Being the youngest of three children, Tempest Davis didn’t always have it easy. Especially where certain family aspects were concerned, namely her mother. Day after day, Tempest swallowed her pride and tried to love her mother regardless of the venomous words that came from her mouth. Although other members of her family were always there for her, it wasn’t enough. No, she wanted her mother to love her, to accept her as she was, not for what she wanted her to be. She'd just about given up hope, well until she laid eyes on Cooper Blake, and their attraction was immediate.Despite the doubts running amuck through Cooper’s head, fate continued to thrust them together. After witnessing a troublesome scene between Tempest’s parents and siblings, Cooper felt he couldn't be with Tempest. Not wanting to get involved in the sticky situation, he thought he could simply walk away and leave Tempest and her drama behind. Little did he know, his heart was fully invested in the doe-eyed beauty. As if out of the blue, unforeseen events begin to take place with Tempest’s family, leaving Tempest and Coop to weather the pending storm that not only threatens their new found love, but the innocent lives of the ones she holds near and dear to her heart. Will these two fated lovers conquer the unknown, or will their love be lost in a whirlwind of a dysfunctional bond? Come along for the journey, it’s going to be one bumpy ride!
This book was recommended to me by another reader. It is an IR story about a BW/WM. I decided to read it because I love stories about full figured women. I have never read anything by this author before.
Now this is the kind of story you are either going to love or hate!! This book is not my usual read but it was absolutely a fun read for me and I enjoyed it.
This is Tempest and Cooper’s story. In reading about Tempest and Coop you also find out about Tempest siblings and their relationships as well as her parents dysfunctional relationship. I would equate this book to a watching a good “Soap” like say Knots Landing or East Enders in the UK. The story surrounds one family and their relationships. The story is pure drama and a little ghettoized in places which I personally enjoyed this element in this story. Even Coop who is a white male has his moments. Coop loves Tempest and would do anything for her. The Villain in story is Rita who is Tempest mother. Well Rita does not act like a mother to her daughter, she enjoys tearing her down because of her weight.
This book did keep me engaged, it made me mad, sad, laugh, say you have got to be kidding me!!! It has over the top drama and included every theme under the sun. It was a roller-coaster ride in places too. There are some editing issues and the writing may not be as smooth as it could have been. All that aside it was a good read.
This book is not for everyone you will either hate it or love but I enjoyed it.
Whew! This book was a long one. It went through a lot of lives in a small period of time. Justice was emitted out. Lives were restored. Babies were made and loved renewed. I actually did enjoy this book. It was long and tedious in some places. Lots of crying. It seems as if she wrote a mini soap opera. But overall the storyline wasn't bad. I think the blurb or description needs to be changed. Because it's not just about the one couple but several others. It's stories within the story. I am willing to read something else by this author. Good job, though.
Wow, what a great story, from the beginning to the end. Tempest's mother, what a cruel woman. It is true we have some of them out in this world, evil woman. There were moment Iwant to go in and beat the crap out of her the way she was treating Tempest.
