Surviving Summer Vacation by Kathi Lipp is a book we should all have. It is a great summer resource with lots of ideas for family fun. It can also be used for summer school and vacation bible school. You will find a lot of fun ideas, activities and recipes to use. These can be adjusted to what you need. There are some great downloadables to use. They are calendars, bucket lists, chore chart, scavenger hunt and even a kids cookbook. There are some religious references within the reading but they shouldn't offend anyone. This is a fantastic book for any teacher to have, any parent to have to keep children busy during the summer or even bible school teachers to have. I gave this book 5 stars but wish I could give it more. I highly recommend this book to everyone. I look for more from Kathi Lipp.
I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I don't read a lot of nonfiction, but as a mom of 3 hyperactive and impulsive kids, this one just sounded like a must read.
My hope was that I would glean some useful tips for dealing with my rambunctious brood.
Be warned that this one is Christian-based and includes prayers and scripture verses. If this offends you, don't read this book.
I love that at the end of each chapter, there is a link to a worksheet for something discussed in that chapter. I may have to buy this one just so I can access those worksheets on my computer and print them out.
I found this book informative and full of useful tips. I just wish some of them were move detailed.
Need some ideas on a great summer? This book has some ideas from food to gardening to crafts to reading. And the author even gives moms permission to have down time. The chapters are short but full of ideas and each ends with a link to a document (like a chore chart or summer bucket list) to download if you want.
This really did help me not only enjoy, but thoroughly enjoy summer vacation with my seven year old son. Just the advice to not make it a summer of school was enough to change what it could have turned out to be for us!
I focused on making this summer about unifying us as a family, and we had the best summer we ever have!
