A footman turned earl's son and a lady with her nose in a book—could they possibly find love amidst the whispers of the ton?
Lady Juniper Amberton is content to live in the shadows of high society, much preferring the company of a good Gothic novel to the endless parade of suitors. Her creative spirit and quiet charm make her unusual among the ton, but Juniper knows the rules of her daughters of earls marry well, not for love. That is, until the son of an earl—once the humble servant to a duke—steps back into her life.
John "Jack" Sterling has spent years guarding nobility, never imagining he would one day become part of their ranks. Now, elevated to a new social station, Jack finds himself navigating the murky waters of London society, where his family is closely scrutinized. He never expected to cross paths with Lady Juniper as equals, but the same woman who once painted his portrait is now the one captivating his heart.
As their worlds collide once again, Jack and Juniper must walk the fine line between what society demands and what their hearts truly want. But with gossip swirling around Jack’s family and the weight of their past roles looming over them, can they find the courage to rewrite their futures together?
This novel is a sweet Regency romance that can be enjoyed as a stand-alone, but readers of the previous books will delight in seeing familiar faces and settings once more.
Sally Britton is sixth generation Texan, received her BA in English forever ago, and reads voraciously. She started her writing journey at the tender age of fourteen on an electric typewriter, and she’s never looked back.
Sally lives in Oklahoma with her husband, four children, and their overly energetic Australian Shepherds, cat, and snake named Nancy. She loves researching, hiking, and eating too much chocolate.
This was so cute!! Whenever I’ll be in the mood for low angst, sweet regency romance, Sally Britton is who I will run to. This series has been an amazing ride (book 1 is one of my ultimate favourite books!) and I can’t wait to go through her backlog as I await the spinoff series!!
What an adorable story! We first met Juniper and Jack in a previous story and I have been intrigued ever since. I really love how protective Jack is of his family and Juniper. I also love Juniper and how kind she is and willing to help Jack’s sister and family adjust to their new lives. I loved seeing characters from previous books. This does work as a stand alone but I recommend reading the previous books. Overall, I really enjoyed this story and I recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

Jack, a once footman/guard, is now thrust into a new (upper) role in society. One that is proving to be a blessing and a curse. What feels like an amazing opportunity for his family starts to turn into a set of many challenges. With rumors and hushed whispers circulating about his family, they struggle to find their footing. His days are spent worrying for his families safety and desiring to help them succeed in their new class. While everyone seems set against their family, Lady Juniper and her family seem to do the opposite. Her family is most welcoming and absorbs his family into his own, helping them find their way. But he is most grateful for lady Juniper. He had met her before his station in life had changed and even then his feelings for her were strong, but it wasn't possible for them to have a future... Now they both are of the same classes, they could stand a chance. IF she also has feelings for him. And IF the rumors around them do not force them to have to back away in an effort to protect their reputations. He had never planned a future for himself, only hoping to always help his family. But meeting Lady Juniper has him finally desiring a future... one with her by his side.
What to expect; She's a book lover He's a former guard/footman Pet names He was her muse Forbidden kisses 💋 Clean, regency romance
My rating: 4.5 stars, rounded to 5! ***I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and reflect my personal thoughts and experiences with the book.
If you want a book that just feels like a warm hug, then you need to pick up Sally Britton's books. This book is that hug in a gentle love story.
Jack is wonderful. I loved him in Lady Ivy and the Irishman, and even more so now that we get a real look at him. He is the protective alpha male, but his protectiveness here is mostly aimed at his sister who adores him.
Juniper is my kind of woman: an avid reader of Gothic fiction who also knows when to speak her mind.
I was enthralled with Juniper's family in Ivy's book, and now am equally so with Jack's. The way they were so content with their lives before the inheritance was so heartwarming to read.
Yeah, if you're looking for a gentle love story, this is what you need to pick up.

“She was everything gentle and kind, and he ached with the desire to reach out to her, to take comfort in the simple act of holding her hand.”
I loved this book! I loved Juniper and Sterling in the previous book and I couldn’t wait to read their story!!!!
I loved reading as they got to know each other better. The connection and friendship between them, the lovely forced proximity, and the banter were all soo good!! There were so many fun settings throughout London that I loved visiting with them too!
Did I mention that Juniper is a bookworm who loves to read gothic novels! She is also lovely as can be! You will love the stoic, and protective Jack! I loved getting to know him better and get a glimpse at his inner thoughts! Couldn’t get enough!
It was so fun seeing beloved characters again like Ivy and Teague! What a wonderful cast of characters! This book was entertaining and so very sweet!

What a sweet, heart warming romance that made me so happy! This series is a favorite and this book was a joy to read! I think you are going to fall in love with Jack and Juniper and their sweet story! . . . Thank you to the author for the arc copy. All opinions are my own.
I picked this book, because I had enjoyed very much a novella (An Unsuitable Suitor) from this author. In this book, I found again the sweet and shiny romance that I had loved from the other story, all written nicely and with good historical depiction. However, for me, the story's pace was much too slow. It was appreciable that the constraints and challenges faced by the H's family felt period realistic but too much time was devoted to that plotline, to the detriment of the actual romance. And while both main characters were sympathetic, the H was too rigid and by the end of the book, I was despairing why both of them never thought to brainstorm their worries with their allies. I was also disappointed that the despicable Mr W had not been called out for his big slight. I think a novella format would have been better for this story.

“Hope is never foolish, child.” “Hope is the seed from which the greatest joys and even the deepest loves grow.“
-A GENTLEMAN FOR LADY JUNIPER, is a heartwarmingly, sweet Regency romance story. It is also the sixth book in the Clairvoir castle series and though each can be read as a standalone, I would encourage you to but read in order, to know such endearing characters. I guarantee that they will bring you dear joy! This dear story in particular, feels like coming home, to a place where there are dear heroes and heroines you respect and look up to, along with some strong family relationships and loyal friends no matter. Jack and Juniper’s relationship is wonderfully weaved with such open communication, humor, and joy- in and for the little things. There is such trust, kindness, and joy that is built along the way to this couple’s full happiness! Sprinkled throughout i delightful humor, sparks of chemistry, vivid imagery, and the sweetest epilogue. Let this story wrap you up in the warmth of hope, love and belonging. It’s a story, worth the read!🙌🏻📚❤️
“Sometimes the best way to protect those you care for is simply to stand by them, openly and without hesitation.”
“You do not have to bear everything on your own. Even the strongest shoulders need a bit of help now and then. No one would expect you to face an enemy on the battlefield alone.”

What happens when your social class changes in one day? How do you handle having your whole life and your expectations uprooted and turned on their head? That was what faced the Sterling family. They were farmers with their land and did not expect more. The children, now adults, had set out on their own careers. John or Jack as his friends called him, was a bodyguard masquerading as a footman for the Duke of Montfort when the news that his father had inherited an earldom from a distant cousin he didn’t know of. Suddenly, the family had status, money, and holdings. What they didn’t have was knowledge of how to navigate society. As they set out with the support of the Duke of Montfort and the Duke’s friends, they meet friends and even a few foes but the most intriguing is Lady Juniper. Jack had seen her before and now he was of a rank to pursue her but how does he do that while he still feels unworthy? And, since he is the only one with knowledge of the ton, how can he help his family learn to move smoothly through the social settings? A very enjoyable read. I received an early copy and this is my honest review.
This is the 6th book in the Castle Clairvoir series. It is a standalone story that can be enjoyed without having read the other books. But reading the others will add to the experience since some of those characters appear in this book. The 5th book, Lady Ivy and the Irishman, would definitely add much since that is where these 2 main characters first meet.
I just love this whole series by Sally Britton. She's created a world of love and loyalty for friends and family of the Duke of Montfort. The sweet stories are just the escape I need when real life's challenges weigh me down.
In the past I've said that I'd like to read stories about servants and upper classes. Not that I want inappropriate behavior, but sometimes a mistaken identity happens or other extenuating events occur. Such is the case here. And I loved it! I liked that Juniper had some fire to her and wasn't afraid to scorch what was in her pathway. And Sterling, that protective hero, always so concerned about those he loves.
I wish to thank the author for the advanced digital copy of this book. I am happy to leave an honest review.
4.5 stars: This was such a sweet and wholesome regency! I haven't read any of the previous books in the series but I was pretty quickly able to figure out the family dynamics. I felt like it stood alone pretty well, but definitely would have been enhanced by previous reading in the series. I plan to go back and do that!
* Nov 25 Edited to add: I went back to the beginning with the Duke and Duchess and totally binge read this series up to this point! I have enjoyed it all SO MUCH! Somehow this sweet and well-written series is just what I needed!
I especially loved Jack's character as a protector, and Juniper's sweetness and strength of character. I'm so glad Jack's father's elevation to an earldom made a match possible between these two!
Thank you to the author Sally Britton @authorsallybritton for the eARC.
Another delightful addition to the Clairvoir Castle Romance series! Sally Britton never fails to craft stories that are both charming and heartwarming, and A Gentleman for Lady Juniper is no exception.
The setting, as always, is beautifully depicted—Clairvoir Castle and its surroundings are almost characters in themselves, adding richness and depth to the story. Britton’s attention to detail transports readers to a Regency-era world that feels alive and authentic.
Lady Juniper and Jack are a perfect match. Their relationship develops so naturally, starting as a genuine friendship and blossoming into something truly romantic. Their banter, shared moments, and quiet understanding make their journey as a couple both realistic and deeply satisfying.
This book is sweet, romantic, and filled with the kind of moments that leave you smiling long after the final page. Whether you’re a fan of the series or a newcomer, A Gentleman for Lady Juniper is sure to win your heart. Highly recommend for fans of clean Regency romance!
Quote: “He was not a poet, but a soldier at heart. Yet being near her, he thought of springs and sunrises.”

🤍 Regency romance 💋 Kisses only 💰 Rags to riches 👩❤️👨 Friends to lovers 🤍 Great family dynamics
Another delightful Clairvoir tale! I LOVED Juniper's spunk. As an introverted bookworm myself, I tend to adore bookish heroines, and Juniper was no exception, but what I really appreciated was the twist of her being slightly more outgoing than the average Gothic novel-loving leading lady. Not only is Juniper so quietly charming in her ability to set people at ease, but she is also resilient in not allowing herself to brood overly much at the obstacles that come up to her happily ever after.
And Jack. Dear Jack. I just genuinely wanted to see him get his HEA! He was like a perfect eldest son in how he looked out for his entire family, but he was also charmingly humble enough to ask for, value & implement Juniper's advice in how to integrate his family into high society. And his & Juniper's banter was so sweet. I adored any time they conversed together. And, as always, it was delightful to see characters from past stories in the series again.
I received an ARC of this book. This review contains my honest opinions.
I have adored Sally Britton's Clairvoir Castle series since it first came out, so it is no surprise that I would love the latest installment. But I think this might be one of my new favorites! Juniper is a book lover (relatable) and ever since getting to know her in her sister's book I have been waiting for her to get her own love story. Sterling--Jack 🥰--has been in the background as a guard but he definitely caught Juniper's eye! I love Jack's character and the way he protects all those around him. It was sweet to see Jack realize that he doesn't have to do it all alone. There were so many cute moments! Banter and bookshops 😍 I also loved the appearance of an author character from another of Sally's books. It is so refreshing to read about genuinely good people (with few exceptions) and to see kindness and love prevail over judgement and hate. These books are such a breath of fresh air. Thank you, Sally!
This romance was absolutely lovely! Britton describes it as a gentle romance, and honestly, that description is 100% spot on.
Juniper and Jack are both inherently likable people. If they were real, I would want to be friends with both. Juniper’s love for reading made her instantly relatable for all us readers (loved Erasmus and Louisa Grey’s cameo appearance! Meeting a beloved author is such a reader dream!). The way she references books in day-to-day situations just speaks to me. I also love that each balances an understanding of the caprices of society while also acknowledging the absurdities of such. They honestly just make such a cute couple!
I’ve read this series in order, but I do think it would be lovely as a stand alone as well. I just like knowing the side characters and their stories, and wondering whose story is up next, so I do tend to go for reading the series in order.
Thank you to Sally Britton for the ARC copy! All opinions are my own.
regency former guard/footman bookish FMC closed door romance
Sally does it again! I love Jack and Juniper together! Jack protects those he loves, and Juniper has an indomitable spirit about her. I love that we get to see characters from the previous books in the series! This is such a sweet and fun story.
I cannot wait to read the rest of the books in the series!

“Ought I to scowl more? Would that make up for the lack of stature?” “My Lady, that is a pout not a scowl?”
Oh! What a delightfully, sweet romance! This is my favorite book of the series! I enjoyed Sterling’s strong yet unobtrusive presence in all the previous books so I was very happy to see that he was getting his own happily ever after.
Jack has his hands full helping his family navigate their new social status. I found his constant vigilance a wonderful tribute to his previous position. His care and protectiveness of his sister, Emily, was delightful. I enjoyed seeing how the Duke of Montfort’s ‘family’ (the Conte and Lord Dunmore) were determined to help the Sterling family. My favorite part was when Jack flirted with Juniper! Juniper speaks her mind yet is gentle and kind to Jack’s family. I loved seeing her friendship with Emily and the way she stood up for the family. Jack and Juniper’s friendship blossomed to more quickly, it was incredibly sweet. Prepare yourself for their first kiss 🫠
A few more quotes: “I know that when I face a complex array of thoughts and emotions, someone barking orders at me would make matters worse not better.” “I do not bark. I need to be heard over everything else taking their attention, Lady Juniper.” “Do you? Or do you need to be the calmest voice in a sea of confusion?”
“I love you, Juniper. I have loved you for longer than I ought to have, before I had any right to. When I was curious what it would mean to love a woman like you.” “And what is it like, pray, to love a woman like me?” “Blissful.”
Note: This is the sixth book in the series. It can be enjoyed as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading the series in order to better enjoy these characters.
Sterling, Jack Sterling. The man, the guardsman, now nobleman. As Jack has appeared in many of the previous books in the series, I was thrilled that he was getting a book of his own. I adored his character, and was pleased that he paired with bookworm Juniper. Very cute.
I will admit that I was looking forward to, and expecting more action, but alas. No men of ill character got their bottoms dropped kicked by Sterling himself. Still a pretty decent romance though! I liked this one more than the last few in the series so I'm glad I stuck with it.
I love this series by Sally Britton. This latest one was a bit slow to start for me and there were a few repetitive bits, which is why I am only giving 4*. If Goodreads allowed for 4.5, I would have given that. I enjoy the characters Britton writes and hope that she will continue with a story involving Lady Emily, as she appears to have teased at the end. I recommend all of the Clairvoir Castle books as they are a wonderful escape!
I knew this book was going to be an awesome one simply because Jack, "Sterling," as we previously knew him, was in it! He truly is one of the most happily-ever-after deserving characters I ever read.
Juniper was such a relatable girl! I couldn't help but love her determination not to be one of those weak heroines. I mean, her way of thinking is nearly identical to every booklover girl's. I'm a gothic romance lover at heart, so I found myself in her more than I would have expected.
I loved having Roman and Lyness back in our attention, though I would have liked to see the dogs too;) Also, Erasmus and Louisa? Loved them here!
This was such a great addition to the series! *For my sake, I hope Sally continues this series. I'm not ready to say goodbye.
A quote I love: "As she walked back inside, the house seemed to welcome her, its walls warmed by the love that flourished within. She hoped that somewhere beyond the horizon, a new chapter in her life waited to be written." I think that expresses so well my own hopes.
*I received an electronic version of the book in exchange for a review. All thoughts expressed are my own, as a positive review was not required. Many thanks to the author for writing and giving us the chance to read her awesome book! Keep writing, Sally, because we need more romances like this in our lives! 🤍🤍🤍
This was a really sweet read! Definitely my favorite of the series. 😍 I loved focusing on Juniper's story, seeing her strength, her determination in life, it was so encouraging. 🩷 And Jack was also so inspiring, I admired his devotion to his family, always standing by their side through their changes in life. I related to Juniper a lot, always having a book with her, pulling it out of her purse at random times. 😅 This has so many funny, sweet moments, and completely clean - I highly recommend, especially if you love a romantic, quick read, set in regency time! 😍
*I received an e-ARC copy, all opinions are my own
The last book hinted at this romance and it was worth the wait. Juniper and Jack have a memorable past and a memorable future. The series is added to very well and the love stories are just right. Clean. Some really great villains. Some good friends. Family that stays. Lines that have been erased but old habits for hard.
I enjoyed this book. The romance is sweet and well developed. It's low drama and low angst. I like how both characters are strong in their own way, but find reassurance in each other. The resolution seems a little too ideal of a situation, a bit like a fairy tale ending, but didn't take away from my enjoyment.
What would it be like to suddenly learn that your father is an earl and you must help your family adjust to life in a social class none of you ever imagined joining? Jack Sterling finds himself in this very situation--and also discovers that a certain young lady of his former employer's extended family is more captivating than he had noticed before!
I love, love the Clairvoir Castle Romance series and this is a lovely addition. The characters are so engaging and the author allows the story to unfold gracefully.
"She was everything gentle and kind, and he ached with the desire to reach out to her, and take comfort in the simple act of holding her hand."
Such a sweet and gentle love story. This was the first book I've read by Sally, and I loved it. The stolen moments between Juniper and Jack were swoon-worthy and heartfelt. I love it when two characters have fallen for each other without even knowing it. Their strengths complimented each other and it was lovely to read about a feminine yet heroic female main character.
While reading this, I told my husband I could never be nobility in Regency Era London. It sounded so exhausting! I felt immersed in the Sterling family's struggle to accept their new way of life. I celebrated every small win and felt so sad when they were marginalized.

Sally Britton‘s Clairvoir Castle series is a favorite for me. Having read all but this one, I was so excited to win the audiobook in a giveaway hosted by Sally.
A Gentleman for Lady Juniper was such a sweet addition to the series. I loved seeing all the family and friends again that we have come to care for over the years. This story in particular was so endearing as Jack, who finds himself with a new and much improved station in life, helps his family adjust and navigate the new experiences and opportunities they have inherited. He is such a wonderful, stalwart man who is genuine and gentle. And Lady Juniper was a great match for him in every way.
For me the greatest surprise and most exciting thing was seeing my favorite coupe from A Haunting at Havenwood.
If you want a low angst, cozy, and tender romance Sally is your lady. I highly this series and all of her other works. Thank you @authorsallybritton for the gifted audio. It was fantastic.
