #3 lol..

Pleaseee, read the trigger warnings. As a dark romance girlie though, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the length of it, the occultish vibes it breathed. There was a bit of dubious con/noncon in it which I’m not usually the biggest fan of, but this book didn’t actually bother me too much with it.
I think that it followed a semi straightforward plot line(you kinda have to with such a book/novella), but the ending still surprised me which I 100% was not expecting. I also really liked the setting being in New Orleans, I fell like it gave it a flair of authenticity and made it interesting.
Overall I really liked the book

I took a few days to write this because I needed to let the darkness of this book settle. I wanted to ensure that Cajun high was real—and it absolutely was.
Sebastian is the ultimate Shadowman. Watching Luna spiral into his control was fascinating. I loved the subtle details, like how his name evolved in her internal monologue from "Mister" to "Sebastian" to "Bash" and finally... "Master."
A top read of 2025 for me. 100% recommend for Paranormal Romance lovers who like it dark.

I took a few days to write this because I needed to let the darkness of this book settle. I wanted to ensure that Cajun high was real—and it absolutely was.
Sebastian is the ultimate Shadowman. Watching Luna spiral into his control was fascinating. I loved the subtle details, like how his name evolved in her internal monologue from "Mister" to "Sebastian" to "Bash" and finally... "Master."
A top read of 2025 for me. 100% recommend for Paranormal Romance lovers who like it dark.

A quick, dark, spicy story about a girl named Luna and a voodoo priest named Bash. Luna suspects her boyfriend is cheating on her and her best friend convinces her to seek the truth by visiting a voodoo priest. Luna is skeptical about the whole thing and when Bash confirms her suspicion, she's even more doubtful. As part of the ritual a voodoo doll of Luna is made. Bash pretends to burn it after he's done with her reading but secretly keeps it and uses it to lure Luna back to him. Bash comes across as dark and deceiving. Through controlling Luna with the doll, he develops a friendship with her to seduce her and uses her cheating boyfriend as the excuse to darken her. This was an interesting story line and good spicy, mystical read.

Not my usual reading genre but Elle Sparrow came to my attention through some of her Ddlg stories which intrigued me. This is a dark occult story riddled with sinister magic and coated in lust. It's an easy to read novella, brilliantly written and original.
After discovering her boyfriend and best friend are lovers Luna seeks the power of voodoo to enact her revenge. Sebastien Broussard, an Oungan, becomes her master. Able to control her mind and body he helps her exact the terrible revenge Luna thinks is necessary.
Though I usually avoid horror stories I found this one interesting, engaging, full of atmosphere and chemistry, and a creepy delight! High four stars!.

Luna thinks her boyfriend Josh of 5 years is cheating on her, and her best friend since 7th grade, Kayla takes Luna to get a reading done from Sebastien, the Voodoo priest. Luna wants to know the truth if Josh is cheating on her. Sebastien is a Boko, a Voodoo priest that practiced both light and dark magics. Luna's soul called to the dark side of Sebastien, but his cat, his familiar Toulouse, advised him to leave the human alone. Luna keeps finding herself thinkin bout Bash and his shop all the time and doesn't know why, but Bash has been usin the Voodoo magic to manipulate her. This is a fast-paced read and good.

This was a very different book from what I have come to expect from this author – but is was a very good one. What started to appease her friend, Luna goes to an occult shop to find out if her boyfriend is cheating on her. Bash, a voodoo priest realizes she is the one and does not destroy the voodoo doll he created to do Luna’s reading. Rather, that voodoo doll soon becomes the conduit between Bash and Luna as he makes her his. This is a quick, dark read that has a lot to it. I have never read a book quite like this before and I found it to be very enjoyable.

This is a story of revenge and also longing. The voodoo priest wants a woman to finally be his. Can he get Luna to accept all of him while also getting her the answers and revenge she seeks?

This novella presents an intriguing concept! Set in New Orleans, it follows a skeptical girl who visits a Voodoo shop and meets a Voodoo Priest to uncover whether her boyfriend is cheating. From then on, the plot continues improving, incorporating some mystical and paranormal elements.
I've never read a book like this, and everything about the story is right up my alley. It features magic, an age gap, medium-spice BDSM, the French Quarter, and some stalker-like energy! I mean, what's not to like? I might be bias but I enjoyed this book so much I was hungry for more.

Vengeance, magic, and obsession mix in this novella. A meek and vulnerable woman is seeking answers that a mysterious man is all too willing to give. That visit came at a cost she knew nothing about until dreams and thoughts unlike any she’d had before were plaguing her. In the middle of it all is the man with eyes too green to be normal and a need to own her soul. A nice touch of revenge rounds the story out perfectly.

This is a book that if you have triggers you definitely need to pay attention to them in the beginning of the book. This is a dark romance.
Luna and Bash
This story has a lot of twists and turns that are unexpected. I was shocked when I learned about the cheating and who it was. I was not expecting that. Bash was a surprise and I was glad that he took such good care of Luna. This is definitely a different story than I am use to reading but it was a good one for being different.

This was a good book to read. Luna is a scorned woman out for revenge. Becoming a person who starts to believe in the dark arts of Voodoo she really puts it to the test and the fun starts there. I loved the setting of New Orleans and I liked the storyline. The characters were also good. This is not the typical Elle Sparrow book I have read in the past. This was quite a bit different, but I did in fact like the book.

This was so delicious. A short read, but packs a dark punch that I couldn't get enough of. When your world is flipped upside down with thoughts of your partner cheating and your taken to see a Voodoo Priest to find out the truth, but are still skeptical and then the truth comes out who do you turn to? Find out what Luna experiences in this dark and delicious read. Just note this is not your sappy romance, it is dark and it is delicious but there is a hea.

I loved this! It's a short & quick read. This is Luna & Bash's story & it was awesome! She's sure her boyfriend is cheating & is taken to a Voodoo Shop in New Orleans to find out the truth. When she meets Bash, he had to have her. This novella was freaking awesome & the spice was fantastic! It's a great mix between spice, & some paranormal things. He really messes with her, he's a voodoo priest.
I highly recommend this novella & author!
