This is a book for people who are married or people who want to be married some day. In other words, it's for everyone. It's even for people who will never marry, because hopefully all will read this and pass on this advice to those who need it. And you don't have to be Catholic to benefit. Whoever you are, you're probably a little worried about marriage. Everybody's worried these days. When some statistics show that half of all marriages break up, how could you not be worried? This book is a helpful in putting some thought into marriage. And the time to begin thinking about it is before you get married.

The rules for a happier, healthier marriage that were presented in this book make sense. It’s good to be reminded of these things occasionally and to be presented with the rationality for why they are important. Fr. Rocky gave good, simple explanations or each of the rules that he presented.

If there was insurance to keep your marriage intact 'til "death do us part," would you invest in it? It's not a 100% guarantee, but it diminishes the chances of your marriage failing from 50% to 3%. Rev. Francis Hoffman (or Father Rocky, as Relevant Radios refer to him) lays out the 12 Rules to Live By that will produce a healthy and happy marriage. The good news is that they are simple enough, the bad news is that not too many people have the faith and fortitude to do all 12. Here they are: Try to marry someone from a similar background, Don't live together before you get married, Don't use artificial birth control, Go out on a weekly date, Go on a yearly vacation, Go to bed at the same time, Have a weekly "business" meeting, Never say "mine," Go to Mass together every week, Go to monthly confession, Pray together every day, Every day, so to your spouse, "I love you." For a person who's never been married, Fr. Rocky has solid marital advice if you've got what it takes to follow it!

His marriage insurance rules are so practical and simple, and grounded in both science, statistics, and most of all spirituality and theology.
