Though lacking much authentic Welsh blood, Kim Lawrence comes from English-Irish stock. She was born and brought up in North Wales. She returned there when she married, and her sons were both born on Anglesey, an island off the coast. Though not isolated, Anglesey is a little off the beaten track, but lively Dublin, which Kim loves, is only a short ferry ride away. Today they live on the farm her husband was brought up on. Welsh is the first language of many people in this area and Kim's husband and sons are all bilingual she is having a lot of fun, not to mention a few headaches, trying to learn the language! She is a keen gardener and cook and enjoys running often on the beach, as living on an island the sea is never very far away. She is usually accompanied by her Jack Russell, Sprout don't ask, it's long story!

With small children, the unsocial hours of nursing didn't look attractive so encouraged by a husband who thinks she can do anything she sets her mind to, Kim tried her hand at writing. Always a keen Mills & Boon reader, it seemed natural for her to write a romance novel. In 1995, she published her first novels and now she can't imagine doing anything else.

Terrible. One of the worst HPs I’ve ever read regardless of era. 🫣 Let’s make a stinky parade o’ cringe:

🦨 Boring. Boring as hell. Really, really BORING.
🦨 No plot whatsoever.
🦨 No chemistry whatsoever.
🦨 Totally uninteresting MCs with no personality.
🦨 Flat, pointless dialogue.
🦨 Cheesy, hammy sex.
🦨 Contradictory and/or nonsensical descriptions.**
🦨 Sloppy, slangy, soporific prose.
🦨 Falsely advertised body positivity.***
🦨 Nothing happens. Truly. NOTHING.

**Heroine is supposedly stout & looks pregnant, yet Hero thinks he can span her waist with his hands. Whut? Heroine’s father loves her, yet ignores her for 20-some years, derides her writing career, & forces her to marry a guy she’s only met once to cover his financial debts. Huh? Hero refuses to be made a puppet of, so when a false engagement is leaked to the press he rebels by marrying that same woman to placate the person who fabricated the leak. Really?

***Hero spends literally every scene drooling over her huge breasts. 🙄 Heroine takes every chance to slam thin women as slutty bimbos for no reason other than they’re thin. When it turns out she’s got a teeny-tiny waist & perfect hourglass body, Hero points out that boys are stupid because they lusted for her boobs (helloooo, kettle & pot) while the skinny girls were only jealous of her spectacular figure (because apparently her doormat behavior & spineless attitude had nothing to do with being taken advantage of by anyone with a pulse).

In short:
Zero stars. Awful. Just…awful. 💀

“Last minute vows” is the story of Lizzie and Adonis.

Honestly, I really enjoyed this book.

The heroine is a sweet curvy girl, ignored by her father and bullied by her adopted sister- who her father loves. So called sister marries the hero and the story takes a leap.

Years later, the hero is a widower still reeling from the death of his unfaithful wife. When their families try to make him marry the heroine, he takes the reins in his hands and suggests a marriage of convenience to her.

The heroine was a delight. Smart, very funny, a successful author but not boastful, and fiercely protective of her daughter cat called “mouse”. I loved how her character matured, and the hero was taken on a whirlwind ride during their marriage.

My only grief with this book is
-we didn’t explore the abuse the heroine went through
-the hero jumping between sisters is pushed under the rug, so is his relationship with his ex wife
-we don’t even see the heroine confront her absent father, or how everyone spent years traumatizing her

Could have been better

K. L. Is one of my favourite authors, she definitely did not disappoint me in this book. This story had all of my favourites, heroine I adore, hero only lover, sexual chemistry between the characters.. etc. The only thing I found lacking in the story line, too much of the story spend talking about the past and very little on their present development of the relationship. Also did not like, that hero did marry her cousin, hero having sex and being married to the cousin that heroine grew up with🤢. But the epilogue was the best. Love it.😍

Terribly written - changes perspective in stupid places, end chapters in nonsensical places, and uses big words for the sake of using big words. Nothing happens. Has some very unhinged descriptions of the main character that had me questioning if she was actually a human being.

Worth a read if you’re reading with someone so you can get a laugh, otherwise not worth reading.

I usually enjoy Lawrence’s romances, but many are marred by too much h/H bickering and often a deuce ex pregnancy. In this one the pregnancy doesn’t affect the story beyond h worrying H will stay with her for the child instead of love. Not a lot of dialogue, too bad but also no bickering.

This is a nice, peaceful story with relatable characters, good minor characters and even setting.

interesting story. The two protagonists start as opposites and slowly they begin to realize there is more they feel. Lizzie has hated herself all her life but slowly she is realizing her life is more.

This one is a waste of my time, I think the writer had a vision for the novel that should be but it was not executed in a good way*_*
