Landing among the city's "Most Wanted" was not on my to-do list this morning.
What starts as a normal night turns into a dumpster fire when celebrity bounty hunter and fellow witch Trace Wyatt trashes my pub looking for his next mark – me. For reasons I don’t understand, I’ve been accused of magic theft and murder, and someone wants me dead or, less enthusiastically, alive.
Fortunately, the roguish, charming, and stubborn hunter believes I'm innocent, and together we’re racing against a twenty-four-hour deadline to figure out who set me up and why.
I’m hanging on by the thread of my emotional support sweater, but if I can find answers, maybe I can escape this mess with my life.
( Witch Accused takes place prior to the events in the Ghostmaker Trilogy)
Known for witty, vivid characters, Krista Walsh never has more fun than getting them into trouble and taking her time getting them out. When not writing, she can be found walking, reading, gaming, or watching a film – anything to get lost in a good story. She currently lives in Ottawa, Ontario
I fell in love with this series with the prequel… but the reasons I love Witch Accused from the prequel are different! I COULD NOT put this book down… I was on the edge of my seat up until the very last few pages! The action and mystery was incredible and keeps you intrigued the entire time. My jaw was literally open and my eyes wide throughout much of the fight scenes - Krista did such an amazing job making these magical battles just that… MAGICAL! I absolutely loved the interactions and banter between Alyssa and Trace and am dying for more! The budding relationship between Alyssa and Trace was the perfect tease - Krista we need some more of these two STAT! I will say, I slightly missed the strong familial support we saw in the prequel but like I said…. This story was very different and I love it for different reasons. I’m excited to see the rest of the Mooney coven/family again in future books. I’m so excited for the rest of the series as well because we left off with a couple major tasks for Trace to do. There were so many new characters introduced and I loved each of them - Chip was just quirky and so funny. Reverie… she was an instant dislike for me but oh boy did that change. Krista Walsh… I don’t know how you continue to imagine and create these amazing stories but I hope you never stop!
Delightful from start to finish. I can’t wait to see what happens next. Krista’s writing makes fantasy approachable and appealing to everyone. I love the subtle humour woven in throughout this exciting fast paced adventure. Please hurry with the sequel!

This book doesn't stop. From the first chapter to the end, it is a wild ride!
Wow! I love Krista Walsh's books, and this might be her best yet.
Completely clues, our witch Alyssa is minding her own business, cleaning up her pub before closing when a group of witch's and a bounty hunter burst in, start a fight and tear up her bar. Once she finally get them to explain, she finds out she's been accused of murder, and is to be brought in dead or alive, with a preference for dead.
And it just gets wilder from there!
You don't want to miss this brilliant intro into a new series! Grab it now, I highly recommend!
Alyssa is a witch, from a long line of witches, who just wants to have a quiet life running a bar for supernaturals, along with her best friend (and requited, but impossible, crush) Simon. This simple plan is upended one night when the supernatural police, along with infamous bounty hunter Trace Wyatt, turn up at her door and tell her that she has been accused of murder. What follows is a fast-paced, desperate race against time to prove her innocence before it’s too late.
Alyssa is an interesting main character who just wants to live a simple life, but proves herself brave and unbending under pressure. Trace is the dangerous stranger with the mysterious past. The other supporting characters are fleshed out and intriguing. Alyssa’s family remain in the background in this book, but seem to provide her with a solid foundation and quiet strength. It would be good to see more of this side of her life in future books.
The story was engaging and fun, with a good balance of humour, action, tension and spark. I look forward to seeing more of these characters and watching their relationships grow.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
To say this book is exciting is an understatement! I don't think I took a full breath from the moment Trace Wyatt trashed Alyssa Mooney's pub until the end of the book. I was riveted as Alyssa fought for her freedom (and life!) again and again. As she learned who she could trust. As she learned why she was a target when she kept to herself as a pub owner and part-time, off-the-books healer. As she learned truths about her ancestors and Gramps that he wished could stay buried.
This was quite an introduction to a new series! I can't imagine how future books will match the excitement of this one, but I know this author will not only match it but ramp it up - she always does!
Engrossed is an understatement here, I absolutely loved the changes after the prequel. Alyssa is captured by Trace Wyatt, the famous or maybe not so famous bounty hunter after being accused of murder and stealing magic, but still he ends up teaming with her in their hunt for the truth. We meet some interesting characters along the line like Chip, an unsocial paranoid demon tech whiz who detests contact. Shocking family secrets of the Mooney family. The buzz between Alyssa and Trace, the interaction of their magic, left us panting for more while wondering about Simon and the succubus demon. Definitely going to be another favourite series of mine. I received an advanced review copy and leave this review voluntary Thank you So much.
I’ve come to really love this author’s work, so I was excited to read this series beginner…and what a beginning it was! Alyssa is just a bar owner from a magical family, but when she’s become a target for someone who set her up as a murderer, she’s on her own with a bounty hunter named Trace. Their chemistry is great, and they work so well together in this book. I was a little disappointed that Simon and Alyssa weren’t to be, but I do love that just because two characters have chemistry, they don’t have to get together: yes, they can be just friends. I loved this series opener, and I’m eager to see what comes next with the four characters (don’t want to say too much about the fourth character in case this characters doesn’t come back LOL!). Well-written, entertaining, and action-packed! Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
Thank you to the author for allowing me to be a part of the ARC team! “Witch Accused” releases January 9, 2025!
And we’re back with a brand new urban fantasy series from one of my favorite urban fantasy authors! Who wants to meet some new favorite characters?
Alyssa Mooney is perfectly happy running her bar, a safe haven for local supernaturals in the community. At least, it was…until Trace Wyatt came crashing through her front door intent on collecting the bounty placed on Alyssa’s head. A bounty for a murder she didn’t commit. Alyssa has less than 24 hours to prove her innocence, and she’s going to need Trace’s help to do it.
What a way to start the new year! Krista Walsh always delivers a fun read, and this was no exception. It might even be in the running to compete with her ‘Immortal Sorceress’ series on my list of genre favorites (but I’m withholding final judgement until I have more books).
If I’ve learned anything about Walsh’s writing, it’s that her characters are the soul of her stories. Alyssa is incredible; she’s smart and kind, with enough sass to hold her own and enough magical oomph to back it up. Trace still holds a lot of mystery, but what we’ve seen so far is enough to tell that he’s everything you could ever want in a MMC—powerful, attractive, and clever, and I have more than a little suspicion that he’d solidly place in the ‘heart of gold’ category if he opened up a little. This doesn’t even start to cover our side characters. If Alyssa and Trace are our moon and sun in this story, the side characters are the stars composing their galaxy, and they shine brightly even when they aren’t the focus.
Naturally our story also has plenty of fantastic magic and magical beings to accompany our new friends. The magic here is widely varied, and the depictions make the different types stand out within a magically inundated world. Add this to a fast paced, highly engaging plot and this book was a total hit cover to digital cover. I devoured the entire thing in a day, and I’m already dying for more.
If you like urban fantasy with a solid cast of characters that you just can’t help but like immediately, including one highly sassy bartender, then this is definitely one of those books you need to check out. It’s a solid, fun read that goes down smooth with just the right amount of magical kick.
Witch Accused - Another Exciting Series I have been looking forward to learning more about Alyssa Mooney, Mooney’s Pub, and the Mooney family since reading the Ghostmaker Trilogy. In the Ghostmaker Trilogy Mooney’s pub was introduced as a safe place for the supernatural citizens of Ottawa and a local hang out for federal public servants after work. The owner of the pub Alyssa Mooney is a witch (descended from witches) and with her business partner (chaos demon Simon) maintain safe environment within their pub.
This book has an explosive start and the pace does not let up over the next 18 hours. Alyssa and Simon are closing the pub for the night and a magical assault comes through the entrance in the form of a bounty hunter, and a supporting group of witches, who have come to arrest Alyssa for the murder of a friend who is a fae general. I really enjoyed how Alyssa’s ability to see the signatures of different types of magic in colours added detail to the ensuing battle. Over the next 18 hours the tension of the story is maintained as Alyssa is initially taken prisoner (barely) by the bounty hunter Trace, faces her fae accuser, and then Trace helps her escape to try and prove her innocence. While following the clues to who framed her, two of her friends from the Ghostmaker books (Madison and Jet) have an important cameo scene. Krista puts both her lead characters through an emotional wringer where they come to trust each other. The series of magical battles leading up to the final show down with the person who framed Alyssa are amazing. Krista excels at writing interesting characters And I appreciate her ability to leaven drama with snarky humour. I am hooked with this book and am eagerly waiting for the next books in the series.
If you have not read her books before - this is a great series to start with. Happy New Years 2025 everyone.
If you're looking for a fast-paced urban fantasy full of magic and mystery- Witch accused will be perfect for you! The pacing compliments the story, and chapters leave off perfectly to entice you to keep reading- or pause and process the twists revealed like Alyssa. While I had a hard time connecting with the characters, Witch Accused was still a highly enjoyable read that kept me on the edge of my seat!
I was gifted a copy of Witch Accused, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Alyssa just wanted a normal day at running her pub. But when a bounty hunter shows up and announces she’s wanted for magic theft and murder, her world gets turned upside down–and I was hooked.
This urban fantasy full of high stakes and action was such an enjoyable read. And it included the perfect mix of extra elements such as comedy through Alyssa’s character perspective, lovable side characters (looking at you, Chip), and the slow burn romance between her and Trace. The lore of the magical world set within Canada’s borders is also deep and immersive for fantasy worldbuilding lovers; complete with witches, demons, fae, and more. Witch Accused is a wonderful beginning to The Hour of Witches trilogy. I couldn’t recommend it enough, and I’m excited for book two!
The only thing i Didn't love about this book is i can't read the next one right Now! This book had me laughing out loud So many times and then had me holding my breath for the action. The author provided the perfect balance of humor, sass, and sarcasm with action, magic, and fight scenes. Alyssa is introduced as a sweet bar owner loved by all with a heart for healing. However, she is forced to fight for her freedom and her life when she is framed for a crime she didn't commit. Trace is the badass, "always gets his mark" bounty hunter sent to retrieve her (preferably dead) who ends up empathizing with her (after some hillarious banter and fight scenes of their own) and decides to fight For her instead. We meet some loveable side characters, and there might even be another potential budding relationship as well that I hope we get to see more of in the coming books! I love Alyssa and Trace's dynamic together and can't wait to see how their relationship develops as the characters grow. The ending will leave you wanting more! *this review is based off an ARC provided by the author, review given voluntarily*
Wow, wow, wow! This book was truly fantastic and incredibly difficult to put down. Krista is a phenomenal story teller with an amazing ability to weave a story for the ages. I absolutely loved this world building and the characters. This is an edge of your seat thrilling mystery with a budding romance, AKA an absolute MUST READ! I really hope book 2 comes out soon! I can’t wait to read more of this series!!!
Ms. Walsh, who creates such marvelously relatable characters, has done it again in this book. Alyssa is a powerful witch, but she is somehow just like us, as well. She makes poor decisions, even terrible ones, and has to deal with the fallout. In this case, she has to fix very old mistakes of her ancestors as well as ones she unknowingly makes in the protection of herself, her friends, and her family's bar. There is tension and a battle, with some unexpected allies who turn quickly into found family. As I hate spoilers, so this is where I will stop, but this book is wonderful and compelling. There is even a small visit with characters from another of Ms. Walsh's series! I can't wait for the next!
I stumbled upon this author, and was given the privilege of reading the prequal to this book in an ARC group. Let me begin by saying, as much as i loved the world and characters i was introduced to in that prequal to this book, this first book in the series ASTOUNDS!!!!! I was not prepared for how much I would fall in love with each character and the dynamic each character had with each other! From start to finish, the author keeps you engaged and screaming, "What happens next?!?!?" If there was one supernatural story/book and book universe I would recommend for you to read this year, this book is it. I absolutely can't wait for book two to be released!
Being a grownup and having grownup responsibilities is dumb. I wanted to sit and read this straight through with no breaks. It was engaging, well written, and the MCs are very likeable. I was so invested in finding out who framed Alyssa and why. I hope in the next book, we get some answers for Trace, and we see some more of Simon, Reverie, and Chip.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I LOVE THE MAIN PEOPLE Alyssa, Trace & Simon. Each have a very well developed personality, and the other character; the good, the bad & the ugly! Dara is power crazy and judgemental, Corrick is just power crazy, or just plain crazy! I would hate to be accused of something heinous as she was. But new alliances were made, new friends made, old secrets uncovered and a cliff hanger well in place! If you want action & a mystery, this is your book!
As the title infers, a witch is accused of a heinous crime but said witch, Alyssa, didn't do it. So she's just as shocked when a bounty hunter comes after her. Here's the thing, firstly, Alyssa was friends with the deceased, secondly she was home, alone, watching TV. Yeah, not a great alibi at all! What a cool idea of a mystery/murder, besides the awesome plot, it's very much like the TV series "24", each chapter a count down in the race to find the perpetrator, discover their motive and WHY they targeted Alyssa.
What a cool mystery unfolds in these pages! What impactful action! What amazing turns that had my head spinning! Alyssa is a healer, or was, until she threw in the towel after a traumatic experience, to take over the family pub, Mooney's. Oh and the references to Cheers? Freaking brilliant! But I digress... easy to do when the author herself is so brilliant. Back to Alyssa, she runs her pub with her bestie partner Simon, who happens to be a chaos demon, who also happens to be the sweetest, nicest bestie to have, and then everything goes belly up, fast! Belly up strike one comes in the form of Trace Wyatt, belly up strike 2, she's accused of murder and siphoning off magic, belly up strike 3, a very determined Fae who wants her dead, belly up strike 4, her past catching up to her, belly up strike 5, an earthshattering revelation and the belly ups keep compounding....
Golly are the characters engaging! I loved the beautiful friendship Alyssa and Simon have, as well as Jet and Maddie, two "government" officials who are Alyssa's friends are a breathe of fresh air. I love the emotional support they offer, the unquestioning loyalty and belief in her. Not like Trace, nooooo, HE'S been contracted to find her, end her, for an allegation that's paper thin. Ok, maybe not quite paper thin but geez, anyone who knows Alyssa, knows she's a mensch, not a wench! But she's no walkover, she has such spunk and a feistiness that's hard to contain. She hasn't got a nasty bone in her body, which causes Trace to second guess himself and his assignment.Trace pinpoints Alyssa magnificently with this "Alyssa is a woman who combines strength with grace, wit with caution, sass with compassion" I couldn't describe her better. But this helps none because before long, they're both trying to find the killer and keep out of Dara's clutches, together. Which leads to a majestic story of hidden truths, greed, and a whole lot of heart in throat action.
I do love how Ms Walsh always has me riveted, not just her amazing characters, her skill and prowess, her vivid word picture and rendition, guaranteed to entertain me to the max. Which she did... she takes a character I think is shandy, unreliable and I just adore how she twists it around. Like Rivierie, big, hulking demon Rivierie....I love how wrong I was about Reverie, she turned out to be coolness personified! Then there's Trace, who is supposed to be neutral, doing what he's contracted to do but this is when Ms Walsh is at her best. She shows all sides to her her characters, she shows up their flaws, their fears, she makes them so real. I wanted to both smack Trace and smooch him simultaneously. Well, you'll get it once you see WHAT he did, both good and bad! But heck, he sure redeemed himself! I loved the undertone of a romance brewing, he and Alyssa are a match made in heaven and...aha... I'm dying to see where and if anything transpires between Simon and Reverie.
Awesome read, chock a block with so many drama, magic on another level, even a touch of necromancy. This book just whet me palette, I sure need more!
This is a new series by a favourite author and I easily and happily fell straight into it and remained deliciously caught up for all 300ish pages.
The first thing I noticed was how the chapters were broken down to represent parts of the less than 24 hours allotted for the story arc. I really liked this! It kept things moving along well while giving plenty of time for each piece of the narrative. It's not a style I've seen often but it worked well for me. It's dual POV too, so very few of those hours were blank.
There was a lovely family vibe with the FMC, Alyssa's, cherished grandfather being the main face of her large clan for this book (maybe we'll meet more later? They sound like a fiesty group!). He turned out to be a more enigmatic person than I initially perceived - talk about family secrets! Alyssa and her friend/business partner Simon's close connection was a wonderfully solid, supportive relationship and so well written - lots of facets there, which all gave amazing warmth to that part of the story and hints about possible future spin-offs. This author writes family incredibly well; she gives us all the emotions and wraps them around different types of family, which ticks so many boxes for me.
There was some fun character crossover from the author's Ghostmaker trilogy. Jet and Maddison's appearance added extra dimensions and depth to this world and stitched edges together in a neat seam.
The magic of this world really appealed to me. Simon's chaos demon magic was something special - if mayhem and absolute unpredictability are your thing!! It made for great reading though. I also liked that Alyssa's witch magic was immediate, powerful and had observable effects. I hope for more of the Mooney magic in future books. Watching how Alyssa's magic merged and worked in concert with Trace's, the MMC, while it sparked against Simon's was another thing I found fascinating. Ms Walsh is amazingly imaginative when it comes to her worlds!
I tore through this book and am chomping at the bit for the next in the series!
Alyssa Mooney has spent a whole lot of time maintaining and managing the bar that was once her grandfather’s. With his blessing, after a snafu ended her budding career as a healer, she’s been running “Mooney’s” on Somerset Street, a staple of the magical and mortal realms, for the past 6 years, adding her time into the 57 years it’s been open since he opened it.
Is this what she thought she’d be doing 7 years ago? Nope. Is this the career she’d planned on going into? Nope again. Does she love the hell out of it and take fierce pride in providing a safe zone for the magically inclined and the mortals who remain blissfully unaware to mingle, drink, and enjoy the freshly renovated ambiance? Oh absolutely. With her best friend (not lover, never gonna happen, sadly) Simon the chaos demon as her business partner and right-hand man, Alyssa Mooney is living the life she loves and using her elemental powers to keep things in check.
When a veritable army of witches blasts in the front door of her pub one night completely unannounced, a set of events turns her peaceful life completely pear-shaped. Suddenly Alyssa’s wanted by the upper fae for murder(s!) she’s supposedly committed and for fae magic she’s supposedly stolen… and they want her head. So much so that they’ve sent in the legendary magical bounty hunter Wyatt Trace to bring her in. It’s looking like it’s going to be one hell of a night...
“Witch Accused” is the first novel in the newest series by Krista Walsh, “The Hour of Witches” series. The action is fast-paced, and the reader falls in love with the characters from letter 1. When you mix all of that in with a murder mystery, a slow-burn romance (?), and some amazing world-building, you’ve got a book that you won’t want to put down, and that will leave you DESPERATE for more! I cannot possibly recommend this book enough, 10/10!
I received a free copy of this ebook and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Alyssa Mooney is a quiet witch who just wants to run her pub, Mooney’s, and be left alone. So when a bounty hunter yet shows up accusing her of murder and magic theft, she refuses to go quietly. And after managing to convince the bounty hunter of her innocence, he helps her escape to find the real killer before their deadline is up. Alyssa is a great character. She is independent, strong and smart. You know she has a sad backstory and that’s why she gave up healing to work at and eventually own the family pub (a very strong and influential family btw!). She is normally a quiet, easy going person, but when she’s backed into a corner she learns just how hard she’ll fight. And Trace Wyatt is a perfect compliment to her. He’s a bounty hunter with a tragic past of his own. Not one to trust easily, but once he gives his trust to Alyssa he is all in. Far from perfect, Alyssa still puts him in his place a time or 2. The other characters we get to meet are all amazing in their own ways. Simon, her business partner, is a chaos demon whose magic just cannot mix with Alyssa’s no matter how much they wanted it to. He’s the perfect best friend and there for Alyssa no matter what. He doesn’t even hesitate to get involved. Chip is funny in his own way and I hope we see more of him. Reverie is a succubus fae and she is one of those characters you love to hate, until you just love her. There is plenty of magic, suspense and even magical bar room brawls. All of the characters have more to them than you expect and there are surprises around every corner!! I love that there is only a hint at what’s to come for Alyssa and Trace. It’s the perfect pace for this “relationship”. I can’t what to find out “whatever comes next”.
Witch Accused was my first, and certainly not my last, encounter with Krista Walsh and her work. I mean, wow! This book was like a wild rollercoaster ride, the one that doesn't let you breathe until you're done with it.
Honestly, I felt like I was hooked from the first to the last sentence. The story is action-packed without being overbearing or losing sight of the characters and their uniqueness. I loved everyone involved in the story, from Alyssa and Simon to Trace and Chip. Everyone had a part to play and everyone played it so well.
I mean, what could possibly go wrong when Alyssa, a bar owner and a witch, gets accused of a heinous crime and has to prove her innocence while uncovering deadly secrets and going against some of the most powerful beings in the city? Oh, and let us not forget a broody bounty hunter hunted by his own demons, a bartender who happens to be a chaos demon and a computer tech with the wittiest comments ever? To top it all off, they have some 24 hours to solve the mystery and clear Alyssa's name. Let the rollercoaster begin...
Witch Accused is being released on January 16th, and I urge you to give this story a try. Since this is only Book 1, we can only guess what Krista has in store yet for us. I loved being her ARC reader, and I am so happy my friend Noelle nudged me in Krista's direction.
(FYI I tend to only review one book per series, unless I want to change my scoring by 0.50 or more of a star. -- I tend not to read reviews until after I read a book, so I go in with an open mind.)
3.75
FYI: Alternates point of view between the female main character and the male lead, most chapters are from the FMC POV.
I liked the characters, I mostly liked the plot. I thought the world was interesting. (I've not read the series, that this one is set before.)
First time read the author's work?: No
Will you be reading more?: Yes
Would you recommend?: Yes
------------ How I rate Stars: 5* = I loved (must read all I can find by the author) 4* = I really enjoyed (got to read all the series and try other books by the author). 3* = I enjoyed (I will continue to read the series) or 3* = Good book just not my thing (I realised I don't like the genre or picked up a kids book to review in error.)
All of the above scores means I would recommend them! - 2* = it was okay (I might give the next book in the series a try, to see if that was better IMHO.) 1* = Disliked
Note: adding these basic 'reviews' after finding out that some people see the stars differently than I do - hoping this clarifies how I feel about the book. :-)
Krista Walsh became one of my favorite authors when I first read Death at Peony House from her Invisible Entente series. Since then I haven't missed one of her books and have loved every single one. She is an amazing author and Witch Accused did not disappoint. Her character development is top notch and her world building is always so believable. I believe even if a reader wasn't big on the supernatural genre they would get drawn into Krista's worlds. Witch Accused is the first book in her newest series, The Hour of Witches. It picks up a few years after the prequel leaves off with Alyssa happily managing her bar. When bounty hunter, Trace Wyatt, barges in at the end of the night all hell breaks loose and the action doesn't stop until the end. New characters are introduced and I'm looking forward to reading more about them. One thing I absolutely loved was the crossover from Ms. Walsh's Ghostmaker Trilogy where we first encountered Mooney's, Jet and Maddy. I absolutely recommend Witch Accused and am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series.
Alyssa is a witch and pub owner just minding her own business until fellow witch and bounty hunter, Trace, destroys her pub and accuses her of magic theft and murder. Luckily, Trace believes she’s innocent and they have 24 hours to figure out who set her up or they’re both dead. This series starter started off with a bang and kept going at breakneck speed. The character development was really well done, especially in regard to the relationship between Alyssa and Trace as they slowly get to know each other and form a bond. I also loved the relationship Alyssa has with her partner Simon, a true ride or die friend who would risk everything to help her. The action scenes are amazing and the author excels at painting a vivid picture of all the magical aspects of the story, especially the big fight scene towards the end. If you enjoy a well crafted urban fantasy with lots of action, magic, and a hint of romance, then you’ll love this book. I can’t wait to see where the author take the story next. Four and a half stars.
I was hooked on this exciting, fast-paced adventure from start to finish! The plot is captivating, and I loved how the story unfolded with plenty of twists and turns to keep me engaged. However, it’s not a full five stars for me.
While I enjoyed the storyline, I struggled to connect with any of the main characters. My biggest issue was the romance subplot—it felt rushed and out of nowhere. I would have preferred a slower build-up for Trace as the love interest, perhaps evolving from “enemies” to allies, to friends, and eventually romantic partners over the course of the series. Considering the entire story takes place in under 48 hours, and for half of that time, the protagonist is still pining for someone else, the romance, even if it was only hinted, felt too sudden to be convincing.
That said, Krista’s writing style is fantastic—she makes fantasy accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Despite my reservations, I’m excited to see where she takes the story next!
Alyssa, a witch, is quite happy running her bar along with best friend Simon, a chaos demon, when one day after closing time, it is invaded by Trace Wyatt, a bounty hunter claiming Alyssa is a murderer and magic thief. After a few mishaps, Trace decides to help Alyssa clear her name, definitely not as easy as it sounds. Getting some help from a computer nerd, Chip, they set out to track down who is framing her. The search keeps getting bigger and involves some very interesting characters and locations. There is a lot of action, some surprises, some humour and intriguing relationship possibilities. I love the fact that is another book based in Canada even if it is on the other side of the country, I recognize some locations. I also enjoyed a description of a safe as being a prop from the Murdoch Mysteries tv show. I can really picture it. This was a good, quick read and I definitely enjoyed it. I really want to see how things progress in this world.
Miss Walsh does it again.. Witch Accused is a fast paced story that pulls you in from page one and lets you out at the end wanting more. I loved the characters and also seeing characters from a previous series.. Jet and Maddie from the Ghost Maker series. Alyssa is the owner of Mooney's Bar/Pub that she inherited from her Gramps and when a Bounty Hunter shows up that is when trouble begins. Trace Wyatt is a Bounty Hunter that never misses his mark up until he meets a certain mark that is innocent. The action in Witch Accused is wonderful I loved how the battle scene was described and played out where the innocent comes out ahead and lives to see another day with her friends. So, if you love Magical battles, Good Looking Bounty Hunters, Strong Female characters then this book is for you. I can't wait to see what will happen next.
What do you do when you’re accused of something you didn’t do and looking at a death sentence? Of course you fight like **** to make sure it doesn’t happen.
Witch Accused is the 1st book in Alyssa and Trace’s story and it did NOT disappoint. Each time things looked like they would either be resolved or end badly, another twist was thrown in that just made the whole story better! I don’t always agree with Alyssa’s decisions, in fact, some had me questioning her sanity, but they’re her decisions to make. Can’t wait for book 2 to see where we go from here!!
Alyssa is a witch who uses her magic to heal and she works/co-owns her grandpa’s bar. There isn’t a mean bone in her, but she’s been accused of murder and theft. Trace is a bounty hunter. He and his crew came to the bar to collect Alyssa and collect the bounty on her head. Somewhere between the bar and collecting the bounty, Trace believes Alyssa’s innocence. Now they just have to prove it. The next 18 hours is a whirlwind of investigations and fights between many magical beings. Great book and loved the ending. Hero’s exist in all realms.
