I read this after I read the "28-Day Polyvagal Theory Workbook," which helped me get into this one easily since I was already familiar with a lot of the topics.

What I love is that Talia has written this book in a way that keeps you engaged, with everything being explained in the most simple yet interesting way. It made me keep turning the pages and didn't make me feel too overwhelmed with the usage of too much jargon but kept the curiosity going of understanding the functioning of my own body. The author has added real-life scenarios and situations that helped me relate and understand better.

While going through this book, I did come across scenarios that were close to some of my own personal experiences, which made me reflect on them with a new perspective, and the explanation and resolution that followed were easy and achievable.

As someone who has also read '28-Day Polyvagal Theory Workbook' and has been implementing the exercises and suggestions, I have to say, these exercises are simple to get started with, and there are no hard rules about how to go about them. Yes, there's a guide, but at the same time, each person is free to implement these exercises to best fit their routine and pace. Understanding more about the vagus nerve and how to activate it helps with finding a good balance for both physical and mental health. I've always felt like getting to meditation is too complex; this book has helped me realize how simple and easy it can be, and it leaves you feeling light and happy.

I also learned how certain foods can be vital to boost the vagal tone, and it's everything that you would find in your home on a daily basis. But becoming aware of them has made me ensure that I'm including them in my diet. Taking these tiny steps to better my overall health has had a positive impact on me wanting to take better care of myself.

Having the knowledge of what your body is reacting to, finding your triggers, and becoming aware of the changes helps you in feeling better equipped to handle your stress or anxiety. This has been true for me, as now I take a moment to check in with myself when I feel overwhelmed or stressed, which has made a huge difference.

Keeping a journal hasn't felt like a tedious task. It helps to put down your thoughts, which helps you process and reflect on them better. Being able to track your progress or figuring out your roadblocks becomes easier when you have a reference to all things you.

Thank you to Talia Cantarel and Rosali Publishing for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a manual, whether you know what the Vagus Nerve is or not you will by the time you finish this!

It’s a serious read because of the very technical nature of the text in the 1st couple of chapters but Talia Cantarel explains everything in such detail and easy to understand way that you just feel smarter for having read this and gotten it!
I had never really paid much attention to my Vagus Nerve though I was acutely aware that my gut was intensely concerned with all the stress, insomnia, anxiety etx I’ve been through. After this I feel like I know exactly what’s happening and have the tools to give my body the nurture it deserves. This is a more holistic approach to how to manage your body.

It is also a manual in a form of a guide, a meticulously designed series of exercises with great instructions and explanations that you can try to implement into your daily practices. The idea is to make yourself feel better, more grounded and in control when you start to loose all of it. You know where the issue comes from, and you can give yourself some added exercises to help balance your body & soul out.

Obviously this does not exclude going to your doctors and having treatments if that’s what you need, I know personally I could use more of what Talia is selling 🙃
More mindfulness, meditation, yoga and new habits that can only add to my routine.

Use this as a workout book, come back to it as a ritual every few months, do the 28 day challenge - I know I will definitely try to incorporate at least a few of the suggestions I’ve read into my daily life.

Thank you Talia for educating me and putting words on certain ailments that come & go and giving us a place we can go to find answers

For those in their adulting era, mom era, high stress job era … really anyone with any kind of stress, anxiety, depression, poor concentration and digestive issues… this book is a must read to help manage you stress.

Learn a holistic approach to managing stress through your vagus nerve. Learn and understand what chronic stress can do to your body over a long period of time. Find out how to recognize your body’s symptoms and how to better manage your responses. By managing your stress through the activation of your vagus nerve, you can avoid long term illnesses from chronic stress. And it’s super simple.

There is vast knowledge in this book about how the vagus nerve reacts to stress, anxiety, depression, and all the negative feelings. This book will teach you how to activate the vagus nerve which in turn will start to work with you to reduce these feelings with quick and efficient exercises like breath work, humming, stretching and more. Even nutrition can have an effect of the vagus nerve.

You don’t have to jump in with both feet and start all the exercises, tips, and tricks today. It’s actually recommended that you start with one method at a time to slowly integrate the vagal activity as a daily habit for overall wellbeing. The book also helps you make that schedule to ease you into the practice over 28 days. You will start small and work your way towards more advance practices— if you want to. There is also help to motivate, integrate, and sustain the practice for long term benefits.

As a mom of 3 young kids under 4 years old. I am chronically stressed and I didn’t realize it until I was having extreme symptoms and was diagnosed with chronic depression and anxiety with panic attacks. I’ve been working with therapy to better manage my stress and I’ve noticed we have been working on many of the mindfulness exercises that are listed in this book. I just realized as I read this book why these exercises have been helping me. As I use these breathing techniques and mindfulness I’ve been activating my vagus nerve! The longer I’ve been doing these exercises the more vagal tone I’ve developed which is helping all my symptoms I use to get with chronic stress. I’ve “known” about a lot of these exercises, but I never understood the anatomy and physiology behind it. I loved reading and understanding how this all works on a deeper level. I also have learned that there are more ways to help manage my symptoms through the vagus nerve and I will be utilizing more of these exercises in the future.

an easy to follow guide to improve your mental health

Firstly thank you to Rosalie Publishing to the advanced copy of this book. As someone who is keen to try and reset and recover my mental health I was keen to delve into the area of the Vagus Nerve. I knew a little amount the Vagus Nerve and its effects on our physical and mental health prior to the book. However, this book allowed me to delve much deeper and get a more thorough understanding.

I particularly liked the real life examples and case studies given which made the information feel more accessible and relatable. However, my favourite section was the step by step plan to reset. Literally broken down into 28 days, with a morning and evening routine made this easy to follow and I am already feeling a benefit having got 8 days in.

The singing, humming and breath work definitely tap into the Vagus nerve as you can feel your whole body starting to relax and decompress.

A great guide that anyone can understand, that doesn’t bombard you with unnecessary science and jargon

Thank you

This is a quick, simple and easy to read introduction to the vagus nerve. It is a good entry point for people who are new to this concept and want implementable strategies without too much theory.

However, I had a couple of issues with this book. As someone with existing knowledge of the Vagus Nerve who uses this in psychological practice, it missed important aspects of Polyvagal Theory such as Dorsal Vagal or ‘shutdown’. Additionally, I found the referencing to be odd. I understand that this is a text for laypeople, however, you still need to back what you say up with evidence and this was done very intermittently or only including perhaps one reference to cover a number of topics. We also have no information on the author and a Google search didn’t help me out. Most of the content checks out as generally accurate, but I think having an author bio helps lend credibility to the content. The flow of the book was also questionable; some sections were repeated and the 28-day section did not seem very helpful at all. There is also no evidence or reasoning provided to explain why 28 days is the magic number. It is probably just to encourage people to maintain consistency for an achievable amount of time. The “real person anecdotes” were also odd, possibly because we don’t know where these people have come from because we don’t know anything about the author.

I recognise that I have shared lots of criticisms here but it you are looking for an easy entrance to the vagus nerve I would recommend - it’s quick and not overwhelming!

Actual review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

This book offers a practical and accessible approach to improving health through vagus nerve exercises. The book provides a clear, step-by-step guide to help readers reset and strengthen their vagus nerve over the course of 28 days. As someone who values simplicity and clarity in health guides, I found several aspects of the book enjoyable, though it wasn’t without its drawbacks.

One of the standout features of this book is its structure. Each chapter offers a mix of beginner and advanced techniques, with simple, easy-to-follow instructions. The day-by-day breakdown up to the 28th day is especially helpful for readers who prefer clear guidance without having to overthink what to do next. I appreciated that the author included practical exercises that could be done without requiring a lot of time or a perfect environment—perfect for those of us with busy schedules. Additionally, the inclusion of illustrations helped break up the text, making the book more engaging.

While the exercises were straightforward, the testimonials sprinkled throughout the book seemed a bit over-the-top. Whether real or hypothetical, they often felt exaggerated, suggesting that significant transformations could happen quickly, even from basic exercises. At times, it came across as more of a marketing strategy than a genuine reflection of typical results.

The book strikes a good balance between explaining the science behind vagus nerve stimulation and offering practical exercises. However, for readers who aren’t as interested in the scientific details, Chapter 8 provides a streamlined 28-day plan that’s easy to follow without the need for much background knowledge. This makes it accessible to both beginners and those already familiar with the concepts.

Overall, 28-Day Vagus Nerve Reset is an informative and user-friendly resource for anyone looking to explore vagus nerve exercises. While it could benefit from reducing some of the repetition and avoiding the overly dramatic testimonials, it offers a solid foundation for understanding and practicing vagus nerve reset techniques.

The 28-Day Vagus Nerve Reset by Talia Cantatel is an Own Voices self-improvement book that offers a diverse range of holistic strategies, exercises and calming techniques for neurodivergent readers to manage stress, mood, cognitive function and overall health, even touching on nutrition. It provides a 28-day plan with chapter references to easily integrate new skills into daily routines. I really liked that the author is neurodivergent herself.

I found this book to be helpful and easy to follow. Talia’s neuroscience perspective explains the nervous system's role in physical and emotional health which I found very interesting. The techniques aim to stimulate the vagus nerve, your longest cranial nerve that controls involuntary organ functions and emotional regulation while balancing the body’s fight-or-flight response. As someone with an autoimmune disease and chronic pain, I found it interesting that this nerve is also connected to inflammation and heart rate. One quote that resonated with me is how "understanding the vagus nerve is like discovering a secret key to your body’s wellbeing."

I was excited to learn and implement some of the nutritional strategies (e.g. hydration, whole foods, probiotics and prebiotics) and already noticed a significant improvement in mood and physical health. Healthy eating habits can positively impact cognitive function and mood, including anxiety and depression. I also found the breathing exercises very helpful in reducing stress and anxiety, especially box breathing and loving-kindness meditations (which can “reduce inflammatory biomarkers and improved brain connectivity” according to a study sited in the book).

Thank you Rosali Publishing for sending me a copy of this ARC book! I really enjoyed this one and found it very helpful and informative!

My favorite nonfiction reads are the ones I learn from. Though I knew about importance of Vagus Nerve this book gave me more insight about it, as well as taught me practical ways to mindfulness, breathing, humming, exercise to increase vagal tone. But most important of all it was an easy to understand, accessible material even for those not familiar with VN.

Vagus Nerve does all sorts of things on its path from the brain to the gut (and back). It’s connected to our mood regulation, cognitive fiction, learning. Learning about Transcutaneous Vagus Nerve Stimulation (TVNS) was new to me and absolutely fascinating. And finally I’m currently working my way through my own personalized 28 day reset!

What can you expect?
📚 Small changes, big impact
📚 Exercises that can be easily be incorporated into your daily routine
📚 Help with stress and anxiety
📚 Increase resilience
📚 Improve overall health & wellbeing
📚 Easy breathing techniques
📚 Nutrition & Gut-Brain Axis
📚 Cold Exposure 🥶 (I’m still working on this one 🫣)

I am a huge fan of mindfulness meditation but like most folks, life gets in the way and I forget how helpful this is. As I practiced various exercises from the book, it was also such a valuable reminder to do some of these more often!

I want to thank Rosali Publishing for my ARC and for always bringing such interesting, educational reads to my attention!

28 Day Vagus Nerve Reset by Talia Cantarel

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was an easy to follow, educational and interesting read.

“The vagus nerve is a powerful tool within your body that plays a vital role in managing stress, mood and cognitive functions”.

This book gives you a more holistic or natural approach to managing your health; whether it be mood, chronic illness, inflammation and more.

It is backed and has many citations from scientific researches, doctors and other professionals in the field. So you can follow up on what you’re reading and can even trust it because of the credible sources cited.

I am someone who suffers with multiple chronic health issues, anxiety, depression, etc. This book gave me insight on how the vagus nerve has such a powerful impact on these things and other parts of your body and overall health. I have not fully started the 28 day reset but I have incorporated many of the tips, tricks and what I learned into my daily life. Doing that, I have noticed a difference in how I feel overall. I’m going to continue incorporating these things into my daily life as well as actually doing the reset itself.

Again, this book is very educational and easy to follow. It doesn’t bog you down with science and language you won’t understand.
I recommend to everyone.

A Must-Have for Daily Wellness and Stress Relief!

I recently completed the 28 Days Vagus Nerve program and I’m honestly impressed! This book is a fantastic guide to help reduce the stress we all face on a daily basis. It offers simple, practical tools that not only ease tension but also support cognitive function and overall wellness.

What I really loved is how easy it is to follow. The author breaks down the science behind the vagus nerve in a way that makes sense, then gives you daily activities that you can actually do — no fancy equipment or complicated routines.

Inside, you'll find yoga, meditation, and even acupuncture recommendations. But if acupuncture isn’t your thing, don’t worry — there are alternative exercises you can easily do at home. The author really thought of everyone.

One of the best features for me is the full 27-day routine included. It helps build consistency until these self-care habits become automatic. I found it super motivating to wake up each day and know exactly what to do to support my body and mind.

If you're looking for a gentle, effective way to manage stress and boost your overall well-being — this book is it.

28-Day Vagus Nerve Reset by Talia Cantarel is such a practical, no-nonsense guide for improving mental and physical health through simple, daily exercises. It’s focused on calming the nervous system and boosting mood by working with the vagus nerve, which I didn’t realize has such a big role in things like managing stress, focus, and even mood swings.

What I really liked is how easy Cantarel makes everything sound. You don’t need a science degree or loads of free time—just a few minutes each day to try exercises that can fit into any routine. Plus, she backs everything up with science but keeps it simple enough that anyone can follow along. After a few days of practice, you can already feel some of the benefits, and over time, these exercises could actually help reduce stress and bring more mental clarity.

This book feels like having a friendly coach guiding you through straightforward steps. Perfect if you want to feel calmer, more focused, and emotionally balanced without the need for complex plans or jargon

This book came to me at just the right time, and I will be forever grateful.

This is an easy program to implement into your lifestyle and easy to make work for you. I did find some of the exercises difficult personally, as it’s so incredibly hard to shut my mind off from everything and focus on myself and my body, but even while I was doing it, I knew it was going to be beneficial for me.

While I was reading the introduction, I noted that you need to be intentional if you choose to implement the 28-day plan and to first read the book in its entirety, which is exactly what I did, though I did start using some of the exercises while reading, which really helped center me while going through a sudden death in my family during the holidays.

Now that I have read the book, I do plan on going back through and starting the program. I really appreciated the personal stories that are included throughout the book, as it really helped ground the information being presented and gives me so much hope for my own journey.

This was a fascinating read and I am very much looking forward to using the easy-to-follow guide for myself in helping reduce stress and improve my overall well-being.
This book offers a 28-day program with daily exercises that consist of breathing techniques, gentle movements, that are designed to calm the nervous system and boost mood.
I appreciate that the book really makes you mindful of just little things that you can do to adjust what you may or may not being doing for your well-being.
The explanations are very clear and easy to follow. They can also be easily integrated into your day, with your daily routine.
I am looking forward to trying a much more holistic approach in managing stress.
I also appreciate that you do not have to jump in full force, it is recommended that you start one method at a time. I find that this approach is much more manageable then trying to make many changes to start.

Thank you to Rosali Publishing for my electronic copy. My opinions are my own.

The vagus nerve is in charge of preserving your life. If it is overstimulated by environment and/or trauma, the rest of you suffers. Cantarel does a good job breaking down a complex, far-reaching system into understandable language tied to our everyday lives. The good news is that everything in here is based in evidence and science. The book includes background information that contextualizes the exercises (each of which should only take 5-10 minutes) that help calm the nervous system which--in turn--reduces anxiety and improves cognitive function and emotional regulation. The book can be used by itself, but it can also be used to complement other types of therapy and pharmacological treatment as well.

This book was great at explaining what the vagus nerve is and how being aware and stimulating it can help with mood disorders, the gut axis, brain functions, overall physical health, brain health, and more. I love a book that gives a really clear guide on how to achieve the goal. This book first gives very clear techniques and ideas based in research and then lays out a 28-day reset of the vagus nerve. Many of the techniques, such as meditations, deep breathing, and body awareness, I am familiar with. But there were others that were new to me and it was fascinating to learn how these affect the nervous system and how this can help our mind and body. As someone who struggles with anxiety, this is something that I am very interested in!

This book was really great! I never knew that we could control our stress levels and anxiety by the vagus nerve! This nerve runs from our brain down to our gut. It is the longest nerve in our body.

I enjoyed learning about different techniques for managing stress and anxiety. Which are two things I really struggle with. The book was easy to understand despite it talking about neuroscience things! As a neuroscienctist, this was such a well put together book, and it catered to the reader. The information was never boring. It was really insightful.

If you want to learn how to manage your stress levels without medication, definitely check this book out! There are lots of natural ways to do this, such as breathing techniques, mindfulness, and even hugging!

This book was a quick read! It kept me wanting to read more. It’s usually kinda hard for me to read self help books or informational books but I personally suffer from sciatic nerve, lumbar back pain, and hip pain. So I figured let me read this and see if any info helps. It’s a 28 day challenge which I’m going to continue to complete. It also defines big scary vocabulary, and it just talks about things you haven’t heard before. Like I always knew yoga, journaling, and mindfulness breathing was beneficial but I never knew just HOW beneficial and why! The author does a great job explaining everything in layman’s terms and really diving deep down into issues you could be having and how to relieve them. I am grateful I read this book and will be recommending it to others.

Eye Opening

This is my first introduction to the vagus nerve and this was very eye opening for me. It covers several tactics I’ve already heard of and some I’ve not. The difference is learning why we’re doing them, how impactful they can be, and what to expect as you’re doing them. I’ll definitely be embarking on this 28 day start and hopefully the life long journey. Just practicing some of the breathing while making my way through the book proved impactful. I’m so grateful to have this book as a resource. I’m also grateful for the resource recommendations throughout. Great read!

This book is truly for everyone at any stage of their adult life. I had very minimal knowledge about the vagus nerve going into this book. I am someone who suffers from anxiety, depression, and newly diagnosed ADHD. I was looking for anything to help me with stress reduction in my life and this definitely helped.

The things I liked the most about this are that you didn't have to go "all in" on day 1. It is a gradually approach into helping you better understand your body and mind. I learned about what I can control and how to control it. This will be a long term addition to my journey of healing.

28-Day Vagus Nerve Reset is an easy to follow guide to reset the Vagus Nerve, reduce stress and improve overall health.

In the first several chapters Talia explains what the vagus nerve is and what its function is. She also explains how our food choices have a big impact on not only our gut health but also our mood and well being.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that I already implement most of the techniques Talia outlines in this book. I did, however, pick up a few new ideas to try. This was an interesting read and I’m looking forward to putting some of these new techniques to practice.

The vagus nerve is not something I've come across a lot in my studies of health and wellness. What I really enjoyed about this book was that the author explained what it is, how it works and techniques to help improve it.

All of the techniques are free and assessable and totally ok to do on your own. Which I loved.

I also appreciate that nutrition and exercise were included as part of the information because so much of our health is impacted by those.

This is a great well informed resource on lowering stress levels backed by scientific methods. This is all explained in a tangible way and I appreciated that this is a relatively short book because sometimes you are too stressed or short on time to get in the weeds with the details. The action plan at the end is definitely doable.

Thank you to Rosali publishing for the eARC! This is something I’m going to keep going back to.

It is a short but very useful book. Learning about the vagus nerve and its importance in our health is very important. Also, the exercises proposed are very useful and easy to do. I highly recommend reading the book even if you are undergoing therapy or if you are dealing with anxiety and nerve issues.

Fascinating book

What an utterly fascinating book and on a subject that I had very minimal knowledge on before now!

Learning about the vagus nerve and how it can affect everyday life and health wax really interesting, while coupled with the step-by-step guidance also within this book it's aim is to help as many people as possible.

A really well-written and easy to read book - highly recommend to all who may like to try resetting their Nagus Nerve!!
