This is a strange book and not so much for the hauntings. It’s mainly history and descriptions of those places and there back history. Thrown in are the authors anecdotes about his recently deceased father and it’s quite apparent the writer penned this in his grief. Put all the above together and you get a rather strange concoction. I’m not sure it quite works. At times it is an interesting read though.
I opened this book hoping to hear hauntings and legends from across Britain and was mostly disappointed. instead of providing a history of the place and then ghost stories from said place, instead we got history of the place, other random bits of history, a brief mention of ghosts and a story of the author's late father. in some chapters I noticed a distinct lack of any actual description of a haunting. This book should be called the history of some 'haunted places' and tales of my dead father.
