Above all protect each other's heart, and love will live.
Love. Samara London has lived her entire life seeking it. Being the daughter of a cartel king who often had little time for her, she has learned how to be self-sufficient in anything she does, including her love life. Not that she has one, anyway. An arrangement she made six years ago out of loyalty to her brother Royale has derailed her plans for love. She wants to be in control to protect her heart, but you can't control who you love.
Loyalty. Demetrius “Meechie” Augustine lives by it. He rewards loyalty with loyalty. When the most loyal thing he could do happens to also be the most disloyal, he finds himself stuck in love with his best friend's little sister and questioning his loyalty to the very cartel he runs in the name of love.
Samara wants to love but has built up so many defenses it's hard to let herself fall. Will she find that you can't guard your heart against love because the only way to truly keep it safe is to open it?

Second book by this author and I couldn’t put it down! Samaria& Meechie got that HEA, but not without so many Ls. Betrayal, grief, disappointment, and even shame engulfed them so many times. Loved conquered it all! I need Polo to get his gurl. I wonder if it’ll be Contessa. Looking forward to next release. 💛💚💜
Gotta say Meechie and Samara’s story was much more than I expected. Considering we knew the outcome of their story from book 1, I didn’t know what more there was to say. But I’m happy Meechie kept talking to her and the description of it being “anti-mafia” was true.
None of the drama was surprising, but even with the pretty obvious storyline- I still this slight twist on arranged marriage. Even with Samara being slightly annoying.
The irony is that I read the first installment in this series when it was first released and had a plan to get back into it. And then, out of the blue, I clicked on Meechie and Mara's story, and it's full speed ahead. It is a must that I finish the series. I need Contessa and Polo to find their way into each other hearts.
But first, let me step back and discuss Meechie and Mara. When I say I like a story that has some mountains and valleys in, I truly do. Meechie and Mara went through quite a few lows as a matter of fact, more lows than highs. They managed to pull through every speed bump and live their happily ever after. I love how Mara didn't want to be a Capo wife but knew how to be a Capo wife. She was the walking phrase of beauty, brains, and hood. Meechie played the head of the household role well because he made sure to protect Mara at every turn.
I am anxiously ready to read the last installment in this series. I want to catch up on the fam. Have Royale and Monroe conceived yet? Did Mara have the baby? Ms. A. Blossom is dropping these masterpieces. You all better get on board and read them.
I'm glad that the author listened to her readers and gave us Meechie's story. I really enjoyed reading Meechie and Samara's story. Meechie and Samara had a connection, chemistry and love going for them but the only thing coming between them is Meechie being the head of the cartel. The surprise of who ordered the hit was an aspect that I didn't see coming. The situation with Fabian had me crying for real. 😭 Karma came for those who were involved in the hit, and they received no sympathy from me. I'm glad everything worked out for Meechie and Samara, and they got their happily ever after. Polo had me cracking up so I hope we will see a book about him in the future. Great job by the author!!
Samara and Meechie.... What else can I say? How many ladies have their "good thang" staring them in the face but refuse to allow themselves to be happy? Past hurt from loss, parents, etc. can really screw a person's mind up especially a woman. Her daddy issues almost caused her to walk away from love. Meechie knew that Samara was his EVERYTHING so much that he grew into the man he was. Loyalty, love and protection. When I think of Meechie I can't help but scream "My man, my man, my man". Beautiful story A. Blossom but I'm going to need Polo and Contessa's story ☺️☺️☺️.
They call me Big Meech 🤭 Such a story of love, self discovery, and healing. Samara needed to heal her younger self of her daddy issue. Demetrius needed to discovery his purpose. Love was really in them and not on them. They are the couple I didn’t know I needed. Whew that plot twist was dramatic as hell. Shout out to Haiti the culture, food and country being depicted in its beauty 🇭🇹🥰❤️🫶🏾❤️. No body is gonna be more honest than a Haitian grandmother I felt that😂🤭
While it took me a while to get used to the writing tone, (not style) because it made some part sound cringe, I found the couple interesting and was able to get past it. Lmao! Demetrius is a petty mf tho, and his comebacks were hilarious. I also kind of wanted him to be more obsessed. I know Samara was a handful with her standing on business but, the man was giving up a lot 😂. He’s so cute with his thoughtful gestures!!🥹❤️ . “𝙎𝙝𝙚 𝙖 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚 𝙄 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙥 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜” - Demetrius💞 “𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙩𝙨, 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩, 𝙄’𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙤𝙙𝙮𝙜𝙪𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙗𝙤𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢 𝙢𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙪𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙧𝙨.” - Demetrius💞
I truly loved this book. I can definitely relate to a lot of it, it really hit home for me. With so much trauma and heartache all you really want to do is protect your heart. This book was beautiful. It open my eyes to a lot and I am definitely going to start journaling. Thank you
Another cute dark romance that felt soft despite its dark romance, mafia setting. This can be read as a standalone or better still following the first book in the series as it features cartel boss and best friend of the MMC from Book 1, Demetrius, and Samara, the book 1 MMC’s sister. Here, the depth of their secret marriage of convenience is revealed in a complex time when Samara’s incarcerated father is plotting for a regime change in the cartel he started, which is currently under Demetrius’ leadership.
I understood Samara’s hesitation being with Meechie as she wanted to get away from everything cartel-related. I wish they had been more open about their feelings for each other earlier but there wouldn’t be a book then and also their game-playing makes sense given how the relationship started. I enjoyed the fact that Meechie was a listener and could take criticism well. This was an enjoyable read- I prefer it to Book 1 even. The reason it doesn’t get a higher rating is that it could have done with a bit more plot and character development. It was well-written but it at times felt a bit like strategic bits were jumped to advance the plot in a specific direction rather than feeling organic. I recommend it though.
There is nothing that A. Blossoms name is attached to that I don’t want to read. Even though this book was not to be expected I’m so glad she let these characters come to life. Her books just pull you in from the start and there is no putting it down until you’re done. Samara and Demetrius story was fitting for them. Baby the back story was so needed because I really didn’t think that that’s at all how that went down with the 1st book it seemed real random and by accident but it’s makes all the sense in this book.
Yo they kept that secret didn’t they and how because that’s too long I would have been told or been trying to figure out a way to make my move. I loved how the two knew what it was and moved accordingly but all while still respecting the game and secret.
Demetrus Augustine was that dude!!! Loyalty and honesty along with his respect for the game and his family was how he lived. When it came to Samara though Meechie in him never came out until it did. I know I was on his side the moment he kicked that dude out his own house and stood on it the whole time waiting for Samara to express her self the way he knew she felt. He wanted what he wanted and would wait and play her games till enough was enough.
Samara London was the sweetest and most loving girl. Loved adored and looked up to her big brother Royal, which is why she was willing to do whatever it took that he could get his happy life away from the cartel and she too, was able to pursue a life following in his footsteps her brother was like her dad being that their dad was just always absent in their lives. Meechie knew this and was right there along with them the entire time being that they were his family outside of his brother being his family all lived in another country. They was Samar comes to terms with the way she feels about Demetrus was so sad to see but also proved to everyone just how gone she was for him and wouldn’t let that stop her from there on out.
The two just meshed and balanced each other out. Have you thinking is all a good girl needs is and unhinged man that’s willing to give you the world while loving the hell out of you and making all the time in the world. Then all a good dude needs is a good girl who wants to be his peace and show him different. All while they only have eyes for each other. Or maybe that’s just me.
I swear it’ll be your own people that are looking for your downfall and trying to get whatever they want by any means necessary even if it means breaking your heart taking a life watching you fold making you crumble. Mr. London was a low down dirty dog now I feel it was him who killed his own business partner being Meechie’s dad? Because if you don’t give a damn about your own kids and that’s all you have left in this world and are willing to hurt them and bring them harm just to get what you want. I highly doubt he wouldn’t do the same to someone who was in the life he was in and being at the same level as him.
To find out that samara and Royal had a long lost sibling that the daddy being as powerful as never brought up, never searched for never look it justlooks shady. But for the brother of said long lost brother to be living in Samara‘s building I know that that man knew about Samara‘s fake little boyfriend.
Oh we had a time with this book! Yes, I was able to do another buddy read and this book takes readers on an emotional rollercoaster full of loyalty, duty, and unexpected love. The story dives deep into the complex and unconventional relationship between Meechie and Samara, two people bound together not by choice but by loyalty to Royale London, the one person they both hold in the highest regard.
Meechie stepping in to lead the cartel instead of Royale came with one major condition: he had to marry Samara. Neither of them wanted this arrangement, but their love and loyalty to Royale made them agree. The plan was simple—stay married for five years and then go their separate ways. But here they are in year six, still married, and nothing about their relationship feels temporary anymore.
Samara’s internal struggle is beautifully written. She’s fiercely independent, but as she admits to herself, the intimate moments she’s shared with Meechie over the years might have blurred the lines. Her hesitancy and confusion about their situation feel real and relatable, making her a character you can’t help but root for.
Meechie, on the other hand, is unwavering in his feelings. He knows he loves Samara, and he’s determined to make her see that she loves him too, even if she won’t admit it. His loyalty runs deeper than just his commitment to Royale—it’s in every action he takes to protect and cherish Samara, even when she’s unsure of her own heart.
The dynamic between Meechie and Samara is both frustrating and captivating. Their push-and-pull, the moments of vulnerability, and the undeniable chemistry make their story impossible to put down. The tension builds as you wonder whether Samara will finally accept the love Meechie has been offering all along or whether their arrangement will eventually break them apart.
If you love a romance with complicated characters, sizzling chemistry, and a strong foundation of loyalty and love, Bodyguard My Heart is a must-read. Meechie and Samara’s journey will have you hooked until the very last page.
This was a good story and one I had been hoping the author would write after Samara revealed she was dating Demetrius in her brother’s story. I knew that would make for a good story with the brothers best friend/best friends younger sister trope typically always being a good one and this one did not disappoint. This story also gave me the secret wedding and relationship trope as well.
Samara and Demetrius were cute together and I’m glad that they were able to get their happily ever after. Samara was determined not to let Demetrius love her though because she saw everything she disliked about her father in him, but she still fell in love with him and he with her. I would have liked to seen more on page of their stolen moments that got them to the point of falling in love and not just keeping this arrangement so that Royale wouldn’t have to take over the cartel. I did like that even though those moments were not on page, you could feel the love between Demetrius and Samara.
There was a plot twist, but after the first book, I wasn’t surprised that Samara’s father was behind it in some way, but in the end, it backfired on him. He was so focused on the cartel even behind bars that he couldn’t see how his actions affected his children and even when Samara told him how it affected her, he didn’t seem to care and brushed her off. This book definitely shows that even those with money have problems and don’t have a perfect life and that perfection is based on perception and rarely on reality.
Now the author said she hopes that Polo and Contessa start talking to her so they can get a story and I’m on board with that especially after the epilogue in this story.
Let just say I enjoyed the cat and mouse they played with each other 🫣☺️🫣!
So I have to admit I was shocked on how they kept a secret for 6 years! Like a whole 6yrs! I truly felt and could only imagine Samara fear of love! You know a father is a daughter’s first love but can also be her first heart break. The emotional trauma she endured caused a thick wall to be built! But we all know that saying- the heart knows what it wants. The love and emotional support that Meechie provided her was everything! Wasn’t your normal type but understood it worked for them!
Listen let talk about that dang Meechie! The man here was unhinged! Can was talk about the way he kicked in that door 🤣! I was in tears laughing! But he was not playing about Samara at all! This man loves that woman and was willing to grant her that wishes but was never truly letting go. However, one tragic incident changed the outlook of their relationship and open the eyes of Samara for her to realize the love she has for Meech! There’s so much to say about this relationship but don’t want to spoil for those that haven’t read 🥰!
Can we talk about that daddy! When I say I had a feeling, I had a feeling! He was so wrong in so many way! Not only did he neglect the home front, but he had a whole other son out there. This man was so blinded by trying to Ron the cartel and keeping it in the family, he blinded and played like a fiddle 🤣 and that good ole KARMA played her part and played it very well
When I say I enjoyed this here book, I mean just that! Now headed to that Finale book 3!!
This book picked up from where book 1 left off, filling in the details of that announcement, then leaped 5 years into the future. Initially, I was irked by Samara because she was being childish, in my opinion. However, when it mattered most, she rose to the occasion for Meechie. This book had some twists I didn't see coming and a bunch of steam that had me fanning myself. It also had some drama that made my lip curl in disgust because with a daddy like theirs, they never needed an enemy. Overall, this was a good follow-up up and Meechie and Samara finally got it right, and the epilouge made me smile as all the characters got to have the day they all dreamed of.
This is not the story I was expecting, it was so much more. Samara has really been in love with Meechie since she was younger, and I wish that would have been picked up in the story a little more but it wasn’t and that’s ok. Daddy London was slipping. He should have definitely done a little more digging into the intentions of other son. Meechie was down bad behind Samara and my girl kept curving him, kinda. She just did not want to be tied to the cartel any longer. Both of them had Daddy issues. It was nice kinda watching Samara work through hers. Overall, it was a good 2nd book of an unplanned series.
Listen, the minute I heard 6 feet 8 inches 280 pounds I knew I was go be in love! Big Meechie is what we should call him! Idk what Samara was play and ranging them papers over his head every chance she got! I wanted to snatch them a rip them!
My favorite part was them in Haiti! I think stepping away from the everyday world to really escaping reality helped bring this relationship together
Love me some Meechie. 6'8" 240, that will di it for me every time. Samara and Demetrius were too good together. They went six years without anyone knowing they were married. Tragedy struck, and now everyone knows.
Talking and listening to his Grandpapa was a wake-up call for Meechie. He knew that he was going to have to start moving differently. But how? Especially when all you know how to do is be street.
This was a good read. A. Blossom does her thing all the time. Great storyline, characters, and drama. Can't wait for Polo's story.
If you haven't read book one do so before this one. In book 1 you get to see Dr Royale best friend Meechie having his back and took over running the carter when London chose a different path. In book 2 you get to see more of how that arrangement came about and how Samara and Meechie end up in a relationship. With this being a mafia romance of course there were a few plot twist that I didn't see coming and kept me holding my breath. I love when you have a bad boy like Meechie who is not afraid to be vulnerable, do anything for the FMC and now afraid to show his love for her. I love the reference to his Haitian roots, and I enjoyed the story of his grandparents and everything about that part of the story.
This is for the girls with daddy issues who self-sabotage relationships in order to avoid being hurt & the men who love them through it. lol. My goodness did Demetrius & Samara have to fight through trauma, guilt, grief, betrayal, and deciding to choose a life different than what you’ve always known in order to get to their happily ever after. They were a little toxic with their back & forth in the beginning lol but it’s like that when you’re afraid of being vulnerable. Another enjoyable read & up looking forward to the final book
This book is rated purely off vibes. A. Blossom took me on a RIDE with this one.
This is book 2 in the series, and once again, I jumped straight in without reading the other. In my defense, I bought this in paperback a few months ago at a local indie bookstore where they warned me it wasn't the first in series. I told them I didn't care because the blurb had me hooked.
And hooked I was.
These two were messy in the best of ways. It had enough spice to keep things hot and enough action I kept turning the page.
Both Meechie & Samara was afraid to communicate their fears but once they got on the same page, they realized they were it for each other, and couldn’t deny their love for each other any longer. Sometimes, when we’ve been hurt so much in the past it causes us to put up a wall which may in the end limit us from experiencing the love we deserve. Glad they were able to get their HEA!
Meechie, that man is definitely unhinged and I love it. The plot twists that Ms. A. Blossom put in here. Let’s just say I ate this entire book it was that good. Meechie gave up cartel for the women he love and Samara finally gave her heart to Meechie. I wish it was more cause now I want to see their family grow after the cartel as well as Ro and Monroe’s life. Go read this damn book, it’s good with a lot of hot tea ya hear me!
To keep Ro from being tricked into taking over the cartel by their dad by saying he was turning it over to Samara she knew that something had to be done to stop him. Demetrius was in the cartel but could only run it by marrying Samara so that's what happened because they were not going to allow Ro to do that cause Ro and Demetrius was best friends so they did secretly. This book was so good and it all worked out in the end. Loved this book
