I do get the sense that Jake Samoyeday is a very compassionate person and very qualified as a medium. However, this book is in need of professional editing. He stated in his acknowledgements that he may have made "one or two grammatical mistakes". That is definitely an incorrect statement, as there are numerous grammatical errors, various run-on sentences and some spelling mistakes in this book. At times, I needed to re-read a sentence or paragraph to get the gist of what he was trying to say. There was much repetition throughout the book - not just of concepts, but also in his wording. It seemed as if whole sentences or paragraphs were copied from one section and pasted elsewhere. Yet the book had interesting aspects to it, such as his examples of evidential information that came through in various readings. I would have been interested in learning more about his background and what the motivating factors were that drew him to mediumship. He mentioned that he always had some abilities in this area, yet he didn't develop them until later on in life. Why?

Not The Best Work on The Subject of Mediumship

I have read a lot of books about the practice of mediumship and this is not one of the best works on this subject. I wasn't a fan of the writing style that included very long paragraphs or the structure of the book, which didn't appear organized in a sensible way to teach about the subject.

My biggest problem with "The Compassionate Medium" is how the medium/author contradicted himself several times about what he believes ghosts are. First saying they have no intelligent actions, then immediately providing examples of ghosts performing deliberate actions in response to people's requests, such as don't bother me in my room. Same with his opinion that ghosts can't harm someone, which he immediately followed up with an example of when a ghost appeared to be hurting him as he slept. These strange inconsistencies left me wondering what the author/medium actually believes?

Loved it!

I read this book because I lost my Son to suicide. I found comfort and peace in his words. I believe that our loved ones are with us in spirit after passing . That love transcends death and never dies. Jake is kind enough to let me know that he will fit me in for a reading. I look forward to it and know that he will bring my Son through. Jake is a shining light to those in the darkness of grief. I highly recommend this book.

Perfect title

One of the better books I have read about mediums. A humble but informative story of the journey into and about being a medium. There is a large push for understanding that love and involvement is the way.
