He has had the dubious pleasure of watching every single mating unfold, but has been unable to participate.
Through this story, we learn that Kris has become a bit of an expert in self-denial.

He can either feel apart from his world, merely looking in form the outside, or by contrast he may feel at the very center of it with events revolving around him and beginning to coalesce. Kris had been at the edge looking in for his entire life, but the balance in focus was about to shift.At this point in the elaborate sexual ritual used to awaken the dragons, each of the explorers who entered the temple have mated with their respective dragons with only two exceptions - Corey (who will be shacking up with the Queen in Book 6) and Kris - who has patiently guided each team member through their role in the ceremony.

If you are looking for a read that is more spice than anything else, this is the omnibus for you. It follows a group of explorers searching for the lost temple of the dragons. Each book follows the story of each explorer and the dragon they encounter. The omnibus is a fun, short read but don’t expect too much of a build up or deep dive into each character. Although I enjoyed the books, the ending was a bit flat and felt it just ended.

The much hinted at sacrifice of the catalyst [Kris]... the lifetime that has prepared him for this one moment, where he becomes the channel of Nirvana that will awaken the Queen. And a long, graphic process it is, where all the excesses come to bear their collective power toward the one who will then be responsible for waking the brood [in book #6].
It wasn't as titilating as it was exhausting. However, we learn more about the character of each Dragon of the Court, and their mates, in the process of it all.

That last scene of sharing was epic.
I had trouble keeping track of it all. But I think my favorite moment was the one where Kris encouraged Corey. And that the two of them found a surprising respect.
I do think it was strange that Kris never knew about his parents' relationship, nor that he had a sibling. And I sincerely hope that Kris gets his lady in the end. A truly fine man, that one.

We finally get Kris' story. He is the guardian that made sure all the humans showed up for the awakening. After everything that man has been through he is finally getting his due, and that means his own mate. This is the story from Kris. It was a great one from the view of a male virgin. I liked that she added his backstory at the start. I did expect him to mark someone tho going against the rules like others but sadly no.
