About the author

Barbara Pinke is an award-winning children’s book author who believes every story deserves a sprinkle of adventure, a dash of heart, and maybe even a dancing fish or two.

Born and raised in Hungary, Barbara hopscotched her way across Europe—collecting memories, inspiration, and probably a few too many notebooks—before settling in Germany with her family (and her ever-growing tea stash).

By day, she works in HR (helping grown-ups), and by night, she writes books (helping little hearts grow big). She doesn’t drink coffee (though she loves the smell), but give her a cup of warm plum tea and a handful of pistachios, and she’s ready to take on any story.

Whether she’s writing about underwater adventures, superhero parents, or bugs that love to hug, Barbara’s mission is simple: to create stories that make kids smile and parents feel like rockstars.

A Joyful Rhyming Celebration of Autumn’s Magic

Barbara Pinke’s Fall is… captures everything we love about the season—crisp air, swirling leaves, cozy sweaters, and family fun—through bouncy rhymes and vibrant illustrations. Perfect for toddlers and early readers, this cheerful picture book celebrates the many sights, sounds, and feelings of autumn in a way that’s both educational and heartwarming.

Each page bursts with rhythm and color as children explore what fall “is” to them—colours of leafs, pumpkin bread, and watching the world change shades of gold and red. Pinke’s simple, engaging rhymes make it easy for young readers to follow along, while the repetition helps build vocabulary and early reading confidence.

Alvin Adhi’s illustrations add energy and warmth, filling the pages with joyful details that make every scene feel alive. From playful animals to giggling children, his art radiates the spirit of fall and invites readers to spot something new with every read.

Fall is… is more than a seasonal story—it’s a celebration of togetherness, curiosity, and the simple joys that make autumn special. Whether shared at storytime or enjoyed independently by early readers, this book is sure to become a favorite during pumpkin-spice season and beyond.

I thought that this was a fun book to read! The story was well written and it was easy to read and understand. I loved that the book rhymed in places too which was a lovely surprise. The illustrations in the book were great, they were nice, bright and colourful and they brought the story to life too. It is 5 stars from me for this one - very highly recommended - this is a lovely little series of books!
