Would you trust a dark, brooding avenger to be your guardian angel?

Unalived in his prime, Victor is now the darkest new recruit of the Agency of Guardian Angels - assigned to save the unsaveable and fight the unfightable. If only he hadn't called his operator a "wingless rat" while still on his probation period. The the vindictive pixie doubles his workload. His mission? To save two damsels in distress. Undercover.

The catch? One damsel is clueless and the other refuses to play along.

Sally is blind to the fact that her Prince Charming is right in front of her. To avoid death by pitchfork Charlotte has to learn how to stand up to her family and avoid drawing things to life.

Guard Me is a gripping, witty spinoff in the Agency of Guardian Angels series, unfolding parallel to the events of Save Me. Set between Victor's breakup with Grace and his fateful meeting with Ellie, this story bridges the gap between The Magic Mirrors Saga and the Goddesses series. While it's a standalone adventure, fans of Victor's prickly charm (and those who hated him in Recruit Me), will find plenty to laugh as two women make him squirm in the name of earning his wings.

I received an ARC from the author in return for an early review.

Bad boy Victor becomes a guardian angel in training and is assigned to save two damsels. He saves the first one but brushes off her attempts at trying to thank him.

The second one he changes into a frog to try and get the damsel to try and change the way she views herself and consequently change her behavior to
attract the man of her dreams.

As a frog Victor spent more time trying to talk with Sally to help her with her problem of self esteem but with Charlotte Victor was completely cold towards her. The only interest he showed was when her drawings came to life and he took them to a different
dimension away from earth so they wouldn’t cause problems.

I felt sorry for Charlotte who only wanted someone initially as a friend and then developed a crush on Victor after he saved her from her cousin! Had Victor spent any time at all with her afterwords and explained things when he realized she had a crush on him, I would have enjoyed the story more. Instead, he just wanted to get her to where she wanted to go and be done with her!

Charlotte finally returns to drawing what she loves and Sally writes a book so look for their adventures in future books by Sky.

I enjoy Sky’s stories and recommend this one so you can see how Charlotte first came to be found in the magic tower in the previous series.

Five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️and laughs 🤣 for Guard Me by Sky Sommers
Oh my goodness! This story is absolutely giggle-worthy. No, wait, these stories, actually. Because Victor, wingless Guardian Angel on probation, has been tasked not with one, but two saves. Long ones, too, not the usual ones. Not the short saves he likes. Get in, save whoever needs saving, slay the enemy, and be done with it.
No, this time his protégés are not the regular “Damsel in distress” kind of girls, and the two Watchers who assigned these jobs to him have way too much fun seeing him struggle 😂
🎨 Save No. 1: Charlotte needs saving from her abusive cousin Andy’s pitchfork, and her Aunt Florence, who does everything to make Charlotte’s life a living hell. But Victor finds out the hard way that the shy Charlotte isn’t just what she seems. There’s only one problem. How can Victor, this “Angel without wings / Devil in disguise” on his black Harley, convince the clueless girl that she can …
Oops, spoiler alert. I guess you need to read the book to find out more about Charlotte and her special abilities.
🐸 Save No. 2: Sally needs to be saved from herself and her unhealthy attitude towards her own body. Not an easy task to begin with, but what’s worse, he has to do it in the disguise of a frog 🤣 … and the girl doesn’t even believe in fairy tales. The girl-frog interactions are priceless.
All the while, there is something else going on at the Agency of Guardian Angels. Whenever Victor returns there to recharge or get new information, he’s thrown smack in the middle of it. Are the Watchers testing his abilities to perform under stress? And what has Guardian Angel Gabriel and an old acquaintance of Victor have to do with it?
Will Victor find a solution to all these problems in time, or is he destined to fail the final test that might finally give him his wings? Read to find out 😉

Different take on art therapy
What I won’t give to be able to draw dragons to life! Or to own a magical motorcycle! Or to go portal-popping! What would I do for a bottle of Sprite? Ooops…forget that last one (sore subject for one of our peeps).

Intended or not, this tongue-in-cheek tale does touch upon a serious topic - lots of emotional illnesses represented here. Which isn’t always a negative thing…sometimes, it’s those who are most broken who understand why … and how … somebody needs saving. The below make for some crazy conversations as well as inspirational results:
*Sally’s self-sabotage from her inferiority complex due to Depression.
*Charlotte’s Stockholm Syndrome with her emotionally unavailable uncle & aunt.
*Victor with his Multiple Personality Disorder from all the flip-flopping he does with his two Chargers (Southern Belle & Sarcastic Sarah).

Fave line:
‘Enjoy the scenery of your ride to freedom.’

I have many places along my journey to “stop and smell the roses”. Will keep me busy until the next in series (‘Remember Me’) releases in late February. That and researching art academies and culinary colleges like our gals…

I'll admit, of all Sky Sommers' characters, I always wondered about Victor. I liked his redemption story in Ash: Crooked Fates and Life & Death: The Goddess of Light but through it all I was ever so intrigued by how he became a dark angel and the details behind some of the fun hints dropped in those two novels.

So, here we finally are. All is revealed. Quirky as ever, this double "guarding" duty Victor has to take on when no one else can take care of the dames in question who live in two separate but similar realities is absolutely hilarious. I also felt sorry for the poor man--erm frog. Yes, for one of his guarding duties he is forced to take on the shape of a frog.

This is also a When Harry Met Sally retelling and it's brilliant. As a fan of the original movie, I really enjoyed the fun twist this alternate version offers.

I simply love how the more of Sommers' books I read the bigger and more interwoven the tapestry gets. It's wonderful and I can't wait for more!

Victor, a Guardian Angel, was recruited to atone for his mistreatment of women in life: he is to save women who were being mistreated. He is given two concurrent "easy" saves in two dimensions: Sally, who really needs to get away from a potentially deadly cousin, and Charlotte, who is trying to win a boyfriend but has to learn to respect herself first.

Of course, "easy" and "simple" are two different things, otherwise this would have been a much shorter book.

Sally's choice of career has hidden consequences; he has to convince Charlotte of her worth by showing up as a talking frog. Add in the flow of time moving much faster in one dimension than in the other, no time to himself to recharge his own energy, and the reactions of the women to being guarded by him, and you have a fast-paced, fun-to-read book worth every page.

Happily afters - or not.

When this Harry and Sally met, they were kids, friends, and companions who helped each other survive childhood and youth terrors.

And Charlotte faces an ending at the point of a pitchfork

Can an imperfect Guardian Angel with training wheels save them both?

I really enjoy this reshaping of angelic hierarchies and fairytales that has some sweet, some bittersweet and some hilarious moments as folks find themselves and fight for their own, iften imperfect, afters.

And as the Brothers Grimm were wont to say: und wenn sie nicht gestorben sind, so leben sie nich heute - if they've not yet found their End, thus they live today.

Victor is a guardian angel. He has two cases to fix. Each has a fairytale vibe. Each of his cases is giving him trouble. Will he help Lottie to get away and live a life. Can Sally learn to listen to her feelings and to make better choices.
