Eliza Mills has gone through a lot in the past few years. Her boyfriend dumping her? Check. Her best friend ghosting her? Check. Getting sick and eventually diagnosed with celiac disease? Check. Despite everything her hopeless romantic heart stays firmly intact. Eliza is excited for her fresh start as she transfers into Watertown University her junior year with a space of her own. There’s only one problem - a roommate she never expected.
Garrett Moore is determined to never fall in love. After a rocky upbringing he believes it’s the safest path for him in life and so far, so good. As his senior year starts he finds himself in a surprising living situation and despite his new roommate being incredibly gorgeous, kind and somewhat sassy, the NHL bound hockey star refuses to let that phase him. His plan is going well until one day he sees her looking uncomfortable on campus and he ends up claiming her as his own.
The two decide to form a mutually beneficial, fake, relationship but what happens when the line between what’s fake and what’s real gets blurred?

I’ve adored this book! Eliza and Garret are so stinking cute, ugh! I love how Garret takes care of Eli since the first day, he is s a cutie and the perfect match. Special mention to the tangled moment, crying.
I absolutely love Eliza, at the beginning I thought she was really cheerful and sunshine, but knowing her past with her ex, how her disease affected her body image and self-esteem. I saw myself in her insecurities.
The development of their relationship is adorable, and their best friends (Mia and Bryan) are so good to them.
Worth the chance, it’s an adorable, cute book and a must-read.
This was such a cute book! I was absolutely swooned by how the mmc genuinely paid attention to the details of the fmc’s autoimmune disease. It was heartwarming to see his care and awareness, and I loved that the author handled this representation thoughtfully.

4.5 stars rounded up Worth the Chance by Clara Mott ARC REVIEW RELEASE DATE- 11/8
TROPES- Brother's best friend Fake dating Hockey romance Forced proximity He gives up gluten for her Auto immune disease rep Nicknames 🤭😍
"She brought light to my darkness. She is the greatest chance I'll ever take."
✨️From the very beginning, I could tell I was going to love this book! Clara wrote such relatable characters and issues. I was sucked in. This book flowed so well, and I couldn't put it down. I was able to read it in one day! I love that Garrett and Eliza brought out the best in each other. I loved all of the friendships and side characters in this book as well. I'm a sucker for a fake dating trope, and this book nailed it without being too over the top about it. I truly can't wait to read more of Clara's books because this book was so good!! If you are a fan of any of the tropes listed above and/or are looking for a book that will have you giggling and kicking your feet throughout, I definitely recommend you give this book a read when it's out!
Thank you for allowing me to read and review! *edit is mine pics are not!
My actual nightmare restaurant rotation includes every character in this book, and that’s coming from someone who also has Celiac. Also, having a good (or any???) editor should be the bare minimum to publishing a book.
I'm such a sucker for hockey romance. This was a sweet story about forced roommates. I really enjoyed how celiac disease was handled and how the MMC reacted to her needs. There were a few moments where character names got confusing for me. The story dragged slightly but then took off in a mad rush at the end. However I really enjoyed the characters and felt what they felt. I enjoyed the representation of working on yourself and how therapy was viewed.
This was a quick, easy read with some difficult conversations and moments but so full of love, family and friendship.
the way i was SUCKEDDDDD into this book almost immediately 👏🏼
Clara wrote characters that were soooo relatable and enjoyable! Her writing is so bingable and enjoyable! i loved all our main characters and side characters and will absolutely be back tracking to her other book!
El & Gar are the sweeetest! They both struggle with their own personal battles but when they came together it was the sweetest thing. Plus i will always love a fake dating book 👏🏼
The Celiacs Disease representation was done so well. I adore books that have characters that have some extra special to them because as someone who battles daily i relate to these characters so much!
🌟 Tropes 🌟 Brothers best friend Forced Proximity Fake Dating Hockey Romance Autoimmune Representation Nicknames 🧁 He gives up GLUTEN for her ….. swoon
& i mean i adored that he got into Love Island for her (as a love island lover) i adored this little tidbit.
I will absolutely recommend this to my peers and will be reading anything Clara puts out! She has easily won me over with this one! 👏🏼
Oh my goodness where do I even start? This book was beautiful 😍 from start to finish I was highlighting so many lines, especially the adorable things that came out of our MMC, Garrett’s mouth. I don’t think words can describe how giddy this book made me feel. I was giggling and kicking my feet the entire way. Worth the chance is my favourite kind of romance book where the plot is mostly upbeat and happy but then you have a devastating heart wrenching plot twist that makes you love the characters more and more. I found both Garrett and Eliza (Eli) to be such relatable characters that I could see myself in and resonate with their thoughts and feelings. One of my favourite aspects of this book was just how considerate and accommodating Garrett was by educating himself and accommodating Eli with her celiac disease. He sacrificed a lot in his life to show how much he cares about her without making it a big deal and proving how easy it is to love her (because YES!! Eli is adorable. She deserves all the love) I loved getting to witness Eli experiencing girlhood for the first time and realising her true self-worth within these friendships and relationships. I really did love everything about this book but the last thing I’ll mention is that I LOVED the way that they could be independent themselves and prioritise their own lives while still loving and caring for each other. I believe that is so important in all relationships whether that’s romantic or platonic, when building a strong connection that will last a lifetime. I could seriously get about this book for ever and ever so when November 8th comes around I hope you all give this one a go so we can be discuss together xxxxx
THANK YOU SO SO MUCH to Clara for trusting me with your beautiful book 💕 you should be so proud of yourself, you best believe I’ll be reading your first book very soon 🫶
“I had no idea he picked up on these little things about me” - Eli 🥹
“She bought light to my darkness. She is the greatest chance I’ll ever take” - Garrett ❤️🩹

What is the recipe that Clara puts into these books?!! It is the perfect amount of everything 👌🏼🩷🧁🏒
Thank you so much, Clara for sending this ARC to me and letting me experience your sweet books and share them with everyone I know! You are going places with your writing and I am thankful to share your books with others!!
In this second book of the series, Eliza and Garrett are both forced to be roommates with lots of forced proximity and tons of sweet treats and even sweeter moments. A couple of years ago, Eliza was diagnosed with celiac disease. Now as she is in college, she is working through how it will affect her life while she still wants to live it and experience all the things this new chapter has for her. She has a desire to open her own bakery one day filled with only gluten free offerings. Which wow just let’s say how amazing that is🥹 Garrett, is a close friend of Eliza’s brother Ryan. He is in his senior year and going to the NHL when he graduates college. Through some family trauma he has experienced, he does not feel like he can love or be in a relationship. Until he meets Eliza and all his walls start coming down and he wants to get better for her🥹
first off, it would probably be a 4.5 (just a tad lower the the first) only cause there is a third act breakup which is something I loved that the first book did not have. But I’m rounding up for a 5 overall rating because:
1. The way this book and autoimmune disease is represented. There is nothing like it!! 2. Garrett!!!! The way THIS MAN learns to love and heal throughout the whole but really shows love the entire book is just incredible 🥹 3. Can we just talk about the best combination of shows in a book? New Girl + Love Island + a little British baking show with her baking? Just the best taste 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 4. Again, I can’t even tell you how sweet these books she writes are. Just absolutely incredible and will make you so happy and comforted!! 5. This one may have been sweeter than the first tho?! Maybe equally the same. How many treats she made me want to bake all the things 😂 6. Honestly, loved the extra spice in this one too! It was the perfect amount!!!
Can’t wait to see how Eliza and both characters are represented in the next book! I would recommend reading the first book “Worth the Risk” on KU now. This one will be available for purchase and on KU November 8th!!! Highly recommend her books to anyone looking for an easy, comforting, sweet read!!! 🧁💗💗💗

This is the first book I read by this author and won’t be the last It’s college sport romance, always a favorite, and with that “something else” I really enjoy finding in new books. In this book we have Eliza, a college student with some insecurities based on her the anxiety and the changes her body suffers as the result of her celiac disease diagnosis three years ago. She passed through some hard times during those years, so she decides to transfer to a new college where her brothers assisted. There, she has to share the house she lives with Garret, his brothers’ friend, a hockey player with zero interest in love an relationship, until….well, until Eliza. At first, I thought this book was about Eliza’s struggles, how she is finding her way and her voice again after hard times and some setbacks. But, as I got into the story, the author plays her cards and I found myself navigating in Garret’s struggles, feeling and his past, what makes him be the way he is (of course he’s a cinnamon roll with a heart of gold, but he must discover it by himself, with some help from a cupcake gluten-free maker 😉I found very interesting how both stories intertwined so naturally. Clara Mott is a very skilled writer. Tropes you can find in this book (some may spoil some parts of the book): - College sport romance - Roommates - “Forbidden romance” (she’s his friend’s little sister) - Chronic disease representation - Neglected childhood - Familiar mourning - Fake dating - Force proximity This book is an open-door book with low spicy. My ratings: 4/5⭐ 1/5🌶️ I’ve received this book as an ARC, and I’d like to thank the author, Clara Mott, and her team, for letting me read in advance this book and give my honest opinion about it. ❤️
🧁✨ auto-immune disease rep 🧁✨ brothers best friend 🧁✨ forced proximity 🧁✨ hockey romance 🧁✨ fake dating 🧁✨ happily-ever-after
“Sometimes losses earlier in your life make you cherish love even more.” 🤍
*Spoilers below — don’t read if you want a surprise!!!*
It didn’t take me long to really get into this book. I really like how relatable Eliza is by having celiac disease (I’m gluten-intolerant but celiac runs in my family), and the author does a really good job of explaining what it really feels like & the constant struggle of finding safe food (I knew those tortilla chips weren’t safe!!!). I also love the term “I’ve been glutened!” and I will 100% use this from now on when I’ve been poisoned!!
Also Garretts inner monologue makes me squeal every time! I just love how obsessed he is with Eliza even if he doesn’t know it. We all deserve a caring, protective, hockey playing boyfriend like this in our lives!
I was surprised about the plot twist in Garretts life story, and couldn’t wait to find out what had really happened—had me frantically reading at the end to make sure I found out as fast as I could.
The ending is the cutest happily-ever-after I was looking forwards to 💓💕 This is worth the read, very feel-good, cozy, cute, and a perfect read for fall/winter.
Garrett is a giant teddy bear and I just wanted to squeeze this man the whole time!! I absolutely loved him. He was a little broken inside due to his past, but he just needed someone to help him heal.
Eliza is so sassy and funny!! she’s had her struggles too, and deserved someone who cherished her — and Garrett did just that! 🥰 these two were so adorable together, I loved them! The scene where Gar goes to the restaurant and yells at them for giving Eliza gluten??? I was melting for that side of him!!
The celiac disease rep added such a realness to Eliza’s character. It really brings awareness to what people go through, it’s not a topic that is shared enough. I loved how she used baking as an outlet, I can relate to that!
I love how sweet, and wholesome Clara’s writing is! It really gives you that warm feel good feeling everytime!! I can’t wait for more 🫶🏼
🤍 Brother’s Best Friend 🧁 Roommates to Lovers 🤍 Fake Dating 🧁 Celiac Disease rep 🤍 Found Family 🧁 Hockey Romance
This is my second book of Clara Mott, the first book i read of hers was Worth the Risk and absolutely LOVED it!!
Im so honored to be sent an ARC of Worth the Chance! I had an amazing time reading this! It’s such a cozy read and i could FEEL the emotions of the characters throughout the book. I love love love Eliza’s & Garret’s connection and banter! It took me back to when I first fell in love and found my person, in a way we had a similar emotional connection with Eliza and Garrett 🥲
This book talks about finding true love, the bond between friends and family, and facing your inner demons
It was such an easy read but it definitely touched my heart! I can’t wait for Clara Mott’s next book!!
I was absolutely loving this book until chapter 18. It got super sexual and as a Christian I just didn't like that. After that I just couldn't read any further, it ruined it for me. But up until then it was so good. The author did represent Celiac very very well (coming from someone who is Celiac) and that's what makes me so sad that I can't finish it. 🧁Nickname Cupcake (so cute!) 🧁Hockey 🧁She bakes a lot and wants to open a safe bakery for Celiacs 🧁Girly girl with pink kitchen! 🧁Protective boyfriend 🧁One bed trope (hence the spice) 🧁Fake dating 🧁Curvy girl main character 🧁Cute book, I just can't finish it. Someone said it was a 1 out of 5 for spice, I would say it was much more spice then that personally.
worth the chance was one of the best romances i’ve read in awhile!! this was such an easy & sweet romance to read that also had a good amount of depth to it. i loved the way eliza and garrett did so many sweet things for each other, even before they realized they liked the other in a romantic way. i personally do not suffer from celiac disease or any autoimmune diseases, but i know this representation is so important for people who do! it definitely puts it into perspective what all they go through. i will 100% be going back to read the first book in this series as well as look forward to new books by this author!!
thank you to clara mott for letting me read an ARC of this!! happy release day!! 🥰
Okay the spice is starting to spice in this series! 🔥 I thought I liked Emi and Liam’s story, but I absolutely ADORE Eliza and Garrett’s relationship! Looking forward to the next book 🥰
I fell in love with Eliza and Garrett almost immediately! Between the soft banter and the sweet moments for just these two, its a no brainer that they were perfect for each other even from the start. Worth The Chance is a sweet romance that will keep you drawn in until the very last page. With mental health and chronic illness rep, Clara Mott perfectly encapsulates the struggles many people go through!

This is Book 2 in the Watertown University series featuring: Eliza & Garrett
Eliza is transferring to Watertown University. She wanted to live in the dorms and have the typical college experience. However, after lots of discussions, some being heated discussions, with her family they compromised and she was moving into the home her family purchased 4 years prior when her older brothers attended Watertown University. She was diagnosed with Celiac almost 3 years ago and it made sense for her to live in the house to ensure she had a safe kitchen as it was better for her health, and a dorm would not guarantee that being a shared space. On moving day her brothers, Liam and Ryan, and Emilia, Liam's gf, help her pack up and move in. Once everything is unloaded from the vehicles Ryan drops the news that Eliza won't actually be living alone in the house. He told everyone that his old teammate, Garrett, needed a place to stay that semester and he'd told him he could have a room at the house. Oh boy! Not only was there shock that Ryan just now was telling everyone this bit of information but also because Eliza thought Garrett was hot. Ryan assured Eliza that he explained her "allergy" and Garrett understood. Eliza wasn't at all thrilled but knew from what Ryan had told them that Garrett could afford living in the dorms.
Garrett was a hockey player at Watertown University. He would be starting his last semester there but when his lease was due to renew and his roommate moved out, he was left trying to find a place to live that he could afford. His former teammate Ryan offered him a room at the house his family owned. He was told he'd have a roommate who had a gluten allergy and he had already decided to just eat gluten free. On move in day he pulls up and Ryan meets him at the door to inform him he'll be roommates with Ryan's little sister Eliza. He'd be living in the same house as the most beautiful girl he'd seen. But he’s haunted by his past and certain he’s at fault for it.
After the “surprise you have a roommate this semester!” shock they both encountered, which was then followed by a misunderstanding about kitchen safety and gluten, they both seemed to be able to live together easily. Eliza met Mia, who quickly became her best friend. Garrett was attending classes, hockey practices, and games. Eliza likes to bake when she gets anxious. Since she also likes to bake there's often fresh baked treats in the house. Their easy way of living takes a bit of a turn when Garrett is headed to class and sees Eliza uncomfortably talking to someone on campus. He walks over to intervene and ends up meeting Eliza’s ex-boyfriend and his girlfriend, Eliza's ex-best friend. By the time the quick conversation ends with Eliza and Garrett walking away in a fake relationship. Things keep going nicely for both of them until the lines get blurred. It starts to feel more real than fake. That is until Garrett gets a letter in the mail bringing up his haunted past. Garrett ends up pulling away from the good and then everything between them, fake or real, abruptly ends.
Will Eliza and Garrett be able to remain friendly while living in the same house? Will Garrett overcome his past? Will Garrett and Eliza give anything a chance again? You'll have to read Worth the Chance to find out.
I was so excited for Garrett and Eliza's story after seeing a little hint in book 1 and also loving that book. I was also looking forward to seeing the Celiac rep in Eliza because I don't know much about it and it was really intriguing and good to learn more. After developing it Eliza has led a fairly sheltered life for her own safety and as much as she loves her family, she wants to try living away from home and finally study somewhere in her own space, but she ends up with a roommate! I thought the Celiac rep was handled really well throughout. I feel like I've learnt a lot about it, and it was relevant and mentioned throughout the book without being overly done and talked about in great detail all the time and overtaking the story. It was really sweet to see how Garrett was so caring and understanding about it, making sure she was always safe. Also shout out to the Halloween bit because that was just too cute!! One of my favourite bits of any romance! Garrett also had his own backstory which was a really sad one, but it was lovely to see the good memories in there too. I loved the whole story and like last time all the characters were fantastic. I especially loved their best friends! I did think the ending was maybe slightly rushed, with some bits happening in a slightly different order to how I'd have expected but it was still done really well and a perfect ending for me. I also really enjoyed the hockey, with lots of training and games happening throughout and Eliza's baking, although I'd actually have liked a little bit more about how she had to adapt the recipes to make them gluten-free. Either way I really wanted to eat everything she baked and was so sad I didn't adequately prep to read this by stocking up on at least some shop-bought baked goods! I'm really excited for the next book and for the final Mills-Saban sibling to get his happily ever after.
Eliza is a junior in college, working towards a degree in business, whose life is suddenly changed when she is diagnosed with Celiac disease. As if the complications of dealing with this disease weren’t enough, her boyfriend decides he no longer has the patience to deal with her diagnosis, and leaves.
Just when things seemed bleak, and Eliza was feeling very unloved (and unconfident), Garrett entered her life as her new roommate. As a senior who is pursuing a professional career in the NHL, he isn’t exactly the guy Eliza was planning on falling for, but soon she came to realize that he might just be more loving and tolerant than she had thought possible. Not only does Garrett decide that he is going to go gluten-free himself, but he also makes sure that everywhere Eliza goes she has a gluten-free option. This really demonstrates what a supportive and considerate partner should look like, and I appreciated how Garrett helped Eliza regain her self confidence.
Initially, Garrett isn’t even convinced that he needs love, but once the two hit it off, it quickly spirals into a fake dating romance that held my interest throughout. This book deals with some real life issues that some readers will relate to, and proves that there is no one-size-fits-all standard for love.
I ate this book up, and I really loved how supportive both these characters were for each other and their separate interests.
If you are looking for a fast-paced romance between two unlikely pair, meet Eliza and Garett. A hopeless romantic becomes unexpected roommates with a brother's best friend who doesn't believe in love. They entered into a fake dating deal, but along the way, things started turning positively. Will her insecurities and his personal trauma hinder their chance in one great love?
-------------------
This was a light read for me.
Although the story coursed through childhood trauma of family member death, broken family and health illness, the story's tone wasn't overwhelming nor emotionally heavy. The fast pacing somehow touched the topics lightly before moving forward into a more positive tone.
The characters' portrayal weren't too multi-dimensional, but not too flat. I relate with Eliza's personal imsecurities about her body, at the same time inspired by her strength to pull through her illness. The list of pastry she baked was an attraction! I got hungry everytime they mentioned food they make in the novel. Garett, on the other hand, his progress was too fast for me, especially knowing he was harboring such trauma since he was a kid. I wished it has been a bit more realistic, like a struggle or a period of therapy, but it somehow continued to them being okay again at once.
Nevertheless, I like their adorable chemistry in the novel. I like how the author showed a light romantic story between two people who decided to take a chance on what they could be together.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I was sucked in from the very beginning. There were so many moments where I found myself squealing, giggling, swooning and kicking my feet like a little girl. My Disney loving heart exploded at Disney scene. 🥹
Garrett is a cinnamon roll of a man. I am unapologetically obsessed with him. The way he treats Eliza made me fall for him instantly. He has such a huge and kind heart even though he’s had to deal with some demons in his life. He was always afraid of love because he knows first hand how bad things can get. That was until he started falling for Eliza.
Eliza battles with Celiac disease and has really struggled with her confidence because of it. Her struggles with her body image made her really relatable.
The support these two had for each other made me love them even more. Garrett even started eating gluten free for Eliza. He was so inspired by her overcoming her struggles that he wanted to battles his own demons. Eliza quickly becomes Garretts peace in a world of craziness.
Add this one to your TBR, you won’t regret it. This will definitely be a reread for me. I also need to go back and read the first book from this series.
What To Expect: Fake Dating Forced proximity Brothers Bestfriend Roommates to Lovers Celiac Disease Rep
Thank you to Clara Mott for the opportunity to read this ARC🫶🏻
🧁 Auto-immune disease rep 🧁 Grumpy/Sunshine 🧁 Roommates 🧁 Brother’s Best Friend 🧁 Fake Dating
Eliza Mills is transferring to Watertown University to continue getting her business degree. She moves into her brothers’ old house and discovers that she’s going to have an unplanned roommate. The roommate just so happens to be her brother’s drop dead gorgeous best friend.
Garrett Moore needs a place to stay for his senior year at Watertown University. His best friend offers up his family’s house but forgot to mention that his little sister would be staying there as well.
This book was a great read! It hit all the marks! The fake dating scenario seemed realistic and wasn’t super far fetched. Eliza brings out the playful side of Garrett. Garrett is Eliza’s voice and protector even when she doesn’t need it. I love hockey and fake dating so this book was a real treat! Eliza has celiac disease and bakes gluten free desserts when she’s anxious. Watching Garrett step up and work on himself to be the best version of himself for Eliza melts my heart.
Thank you to Clara Mott for the advanced copy in exchange for my review!
Tropes: Fake dating Brother’s best friend Hockey player Forced Proximity Autoimmune disease rep Mental health rep
I was pulled in from the beginning of this book and had a hard time putting it down. I really enjoyed the writing style and felt that the characters and their issues were super relatable. I loved the relationship between Eliza and Garrett and how naturally it evolved. He swooped in when he saw she was uncomfortable and he honestly was always taking care of her. From going gluten free to make her space more safe, to calling out a restaurant manager for allowing her to get sick after being assured her food was prepared safely, to just being an overall wonderful person.
I absolutely LOVED that they brought up therapy and instead of just brushing over Garrett’s trauma, he was actively trying to work through it and his friends were supportive in that. Mia and Bryan were the most supportive best friends and I was so happy when they got together too.
I’ll start by saying I loved this book! I seriously finished it in a day.
I really liked how Eliza didn’t let her autoimmune disease keep her from making the food she loved. I feel like a lot of people who have celiac disease could relate to her and the anxiety that comes with it. She was also super sweet to Garrett and I loved how she showed up for him. Garrett was a sweetheart from day one. He did so much to take care of Eliza and to make sure she was safe. These two were so cute and there is some spice, but it’s very minimal. I also loved the side characters. Mia and Bryan were such great friends.
Although this book is super sweet, it discusses past trauma. It also shows us how dealing with grief can look differently for everyone.
I liked the pacing of this book and how it took place over several months. Nothing felt rushed or left out. Overall, this was a great book and I would definitely recommend it. This is my first book by Clara Mott, but it won’t be my last!
Thank you Clara Mott for the ARC for an honest review.
