A hero from the future must save Magnus and his family in the past.
From the cliffs of Stirling Castle in 1300, to the cellars of Balloch castle in the year 1683, from the family chapel of 1710, to a lonely dining room in the 24th century, and finally on foot through the woods of Colonial Virginia in 1775, the next episode has the family spread across time, stuck, unable to travel, and as Magnus has “When ye put it like that, in the light of the day, we appear tae be on our back foot.”
And now there is a villain far worse than they knew, and he's winning.

I love wonderfully crafted time travel and Kaitlyn and the highlander definitely meets this criteria. This family is spread throughout time because the vessels are no longer working. Their enemy has found a way to keep them apart. I have to say I love the characterization of Lady Mayreid throughout the series. Magnus mother, regardless of whatever she says and does, will benefit from the end results. So sit back and enjoy the various factions within Caitlyn and Magnus's world. I give this a 5 because this is written extremely well. Ms. Knightley knows how to keep the interest of each character as she builds her story line.
Diana Knightley takes us once more on a rollercoaster ride through time! Her new book The Empire and the Wolf King is an exhilarating adventure that will keep you hooked until the end. It is also a beautiful story of love, family values and courage. Loved it!
Diana Knightley is a gifted author whose books always contain laughter, love, excitement, and the plot twist you never saw coming. The Empire and the Wolf King is no exception. The saga of Kaitlyn and the Highlander has gone on for 21 books and it is EPIC! I highly suggest the entire series read in order. Well done Diana!
Maybe it's the end. Maybe not. But it was nicely wrapped up at the end so that if Diana takes a break on these books we won't freak out too much...maybe. I'm glad she wrapped it up for Archie or I'd lay awake worrying about him. 😆 This book left me with some comfort that the gang is ok. I do so love this series.
This was definitely worth the wait, all the characters being rescued and returning to their homes . Lady Mairead finding a man to fill her void was really good and knowing Sean didn't die was even better . I laughed, cried and just really enjoyed reading this new story!! I recommend it to you with a 5 Stars review😍😍
I've loved these books from the very beginning . In a lot of ways I knew that things would have to end . I'm glad that Diana Knightley is such a talented writer . She made us feel her love for the characters she so lovingly cultivated over the years without just saying that they lived happily ever after . There will be more !
What can I say! This book was great. The storyline was great with plenty of content. I laughed and cried through it, and especially cried at auld Archibald. Loved how you brought everything together and everything was explained. Just loved this series. Diana Knightley just love your books
As usual Diana writes another amazing story with the best characters. I hate waiting for her next one since it only took me two days to read this one. The best series!
I have been on this journey with Magnus, Kaitlyn and their family for years now. I have loved every book. But this one, this one is my favorite. It has all the things. Laughter through tears, love, joy, new beginnings. It’s been a great ride.
Romance, Time Travel, evil villains Funny friends. If you want to laugh , cry and own a series that you will want to read over and over, this is what you are looking for.
I rate a book by how often...or if at all...I am willing to reread it. This is one of the top rereaders in my list of books to reread! Ms. Knightley has done it again....offered us a thrilling adventure into Magnus' world and the ever changing wheel of time!!!
This book was hard to follow. It seemed to go backwards. All the peril of displaced people but only an explanation on how they got there until the end. Not my favorite and I have read them all. A great series but I might be done. My humble opinion.
This was very good . The story kept me wanting to continue to read more. This whole series is very good. I recommend anyone who likes time travel stories to read this.
I feel rather sad after reading all 21 books in this series. I feel like i am leaving my family. The author is to be commended on her ability to keep all story lines on track. Well done!!
