Echoes of Betrayal

Rate this book
I don’t know where we go from here. Not when I don’t even know what I am or how to protect my mates from myself. Everything I’ve known is a lie, those I trusted most the reason I ended up in this position—lost, confused, and scared that I’m going to hurt those I love.
Unfortunately, the world isn’t going to wait for me to be ready and now that people know what a Zeta is, I have to figure things out or get left behind.
My mates are taking one step forward so I do the same by helping Athena around the gym, finding a place for my overcharged aggression.
Which is where I find my third mate.
God, my Alpha is going to kill me.
Especially when his new position at his father’s company reveals that the scandal with Gonidio Labs is far from over.
Oh, and he might not be the dominant mate in our little pack.
Go figure.
Echoes of Betrayal is the second installment in The Ultimate. It is an 18+ medium-burn MMF Twisted Zetaverse that follows a fierce Zeta FMC figuring out who she is and finding that love comes in all shapes and designations. Cliffhanger. TW/CW in Author’s Note.

Echoes of Betrayal, book 2 of The Ultimate series, by N. Slater @slater.47. First off, I am a fan of Nic’s & this book was no different! Please read the content/ trigger warnings!

This was such a great 2nd book about Kyveli, Kristos & Ikka! Tropes: Contemporary, College, MMF, Omega, Zeta, Alpha, Illegal Testing on Humans/Drug Use, So Many Questions are left & a cliffhanger!

Another wild ride from N. Slater!

This one is not as action packed as the first one, but it is stock-full of emotions and drama. The mystery is slowly unravelling, but I still have so many questions.

The polucule is getting to know each other better, for better and worse, as this book stretches over time, compared to the first which was what, a week?

I really enjoyed the book, but it really goes into some darker themes and plays on your emotions. You have to be ready for this, I had to break the book up a bit.

I am looking forward to the continuation of the series and to figuring out who the third is!

My heart is still pounding after finishing the book 30 plus minutes ago. That was a WILD RIDE!!! I cannot wait for book 3, I need it like, right now. This series so far just keep getting better and better with each book. I'm so obsessed with Kyveli and her mates. So excited to see where her story goes from here.

I really enjoyed this book and left me wanting more.

This is such a different take on the omegaverse. Usually girl meets pack and meeting the pack solves most if not all the issues. This is not the case in this book. This book is about healing and finding oneself.

Kyveli is not having a great time in this book and is struggling to manage her emotions and ptsd.

Kristos and ikka are trying and their dynamic really grows in this book. I can’t wait to see Kyveli finally let go and join them fully.

Really looking forward to book 3 and what’s to come. Think there me be a beta in their future?

Amazing series that will be amazing when completed

This book was a roller coaster of emotions!! It was such a hard read for me, mainly because of Kyveli's struggles. Reading about her feels and then reading about her mates reactions and concerns about her was heartbreaking. I need more immediately! I did not want that book to end. I cant wait for the next book!

Wow, where do I even begin....

So we dive right back into it with Kyveli, Kristos, and Ikka.

I felt so sorry for Kyveli and what she was going through. What happened to her was nothing short of horrific, and she definitely needed and deserved the space to just breathe and deal with her trauma.

I'm a little angry at Kristos and Ikka, especially Ikka. I get that he struggled with what he saw his mate do, I really do, but also, he should be there supporting her, not doing what he did. He is being a little selfish, in my opinion, and I think both he and Kristos need to grovel to Kyveli. Kristos, I think, was trying so hard for so long, but again, some of his choices were extremely poor. I just hope they see the error of their ways soon.

It was really interesting learning about Kyveli's family because it's pretty clear they are a part of whatever is going on and are harbouring so many secrets, especially about Kyveli. They deserve to be, you know...

I have lots of questions and theories, though, because that cliffhanger was mind-boggling 🤯🤯🤯

Also, Lucas. What is up with him??? I need to know more!!!

I am so invested in this world and can't wait to see what happens next because I know it's going to explode...

Thank you to N and your amazing team for the chance to read this story and be a part of an incredible ARC Team. I am forever grateful 🙏

How do you help someone medically when their biology is something completely unknown? The answer: It's a long and very bumpy rollercoaster of a road.

This book faces the trauma and healing everyone is left with in the aftermath of the Lockdown as the truth comes out. The world now knows about the truth behind the Zeta designation. How charges weren't laid on every single Zeta's parents after that discovery...I have no idea.

This picks up right where book one left off and Kyveli is facing the psychological impact of what was done to her as well as what she did in order to survive. And she's not coping. She's terrified of herself, terrified for her mates believing herself a danger to them.

Ikka and Kristos feel helpless throughout this. What are you supposed to say or do to help when even the doctors can't? Some of the decisions they make are...frustrating at best but these guys are barely adults. They've known each other for days not years and suddenly they're living together with no job prospects, neck deep in trauma, no where to live, the entire world wanting a piece of them and parents/in-laws who want to use and abuse them.

As a reader, you don't know any more than the characters do. I've finished book two and I still don't know why we got Lucas' POV in this one. The importance of it. I kinda like being in the dark for once (I'm quick to work things out - I figured out/guessed the truth behind Kyveli's Zeta composition when she was in the honspital - so it takes the challenge out of it sometimes.)

I want to like this series because MMF (eventual MMMMF?) where all the swords cross is thin on the ground. I need to feed my fix but there’s almost always extra stuff I don’t like mixed in making reading them hard.

Her reaction to traumatic events and her eventual PTSD is to violently lash out at her men, abusing them so badly and randomly they flinch at her approach, movements, and they struggle with rationalizing their behavior and her behavior. It all feels gross.

Yeah okay she’s a T-Zeta. Her men may forgive her, but that doesn’t mean I do. The moment she clawed up her Alpha up in a blind rage was the moment she stopped deserving a HEA.

If she were the MMC instead, would that have flown at all? No. The feral character should be implicitly trusted to not harm a single hair on the head of their love interest(s). Murder the snot out of everyone else, but never their love interest. That’s abuse. And it’s not okay. That it came from the MC makes me feel like she’s no longer someone I care to follow into the dark this story may delve into. She needs to be let go of so she can heal on her own, by herself, where she can’t hurt anyone else.

AHH! I devoured this book and it broke my heart along the way. This book puts you through an emotional rollercoaster. You'll be mad, rage, wanting to snuggle and just care for these characters. You learn more about Kyveli's parents, while wanting to cause bodily harm. You get hit with a mild cliffhanger. You get some answers, but you are still stuck with way more questions that will hopefully be answered in book 3 at least in some capacity.

Be aware of the triggers. While the book isn't dark, but there are some instances where some readers may find hard to read. Kyveli struggles throughout the whole book, and she needs her mates but she won't allow them to get close. Your heart breaks for everyone. I'm ready for some healing energy <3

So good! I was anxiously awaiting this book! I needed to know what happened next! This one is a lot more emotional than the first. Kyveli, Kristos, and Ikka have really only known each other for a week or so before they were thrown into that awful situation. Now they kind of need to learn how they all fit together. Kyveli of course has a lot of trauma/ptsd from what happened in the first book on top of learning how zetas actually came to exist.
It’s great to see how Kristos and Ikka’s relationship is forming as well.
And the end really sets you up to be super excited about the next book! I can’t wait!

Echoes of Betrayal (The Ultimate Book 2) by N. Slater

It felt incredible to dive back into the Zetaverse again. N. Slater continues to build such a vivid, intense world, and this installment pulled me in from the very first page.

Kyveli, Kristos, and Ikka were absolutely intriguing, each of them facing their own challenges, growing stronger, and pushing through the chaos surrounding them. I loved how the author balanced emotion, tension, and worldbuilding so seamlessly.

Everything about this story hooked me, and now I’m desperate for book three. This series just keeps getting better.

This book was so good and was such an emotional journey. I absolutely loved every minute of it and was so excited to get it! This book picked up right where the last one left off. I went through a rollercoaster of emotions.

I really was happy to read more about the characters and learn more about them and everything they are going through. There are times some of them make me angry but also me wanting to hug them.

Overall, I absolutely loved this story. I am excited for the next book that cliffhanger left me wanting so much more. I highly recommend this series it was so good!

I'm enjoying this zeta-verse series!

This book was more of an emotional ride than the first. I felt for Kyveli! She was truly struggling after the events in book one. And her family? Awful.

I'm not sure how to feel about her mates. I guess in the end they were doing their best to help her, but I was a little frustrated by their behaviour at times.

There was a cliffhanger which has left me intrigued for book 2! Look forward to seeing how this story comes together.

Life after the Lockdown

So the pack is together but everything isn’t rainbows and roses. They face so many challenges and people still trying to pull the strings in how there pack should be. You got Keyveli still trying to figure out what her designation really is because what people are telling her just doesn’t fit. Her short temper has been getting the best of her to where she pulling away from her mates but in the end there still staying strong

Good LORD!!! Was this book a roller coaster!! Couldn’t but it down!!! So so so so so amazing!! I love and hate that it ended on a cliffhanger. N. Slater did it once again. Please please PLEASE check trigger warnings. But oh my this book!!! You can’t help falling in love with these characters. You feel what they feel. Like you are a part of them. I love it when a series or a book does that.

So many questions

My heart breaks for Kyveli, Kristos and Ikka. So many unanswered questions makes them question everything. Kyveli trying to deal with everything after the Lockdown while trying to heal herself. Cannot wait for book 3 after that cliffhanger. Going to be a long 9 months.

wow! just wow!

This is one of the very rare books that fill every inch of your soul with the story. The plot is absolutely exceptional. Just the right amount of suspense and grit and a f load of spice, it’s got it all. The character development is an omegaverse masterclass. Can not wait for the 3rd piece of this amazing story!

I am not normally a series girlie but I will always make an exception for Nic. This book picks up right where the last one left off. It gave us some bigger pieces of the back story and despite the answers you get, you will have more questions by the end. I am dying to see how this series pans out.

Echoes of Betrayal, the second book in the Zetaverse, is a powerful and emotional journey.

Picking up right where Comfort and Lies left off, we find Kyveli in the hospital, still reeling from the shocking truths she discovered about herself and her family. Kristos, her mate, is by her side, offering support and comfort.

This book takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions. You'll feel anger and frustration at Ikka's treatment of Kyveli, but also empathy and understanding for both mates as they navigate their complex relationship. You'll find yourself shedding tears for Kyveli, who has endured so much pain and heartache.

In Comfort and Lies, Ikka seemed like the sweetest, but in Echoes of Betrayal, his actions leave you feeling angry and disappointed. Both mates struggle to understand and support Kyveli, and their reactions can be both disturbing and saddening.

Kyveli thought she had escaped the worst of her pain, but Echoes of Betrayal reveals that her journey is far from over. She may never truly escape the shadows of her past.

Be prepared to reach for tissues, a strong drink, and some chocolate as you experience the emotional rollercoaster that is Echoes of Betrayal.

I love this series; it's dark, gritty, and filled with secrets, heartache, and spice. And that cliffhanger, even more secrets.

What a truly remarkable take on the oV world. A Zeta!!! I loved Issak, Kristo and Kyveli! Tho it is a bit hard to read at times because of what the Zeta has been through and what she’s going through it was a great story and I need more!
FYI I hate her family
