Pokémon is one of the most popular and successful entertainment franchises in the world, encompassing video games, the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG), mobile games and apps, animation and movies, Play! Pokémon competitive events, and licensed products. It was first established in Japan in 1996 with the launch of the Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green video games for the Game Boy™ system. The video games were released internationally in 1998 as Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue. More than 20 years later, Pokémon continues to be a global entertainment mainstay and pop culture icon.

A nice and compact encyclopaedia covering the whole of Ash's time as the main character of the animated series. Definitely cool if you're a fan of the anime.

However, when reading I did notice some pretty big errors which is why I could only give it three stars.

There are numerous minor errors such as the wrong pokemon's picture being used (I.e. there's a picture of a Midday form Lycanrock when it should have been a Dusk form, etc.) But there are some major errors in that a couple of the regions are incomplete. For both Kalos and Alola, the books mention nothing of either of the leagues. This is probably due to previous editions of the book coming out before those respective series had finished airing in English. Even so, it seems baffling how in later editions they weren't completed. It feels weird reading a book talking about the achievements Ash had in, say, Galar, when the Kalos part only mentions that he's currently got 7 badges from there.

Whilst the content is pretty concise (sometimes too much I would say) and it covers everything from Kanto to Galar, the numerous errors and left out information let it down massively.

I'm fairly new to the Pokemon scene and I thought this book would help. There is a lot of information in here to wade through but there are pictures of the pokemon, names, locations, size, and types and some of them are so cute (too many to name). Maybe I should start smaller.
