He didn’t walk out on our wedding day, but he shattered my heart just the same. Instead of wallowing in what could’ve been, I’m taking our honeymoon solo.
That’s where I meet him—a rugged, fiercely protective mountain man with eyes that see right through me. Every stolen glance, every touch, reminds me that I deserve more than the life I almost settled for.
He’s nothing like the man I was going to marry. And that’s exactly what I need.
With every whispered word and heated kiss, he makes me feel desired in ways I’ve only ever dreamed of. He shows me that I’m worthy of being truly loved—by a man who knows exactly how to handle every inch of me.
Rugged Mountain Man is a steamy instalove romance featuring a fiercely protective mountain man and the curvy heroine who captures his heart.
Happily ever after guaranteed! ♥
Previously published as One Night with the Mountain Man. This new edition features over 5,000 words of new content.
This is supposed to be a pro curvy, which is really just a different, more socially acceptable way to say fat, romance, yet the author really said "found me lacking, or worse fat". As in that is the worst a person can be. Such a shame that this author writes so much "body positive romance, but continues to promote fatphobic mentality.
Well nothing like another book where the author calls it in, slaps a new title on it, changes a few things and adds a few words so that it can be called different. However, you should at least read through it yourself before doing that, as it's very obvious that she used a find and replace feature with the names from the prior book (One Night with the Mountain Man). Here are a few of the words that appear in this story, what they should be and where they were changed from in the prior story.
The story itself is decent and the encounter in the billiards room between James and Charlotte is erotic, but it's just a scene in their story, and doesn't provide that happily ever after story for them. You'd have to assume a lot to get them together for a lifetime, rather than for a quickie in the pool room.

I didn't have high expectations for this book. But I have to laugh at the increased absurdity of the plot. The mmc falls for the mfc at first sight, declares her to be the woman of his dreams, and does her in the billiards room all in a single day. With a very abrupt conclusion with no real wrap-up between the two characters. There was also a lot of "haven't I read this before?" Now I know these stories aren't unique, and they are not the next great American novel. But this felt very phoned in, if not oddly, similar to other stories. If that wasn't enough to give it a low rating, the multiple published typos give it an automatic one-star rating.

Charlotte found out that her fiance cheated on her just three days before the wedding. So she went on her honeymoon at a mountain lodge by herself. This where she meets James the owners son and a hot rugged mountain man. Sparks fly and they have a great day together😏 A short , steamy and sweet story without a HEA (it was just the day described and there wasn't an epilogue or something like that) kind of missed the epilogue, but still a nice story🥰🥰
The best way to get over someone is to get under someone else Charlotte finds out her fiancee was cheating on her with one of her bridesmaids 3 days before the wedding, so she cancels it and goes on the honeymoon by herself at a cabin in the mountains, where she meets the owners son, James. After one look at her, before they've said one word to each other, he's already planning their future. He claims even though he sleeps around a lot working at a picturesque lodge hotel, "he's never felt like this before". He seems like the type of man who falls in love with every woman he is attracted to, only to fall out of love the next morning. She is on the rebound after being jilted. If this was a one night stand or even a vacation romance that ended when she went home it would have worked better but it leaves the possibility of a HEA open, even if it ends very abruptly. The writing was cringey and poorly edited which only added to my disappointment.

This is a strange mountain man romance. The Pluses- the hero is a really hot ginger, the sexytime is hot, and it’s a little more realistic than the usual, which is not always a bad thing. The Minuses- everyone keeps using the word “Jamestic”, and no, I did not just make a typo. It seriously is used repeatedly, with a capital J, like the reader is supposed to know what on earth it means. I even googled it and nada. There is no happy ending; it’s vaguely a HFN. And it’s a little more realistic than usual, which is not always a good thing. Here’s the breakdown: MMC/FMC- James and Charlotte Genre- Mountain Man Romance Length- novelette Heat- they do the thing and name the parts. Series? Y. I don’t see myself wanting to read another book in this series. Safety? Y Triggers- sex without protection Tropes- Jilted Bride, Honeymoon for One, He Falls First.

Charlotte’s fiancé Liam bought them honeymoon tickets to a lodge in the Colorado Rockies. Then he ended up cheating on her 3 days before the wedding with one of her bridesmaids. Charlotte is taking the honeymoon trip anyway because Liam paid for it.
James moved to Colorado to settle down at the Wolf Center Lodge which his parents bought 10 years ago. He is there to help them run the place and will take over when they decide to retire.
I love how they connected and how their story played out in the beautiful setting.

First, the cover is lovely. A yummy model paired with a colorful background. This story is short and sweet. There are two nice characters: James and Charlotte. Charlotte is a jilted bride who ends up at mountain resort and James is the handsome helper, who works at his family's property. The chemistry is so well done between them. The reader can feel it. The romantic scene burns the page. I wish this story was longer.

I've got to say I was impressed with how Charlotte responded to what she had been through, I liked that her responses felt real and I could relate to her because of them. I enjoyed the slap to the face connection James felt and seeing him go for a chance to get to know her and the possibility of more. I just wish that there was more of their story, what happened next in each of their lives was something I wanted to know.

What a wonderful story. We are taken along in the lives of Charlotte and James. They meet when she leaves her own wedding and ends up in a mountain resort where she also meets James who works there on his family's estate. They have an insta chemistry and attraction and it only gets stronger until the sparks fly. I enjoyed their story, it could have been a bit longer but for those who want to read a short but good story with enough steam, this is definitely recommended!

Rugged Mountain Mane is the first book in the new Curvy Girls in the Mountains series. I really love Kelsie Calloway's books and am so happy that there is a new series to dive into. This first book was a great start as it is a captivating, fun and lively story about a jilted bride on her solo honeymoon and a mountain man she meets at the lodge she is staying at. Let's just say that he melts more than her heart. I loved this book and can't wait to read the next and then the rest of this series of curvy girls and the mountain men that fall for them.
Kelsie Calloway kicks off her brand new Curvy Girls in the Mountains series with Rugged Mountain Man, a sweet and swoony instalove romance. Jilted bride-to-be Charlotte retreats to the Colorado mountains to spend her honeymoon alone and regroup. James' has aspirations to take over his parents' luxury Colorado mountain lodge when his dream girl appears. Charlotte is only supposed to be there for a few days - will James be able to convince her to stay, maybe for forever?

Some find and replace action changing names went awry which made me wonder if this book was another book repackaged (Pretty sure Liam was originally Andy) or if the author changed the names at some point writing it. I usually don't like to call out authors about grammatical/formatting errors but it's an easy fix for future readers if the author sees this. Writing style wasn't for me.
It ended so abruptly that I don't know what happens and that irritates me. This is definitely not an HEA because you don't know what happens between the two. Ugh now I gotta go find another book that has an HEA. I don't even know if I'm going to read anymore from her if this is how they all end.
the bond between the characters is not deep and rushed. They met and he wants to spend his life with her? Imo it does not make sense. They are also typing errors and I noticed it and my first language isn‘t english. The spice is also not really good:( I really wanted to like it, but it is just not it…

The book was really good. I really liked James and Charlotte little tumble in the hay. So to speak. A mountain lodge was more like it. She is there to heal from the reminders of her life and the poor choices. Will meeting James change all that?
I do wish it wouldn't have just ended. I'd like a epilogue to figure out what happened and nog just assume.
This is a great fast paced short story and so worth a read if you don't have a lot of time. The characters are wonderful and the scenery descriptions create a breathtaking picture. I received an advanced copy via Booksprout.

The author has given us a wonderful story that pulls us into the lives of Charlotte and James. The story keeps us turning the pages with instant connection, hope for the future and steam.

Horrible editing. Character names appearing in the middle of a word but that might have been an issue w/ my Kindle. I can suspend my disbelief for short insta-love stories but I didn't feel anything between the characters and the sex scene was so obviously contrived. I stopped there.
This story is very short. I expected a rushed insta love whirlwind of a story but feel it was the first few chapters of a story nd the rest was left out. No middle or end to the story. If the rest of the story is out there, somewhere, I'd like to read it.
Simple story, written well. Liked that it addressed feelings without the overboard obsession of one day meet then same day in love and getting married. Left a little unknown in which direction story will go, so that may bother some.
okay listen. i understand where this idea is coming from. the lodge, the mountain man who literally owns the place. for a quick read it was ok. but with better writing, and a longer story it could be way better! and the two main characters are stage four love bombers.
Charlotte is going on her honeymoon…alone. The groom to be is a cheater…his loss. James runs a beautiful resort with his mother. The last thing he is expecting is a guest to steal his heart. This is a quick paced read with the perfect amount of chemistry.
It felt like foreplay for an actual book, left me wanting more of their story and not satisfied by the ending. It was cute but it is missing what could have been the rest of a great book. It was really well written but it just wasn’t enough.
So freaking sweet and steamy. Couldn't put it down. This book was amazing! Really enjoyed it from start to finish. Can’t wait to read more from this series. Happy reading
This was a super quick read for me. The characters were good. I felt that I was dropped in at the middle of the story. I would have liked to have seen more of their story.
