Finally got around to reading this balm of a book after getting it at Aleah’s book release party on Halloween. It is full of intimate reflections on the passage of time, the nature of a circle, the life that exists in death and the death that exists in life. I would heavily suggest reading this in a medieval tower by candlelight, if possible.

Aleah Black has been tearing my chest open and giving voice to what I find inside on Instagram, and now in a physical book in my physical hands. I am grieving, always, and filled with love, always. I think you might like this book.

“I do not need to be afraid of annihilation. I am the indomitable fool.”

“Who are you to decide who is worth sparing? What is it we are if not together? Who among us matters if not all?”

“When the peach fell to the ground to begin the slow process of decay, it was hard to remember something was being planted. You must heal the wound you did not ask for.”

“How did you become so afraid of a feast?”

“What is holy, if not our drive to free each other?”

“Do not avoid your love affair with the world for fear of losing it. How many times has the forest lost its leaves? And how many times has spring come and come and come?”

An earnest book. I am so glad Aleah wrote a book, and reading the things they've written and the way they see the world reminds me of hope and many reasons to be alive that I often take for granted or don't consciously think about regularly
