Kinsley Kincaid is a long time fan of psychotic dark book boyfriends. She does not limit it to just Dark Romance but Taboo as well, yes the scandal!
She enjoys pushing boundaries, so don’t be surprised when you see this also reflected in her work. Be sure to stalk her on her socials and reader group shared with Isla Gray; Tainted N Taboo.
thank you so much kinsley for giving me the opportunity to arc read !!
this is very dark and taboo. check your triggers and content warnings before reading 🖤 MMF, revenge, obsession, stalking, intimidate family relations, cannibalism, blood play, gore/violence, enemies to lovers, bullying
My baby dexy 😭😭😭 I love him and this book so much. I have been itching for his story since Sutton asylum and it exceeded my expectations ten fold. I loved Liam so fucking much. Him and Izzy are perfect for Dexy baby. Probably my fav book written by Kinsley to date 🥺
well... i did love Liam and Dex and Izzie, Jasper and Mama... great characters but i realized i should had read first Sutton Asylum first...so... I am Caching on it!
I enjoyed this book but it’s definitely not for everyone!! Horror erotica with MF and MM relationships. I loved reading about Dex’s life and how he matures at the end of the book! If you like super taboo and dark reads… this is for you
Beautifully Broken Dex!! I had forgotten how much I loved these characters. It just goes to show how well Sutton Asylum was written when it all came rushing back within the first few minutes of reading this follow up book.
This book gives an insight in life after Sutton Asylum and how Dex begins to heal from his childhood trauma. And let me tell you there were a few twists I didn't expect. The characters in this book were phenomenal and as much as I hate to say it I was left wanting more. I was so involved in the story that when I got to the end I was like wth?
That being said be prepared for another dark and taboo read with while at times made me question my moral compass, had me in my feels. There's spice, tortured souls, and trauma wrapped up in a great plot and characters that came alive as I read.
Please review the trigger and content warnings! There's siblings x2 and some tough subjects that may be hard to read. But if you read Sutton Asylum, this is just a tad bit more!! Definitely a must read/add to my collection!!
Fantastic new release by Kinsley Kincaid!! I absolutely loved Dex in Sutton Asylum and grew to love him even more in Sick Obsession.
I really enjoyed learning more about Dex and gaining an understanding of what led him to where he is in his life at the start of a book. Watching Dex come out of his shell and heal throughout the story with the support of his ever growing family was heartwarming.
Please read the trigger warnings. Your mental health matters.
I received an ARC copy and am leaving an honest review.
Loved Dex so much! My heart broke for him and reading his backstory was so sad! Also I love this messed up family I mean Iris Jasper and Dex They have their own fucked up way of found family When I saw the reviews I saw MM romance so I didn’t like the Izzie plot I could say she was boring Liam and Dex had more chemistry and their tension and story was good izzie just felt like odd one in the group in my opinion!
I can’t do it. The minute sweet home alabama twins came into scene I couldn’t keep going 🤡 this is up to par with my feels towards Jodie King’s Til Def
I need to wash rinse repeat my brain now, k thanks.
This was a beautiful, amazing, twisted story and it starts with a bang! Kinsley never disappoints, I would honestly read her grocery list because I’m sure it’s just as mesmerizing.
Dexy, my beautiful broken boy, I loved getting more of his story after Sutton. I loved his dynamic with Liam and the bond they shared. Izzy was a riot, she had me laughing throughout. The dynamic between the 3 is something so lovely and needed here.
I loved uncovering the layers of Liam and Izzy, they aren’t these normal neighbors… there is far more happening here. Their relationship is so protective and reminds me so much of Iris and Jasper. But it also shows that they are truly a family, healing and sweet but their crazy is for a reason.
Overall we get this twisted, depraved and tabøø tale with poignant and sweet elements because it’s Kinsley. Dexy shedding his shell “sweater” was the biggest comfort and growth I’ve seen and I loved it. It had my heart squeezing.

Quotes "It's too late, can't they see? She is already dead. No one can save her. Just like no one saved me." "But you're gentle. You are kind. You are cherished. And you are so fucking strong." "The truth is better than lies, even if the truth is fucking horrific." "You taught me pleasure isn't always pain. You freed me." "I got you, my beautiful broken boy."
It goes as no surprise that this book was equally as, if not more, dark than Sutton Asylum. This book had me feeling queasy in parts and really had my stomache churning. Kinsley has a way of writing such dark books in a way that continues to grip you and intrigue you enough for you to continue reading more. This book has various dark themes within it, please do ensure you read them before you pick it up.
For the ultimate experience, I do recommend you read Sutton Asylum first. It isn’t essential but I feel you get an overall feel and connection to Dex, if you do so.
It's possible that this will be one of my longer reviews to date.
It must be noted that my introduction to Kinsley's work was through "Sutton Asylum". Asylum readings are one of my faves, and I was extremely impressed.
However, in Sutton, the Ashford twins steal the show, and we only get a dimly lit glimpse of our sweet broken Dexy.
So, with where the story ended in Sutton, I immediately needed whatever Kinsley was preparing. I knew I wanted to read Sick Obsession, and so I waited.
…it finally came and I wasn’t ready….
She reunited her readers with the Iris and Jasper and paid tribute to my favorite crazy twins, but this time she provided us with a magnification glass perspective of Dexy.
It was very intriguing
We visit an excellent in-depth view of trauma pain and suffering and its long-term repercussions on a person's mental and physical well-being.
We see the power of what a loving supportive family can do for a shattered soul, and that all good foundations are not limited to conventional family dynamics.
This story was far from being one dimensional. There are so many layers to this story and these characters.
And right when you are in the heart of it .. my just heart wrenching … Kinsley surprises you with malevolent mayhem at the hands of the hands of the sick and twisted .
I talking savage feral disgusting heinous behaviors take place and I know I had my hand over my mouth through out this book.
The writing seem almost methodical in the way she was able to put the reader in the scene on every single page of this book
I mean she made my friend stop and ask ..—Is Kinsley ok?
On a serious note…
This question did bring to surface for me a reminder of the dark corners of the mind authors often time venture to deliver these entertaining stories. I can only speculate that visiting these areas, for some, can take a toll on their mental health and I hope that Kinsley can find solace in knowing that in whatever she may have endured in writing this ..please know that every word was seen heard and appreciated. I hope if it came to it, you gave yourself space to regenerate your spirit.
I say all this to say I was surprisingly moved by this story even with all the blood guts and gore..
Yall when Dexy’s _________ was there and Dexy ____________________________________________. He grabbed his _____________ and just started __________________________________
You are gonna want to know what fills in these blanks so read this book. 👀
Oh what an amazing follow up to Suttons Asylum We asked for Dex’s story and boy did you deliver…..
ALL the feels of the depravity we love and have come to expect but also dare I say a love story unfolding before our eyes The way we see Dex come into his own and out of his head the more in love I fell with them all
3.5⭐️, rounded up. I read this without reading Sutton Asylum, but it was pretty quick to get into the story and is a quick read. Check your TW if you need to, but this was dark but also beautiful as Dex finds his way moving forward after his trauma. The moment he shed his sweater had me smiling for him!
What to expect: -Taboo -MMF -Revenge -Voyeurism -Blood Play -Male SA & Mental Health -Family Abuse
“Your past does not have to define you. You are not alone. Your story does not end here; it’s only the beginning.”
Just another dark, deliciously twisted, and depraved book that I absolutely should NOT have liked as much as I did!! Dex has a very tragic past, that we learn is even more tragic than initially thought, and because of that he finds it hard to trust anyone outside of Iris and Jasper.
"It's too late, can't they see? She is already dead. No one can save her. Just like no one saved me."
After Dexy relocates with Iris and Jasper, he very quickly develops an obsession with his neighbor, Izzie. Though he watches her every day from a distance, what Dex doesn’t know is that Izzie, and her brother Liam, have a dark and secretive past of their own.
"The truth is better than lies, even if the truth is fucking horrific."
The relationship that develops between the three of them may be unconventional, but it’s also full of acceptance, passion, and healing. Kinsley really knows how to push boundaries and cross lines, while also delivering funny and emotional happily ever afters.
"You taught me pleasure isn't always pain. You freed me."
This book is absolutely not for the faint of heart, and truly takes the disturbing and taboo to the next level. This is a beginner level dark romance, and I am begging you to please read the TW’s before starting this one. Your mental health matters more than your book count!
“It’s too late, can’t they see? She is already dead. No one can save her. Just like no one saved me.” “But you’re gentle. You are kind. You are cherished. I’m truly speechless. This book was absolutely amazing and I loved every second of it!
I loved learning more about Dexy, his past truly was heartbreaking and learning more about it made me understand him more as a character.
The relationship development between Dex and Liam was so sweet and I loved how understanding Liam was to Dexy’s struggles and helped to heal him. Izzie was a fun character who made me laugh, and the bond between her and Liam reminded me of Iris & Jasper.
Also loved seeing Iris and Jasper and learning what they were doing after Sutton. Iris might be unhinged and crazy, but she’s so sweet and protective towards her family, exactly like Liam was towards his sister.
Overall an amazing read. I would love to read more about Dex and the other characters in the future.
Please check the trigger warnings before reading! Your mental health matters.
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review. Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book.
Sick Obsession By Kinsley Kincaid 5 ⭐ Please check your trigger warnings and content warnings before reading this
As soon as Kinsley said she was going to write Dexy's book I was so excited! When I read Sutton Asylum I knew that I wanted to know more about him and his background. When she started teasing Dex's book I was so ready for it and couldn't wait to dive in.
I don't know where to begin because oh my goodness I loved this book so much. Reading Dexy's backstory it shattered my heart and I was so sad for him. I wanted to go into this book and care for him as much as Iris ( his mama did) I can't believe that he went through that. All I'm going to say is good for him to get revenge on her.
Going forward to Dexy being at the barn with Iris and Jasper I loved it so much. I loved how much they cared for him and took care of him always 🩶 when Dexy would sit in the meadow he would watch her, just watch her as she picked her flowers in her pretty sundresses and sun hats. Iris took Dex's Obsession and brought her to the barn and he wanted her to know that he wouldn't do anything to hurt her. He just liked watching her because she looked for peaceful and she was beautiful.
Liam at first wasn't sure what to think of Dex, he told him something and he immediately felt guilty for being rude about it and hurting him. He saw the look on Dex's face and knew that his intention wasn't to hurt him. When Liam and Dex started getting closer it made my heart so happy. I loved that Liam and Izzie helped Dex heal. Reading this just made my heart so happy for Dexy and he finally was able to feel free of his demons.
The eye ball scene..... Yeah you read that the eye ball scene
I was honored to ARC read Sick Obsession! Thank you to the author for the opportunity! You poured your heart out in this one!
Please Read Responsibly & Check Triggers!
If you’re looking for a sick obsession, look no further! Kinsley Kincaid delivers a gravely disturbed, twisted, and an extraordinarily unhinged plot! Dex’s vile history behind his institutionalization makes reading his story and getting to see him come out of his “sweater” (shell) actually quite touching! But don’t let that fool you! This book has the depravity and shock value that will have you audible!!! I don’t want to give too much away but Liam and Izzie aren’t your typical neighbors! I envisioned actor Evan Peters, from American Horror Story, as Liam!
BRAVO on the delivery of an excruciatingly Sick Obsession 👏 Again…CHECK YOUR TRIGGERS
“Your past does not define you. You are not alone”
I have been wanting Dex’s story since reading Sutton Asylum, and Kinsley did not disappoint. Being able to witness Dex’s growth and him finally getting the happy ending he deserved was everything!
First, let me start by saying this book is dark, if you’ve ever read anything Kinsley has written you already expect this. While Dex’s obsession may have started with Izzy, it was truly Liam who healed him. Liam’s inner demons called to Dex’s. Liam tracking down the people that wronged Dex truly gave him the closure he needed. Getting the journal entries at the end was absolutely perfect, we got to see Dex’s inner monologue and how happy he finally is.
I also highly recommend not eating while reading this book, and I’ll just leave it at that.
Another fantastic book from Kinsley that I am so grateful I got to read pre-release.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 ✅TW’s This book is very dark and taboo. Check warning before reading. Available on Kinsley Kincaid’s website. This book is not everyone. I have been waiting for Dex’s book since I read Sutton Asylum. I am so happy to finally have it. Our beautiful broken boy. He intrigued me so much. We saw a little of his back story in Sutton Asylum but we get the whole story in this book. This book was so f-ing good. I love dark, twisted, and taboo books and this is one. Liam was a fun character. I love watching him help Dex. Even though Dex fell first for Izzy, Liam also made an impact. Izzy was also amazing. I loved her sunshine personality. Liam is the dark and twisted one. I also loved seeing what Jasper and Iris was up to after the last book. Arc exchanged for a honest review. -MMF -revenge -enemies 2 lovers -obsession -taboo -family relations -st@lking
This was fucking impressive! After reading the 1st book (Suttons Asylum), which was quite disappointing. i had my fingers crossed that this would be alot better and it did not disappoint!! im so glad i gave the 2nd book a chance. The plot in this was insane and also wholesome all at once. Its gory, its disturbing, its twisted and its filthy! The vengeance in this is fucking savage. The MM is hot asf. The self discovery of his kinks and the constant reassurance grom other MCs that everything was ok was very sweet. There is also alot of extreme taboo! There is also alot of cannibalism in this one, which made a very different twist and had me quite gripped. This was very well written compared to the first, it flowed alot nicer. definitely one of my top taboo, erotic horror reads this year. Definitely one for the book trophy shelf!
"Your past does not define you. You are not alone.”
I loved loved loved getting Dex’s book holy moly. My sweet baby Dex, I absolutely loved you and my heart shattered for you. We’re introduced to siblings, Liam and Izzie, who are also a little bit cray cray - but damn I loved their dynamic. The development between the three characters was everything - I really enjoyed how the author wrote their connections and how they understood each other. I 100% need more of these characters because I do no not want to fully let them go - praying for another book 👀.
"The truth is better than lies, even if the truth is fucking horrific."
🖤 MMF with tab0o romance 🔪 found family 🖤 cann!balism 🔪 t0rture & g0re 🖤 traumatic pasts 🔪 mental health
This was everything and more than what I wanted and needed. Dexy baby is our beautiful, broken boy. He is the type of character that you want to hold and tell him everything will be okay. There were tears while reading this. You found out a little bit of Dexy's backstory in Sutton Asylum, but you find out everything in this book, and it broke me!
This book picks up were we left of in Sutton Asylum so I don't want to go into detail as I don't want to spoil it for anyone but if you read Sutton Asylum and loved it then you need to read this ASAP!! We also got some new characters, and they were perfectly written! The only time I was really grossed out was in the eyeball scene - IYKYK. Within saying that, this book is not for the faint of heart. As beautiful and broken as it is, it is also very gory. You need a strong stomach to read this.
I loved this book and the development Dex went through! How he found closure and support in such an unexpected way without his Mama and the bond he had with his extended family 🥹
This one is definitely darker than Sutton Asylum (imo) and I still want to know what Liam did with the item he pocketed…no spoilers here 😉 you’ll have to read it to find out what item I mean.
Please, please make sure to read Sutton Asylum before Sick Obsession and ALWAYS check the trigger warnings.

The writing was very easy to follow, descriptive, and kept me entertained from the LITERAL beginning!!! There were moments my jaw was on the floor. If you need a book that feels like watching a horror movie with spice…this is it!! But seriously this was so GOOD!!
nunca li uma coisa tão aterrorizante. it’s so bad, i want to give you a zero. but that’s not possible, so i give you a ONE. esse dex é um coitado, essa izzie é uma louca e esse liam é um doente.
sem palavras. quando comecei a ler esperava um dark como todos os outros, mediano e bem meia boca, com falta de desenvolvimento e suco de wattpad com aquelas frases bestas. mas isso? se superou (pra pior) 🫶🏻
As weirdly as it sounds for a dark taboo sort of romance, I really like this one.
Maybe it’s because Dex is a fascinating character. The way he learns how to trust. But still it’s a f*ck story with consenting incest. So if it’s make you uncomfortable, don’t.

LOVE LOVE LOVE I was so excited to get Dex’s story. I absolutely devoured this book, it had me all up in my emotions for Dex and the love he found after all the tr@um@ he endured.
This is a d@rk t@boo romance and I absolutely love and will read anything by Kinsley she always draws me into the story and I’m always sad when it ends.
