Sinning for Santa

Rate this book
I went to church to confess my sins, but found my life in the devil's hands. His ultimatum—confess my depravities, or dig my own grave.

Devon Marx has decided to keep me as his Christmas treat, stealing me from my life and taking me to the town he calls hell. Every time I try to run he catches me, his strength far outmatching mine as he forces me to submit.

Unyielding in his pursuit to strip me bare, both of my secrets and my clothes, my inexperience fuels Devon as I become the object of his obsession, throwing me into my own carnal awakening.

My inner voice is screaming at me to keep fighting him, but it’s nowhere near as loud as the whisper of temptation pulling me closer to the man that has the power to end me with the pull of a trigger.

Fans of Sophie Lark, Sadie Kincaid, and Nicole Fox will love this brutal yet utterly spicy dark mafia Christmas romance.

One-click today to dive into a world of danger, sex, and brutal truths as alphahole Devon Marx dominates sweet Jaxcen Summers into submission.

Sarah JD, also known as Sarah Jane Duncan, is a dark romance author living in Australia with Mr Duncan who stole her off the market back in high school.
Sarah can be found in her writing room plotting out her next smut filled romance filled with angst, violence, and themes so dark you should probably question why you love it so much.

Sarah writes about strong females who have to fight against the odds to find their power, their voice, and their truth. Her heroines possess the strength that only comes from being a survivor, and through their trauma, battles and struggles, they learn to trust again, and find love.

There’s nothing easy about their stories. They are hard, gritty, and painfully heartbreaking at times. But what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger, right? And when you throw in a swoon worthy guy, or an alphahole that you just want to slap, but also fall to your knees and obey, it’s the recipe for a rollercoaster ride.

So buckle up. Read the warnings. And let yourself get lost in the dark stories Sarah creates.

I’ve read quite a few of Sarah’s books, I love her style of writing and of course her storylines. This one didn’t disappoint and it was great to see interconnected characters make an appearance too.

Our FMC Jaxcen has a past that she doesn’t want to think about, her life is far from exciting now, being the fiancée of an extremely religious man. She seeks entertainment in a s3x club, not that she’s had the courage to take part. This leads her to seek atonement at her local church confessional. Unfortunately, this leads to her meeting the devil instead, in a harrowing way.

Kidnapped by him, taken to his palace and kept in his suite there, she learns to accept what she assumed was beyond her. There are occurrences within the plot in between the sexy times and their slow burn of a D/s relationship. Devon is trying to keep her safe, in his own way, little does he realise her past will catch up to her. When Jaxcen is blackmailed into believing harm will come to her sister and she runs from the devil again, he does love a chase. This is just a snippet of what transpires within the book, I don’t want to spoil it for you 🤪

There are a lot of spicy scenes, mafia influence, some deleting, a little maiming 🤭, certain parts were emotional, personally there are also fragments the had me WTFing, and maybe a molecule of ‘don’t you dare’ 😬 All in all I thoroughly enjoyed it, it does have an HEA and a few epilogues to finalise the storyline.

Conclusion:
Not mush to say about this one except that it’s 80% smut/20% plot.
You can basically find an unlimited supply of kinks and some of the best breeding kink I’ve read.

Not much on the Christmas aspect of the story either. He only role plays as Santa and at a bare minimum. She makes him keep the Santa hat on 😂.

So rating is purely because of the 🌶️🌶️. Plot would’ve equaled an immediate dnf and 1 star, lol.

please read the trigger warnings before reading this!!!!

I just started to dip into dark romance a bit more.
And this book honestly surprised me. Yes it had a lot of smut like most dark romance do.
But it still had a nice story and a plot.

At first I didn't really like the fmc, ( a bit to whiny) but she started to grow on me in the end. I don't really know what else to say without spoiling.

i liked it so much that I ordered her other santa book right away.

Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! Devon was on another level! I loved his character so much! He was dark and devious but with protective intentions through the roof when it came to Jax and his loved ones. And Jaxcen! Gosh, I just loved her. Raised by horrible, cult-like parents, engaged in a loveless relationship, controlled by everyone that's supposed to love her and just trying to be herself and find happiness. And boy... does she ever find happiness with her man! And the Easter eggs to our beloved Marx family members! Makes me want to reread all the other stories I loved. I loved this holiday read. Definitely a must read!

Well THAT wasn’t what I was expecting at all when I saw the cover and title. I mean I knew it was a dark mafia romance, but my god (or my devil?) that was a roller coaster. A wild ride of emotions and adventure. Not a ton of Christmas spirit if that’s what you’re here for…
It was filthy and depraved, but also so raw and emotional.
Devon is a man with a big heart but is morally colourblind.
Jax is a tortured soul who was raised (or conditioned) to feel ashamed of her desires and it was just so pleasing to watch her grow a backbone and take control of her life - all while giving over the control to the devil himself.

I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

I cannot fault this book one tiny bit expect I didn’t want their story to end. I absolutely loved everything about it, Sarah JD’s writing, the characters, the plot, it was all so so good!! This booked wrapped so many of the tropes/things I enjoy reading, including a smex club!

I was hooked on both the MMC - Devon and the FMC - Jaxcen from the beginning. Their chemistry, and banter was on point. Plus all of the other characters were so lovable. There was suspense, plot twists and lots of hot hot smexy scenes that had me blushing hardcore. It was off the charts on the chilli spice rating. It was smutty filth that I throughly liked. Sarah JD can write a strong FMC who fights against their struggles and traumas and come out being a bad b*tch. Not to mention she can write a dominating, insufferable MMC who you just want to come off the pages and let them tie you up and have their way. Totally sinful. I wanted it to be me who was sinning for Santa!

Although I didn’t want Devon & Jaxcen’s story to end there is a 6 months and 4 years Epilogue.
If I could give Sinning for Santa more than 5 stars I would!

Blimey Jax (FMC) and Devon definitely took the confessional to a whole new level in this book!!
Devon is way more than the bad guy he seems to be. He's both an anti-hero and a good guy at the same time which made him so much more interesting I thought. Jax is deeply religious and that in itself made her not only slightly naive but blinkered to a lot of things that happened to her within her family but her life in general. It took an unexpected man - Devon to open her eyes with plenty of hot as hell scenarios. It was the dynamic that Jax and Devon had together that kept me gripped from start to finish of this book. Two polar opposites but Devon had a protective and possessive relationship with Jax that I loved. A great read.

Wow, wow, wow! I think I have a new addiction and his name is Devon!
I'm also continuing to fall down the rabbit hole of being in love with mafia romances and this one is another that takes the cake!

From the first page I was hooked, I really love Jaxcen, an FMC that battles her own urges and desires she finally gives in.

It's hot, it's steamy and dirty and I just want more and more of both of these characters!

It's the perfect holiday read, far from what I expected but in the best way.

Kinda what you expect from a book called 'Sinning for Santa'. Averagely written and twice as long as it should be.
He dresses up as Santa once to keep the theme- idk why I was expecting a Netflix Christmas storyline. Last 30% was an absolute struggle

This was absolute corker of a read and totally unexpected!

Like a lot of readers I am often attracted to a book, or not, by the title and cover and with this one I wasn’t put off but I expected lighthearted romance with a Xmas theme and sprinkling of spice but I was wayyyyy off!!

Yes it is romance but there is a fantastic fast and gritty storyline , loads of spice and a very likeable MMC 😜

You can absolutely read this at any point in the year (and i highly recommend doing it soon) as the Xmas content wasn’t front and centre of the story! Enjoy…. It’s an absolute banger!!

“This isn’t right Jaxcen. You’re going to die at any moment and you’re getting turned on?”
-Jaxcen

“I test the water, making sure the temperature is hot and then turning the heat up a little more, knowing chicks like it so fucking scolding that it almost peels a man’s skin off.”
-Devon

“Tonight, I want to sin for Santa.”
-Jaxcen

Let’s start with good parts. The back and forth between Jaxcen and Devon was stupid funny. Even during dirty time which was marvelous. Having Devon fall for such a shelted girl was interesting to watch unfold. Maybe it has to do with his job, but he was surprisingly soft with Jax which is a drastic contrast to how he is with work. Even with some of his men. It was sweet, though. Being a Marx family member I expected him to be more like Griffin, whom we met in “Subbing for Santa." Griffin doesn't give of protector vibes like Devon does. Stalker vibes? Absolutely. What it ultimately boils down to is Devon is higher on the list than Griffin. Griffin keeps getting bumped down as well. Do better dude. Still not over your shenanigans.

What irked me was the church Jaxcen’s family was so involved in. Will it be stopped? Who is ending that temple of doom from hurting anyone else? Yes, we know Devon made sure no one can be harmed by the men at the hospital Jax, and her mother apparently, was sent to. Will it be enough so no one can be hurt again by these fake profits? Hopefully it will be.

Back to the story, it was long. Almost too long. At least 100 pages too long. Where it felt like it should haven ended, we were still in the throws of Christmas celebrations. Then Devon goes and does something stupid leaving me checking how many pages are left before someone knocks some sense into him. Besides the part with Eddie, the rest was unnecessary filler for me.

This was completely unhinged in the best possible way—and I mean that as praise. I went in expecting standard dark romance, but the intensity of this story hit harder than I anticipated. The church confession scene alone set the tone: guilt, desire, danger, and that slow, creeping feeling that something irreversible is about to happen.

Devon isn’t written as a “redeemable bad boy.” He is obsessive, commanding, possessive, and terrifying at times—and that’s precisely what makes the dynamic work. The author didn’t try to soften him. Instead, they leaned into the twisted pull between power and vulnerability, and it made the tension electric. His interest isn’t romantic in the fluffy way—it’s hunger. And watching that hunger crash into her innocence was addictive.

The heroine’s awakening is handled so well. Her resistance, fear, curiosity, and craving all collide in ways that feel honest for someone who has never truly been allowed to want anything. I found myself holding my breath more than once—half hoping she escapes and half hoping she falls deeper.

The pacing, the atmosphere, the claustrophobic “you’re mine and we both know it” tone—it all just clicks. And I love when a book isn’t afraid to stay dark without apologizing for it.

If you enjoy:

▪️Captor/captive

▪️Religious guilt + temptation

▪️Obsessive anti-heroes

▪️Slow corruption

▪️Heat that borders on ruin

Then yes. This one is deliciously depraved and absolutely worth the read.

I devoured it.

This is an intoxicating blend of dark mafia romance and suspense, plunging you into a world where danger and desire collide. The story revolves around Devon, a ruthless mafia leader known as "the Devil," who has a surprising soft spot for rescuing women and children from the clutches of violence. His encounter with Jaxcen in a church sets off a whirlwind of tension and chemistry, as enemies close in and threaten their fragile sanctuary.

Jaxcen, engaged and burdened by past trauma, holds tightly to her own secrets that add layers to her character. As her connection with Devon intensifies, their days together are nothing short of spicy and action-packed, filled with electrifying moments that blur the lines between love and peril. But as the stakes rise, readers are left pondering whether their passionate romance can withstand the looming threat of their treacherous circumstances.

With an engaging plot that expertly weaves together themes of love, violence, and redemption, she delivers a compelling narrative rife with trigger warnings for violence and emotional turmoil. The pacing keeps you on the edge of your seat, with plenty of spice to satisfy your cravings for a fierce romance.

All in all, *Sinning for Santa* is a thrilling read that leaves you questioning the boundaries of love and loyalty. It’s a perfect choice for fans of dark romance who appreciate a story steeped in passion and unpredictability. Absolutely loved this!

Sinning for Santa was an absolute masterpiece of a dark Christmas mafia romance. This book quite literally had me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading it. I couldn’t get enough of Devon and Jaxcen’s story. I immediately fell in love with Jaxcen and felt terrible for the way her own parents treated her. I do love that Jaxcen has a wonderful relationship with her sister, Presley. Now Devon, took sometime for me to actually like him but I eventually fell in love with him as the man who stole Jaxcen’s heart. I absolutely love the fact that Devon and Jaxcen’s story ends with a happily ever after. Sinning for Santa is the first book that I have read by Author Sarah JD and she did NOT disappoint me in anyway whatsoever with this remarkable holiday mafia romance. In my honest opinion, Author Sarah JD is a remarkable storyteller and an incredible writer who puts everything into the book she is writing for her readers. I would certainly give this book as a recommendation for anyone who is looking for a smoldering hot holiday mafia romance book to read. Sinning for Santa is quite suspenseful, entertaining, enjoyable to read, and a definite page turner. I’m looking forward to reading more amazing romances from this author in the near future.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Omg… why was this sooo hottt

I’m now obsessed with this book… Devon Marx is everything you want in a fictional character

A Dark Mafia Christmas Romance that had me wanting more and I didn’t want this story to end…
I love the things Devon says he’s sooo incredibly hot, powerful and is a devil you’d want to sin for
He’s not like the usual Mafia man, he has big heart underneath all the power he excludes. I love it soo much. Something I want expecting at all .
Sorry no spoilers cos I hate that. This is a read you will want to add to your tbr.

Jaxcen.. aww she had me feeling all the feelings for her
Never being allowed to be her true self or even feel the way she feels without judgement everything she feels she believes is a sin… judgement and being conditioned by everyone she practically knows
I Iove the way you see her character grow and become more than she thought she could be.

Walking into to church to seek resolution she meets the devil…her devil who calls her love and shows her exactly what and who she can be.
In the hottest way. I mean 🥵🥵🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

I want more from this story I wasn’t ready for it to end
So good. So, so good

Not even words to describe this book.
Such a great read
Now onto the next Sarah JD book because Devon the devil man had me hooked

As my introduction to Sarah J.D., Sinning for Santa is everything I want in a dark mafia Christmas romance, although it has more mafia than Christmas themes. It also has lots of angst, danger, drama, humor, steam, suspense, and violence, not to mention difficult and serious themes concerning various forms of abuse, which were all well written.

This story features dynamic, interesting, and relatable characters, including FMC Jaxcen and MMC Devon, whose immediate incendiary chemistry and evolving genuine feelings for each other under less-than-ideal circumstances make it a fun and tantalizing read. I loved "watching" Jax become stronger without losing her compassion or sense of humor and Dev become softer without losing his edge or willingness to do whatever it takes to protect the innocents in his life, not to mention his loved ones. While the entertaining plot isn't relatable per se, it seems believable and realistic, and it kept me invested in the overall outcome of the book, as well as that of its MCs, who deserved their beautiful and heartwarming HEA.

I'm excited to read Subbing for Santa next, and I will definitely read more of Sarah's dark romance books in the future.

Oh Wow!
This book was incredible! It was super spicy but also had a great story line! For real, it was the perfect mix of spice and plot for my liking!

These Marx men are something else! I love how Devon, aka The Devil, is this super tough bad boy, but the way he cares for his people (his men, his townspeople, and especially Jaxcen) shows that deep down he has a heart of gold.

And Jaxcen; at first she comes across as this sweet, innocent, naive girl, but it turns out she has some pretty dark secrets she’s hiding. I mean, she’s still rather innocent, but dang, she’s been through some tough stuff. I loved seeing her really come out of her shell with a little help from Devon, and by the end of the book she was like a whole new and improved version of herself! I loved her smart mouth and sass the whole way through though, and I’m so glad she never lost that part of herself!

I really don’t have the right words to describe how truly spectacular this book was, but you’re intrigued by the blurb and are ok with all the trigger warnings then 100% you should give this book a go!
I really hope we’re lucky enough to see more of these characters in future books! 🤞

i adore this book as it was amazing seeing interconnected characters that made an appearance

FMC Jaxcen, she has an past that she doesnt even want to think about as her life is far from exciting now... she is a fiancee to an extremely religious man ..

She wants entertainment so she seeks it in an sex club that she had not had any courage to take an part in ... later on she seeks atonement at her local church confessional but unfortunately that leads her to meet the devil instead in a very harrowing way ...

she was later kidnapped by him and taken to his palace that he kept in his suite .. She eventually learrn to accept that what she assumed was just beyond her .

there are alot of occurances that happen with the plot in between sexy time and the slow burn of D/s relationship..

MMC Devon is trying to keep her safe in his own way but he doesnt realise that her past will eventually catch up with her .... Jaxcen is blackmailed into believing that her little sister willl be harm so she runs from the devil.

he loves to play the chase game... i dont want to spoil too much of the book for you

★”I’d come to church seeking absolution, but instead I found the devil.”★

I love my stories to be dark, thrilling, and spicy - and this book served it all up in a very timely holiday setting. Devon and Jaxcen meet in the local church, where her late-evening earnest confession soon becomes part of a very dicey situation for all present as bullets start flying during an unexpected shootout. Devon and his men grab Jaxcen and run for safety when he realizes that her life is now in jeopardy and that there is a new and definite threat to him as head of the Marx Mafia. Trying to lay low while determining the party responsible slowly reveals Jaxcen’s childhood, with details becoming very dark and continuing to muddy her present, raising many red flags. Nothing Devon cannot handle, however, thankfully, as there is so much more to him than meets the eye. Note: Please mind the trigger warnings on the author’s website, found here: https://sarahjdauthor.com/content-war...

Following this story (great epilogues), I immediately purchased Subbing for Santa (his cousin’s story) and have Insatiable Kitten amongst a couple other stories from this author to delve into this holiday 💖

A good ending for Devon and Jaxcen

This is my first time reading this author and this book popped up in my feed as a dark mafia holiday story. I liked the way Christmas was untwined in the romance. Mind your triggers because there is a lot that happens to the main and sub characters like abuse in childhood and adulthood, drugs, violence, etc. I did enjoy the story and overarching plot with mystery and romance. I liked how Devon, the lead male character, pushed Jaxcen, the lead female character, in a positive direction even though Jaxcen was drowning in forced guilt by her parents and fiancé. It was difficult to accept that treatment from Jaxcen’s side parents. There are scenes where the main characters describe the abuse that they lived through, which is necessary to the story, but again mind the trigger warnings. Sometimes the lead characters did grind on miscommunication issues longer than needed but overall the book is a good read with several epilogues of happiness for Devon and Jaxcen. Read On!

I am swooning for Devon Marx he is in a league of his own dark and delicious right from the start. Jaxcen is in the wrong place at the wrong time when her world is spun upside down. Jax is a character you can all feel for raised by cult like religious parents and being convinced she should marry a man she doesn't love who just wants to control and belittle her. Made to think things she wants are a sin. Devon wants what he sees in Jax and decides she's his. This book is a roller coaster ride with an exceptional story line and wow it is hot and steamy. It is a dark and twisted mafia romance with a MMC that will protect and give the world to his woman. I loved the chemistry between Jax and Devon it was top notch and the way Jax grew into the strong woman she was supposed to be was emotional and beautiful to read. I could not put this down it will captivate and pull you into the story from the first chapter. I was given this book as an ARC for my honest review.

This book was absolutely amazing! My jaw is dropped. It had not only great spice but a amazing plot! Reading it, it didn't feel as long as it actually was.

I love how Devon "the devil" Marx is a exactly that, the devil, to all, including Jaxcen, but the way he actually cares for all that surrounds him shows the truth behind the mans walls that he's built. The way he speaks about her is just beautiful and completely heartwarming.

Jaxcen starts off as this sweet innocent girl that's trapped with no way out. All she can do is hide her deepest desires. The girl has been through so much and only wants to be worshipped, and rightfully so.

I loved their dynamic together, and the bond she builds throughout the story, especially with Finn.
There isn't enough words to describe how amazing this book was. I 1000% recommend this book if you have read the blurb and think it may be your cup of tea.

Thank you to the author for an ARC, I will forever be grateful!

Spicy, Well-Written, and Unforgettable – A Total Banger!

From the very first pages, this book had me hooked. The writing is absolutely stunning, drawing you in with every word, and the storyline kept me turning pages well into the night. The relationship development between the characters is beautifully crafted – it’s not just about the heat, but how their connection deepens and evolves. I love how the book embraces and celebrates a woman’s healthy appetite for sex, without shame or judgment. It’s refreshing to see a female character who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to go after it. The chemistry between the characters is electric, and their journey together is a rollercoaster of emotions. This book is an amazing read!—if you’re into a spicy, engaging read that respects both the characters and their desires, this is definitely one you don’t want to miss!

Wow, what a hot, spicy tale this is! Devon is the big man in "business" as he likes to put it, he's depraved, kinky and the king of his town. Jaxcen is sweet and innocent...or is she? She at least comes across that way. A chance meeting in a church brings them together, and what unfolds after this is a tale of crime and debauchery as they get to know each other whilst fighting their enemies. I loved how they fought their attraction, how their relationship built up so quickly in such a short time. I loved how this book sucked you in hook, line and sinker and made you feel like you were a part of the world of Devon Marx and his minions. It was devastating reading some of the things that had happened when Jaxcen was younger and it gave you all the feels. I was so happy to see their HEA, and now I'm curious to see who is getting theirs next! Another fabulous read!

Heed the trigger warnings!

WOW! This book was incredible! It was super spicy but also had a great plot!!

These Marx men are something else! I love how Devon, aka The Devil, is this super tough bad boy, but the way he cares for his people shows that deep down he has a heart of gold and who doesnt love complexity in a MC! And Jaxcen; at first she comes across as this sweet & innocent but also naive girl, but it turns out she has some pretty dark secrets she’s hiding. I loved her smart mouth and sass the whole book though, as a smart ass myself it was enjoyable! I’m so glad she never lost that part of herself, as it would have been easy as hell to do!

On that note! If you want a stellar read, phenomenal plot & lots of spicy spice as well as a christmas read, then add this book to your TBR!

*Sinning for Santa* is a thrilling dark mafia romance that combines danger, desire, and suspense in a way you won't be able to put down. Devon Marx, a ruthless mafia leader known as "the Devil," has a surprising soft spot for rescuing those in need. When he meets Jaxcen in a church, their immediate chemistry sparks a dangerous romance amidst looming threats.

Jaxcen, burdened by past trauma and secrets, begins to shed her fears as her connection with Devon deepens, taking them on a passionate, action-packed journey. Devon is the perfect antihero—powerful, deadly, yet with a heart that beats for Jaxcen. Their chemistry is *scorching* hot, and the story is packed with spice, suspense, and emotion.

If you love dark romance with heat, heart, and a touch of danger, this one is a must-read. I couldn’t get enough!
