In Jayna King’s debut, Troubled Son, the Savage Sons MC was devastated by the death of Moses Hall. When Luke Callaway rolls into town, everything changes.
Luke has found far more than he expected in Denver. He came looking for his birth parents, and he found the Savage Sons MC … and the sexiest woman he’s ever met. Krystal Shaw has her hands full with school, work, and her boyfriend, the VP of the Savage Sons. Things get complicated when golden boy Luke Callaway walks into her life.

Does Luke have what it takes to become a member of the Savage Sons MC?
Can he help the MC move on after Moses’ death?
Will Krystal and Luke give in to their desire?

Prodigal Son continues Jayna King’s saga of the Savage Sons MC where Troubled Son (Now for sale) left off. Look for Freedom’s Son (June 2014) to wrap up Luke and Krystal’s story. Sinner’s Son (July/August 2014) takes you back in time to explain Moses Hall’s past, and Fortunate Son (September 2014) brings the whole series to a breathtaking conclusion.

I LOVED the first book-- Troubled Son. ( SPOILER ALERTS )

I had a few issues with this one though. At times, while reading, I was like "WTH?"

In book 1-Troubled Son, the Savage Sons MC were an outlaw club- a 1% club, but when Luke is reviewing the PI report, he was relieved that the club started by his father and uncle wasn't an outlaw club.

And the way he, Mr. Straight-Laced, College Educated Good Guy, suddenly comes up with the plan for a weed enterprise for the MC along with the background that he got while in college, yeah, o k (smirking).

It just seemed a little unbelievable, at times, but then so is real life.

And how many times did people mention Moses being dead and his girlfriend killing the DEA agent in his house, but not knowing why the DEA guy was in there to begin with? Too Many. But no one seriously had a thought as to figuring out WHY? Yeah, a little unbelievable.

I didn't like this one as well as the Moses story. Looking forward to the last book when Moses comes back to Max.

I gave this one a 3.5 star rating...so disappointed because Troubled Son was so good and I was expecting this to be a continuation of that book. Instead we get a far fetched story of a young man named Luke who rolls into town looking for his birth parents who just happen to be members of the Savage Sons MC...and of course he gets involved with Krystal, the abused girlfriend of the nasty VP. He has money left to him by his adoptive parents and when he offers to help out his new found "dad" with funding and starting up a more legit way to make money for the club involving legal drugs, things go from bad to unbelievable. Luke professes to care for Krystal but at times is just as bad as the dirt-bag BF and there are some issues that are not realistic as far as the world of bikers go.
It was an okay read and moved along fairly quickly and the 99 cent price was worth it. I just would have preferred to get a continuation of the first book because it left me reeling and wanting more.

*** 3.5 *** "following in his father's footsteps" stars

I go between a 3 and 4 with this book. It's an entertaining, quick, good read. The story line is very good, but the writing just lacks in a few areas. And I usually can overlook the writing stuff, who am I to judge I'm not a writer, but the issues repeat themselves throughout the book (and I saw it in the first book as well ). One issue I have is development of the characters, it's just to quick, almost lacking in some places I think Jayna always explained what or why the character was changing but I wanted to feel it not just read it. And another part that bothers me is Luke's POV. I love alternating POV but when Luke is telling the story it doesn't read like I'm in a man's head.

As I read what I wrote I sound like I didn't like the book, which I don't want to put out there. I really like it and I'm looking forward to the next books in the series.

I'm upset about this book and my rating. I discovered this author when I read Troubled Son. I loved the book so much I had no doubts about picking this one up. This book is so very different from Troubled Son.

This story is about Luke. His adoptive parents are killed and in their will they leave the names of his birth parents. Luke travels to discover more about them. While he's scooping them out he meets Krystal, who he falls for. Krystal is attached to Bug, a member of the Savage Sons. Luke discovers his parents are members of the Savage Sons and he wants to join and help them start making money in a legit manner.

I'm gonna start with the characters. At the beginning Luke isn't too bad. He wants to find his birth parents. He comes across as an all-star varsity kind of guy when he arrives. I didn't like how he altered his character to fit in with the Savage Sons. Why does he need to change in order to be accepted?? Then there is Krystal who is beyond annoying. There are so many problems with her that I don't even know where to start.

Krystal is dating Bug, but the only reason she is with him is convenience and status. By dating him she is not "public" property to all the guys of the club. It irritates me because she is using Bug, but she has also placed herself in an abusive relationship just for status. Then when things start to get violent with Bug she turns to Luke to remove her from her situation. I can understand needing help getting out of a tough situation, but she wants Luke to take care of everything. I also find it disgusting that she sees nothing wrong with dating both Luke and Bug. Now before I get into trouble here, Luke is just as wrong for dating her when he finds out she is with someone else.

Moving on to the storyline. I feel like it was lacking. There was a lot of focus placed on Luke helping the club earn money in a legit way, I wanted more. There should have been more to the story than what was given, in my opinion. Yea, at the end there was a small twist thrown in, but I feel like Luke was too easily turned, He wants to fit in with the club and be with his family, but one person says something and he's ready to go against them?

I will have to check out the other books in this series because I wasn't impressed with this one, which is sad since the first book was really good.

I really think this writer loves to torture the reader. In book one we suffered with the loss of Moses and although I swore maybe the outcome would be different like he was in the witness protection program or something we know he was not. Now enters Luke - Moses cousin. You fall in love with his personality, mannerisms, charm and good looks.

We met Krystal in book one. She word in Moses shop and had something sweet but charismatic about her. She starts to put her life together and is slowly trying to get out from being under the Savage Son's thumb. When she meets Moses she finds an undeniable connection but also knows he is too good for her. But is he really!

The storyline was great up until the end and that's what kills me with this author. She truly has great stories but in the end you are torn whether to read the next book or not due to frustration. This book has a mild cliffhanger, unlike one where it had a finale. Now the question is do I torture myself with some more or not.

2.5-3 stars...
Business analyst, Luke Callaway, goes in search of his birth parents after his adoptive parents die in a car crash. Luke ends up the steps of Sable Hall, and the Savage Sons MC. Luke comes from a completely different world than the biker world: he's educated, has a job, and is well-mannered. Sable and Joker introduce Luke as their long-lost son, and he quickly tries to adapt to the MC lifestyle.
Prior to meeting Sable and Joker, he Meets Krystal who is bartending at the pub he visits one night. Krystal has been trying to become Bug's Old Lady, primarily because she doesn't feel like she's worth much more.
The story was a stretch to say the least. The two sides of Luke are way too different, and him becoming apart of the lifestyle, while still being true to himself, is hard to adjust to. I really liked Luke, but he was just too 'soft' for the MC. It was also hard to see him fall for Krystal.
It was an "OK" read. I'm not sure how I feel about going further in the series.

Wow!!! First review. That's my first.

We are brought back to the Son's MC. But all the MC knows is that Moses was killed by a DEA agent and that the DEA agent was killed by Moses' old lady Max. Nothing else is revealed. So, if you were expecting to read about if Moses is really dead or alive don't get your hopes up. Because we are not told. Also nothing else about Max is mentioned.
This story is all about Luke, Joker and Sable's son and Krystal. Remember Krystal, hot piece of ass like Moses use to call her. All she ever wanted was to be someones old lady. So she returs on this book still being with Bug (VP). Sick and tired of how Bug treats her.
Won't get into more detail because I'll spoil the whole story. But I'm guessing the main story for the whole series is how the FBI and DEA will finally bring down the Son's.
Can't wait for June to read more about Luke and Krystal.

As with book 1 in this series, I really liked the story - the characters were nicely developed, the story flowed - it was good. BUT, there were some really questionable parts that could / would never happen. But it's fiction, so you just go with it. I loved Luke, he was great but did a really quick turn around to being a different guy than we first met - Krystal, well, let's just say I don't get it, but again, it's a book and as with real life, characters like people don't always make the best decisions. The bringing up of Moses, but never having the backstory of why the DEA agent was there was a bid odd, but again - didn't take away from the story. Really looking forward to the next and the one after that. This seris is good, it's fast easy reading - the characters are likeable or interesting - I'm a fan, I need to see where we go from here.

I like this series, I want to continue reading this series, but.... There is just something about Luke I just can't get on board with. I had a hard time with the back and forth between him being disgusted by the MC and wanting to be as hardened as them. One minute he is complaining about Joker being so familiar with him and the next he wants to give up his life and be a Son. Krystal was a strong character and kept my interest. I can see good things in the future with the Savage Sons, I am hoping they come to fruition. I miss Moses.

Good read. I really like Luke. I do like the changes in his personality, but he did make me mad in the middle of the book when Krystal wanted him to save her. She did make her choices though and did need to deal with them on her own. I'm glad that he did end up coming around though. I'm still hoping that Moses isn't actually dead, and the DEA is just hiding him for now. Will be starting the next one asap, I have to find out what will happen to Luke! There were minor errors in the book, wrong word or extra word added in, but it wasn't distracting from the read

This is the second book in the Savage Sons MC book series by Jayna King. Again, this was another solid MC book by Jayna. The storyline was solid and had everything that a MC book should have. The characters were great and the addition of Luke to the series was perfect. The chemistry between Luke and Krystal was off the charts and the demise of Bug didn't come soon enough. Looking forward to seeing how Luke & Krystal's story ends in book 3.

This wasn't as good as the first book in this series. I found it was moving at such a slow pace and than, bam, everything happened at once. There was also a lot of spelling mistakes throughout the book. None of the character were likable, I think because none of them were believable. The only male character I actually liked was eliminated in the first book, so sad :(

I didn't like this one as much as the first. I found myself annoyed with the way Krystal and Luke acted together and seperate. I just couldn't get into this one like the first. Also I was hoping for more Max and Moses but nope. I most likely will read the next, hoping it's like the first.

Luke

This is the start of Luke's story into the MC life. Some interesting twists and turns. The epilogue really leaves a lot of open questions. The next book will hopefully lead to those answers.

Enjoyed the story but was disappointed that it wasn't a continuance of book one. I felt book one had a lot of unanswered questions.

I held off rating the first book thinking the 2nd would have a happy twist. But I was beyond irrated. I'm done with this series. I don't mind a cliff hanger type of book but this just made me mad.
