This title is one of “The Nightmare Club” series. It begins with the author/narrator, Annie Graves, explaining a little about herself and the Nightmare Club. She then launches into a tale about a girl in her class named Abbey. Abbey is a bit of a loner and has to rely on her imagination to keep her company. Then one day Abbey discovers that her reflected image in the mirror is another girl, Bee, ostensibly her alter-ego. They begin to carry on conversations and become quite good friends until Bee convinces Abbey to switch places with her. It is too late when Abbey finally realizes that Bee is evil and has no intention of returning to her place inside the mirror, thereby leaving Abbey to live out her days in the limbo land behind the mirror. Annie Graves’ parting shot as she wraps up this creepy little tale is a quick nod to the Twilight Zone. The equally spooky black-and-white drawings are aptly placed on solid black or white pages to reinforce the dark humor of this little gem. Astute readers will discover that not all wishes should be granted. This short story would be a good choice for scary storytelling hour or those readers always asking for scary stories.

Don’t even bother showing up for a famous Annie Graves slumber party unless you are prepared to share a truly terrifying tale. A story so horrifying that sleep will be made impossible for your fellow party goers. Karen shares a mysterious tale of a classmate whose personality changed so drastically that it can only be explained by a dastardly doppelganger.

These quick reads should be shared in darkness with only a flashlight and a creepy sinister voice. Although the books are numbered the haunting yet hilarious story-lines appear to be independent from one another and do not need to be enjoyed sequentially.

Shhh!! You must whisper. In order to stay the night with Annie, you must tell a spooky tale and it must be real. None of this fake lame crap.
What if your reflection in the mirror was really an actual person wanting to swap lives for a little bit? You guys are twins and leads you to believe her world is much better with glass everything that never breaks. Would you switch?
Never trust your shadow.

Abby's best friend is her own reflection, who lives on the other side of the mirror. A story of getting what you want, but its not what you expected.
