I received a registered post this afternoon and on opening the parcel I found this book — “The Art of Not Overthinking” by Shaurya Kapoor. This is a self-published book leveraging the Notion Press platform. I hadn’t ordered this book myself, so I was wondering who could’ve sent it to me and that too via a registered post. When I messaged Gautam (a dear friend) about this surprise parcel, he said it was him who had sent it to me.

Despite the pristine white and minimalist cover design, my first impressions about this book weren’t positive, more so because each page has only 2-15 lines written on it and the remainder of the page is left blank. Nevertheless, honouring the sentiments of my friend who sent this book to me, I decided to give this book a patient reading.

I finished reading the 78 pages in less than an hour. The book has left me awestruck. I feel guilty of (wrongly) judging it beforehand. While reading this book(let) I was reminded of the book — “How to Stop Worrying and Start Living” by Dale Carnegie. It felt as if I were reading handwritten notes from that book. Every single page of this book resonates with the happenings from your own life. At times, it stirs up your (painful) past, yet it doesn’t fail to provide solace & hope for a brighter future. The narrative feels as if you are sitting with a close friend, who’s showing you the mirror without being judgmental. This friend points out your follies yet is accepting of who you are. By the end, you feel heard and surprisingly calm. You get a feeling that someone understands you, the way you want to be understood.

I agree that the whitespace in the book could’ve been used better, and the short yet pithy messages on each page could’ve been elaborated a bit more. Nevertheless, this tiny book is the pep talk you’ll need when you’re feeling down and want someone to cheer you up! I am certain, I’ll be reading this book several times.

Last but not least, I am indebted to my friend who sent me this book as a New Year present. A short yet inspiring book to begin the New Year.

Fees like a warm hug. I wanted to highlight the lines that i liked the most in the book ended up highlighting 70 percent of the book. Finished it in a single sitting, a must read book in my opinion. Go for it ❤️

I find this book very insightful because it taught me things which are pretty rational and simple but i usually didn't think about that in such way. I think this book is good.

I wasn't a regular reader, and in fact, I never read until I came across this book. It gave me words and phrases that helped decrease my negative self-thoughts and overcome my fear of failure. In this imperfect world, things like perfection don't exist. It's normal to be imperfect, and that's okay. All you need to do is stay away from those who don't wish you well and surround yourself with people who support you through every phase of life, especially during difficult times like overthinking.
Breakups hurt the most – it's a sentence I never believed in until I experienced it. It shattered my heart. At the same time, you're unable to distinguish between loved ones and enemies; you think everyone in the universe is out to hurt you. But, my friend, that's not true – a lesson I learned from this book. 'You deserve better' means you genuinely do.

Simplify life, overthinking thrives in chaos, too many commitments too much clutter or overloaded schedule

Declutter environment and streamline daily routines

A simpler life makes it easier to cultivate peace within

Develop a growth mindset, view failures as learning opportunities, focus on small progress not how far you have to go

I can’t do this to I can’t do this yet, instead of a fixed end point leave room for growth

Watch how you talk to yourself and what you’re telling yourself daily


Emotional detachment is learning to be okay with many outcomes and not putting so much weight

Emotional boundaries, not letting others affect yours especially whilst trying to be a support
Boundaries create space to care without losing yourself in the process

What would a friend say when you are beating yourself up over a mistake, offer yourself the same understanding
Imperfection is a part of being human not failure or that you aren’t good enough

Give acceptance to life and its uncertainties, find gratitude in each situation

Finding a sense of purpose helps with overthinking, it doesn’t have to be grand it just has to help ground you and give you something to strive for (identify mine as developing my personal growth currently) purposes are malleable and changeable as you change

Why Do We Overthink Even When We Know We Shouldn’t?

Zakir Khan, the beloved stand-up comedian, once joked, “Agar overthinking ka medal hota, humare desh ki betiyaan saare medal le aati.” While it got a good laugh, it also made me pause and wonder—why do we overthink?

What is this constant need to dissect every thought, overanalyze every situation, and jump to the worst possible conclusion? Why do we spiral into endless “what-ifs” even when we know, deep down, that it does no good?

After years of overthinking and reading The Art of Not Overthinking by Shaurya Kapoor, I’ve come to realize something important—overthinkers aren’t obsessed with negativity; they are simply scared, sensitive, and deeply emotional. Their minds are wired to seek reassurance, yet they struggle to silence the inner chaos. Staying positive, thinking clearly, and maintaining emotional strength takes immense effort for them.

This book is a gentle yet powerful reminder to be kind to yourself. It reassures overthinkers that they deserve love, peace, happiness, and healing, rather than guilt for the way their mind works. Kapoor delves deep into the psychology of overthinking, beautifully illustrating the internal conflicts, self-doubt, and emotional vulnerability that overthinkers face daily. More importantly, the book provides a comforting sense of understanding, assurance, and practical ways to break free from the cycle of overanalysis.

I have to say, it was a disappointing experience.

The book has only one main idea, which is repeated over and over: **remove negative people from your life.** It honestly feels like this book was written for a friend who just went through a bad breakup, because the central theme is that *you deserve to be loved again,* and you need to move past your trauma and anxiety to find happiness.

While the intention to motivate is good, the advice here is extremely simplistic. Suggestions like *do the things you love—read books, travel, watch movies* fail to recognise that when you are truly in the grip of anxiety, none of these activities bring any comfort. Even your favourite hobby feels empty.

The entire book basically says: *If you’re overthinking, just stop overthinking.* That’s like telling someone who wants to walk: *Just walk.* Or someone who wants to study: *Just study.* There is no exploration of the psychological causes of overthinking, no practical methods to work through it, and no meaningful discussion of why it happens in the first place.

To me, this doesn’t qualify as a real self-improvement book. It reads like a superficial motivational pamphlet rather than something thoughtfully researched or genuinely helpful. In fact, the writing is so repetitive and shallow that it feels as if it was generated by an AI. The author stretches the content to 78 pages, but many pages have only one or two lines, and if all the text were combined properly, the book would barely fill 25–30 pages.

Overall, I don’t recommend this book. It’s not informative, it’s not practical, and it doesn’t respect the complexity of anxiety or overthinking.

Have you been through the boggy mess of overthinking? But what exactly is overthinking and what's the paralysis of analysis? Author Gupverthinking is the excessive and repetitive dwelling on thoughts, often leading to indecision and Inaction. The author writes: 'It complicates everything and simplifies nothing.'

The book is divided into four chapters: You deserve love, You deserve happiness, you deserve peace and you deserve healing. He goes on defining as well as describing the solutions to overcome the darkness in your life. It makes for a good reading material if you wish to go to the very depths of the problem that plagues you.
He writes- 'People can choose not to believe in your dreams. They can choose to push you down and hurt you, and that's not a problem. People are seldom okay with seeing other people grow. The problem begins when you start subscribing to their ideas and thoughts.'

Kapoor's book is armed with a number of tips and techniques to stop the excessive thoughts that invade one's head. He advocates mindfulness and advises readers to practice meditation. His book promises that if you believe in yourself, you can build your dream life.

My favourite lines from the book are- 'Things aren't as bad as they seem, and even if they are, remember that you're a good person, and beautiful things are always on their way to you, even if you can't see them coming yet.'

There are a number of methods here that you may read and give them a try.

The Art of Not Overthinking is one of those books that feels like a friend talking you down from a spiral—calm, caring, and understanding. It doesn’t promise to “fix” your mind overnight, but it does offer practical and relatable tools to help quiet the noise in your head.

As someone who tends to overanalyze almost everything—conversations, decisions, the future—this book came at the right time. It helped me become more aware of my thought patterns and showed me small but effective ways to break the cycle.

💡 What I liked:
Simple and relatable language: The writing is easy to follow and feels very personal. It’s not filled with jargon—just honest insights and examples that make sense.

Practical tools: From journaling and mental decluttering to setting mental boundaries, the book shares strategies that are easy to try and actually work.

Reassuring tone: You won’t feel judged for overthinking. The author writes with empathy, like they get it—because they’ve been there.

😐 What I didn’t love:
Repetitive at times: A few ideas are repeated in different ways, which made parts of the book feel a bit stretched.

Could go deeper: If you’re looking for scientific explanations or advanced cognitive strategies, this book stays more on the surface level.

🌱 Best Takeaway:
“You are not your thoughts. You are the observer of your thoughts.”

That simple truth hit me hard. It’s a reminder that thoughts come and go—we don’t have to follow every single one of them down a rabbit hole.

Overthinking could be life taking , disastrous and hilarious sometimes or the other. This book by shaurya kapur is a dedication towards humans for human support through words of healing, love, and Peace.
Each page tells you something you know but are unable to realise while you are Lost in heavily showers of raging thoughts. Believe me this book is like a Cozy comfort when you seek blessing and power to understand yourself the way you are, why you are.
If he as a author can believe into what you deserve as a human being, I Must say we can as a living being and we need to take responsibility of this lesson to adapt i.e, the Art of not overthinking.
Divided into 4 parts with a few beautiful handpicked, heartful notes as prose will make you Love yourself a little more than anyone does to you for you.
4 parts namely, YOU DESERVE LOVE, YOU DESERVE HAPPINESS, YOU DESERVE PEACE, YOU DESERVE HEALING. 78 PAGES in this book and you are motivated towards not overthinking but thinking in a right way regarding yourself.
I am glad to have read this book and I am recommending it to everybody who is trapped in this cage of overthinking, do check out this book, it is a comfort and a way to lead you to positivity.

If you value yourself only when you are shining, you don't value yourself at all you only value the achievements.
Friendship doesn't give someone free pass to mistreat you be it publicly or privately" .... And these simple tips for living happily goes on.

This book came to me at the right time when I am facing various issues, troubles and was struggling to find peace in life. It reminds me all things that I forgot in busy life and with neat and clean writing it reminds me all the best ways to keep my sanity and let me go back to my peaceful mind.

I like how clear and concise this book, absolutely on point. It makes you feel touched and heard with helpful words it touched the pain and takes you straight to the healing process that can be taken right now.

Highly recommended this book to take with you always and everywhere. It will remind you how to take care of your heart and mental health.

Judging from the title and minimalist cover, I was expecting something like a long, detailed pep talk kind of non-fiction book. But I was surprised to see the interior content, as it was not so stuffed, making it breathable for me. Because, to be honest, I get scared of thick, stuffed nonfiction.


The words in the book directly spoke to me and all those others who identify themselves as overthinkers, overlovers, or overinvested in people or who overfeel. They are not just words or phrases; they are something that my soul needed to hear for a long time, and this book didn't just say those phrases but also made me believe in them (and that is the hardest part for me; I still have not fully accepted that, but I've seen a lot of progress in my thought process).

The book is written in a warm, comforting, and mild tone that helps readers to connect with it more. It's a short book of less than 100 pages, but those 78 pages teach you a lot, especially about having faith in yourself, choosing yourself, and self-acceptance.

Overall, I'd definitely recommend this to the one who feels lost, confused, and misunderstood, or if you'd like to read something short and deep read.

Four sections make up the book: You Deserve Love, Happiness, Peace, and Healing. The very essence of this book revolves around good things; no matter how messily life is going, you still deserve them. It gives a lot of little lessons that help build on trusting yourself and downplaying the overthinking.

Reading this felt like a first-the-heart-to-heart with a friend who gets it. I loved the simple but relatable words by Shaurya. He talks to you at eye level, never looking down at you or making you feel broken. Rather, he gently puts a finger on that strength. Some lines really hit home for me, especially when asserting that you should not subscribe to anyone else's negativity. To be honest, it's one of those books you'd want to highlight and go back to when your mind is too noisy.

If you too are trapped in your head, then grab a copy of this book. It is a short and cozy read full of hope. Highly recommend!

As someone who overthinks almost everything — just like most people — this book feels like a quiet, grounding presence I can return to anytime. What makes it truly special is how effortlessly relatable & calming it is. You don’t have to read it cover to cover in one go; the chapters are short, simple, & to the point, making it incredibly easy to pick up even on your busiest days.

What I love most is that you can open to any random page, & somehow, it will give you exactly what you need to hear in that moment. It’s like having a wise friend who gently reminds you to breathe, to let go, & to come back to yourself. Each reminder in this book is powerful yet so soothing. Whether you’re spiraling in your thoughts or just need a mindful pause in your day, this book is always there for you.

One of the best therapeutic book. A therapy that we don't know we needed. It would feeling like the book is talking to us and showering us with care, yes ther care we shower to others. It teaches us to love us even more deeply, truely, and mainly will teach you how to respect urself. How to prioritize urself and how to maintain a health boundaries with others.

Mainly it changed my perspective of everything i saw, of the best book 📖 ✨️ i read.

I'm sure if u read the book in a correct mindset, you would embrace silence around you, and you would definitely start liking your solo time alot 🤞.

Even though it is of 72 pages it would do something to you and change u in that 72pages of time.

Best recommendation we might feel we r okay and happy, but its just that u haven't discovered your scared area but it do need a healing, need not to be in a human form sometimes things we search can even reach us in book format. and don't forgot to mark your fav lines and read them when u r low. It srsly heals u, trust me

This tiny book is something we all need in today's stressful lifestyle. I adore this simple & sober book cover. The title was justified throughout the book.

Overthinking is now a part of our life, because of modernity, increase in modernity or our lifestyle. Social media is also impacting our lives.

~ While reading this book I felt myself in direct conversation with the author. The writing style was so simple and impactful. This was an easy and a quick read but if you add these points to your life, there will be a cheerful future.

~ This was a good read but the font size really disappointed me. It was written on half page and half was blank. Things mentioned in this book were practical and faced by us all in our daily life. Do try to make these minor changes and change your mindset, Stop overthinking, these were the gist of the book.

I'm someone who sometimes think about old conversations, overthinks many things and doubt small decisions, this book felt like the comforting support I didn’t even realize I needed.

It doesn’t feel like someone is giving a lecture or using difficult words. It's written in a simple, honest and relatable way. Almost like a friend who’s been through it too and just gets it.

What I loved most is that it doesn’t try to force quick fixes. Instead, it gently helps you untangle your thoughts and reminds you to trust yourself a little more. It’s short, yes but packed with quiet truths and comforting reminders. You’ll probably find yourself nodding along, maybe even highlighting entire pages (I did).

If your mind is always running, this book might just be the thing that helps you slow down and breathe.

Have you ever read something and felt like every single word was written just for you?
I'm usually terrible at expressing my emotions or even understanding why I feel the way I do. But this book? It held up a mirror and made me realize that what I’m feeling isn’t wrong — I’ve just been ignoring it or living in denial. And that shouldn't be the case.
As I turned the pages, I felt seen — truly heard for the first time. It reassured me that my feelings are valid, that it's okay to want what I want, and that I’m not wrong for where I stand emotionally.
There’s so much I want to say about how this book made me feel, but words somehow fall short. All I can say is: read it. At least once. Let it speak to the parts of you that you might be ignoring too.
