We haven’t seen the movie but this was a pretty good read via audiobook. It had a funny moment at the start and action, adventure and suspicious characters.

If reading this to a kiddo, it's probably best to paraphrase; otherwise you risk boring the poor bubba to death. I personally didn't mind how boring it was, as I've had an extremely boring day; the small amount of excitement in the book was appreciated.

A nice easy read about the loveable Paddington Bear. Taking him out of London and back to Peru. I love how he's part of both however is mostly Brown these days. The only downside is at times the writing felt a little flat for the magic that is Paddington. Still good to get the dialogue of the movie in writing.

I had been meaning to watch the film when it was first released in cinemas, but I just hadn’t found the time or someone to go with. So, I thought I might as well pick up the book instead, and I was not disappointed.
It’s a quick, heartwarming read and a lovely escape. I mean, who wouldn’t have their heart melted by Paddington? 🐻💛

Paddington bear is the reason that I turned into the bookworm that I am now. As a young girl in primary school, it was a mix of him and a very talented teacher which took me from refusing to learn to read, to becoming a voracious reader. For this reason, he will always hold a special place in my heart (and on my bookshelves). Paddington in Peru, the film, is on my to-watch list, but I picked this up at this time as currently my aunt is reaching the end of her life, following a battle with cancer, and sometimes you just need a little comfort.
This story sees Paddington travel to Peru, to visit his Aunt Lucy. When he gets there, he discovers that she had gone missing, and so he and the Browns begin a journey into the jungle to try and find her.
As you can imagine with Paddington, not everything quite goes to plan, and despite him coming from a place of kindness, not everyone is quite who, or what, they seem to be. Overall, I did enjoy the tale, and it did give me some comfort, to revisit this kindly bear from my childhood. But the reasons why I only awarded 3 stars is that with this not being written by original author, Michael Bond, a little bit of its charm is missing. Plus, although there are illustrations at the beginning of each chapter, there are no other illustrations. This is a shame, as the illustrations from previous Paddington books truly do go to enhance the stories (the late Peggy Fortnum was able to create such feeling with just a few strokes of her pen or pencil).
Having said that, this tale did manage to make me laugh and it made me shed a few tears at the end. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the film; I am sure that the actors will be able to really bring this adventure to life.

I have liked Paddington Bear stories since I was young and have it in black and white two a dimensions background.
The story is okay. The writing is boring. If this is the level of skill she has, it might as well be AI sloop.
Paddington is going to go to Peru to visit his Aunt Lucy.
So the Brown family goes with him. Sounds good.

Loved this book as i was late for the movie and i’m pretty sure it covers more than the book and i definitely recommend it !!

I remember going to see Paddington in November 2024, the film was really good there were funny moments and sad moments. A few funny moments include when Paddington is getting his passport photo, he ends up being stuck against the glass and when he reached his passport control, he has to pull the same expression before getting to Peru. Another funny moment is when Paddington is sailing the boat on the wheel comes off.
In terms of sad moments, it seemed like Paddington was going to stay with his bear family until he asked to go home with the Browns this really tugged on the heartstrings.
It was only when myself and my friend were shopping in Birmingham, I spotted the book and thought I would compare it to the film.
The book was a slight variant to the film some of it was the same but other areas had extra lines.
An interesting book which really tells the story of Paddington in Peru I would also recommend you go and watch the film.
In terms of sad moments, it seemed like Paddington was going to stay with his bear family until he asked to go home with the Browns this really tugged on the heartstrings.

This is such a fast paced fun book and I really enjoyed this book. I just love how Paddington goes on all these different adventures and has a very hard time but also a very good time too. I only hated one character in this whole book as they were so annoying but I understand why he is in the story as he is a big part of it. I love Paddington and Auntie Lucy relationship it’s just the best to see. The Brown family always make me laugh with the things they say and do especially Mr Brown. I can’t wait to watch the movie. Paddington is just the best bear about 🐻 xxx

Nachdem Paddington nun endlich britischer Staatsbürger ist, will er mit Familie Brown seine Tante Lucy besuchen. Als die Browns und Paddington in Peru eintreffen, ist Tante Lucy allerdings verschwunden und niemand - auch die Nonnen im Heim für pensionierte Bären nicht - wissen, wohin sie gegangen sein könnte. Nach kurzer Aufregung findet Paddington in Tante Lucys Zimmer einige Indizien und fasst schnell einen Plan, wie sie sie finden könnten.
Auf ihrer Reise durch den Dschungel bis in die hohen Berge Perus erleben die Browns und Paddington verschiedene Abenteuer, treffen nette und nicht so nette Menschen, aber immer findet gerade Paddington eine Möglichkeit aus den aufregenden Situationen heraus, selbst wenn er auf sich allein gestellt ist.
Mir hat der Schreibstil des Buches gut gefallen. Er ist leicht und flüssig zu lesen und ich denke, Kinder, vielleicht Leseanfänger werden gut damit klar kommen. Insbesondere die humoristische Szene am Anfang, als Paddington versucht, in einem Fotoautomaten Bilder für seinen Pass zu machen, hat mich herzhaft lachen lassen. Ebenfalls gut gefallen hat mir der Prolog, in dem Paddington einen Brief an Tante Lucy schreibt und dem Leser so auf eine einfache Weise vermittelt, wie die Dinge in der Familie Brown gerade stehen.
Sehr schön fand ich den Umstand, dass Paddington eben nicht nur auf nette Menschen trifft, weil das dicht an der Realität ist, und wie er sich mit seinem typischen Charme und seiner Unbedarftheit gegen sie behauptet. Etwas flott war deren Wandlung am Ende des Buches, ebenso wie die Auflösung der Geschichte, aber das ist aus meiner Sicht nur ein kleiner Kritikpunkt, der die Geschichte nicht weniger charmant sein lässt. Der Zusammenhalt in der Familie Brown ist etwas, das mir sehr gut gefällt. Zwar hat jeder seine ganz eigenen Prioritäten, aber letztlich ist es die Familie als Ganzes, die zum Ziel kommt.
Da ich weder die Vorgängerbücher noch die Filme bisher kenne, konnte ich mich auf dieses Buch ganz unvoreingenommen und ohne jede Erwartung einlassen. Für mich war es eine sehr unterhaltsame Geschichte, die ich gut zum Selbst- und Vorlesen empfehlen kann. Der Umfang des Buches ist aus meiner Sicht kindgerecht und passend zum Lesealter ab 8 Jahren. Allerdings hätte ich mir neben den Bildern aus dem Film in der Mitte des Buches noch einige Illustrationen mehr gewünscht. Wirklich gut gefallen haben mir jedoch die kleinen Bildchen am Anfang eines jeden Kapitels, die immer etwas mit dessen Inhalt zu tun hatten.

Mein Sohn und ich waren auf dieses Buch sehr gespannt, denn wir kennen den tollen Bären bereits von Filmen, dies war jetzt das erste Buch- Abenteuer mit Paddington für uns.
Im Buch reist Paddington gemeinsam mit Familie Brown nach Peru , um seine geliebte Tante Lucy im Heim für Bären im Ruhestand zu besuchen. Doch Tante Lucy ist plötzlich verschwunden und für Paddington und die Browns beginnt eine atemberaubende Reise vom Dschungel des Amazonas bis hoch zu den Berggipfeln Perus.
Der Schreibstil des Buches ist einfach und kindgerecht zu lesen und so fiel es meinem 8-jährigen Sohn auch leicht in die Geschichte reizukommen und wir hatten mit dem Lesen keine Probleme. Sehr gut gefallen hat uns, dass der Schreibstil sehr bildhaft war und wir uns Peru und die Landschaft sehr gut vorstellen konnten, weniger gefallen haben uns die Comic-Wörter die in den Fließtext eingebaut wurden und nicht immer so recht gepasst und teils etwas gestört haben.
Wir mögen den Humor von Paggington sehr gerne und dieser stellt auch einen wichtigen Punkt in der Geschichte dar. Dennoch fanden wir die Filme bisher humorvoller als das Buch, was natürlich am Format liegen kann.
Das Abenteuer haben wir aber sehr gerne gelesen, wir fanden es spannend und interessant und auch über Peru konnten wir lernen. Es hat uns großen Spaß gemacht mit Paddington auf die Suche nach Tante Lucy zu gehen und wir mochten den Zusammenhalt der im Buch gelehrt wird richtig gerne.

Dies hätte auch insgesamt besser aufgelockert, als alles auf einmal zu haben. Dennoch haben uns die Bilder sehr gefallen.

This book was really funny. My favorite part was when Paddington went to Rumi Rock. This book made me laugh when Paddington sat on the red spikey thing. -Violetta!
