Gah! Why do so few authors know how to write a good grovel? The H is so much worse than even the blurb suggests. He doesn't just reject his fated mate for the possibility of a prophesied mate, he spends weeks with her, acknowledges their bond, has sex with her and allows a mating ceremony to be planned KNOWING he's going to reject her! He even interferes in her arranged marriage that was made to protect her pack, again, knowing he was going to abandon her for someone else (even if the someone else ultimately doesn't exist) Then, he goes to her BRIDAL suite where she's happily getting ready with her friends and family and REJECTS her right there! Of course, instant karma and regret because of course she's the prophesied mate and suddenly "oh, what have I done, blah blah blah!" Okay, so all that is pretty terrible, but what does he do? Does he get down on his knees and beg her? Does he tell her how worthless he is and how completely utterly stupid he is? No, he kidnaps her and brings her back to his pack, doesn't tell anyone what happened, so the whole pack hates her, tries to strong arm her into being his mate and saying things like "I'm sorry, but ..." and he just has every excuse for his behavior and has the balls to be angry and frustrated with HER! She goes into heat and of course they mend the bond "for a night". Somewhere along the line, after he repeats the same things to her over and over again, she suddenly forgives him and all is forgotten! It reminded me of Austin Powers and the villain that would tell you what you wanted to know if you asked 3 times 🙄 Even beyond all this, the writing was confusing, with gigantic plot holes, terrible editing and repetitive dialogue. I wasn't expecting anything earth shattering, but I was hoping for an even halfway decent grovel. Disappointed.
