Christmas in the City Collection #1

The Cowboy Christmas Glow Up

Rate this book
Levi Dearborn, handsome heir to a ranching family fortune, knows exactly what's expected of him. Get married, take over the family business, and spend his days working cattle on the cold plains of Montana. It's not the life he wants, but the one he seems destined for. But when everything goes wrong one fateful Thanksgiving, he skips town to start over in New York City.

Zara Mitchell is building an empire. The makeup line she started with her best friend while they were still in college is now worth millions. But that's left her precious little time for anything else, including her long-term relationship that her fed-up boyfriend ends over the phone in the middle of her Black Friday sale. Even though she's not that broken up about losing the guy, she's stressed about attending the biggest fashion industry party in the city, one that could make or break the future of their business, and she already said she was bringing a date.

After a messy chance meeting in a coffee shop, Zara learns that Levi might just hold the key to landing the celebrity brand ambassador her business needs. Determined to close the deal, she invites Levi to the party. As they get to know each other in the run up to the event, sparks fly. But when complications and revelations start to swirl like snowflakes, will their holiday romance make it to the new year?

What advance reviews are saying...

okay the longer I've sat with this one, the more I've realized it actually kind of sucks ass. like I thought the plot was very fun and I really wanted to enjoy it, but the characters had no real personality traits except cowboy and girl boss, which gets really old really fucking fast. I get it you're from Montana, you don't have to tip an imaginary hat at your girlfriend every time you see her across a room and you don't have to constantly make comments about how your girl boss baddie girlfriend is broadening your horizons because the sushi in New York is unlike anything he's ever experienced at the sushi place in Missoula Montana. be fucking for real. I feel like this author could write some decent banter, but because there was nothing else that was significant about these characters, there were so many fucking cowboy jokes. painful.

also, can we have an ambitious girl boss baddie Queen who isn't an insensitive bitch please?? like her original boyfriend sounded like he kind of sucked, but she also definitely looked down on him for being a teacher, and yells at her new cowboy boy toy in a coffee shop when he spills a coffee on her even though he apologizes and offers to buy her a new one? chill out and learn how to be a human being. also cowboy boy toy, why the fuck would you want to date this woman? she sounded awful.

also also, the (spoiler) third act breakup was so fucking contrived. I thought it was going to be a misunderstanding trope, and once they finally talk to each other things would get resolved immediately, but then they talk to each other about their issues and come up with reasons why they were withholding information from their partner that like wasn't an issue the entire book in their internal monologues? why? oh yeah, because these characters had no personality traits and no characterization except girl boss and cowboy, so there was nothing else to push the plot forward except making up things to be upset about 80% in. fucking whatever, I feel like the ending resolved nothing, but all of the conflict in the book was kind of bullshit anyway, so hope y'all live happily ever after or whatever.

4.5⭐ | Sweet, Swoony, and Full of Holiday Cheer

Suzy Langevin’s The Cowboy Christmas Glow Up is the cozy holiday romance I didn’t know I needed. Cowboys, Christmas, and a city-meets-ranch love story? Yes, please! From the first coffee spill to the last swoony moment, I was hooked.

Levi, our cowboy MMC, is absolute perfection. He’s sweet, selfless, and quietly charming—a breath of fresh air in the billionaire cowboy trope. His journey to New York to find independence from his controlling family is both heartwarming and relatable. Then there’s Zara, a total boss as the CEO of Glow Up Cosmetics. She’s ambitious and driven, but watching her let her guard down around Levi was everything.

The chemistry between these two? Instant but not forced. Their banter is playful, their connection is genuine, and the way Levi supports Zara while still figuring out his own path was so beautifully written. And can we talk about Levi’s friendship with Jo? He’s the kind of best friend everyone deserves—unwaveringly supportive and always lifting others up.

The supporting characters added so much life to the story. From Jo, the rising musician who brings Levi to New York, to the vibrant friendships and industry chaos around Zara, the world felt dynamic and full of heart.

This book hits all the holiday romance sweet spots—festive vibes, personal growth, and just enough spice to keep things interesting (🌶🌶). The pacing is perfect for a cozy evening read, and the ending leaves you with that warm, fuzzy feeling we all crave in a holiday romance.

But Suzy, we need book two. Like, yesterday. I’m not ready to let go of these characters, and there’s so much more to explore—Jo’s story, anyone? Please tell me we’re heading back to this world soon because I’ll be first in line to preorder!

Read this if you love:
🎄 Cowboy MMCs with a heart of gold
🎄 Ambitious girl-boss FMCs
🎄 Cozy Christmas romances with a touch of spice

Do yourself a favor and grab this one for your holiday TBR—you won’t regret it!

Wow.

I am a sucker for a Christmas story and this one checks all the boxes.

Levi is heir to a very lucrative ranching business, though he isn't excited about taking over. After a disastrous Thanksgiving that leaves him single from a relationship he didn't want to be in, he finds himself in New York with his best friend, Jo.

Zara is the CEO of a multi-million dollar makeup line that she co-founded in college with her best friend, Noelle. After her boyfriend breaks up with her over the phone while back in his home town, she focuses on her work and securing the next phase of her business venture: fragrance.

When a chance encounter put Zara and Levi together, Zara uses their attraction to get closer to Jo, who is a singer/songwriter and influencer, who just happens to be obsessed with Zara's company, Glow Up.

This story is such a cute and relatable read! There was a lot of representation for the lgbtq+ community and really gave us the GIRL POWER vibes and it was done in such a tasteful and respectful way, as it should be!

We see the growing romance, the character building, the setbacks, the compromise, the love and the sprinkle of spice that isn't in your face but enough to satisfy.

Zara is a boss babe. She's tough yet warm, caring yet strong. She's the perfect mixture of sugar and spice.

Levi is a cinnamon roll. He's the sweetest thing ever and should be the GOAL standard for men to be honest.

Jo and Miguel are two of my favorite side characters, fun and witty and supportive!

My only complaint is I wish we would have more growth and page time for Noelle. She is the co-founder and Zara's best friend but she seems almost forgotten. She could have been left out and I wouldn't have really noticed.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was such a sweet and cozy holiday romance with some of my favorite things! I’m here for ALL the cowboys, and it was such a fun twist to see Levi come to the city right before the holidays. The friendships and the character personalities really made this book such an adorable read! ☕️

Levi is a billionaire cowboy in Montana who feels immense pressure from his family. He decides to head to New York with his friend Jo, and gets tangled up with Zara, CEO of Glow Up cosmetics. Zara really wants Jo to be the face of her cosmetics company so she asks Levi on a date to get close to Jo. You’ll have to read to find out what happens next! 💓

Levi was adorable. He was the best friend and I loved how he was always wanting Jo to shine. He was adorable how he was willing to be anything Zara needed. I loved how he found happiness by the end of the book! 🎅🏻

Zara was such a girl boss. She always took charge at Glow Up! I loved how she finally took some time for herself once she met Levi.

This was a cute, quick read! 🌟

🎁 Ambitious FMC
🎁 Rancher / Cowboy MMC
🎁 Light spice

I absolutely devoured and loved this ARC!

Levi (MMC) is utterly adorable, sweet and swoon worthy.
Levi is a cowboy in Montana, and is getting pressure to take over the family business.
Levi decides to head to New York with his best friend Jo, who is an up and coming musician, and he literally bumps into Zara (FMC), CEO of Glow Up cosmetics, while getting coffee, and accidentally spills coffee onto her expensive coat. Levi offers to bring her a new coffee at her office as a peace offering.
Zara finds out that Levi is best friends with Jo, who Zara is desperate to land as the face of her cosmetic brand, and decides to ask Levi to accompany her to an event.

The banter and story that follows is so well written.
The chemistry between Zara and Levi is instant, and they start spending more time together, while Levi supports Zara with her brand build, and commitments.

Loved this one - it's a cozy and cute Christmas romance, with a touch of spice.

"To all the girls who've been told they're "too much." Go find your cinnamon roll cowboy."

I love a good Christmas story for December Reads.

Than meet Zara who is the CEO of a multimillion dollar make-up line that she co-founded in college with her bestfriend, Noelle... After her boyfriend breaks up with her over the phone while back in his home town .. So she focus on her work and securing the next phase of her business venture: fragrance . There is a chance encounter that put Zara and Levi together .. They use their attraction to get closer to Jo who is a singler/songwriter aswell as an influencer that is major obsessed with Zara's company, Glow Up.

This is a cute little Christmas novella, but sometimes it was in a third person’s point of view, which I don’t really like. So that was my only point against the book.

I love the main characters of the book. Zara was a really confident person who only shows her flaws to anyone who is close to her. Levi was so encouraging of her and so supportive of her, and that’s what she really needed. Someone who supports her because she has a really big makeup company and her ex didn’t treat her well.

And the side characters I like Jo; she was so funny. I loved her. I love everything about her story also. Miguel was surprisingly one of the characters I loved most.

I like the idea of this book, and that’s why I gave this book 4 stars, and I would be really happy to read another book from this author, and I’m so sorry for this late review, but thank you for the ARC.

Look, I love me a good cowboy romance, but I was not ready for Mr. Cowboy Levi going into this book. He was perfect♡

Zara and Levi are 😍 literally goals. Literally blushing, squealing, and kicking my feet over some of the things Levi said to Zara. The banter was so good, and I wasn't expecting it to be as funny as it was. The spice was spicy, and so well-written🤌🏻

“And you’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen, including your curves.” - Levi ....I mean COME ON - how could you not adore him? We love a body positive King!

Also, loved the dynamic between Jo and Levi. So happy she was there for him, and convinced him to move to New York for a fresh start.

What an ADORABLE story! I absolutely loved this book! I fell completely in love with both of the main characters! The cowboy from Montana and the city girl from New York. Two totally different personalities that just went so well together. Then he was supportive of her life through out everything! It is so refreshing to see in a book. She was kind of the grumpy/obsessive to his Sunshine personality. I love it! Perfect 10/10!

After an engagement goes awry, Levi escapes to New York with his best friend to start over. One coffee mishap later and his life has taken a completely new direction. Zara is on the heals of a breakup, when fate brings Levi into her path…literally. Will they build on the initial spark or will secrets force them apart? This was such a fun holiday themed romance. There was not a single thing I didn’t absolutely love about it.

Quick and well written love story. The MMC is a cowboy from Montana coming to NY to find his independence from a controlling father. The FMC is the CEO of a multimillion-dollar cosmetics company. Her last love interest left her because she was too involved in her business. They meet accidently but fall instantly.

Add in a famous influencer, several funny friends and you have a great book.

The cowboy christmas glow up by Suzy Langevin is a #fivestar read! Recently released and I highly recommend. I started it with the idea of reading a little before going to sleep early and I finished the whole thing! Zara is such an awesome character, a go-getter and Levi is just adorable and sweet. There’s spice and banter and an argument but a HEA.

I loved the premise of this story, but the entire thing felt rushed and needed more description. I would've loved more on the actual events instead of briefly mentioning them and cutting to the next scene. The repeated use of the FMC's name in every other sentence instead of saying "her" or "she" was frustrating. Jo was my favorite character, very believable and real. Overall this book reads like a Christmas Hallmark movie, so if you like those you'll like this book.

Christmas in NYC, sort of the opposite of a small town Hallmark story, while still being Hallmark-y.
The main characters came together a bit quickly, where I do tend to prefer tension/time. You can tell what the issues are going to be right off the bat. Still a cute read.

I am usually more of a dark romance girlie, but sometimes I need a little light, cozy book to bring me some sunshine. And this book was just what I needed. Normally when it's about a cowboy, the girl is usually the one to show up in the small town, but this time its the other way around and it was such a nice twist. It was swoony, and heartwarming and brought the holiday cheer to life🥰 I loved how Levi supported Zara in a way that no other man ever had. It was just a breath of fresh air😊
