A world ravaged by disaster. Borders come crumbling down. There is only one law – adapt or perish.
In the near future, a young soldier and an experienced survivalist cross paths after a cataclysmic event known only as The Flood wipes away all of civilization, leaving only fragmented tribes to fend for food, land, and hope.
Ohr grew up knowing only one thing—war. A member of an elite military force formed in the post-apocalyptic aftermath of The Flood, Ohr is willing to risk everything to protect his isolated survivors colony, hidden deep in the valleys of the Carmel mountains. Everything.
Racheli is a born survivor. An expert tracker and herbologist, she forges her path through the thick Galilee Forest when all means of communication with the world are cut off. While everything around her begins to collapse, Racheli is trying to keep herself alive using every skill she can muster. But unbeknownst to her, she holds the key to Ohr's future—and humanity's salvation.
With its page-turning post-apocalyptic survival story, After The Flood's thrilling pace is bound to keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page.
"After the Flood" by Oz Guterman is a riveting post-apocalyptic tale set in a devastated Israel where survival is the sole priority. Guterman weaves a captivating story that follows the lives of two contrasting characters: Ohr, a hardened soldier, and Racheli, an expert survivalist.
The author's portrayal of a world transformed by calamity is both frightening and realistic. Guterman's Israel is an altered land, with familiar places now strange and deadly. The contrast between Ohr's militaristic history and Racheli's self-sufficient expertise generates dynamic tension, propelling the plot forward.
What distinguishes this story is its distinct setting and the author's excellent treatment of character development against the backdrop of social breakdown. The investigation into how various groups adapt to the new reality gives complexity to the story.
While the post-apocalyptic genre is well-trodden, Guterman adds new insights by focusing on a specific geographic place and its cultural background. The pace is relentless, keeping readers interested as the heroes navigate their treacherous new world.
"After the Flood" transcends a mere survival narrative; it serves as a contemplation on human resilience and the choices we confront under extreme duress. Fans of dystopian fiction will discover this a valuable addition to their library, as it offers a distinctive blend of action, strategy, and human drama set in a remarkably altered Israel. Highly recommended. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
