Live Well by Adriana Shuman is my favorite nonfiction read of the year. It feels like a user guide to understanding my own body and mind. What I love most is that the author doesn’t promote a one-size-fits-all approach—she recognizes that everyone’s needs are different.

As someone who likes to know the “how” and “why” behind things, I really appreciated how clearly Shuman explains complex topics. She covers everything from toxins, whole foods, and sleep to movement, inner balance, and personal transformation. The information is abundant, but she breaks it down into manageable, easy-to-digest sections.

The book also includes a Reader’s Guide and a section of recipes with glossy pages and full-color photos—nice touches that make it both practical and beautiful.

Maybe this book resonated with me because I was ready for its message. Maybe it won’t change your life the way it’s changed mine—but what if it does?

This is a very up-to-date book on how to become a healthier person. She covers everything from food, to exercise, to mental health, sleep, maintaining balance in your life. The section on toxins and how they affect our bodies, where they come from, how to get rid of them was especially good. The section on processed and ultra processes foods was excellent. It is something that has become more and more relevant as we see manufacturers take so many liberties in adding whatever it takes to make packaged food look so enticing and keep on the shelf longer. (Did you know manufacturers monitor themselves in this area??? As she warns about additives: "The longer the shelf life, the shorter your life!" Good section on your "Inner Environment"....i.e. mental health, emotions, traumas experienced, nurturing yourself. Very readable book.
