**'If you as a writer think just putting words, sentences, paragraphs and chapters on paper to have a story, then you really don't know the etiquette of telling a truly good story..'

Interesting read centering around an on and off again budding relationship with Carmen and Sarah. The fact that Sarah works for Carmen's father (who initially had some romantic notions toward Sarah who has been an architect in his firm for over ten years) and she is now working with Carmen designing an inclusive community centre for her company is part of the mix. But it is Sarah's pre teen daughter Lily (aka Bug) who steals the show.
It didn't all work, but lots of good issues, including sharing in decision making, inclusion and others, arise. Good read, 4 stars.
"It's not your fault, Bug. You're a kid. Kids make mistakes." She looks at me dubiously and snorts. "Adults do, too, Mom. You make mistakes all the time. I get over it and move on because we love each other." (pp. 249-250).

Really good book, 1st I’ve read by CL, though will be looking out for others. Surprisingly moving. Thank you. Recommended.

Interesting story by a new to me author! Lily was a hoot! She is pretty much what everyone would want to have in a child with her personality and outlook and messages of wisdom. She’s sassy, smart, loyal, kind and brave.
Sarah is amazing and strong and one of the best in her chosen field. Carmen is the boss’s daughter and also amazing and strong. Not sure how they haven’t met in the 10 years Sarah has worked for Carmen’s father but they meet when Carmen agrees to look after Lily while Sarah accompanies the boss to a gala for networking.
There was instant chemistry that was palpable throughout the story. However, the progression of their relationship was very back and forth with often argumentative behaviors that seemed more like arguing for the sake of arguing than actual disagreements. Side characters were quick to pretty much put them both in their places which was entertaining.
Only thing I really didn’t like was the school situation. I didn’t like how it was resolved, maybe ok between the characters but definitely not with the school. Something should have been done or at least discussed with the school as that scenario in real life is extremely scary and dangerous and oblivious school admin is just not ok.
Other than that, this was a fun back and forth sapphic kind of workplace/boss’s daughter romance with a great group of side characters included!

I really wanted to like this book more but the two main characters barely seemed to like each other. They were definitely hot for each other but they were constantly fighting. I didn't get why they wanted to be in a relationship.
The rollercoaster of emotions was a lot.
Lily the daughter of one of the women was well done. She really felt like an overly mature 12 yo daughter of a single mom.
There were a lot of social issues and traumas sensitively addressed which I liked.

Mildly upset this book was what I checked out to try and end my minor reading slump. I initially enjoyed how wild it was at the beginning. If that had held up unapologetically through to the end, I might've even given it four stars. But somewhere in the middle, it started feeling like the flat soda equivalent of a horror novel starring an Eldritch being trapped in a 12 year-old's body and whose powers were reduced to forcing adults into having terrible conversations. I'm not even sure they actually really like each other. Even the supposed bad guy turns out to be a nothingburger.
It feels like splitting this into two books and fleshing the events out would've helped, maybe

Sarah is a lead architect at Richard Tomsen’s company, and the project that they are working on is organised by Tomsen Media, a company started and managed by Carmen, Richard’s daughter. Since she began working for Richard a decade ago, Sarah has become one of the leading architects in the state, with Richard’s guidance and her own intelligence. Early in the story Richard asks Sarah to accompany him to a professional evening event, while she leaves her 12yo daughter Lily with a friend. However she soon realises that widow Richard wants more than the working relationship. He is always a gentleman to her, but she feels her job is at risk if she doesn’t cooperate - she has never come out to her colleagues, and hasn’t dated at all since Lily’s birth.
Carmen befriends her, and realising the pressure her father is putting Sarah under, she talks to Richard. Sarah is much more interested in Carmen than in her father, but their fledgling relationship is disturbed by many disagreements.
I enjoyed this story a lot. There are many angsty scenes, and several arguments in quite a long slow-burn story. Towards the beginning of the book there are several continuity errors; a nugget of info is given, but later the character doesn’t remember it. It seems as though in writing some scene orders were changed but not everything was updated to reflect this. I liked it. The main characters are likeable and relatable, and the story is also relatable, exploring complicated personal and professional relationships. It's a slow burn as the main characters grapple with their feelings about and around their loved ones. I struggled a little bit with just how much Lily got away with for her age, but not enough to put me off the story. Despite the rollercoaster of emotions with the characters, it's a good story.

This is a cute and easy romance that's the perfect antidote for a rainy afternoon.
We follow Sarah as she balances her career as an architect and single parenting to a precocious twelve year old named Lily.
After attending a work-related gala with her boss Richard as just friends, Sarah starts to feel trapped when his interests are revealed to be romantic. Her job security plummets, she's not out at work, and then there's her growing attraction to Richard's daughter Carmen...
Carmen is a successful woman who hires her father's firm for a new project. With Sarah as the architect, does this make Carmen any better than her father, as she's Sarah's employer for the duration of the project?
If that wasn't all, there's a sizeable age gap between Sarah and Carmen plus Lily's best interests to consider.
Can Sarah battle her fears to open up for love, acceptance, and belonging?
Can Carmen get over her own fears around her inexperience of serious relationships and parenting?
Will Lily ever find peace again, or will she forever be providing advice to her mom and Carmen?
I did knock a star off my rating for two reasons:

Really enjoyed - very angsty - MCs had a lot of obstacles to overcome (internal and external) and needed to fight for their relationship. The 12 year old was a pistol and wise beyond her years.

If you like angst, you’ll love this book.
Sarah is an architect raising her 12 year old daughter Lily on her own. She meets Carmen, her boss’s daughter and who lost her mom when she was 12, when Carmen comes to watch Lily so Sarah can attend a work thing as her boss’s plus one. Making it clear to her boss that she is attending in a professional/ friend capacity only, he continues to hope for more, though not in a creepy way. Carmen finally gets through to her father that Sarah isn’t interested in men and that it isn’t a good idea for him to pursue her as her boss. Besides, Carmen is now interested in Sarah and vice versa. So begins their story.
This book is well written and I liked the story. Lily is quite a witty kid. What kept me from giving a 5 star rating is the constant issues arising between the characters, especially their complaints of not communicating with each other. It seems they get an issue resolved and next thing you know they are rehashing it again. I don’t know how many times Carmen would express she wants Sarah only to have Sarah ask did Carmen want her. There were other similar situations where I thought they were moving forward only to have them break up when they weren’t even officially together yet. One would give the other a little kiss and they’d say they were moving too fast. I admit that half way through the book I wasn’t sure I could finish the story. But I persevered and was glad when Sarah and Carmen found their happy ending.

Mild gripe: Lily repeatedly tells Carmen that Sarah does not like men that way. So why isn't Carmen telling Dad that? Both to save Sarah trouble and to protect Dad too. Admittedly there's concerns about outing Sarah, but she knows Dad won't be a jerk.
There's a few bits where there are no transitions between scenes.

Langue skillfully spins a believable, if somewhat drawn out, slow burn romance between two professional women.
Some of the best scenes, however, involve the relationship between each of them with Sarah’s daughter, Lily, who’s on the cusp of adolescence and often seems more savvy then either her mother or Carmen. Good story, I enjoyed it a lot!.

relationships are hard..
Interesting book. Funny how you make decisions. Carmen was upset (well they broke up for believe 2 months over it) because Sarah turned down a job without talking it over with her. But they had made no commitment to each other talked about starting a family but they weren’t living together permanently.
But Carmen turns around calls the woman who made the offer, talks to Sarah’s best friends, her current employer who happened to be Carmen’s dad all without discussing it with Sarah. Why Sarah wasn’t upset puzzling.
Anyway, the book was good loved Sarah’s daughter Lilly. It was probably me but sometimes was confused who was talking Carmen or Sarah.

3 stars. I’ve been striking out with my sapphic romances lately. What the hell? I’m let down by just about everything and I can’t stand it. The writing in this wasn’t the best but it was readable but I didn’t like the romance as I feel like Carmen and Sarah didn’t really like each other. They were just not good together and I didn’t buy into their HEA at all. Carmen herself was also really unlikable and childish as hell. Sarah was okay but I didn’t love her or anything. Sarah’s daughter Lily was also annoying. She’s 12 but talks and acts like she’s in her 20s. Ugh. Three stars because the plot kept me interested but other than that this didn’t really work for me.

I enjoyed this story. The plot wasn’t bad at all and the premise of the book is great. I had a bit of trouble with the execution of it all.
Some parts of the writing felt quite clunky, the pacing was also slightly weird. I found the characters immature and I also felt that each character didn’t necessarily have their own voice. They all just kind of sounded the same, especially when it came to dialogue.
That said, I still enjoyed the story and I was invested to see what the outcome of Sarah and Carmen’s story would be.

Cassidy Langue tells us an angsty story. There are a few stop and starts as the couple work things out. The MCs had wonderful chemistry and strong attraction. The secondary characters were well developed, supportive and necessary to both MCs. The child was endearing, fiesty and protective. I enjoyed the premise, how the story played out.
I look forward to the books by Langue and will continue to follow her.

This story is a slow burn, exploring the tightrope of walking professional and personal boundaries in intimate relationships.
I struggled a little with the relationship between our two heroines, and the reactivity in their arguments. I know I'm a little sensitive to this though, and often don't read romances for this reason.
There was strong character development, particularly with Lily.

Complicated love
This is a story about Sarah and Carmen" is it love wasn’t complicated enough, these two fell in love and the complications began. The problems began because each of them was not good at talking to each other. I found the plot very good and the a lot of angles to the plot. There was anti-gay sentiment, miscommunication, and love. I recommend this book for all who like a good love story with complications.

This is my first book by this author and I am definitely going to check out her other books. I really enjoyed this book as it has a different theme than books I normally read.
You could feel the attraction and intensity Carmen and Sarah had right off the bat. It only got stronger as the story progressed. I also liked the interaction with Sarah's daughter and how she bonded with Carmen.
Overall a great read and recommend it.

The story about Sarah and her teen daughter was very funny. It starts slow, but it was a fun to ready. Other character in the story is Carmen the daughter of the boss. Carmen is a strong woman which live out in the world, no matter consequences. In the story everybody is try to matchmaking the both women.

I’m convinced the mc’s hated each other. There are approx. 2 scenes in the entire book they aren’t fighting and breaking up. Definitely toxic relationship vibes. This was only so long because the author included every fight that could ever occur but not a lot else. Spice was like a one. This one almost got the DNF list but I had already read so far.

Really enjoyed the story. Loved the characters, especially Lily. I like books where the characters are real and I can sympathize and empathize with and this hits the mark. I would recommend and will read again. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Lasting Impressions was my first Cassidy Langue book and I enjoyed it. Sarah and Carmen had good chemistry but they needed to work on their communication. Lily was a great character, reminds me of my 12 year old.

Lasting Impressions was a heartwarming story. The relationship between Sarah & Carmen & their struggles to let go of the past & come together with their future. Sarah's daughter Lily was hilarious, definitely caught the essence of what a 12 yr old girl is about.

Great story
This is the first of Cassidy Langue's books I have read and I'll be back for more. Likeable characters and a great story. It drew me in enough to finish in one session. I'll be tired tomorrow but it was worth it
