How One Weekend Can Give You Everything You've Ever Wanted

What if one weekend could give you everything you’ve ever wanted?

Have you ever asked ‘What’s next?’ From the career ladder to finding the perfect partner, from building a family to booking a holiday, good things never fully satisfy.

But one weekend can change that. Two thousand years ago something happened that can bring love, peace, significance, security, freedom, meaning and happiness into your life now, on a deeper, more permanent level than you ever imagined.

The death and resurrection of Jesus meets our deepest needs. This short book explains why and how that’s possible.

The best give away book I have ever read. EVER. It doesn’t only speak directly to the reader but really comes alongside them and guides them through how what happened at Easter can transform your life, and fulfil every longing you have in your life. Will be giving lots of these away to people!

In How One Weekend Can Give You Everything You’ve Ever Wanted, Graham Albans reflects on the question “What do you do?” and how our identities and worth are often tied to our roles. He gently reminds readers that our true value isn’t found in our accomplishments or social status, but in Christ’s sacrifice on Good Friday.

While Albans’ message of peace—both with God and within ourselves—is encouraging, the book can feel repetitive at times. A deeper dive into how to practically live out the peace and forgiveness he discusses would have added more depth. Nonetheless, it’s a thoughtful reflection on identity and significance that would be encouraging for those seeking spiritual reassurance.

Good Easter-themed gospel tract to give to friends. Albans poses the question ‘what next?’ to gently uncover our modern-day attitudes of seeking the next new thing to fill the discontentment void. He then places our focus back on Jesus’ death and resurrection. Felt the chapter on fleeting feelings of happiness vs joy in Jesus particularly good as it used Mary’s visit to the tomb as an example. “If happiness is up and down like the crashing waves, then joy [in/from Jesus] is like the depths of the ocean underneath.”
Overall an insightful and inviting introduction to Jesus bringing joy and contentment. Also helps that non-Christian friends would know of Graham from BBC radio.

As a young reader where the pressure to 'do well', 'achieve much' and 'chase the next big thing' seems to loom over, Graham contends that this constant striving for the 'something more' we're looking for can be met and fulfilled in Christ's finished work on the cross. He points the reader back to the events of the first Easter and presents how it's themes are still relevant today. Graham's words are so easy to read; he communicates in such a way that it feels like a conversation you don't (and won't) want to leave!

This is a really excellent Easter giveaway book, showing how the first Easter weekend means we can experience real love, freedom, significance, peace, meaning, joy, hope and security. Clear, easy to read, engaging, and divided into short digestible chapters. If you're reading this review before Easter, I definitely recommend getting a stack to give out!

Short little give away and invite to Easter book. Clear. Concise. Uses lots of short real life stories to make clear the benefits of Christ ‘s death, burial and resurrection. Leans more into the benefits of the gospel than the details of Easter. It’s a decent little book for its purpose.
